In preparation for Novembers Challenge!

Thought I'd start a thread where we could begin to collect ideas for our 'theme' next month. I will be out of the country from Oct 19 - Nov 5 so you'll be on your own for a bit! I'm hoping to come back and see this thread just popping with ideas and inspiration!

You might want to take a gander through the SNL threads to see some of the bits and pieces that will be in your GCC-SNL MegaKit for Nov. It may give you some ideas as to a theme ... who knows!

This is where many SNL-ers show previews (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2174) of what they are contributing to Satuday Night Live.

And this Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=3403)is where we upload LOs which have been made from some SNL contributions.

Finally there is the SNL site (http://www.compete2lose.com/tmc)which anyone can visit but you would need a user name/password to be able to upload. Only after you have uploaded to a particular month are you able to download.

Quite a few SNL contributors have volunteered to share their work with GCC so each month we select a few items from each of those people. These go into the GCC Megakit for that month. These contributing SNL members, in return, get to be able to download cards from GCC.

You are free to use anything from the month's GCC megakit or from DSP including Freebies to make your cards, providing you acknowledge their inclusion and maker in the txt file uploaded with your card.

While lbjiowa is away please feel free to contact me if you have questions. I will also check this thread reguarly.

Can we go ahead and do Christmas/holiday themes? I would love to print my own this year!

Well if we do not do Christmas in November they will certainly be too late to use this year - so I think that is an excellent idea. My cards to UK have to be posted by 11 November or pay airmail on them!!!
The SNL colour theme was Fall - not very Christmaslike - so I will be making my own bits or looking elsewhere. Fall will be good for Sympathy and such...

Thanks to 27 members of SNL  , we now have a new megakit to use for our November cards. It is not a set of Christmas colours; they come next month:santa: ... But, hey, there is always a use for other than festive cards.
To make downloading neither too fiddly, nor too huge, I have put the files into categories such as elements or BGs and so on. We will see how this works for you - comments  please.

Remember that you are not restricted to the megakit.
Linda made a Nov 2007 thread for linking stuff.

There are still a few cards previewed in our GCC Gallery which have not  been uploaded in their full glory to the sharing site; PM me if you are having difficulties, however if your problem is shortness of time then  ,,,,,,,,, LOL

Cheers Jo

If I get my SNL stuff done early this month (fingers crossed) which is iffy because I'm taking two classes, I will be more than willing to upload it for anyone who wants to do Christmas stuff. One of the classes I'm taking is an elements creations class, so if I'm able based on the lessons to do anything holiday like I will upload it as well.

Is there a theme or color swatch for the Nov Card Challenge?

spotty
11-02-2007, 07:33 PM
Hi Muriel,
No colour swatch but a megakit of papers, elements, etc is available on our sharing site - same old password. Look for it under Megakits - November. It has been compiled from volunteered pieces by SNL 31 contributors.
Feel free to use anything from DSP or SNL as long as you credit.

That's very kind of you, Christina.
I suggest you make a folder with title Christmas by " ", with files inside labelled with your name so no-one can forget who to credit. Then Upload that to the Megakit folder - not in any month.

Good luck with all your classwork and hope you have time to share with GCC as offered too.

I started to play this last month but then family things, including the passing of my FIL, got in the way. Can I try again this month? I never did get to dl the kit from last month so I've forgotten how to do that. And I never got to make a card and upload it, so I'll need a refresher on that too! In other words, I'm basically starting from scratch! Help! Thanks so much.

Vicki -
You might want to start here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27239). We are trying to keep all the guidelines and links in that thread.

Don't worry about last month, just go ahead and start playing along this month! You'll have a great time ... everyone is very supportive and SO creative! Since you were here last we've gotten our own gallery (the link can be found in the Guidelines post) so can review the work from everyone there if you like.

Welcome to the GCC!!!

Thanks so much! I checked out the gallery and http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd317/JakesNana/Congrats-WooHoo/WOW-1.gif There are some super cards in there!!

I also went to download the kit for this month, but it wanted a password. Do I post this month and then get the password or what? I'm really looking forward to doing some cards. Might even do cards for my powerscrapping Scrapping With the Stars (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27551)!! But I will have to wait until next month for that one since I've already started this month's SWTS. So, anyway, thanks for the welcome! I'll get something for preview in the next few days!

Between catching up from vacation, preparing for the holiday, and the fantastic Hybrid Cards class at DSP I'm b-e-h-i-n-d this month...but...I WILL BE BACK with some fun cards! I've had all these ideas rolling around just waiting for their turn to be converted from grey-matter to digital-designs.

I've been lurking around in the gallery admiring everyone's contributions so far this month! What fun you are all having! TFS!

Finally! A few moments to myself! (DH is out of town on business for the night...)

So, after going through the SNL designs from October and couldn't help seeing Christmas all over the place (could it be all those advertisements in the paper, in the magazines, on the billboards... and ... on ... and ... on ...!). My first card for this challenge is a Christmas card ... hope you like it!

Here it is! (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=226130&nocache=1)

Finally got one done. Fresh and Pretty Birthday (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=227020)

I have uploaded my SNL stuff for Nov (holiday theme) into the Nov mega kit folder. Enjoy!

Here's my SNL stuff if you want to peek
Holiday Time Elements (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=226707&cat=500&ppuser=59380)
Holiday Time Papers (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=226355&cat=500&ppuser=59380)

 WARNING: My bows are not perfect. Nancy taught a bow making technique that uses the warp brush which before last week had never been used by me. I also tried some things I'm learning in DSU 261. I highly recommend 261 to anyone who uses PSE. It has been a wonderful class.

We'll be happy to have you join us! You are right about the addiction...so proceed with caution!!! It's so fun for so many reasons! Fast! Creative! Definitely a money saver! Recipient's always love getting the 'unique' cards opposed to something from the store ... how can you pass up opportunities like that?!!!!

Now to get the rest of the world to just LET ME PLAY!!! Wouldn't it be grand if there was a big ole' PAUSE button for that reason?! Kinda like our TiVo system ... only it would work on TIME ... I would love that!!!

See you in December!!!

AT LONG LAST ... :yahoo: time to myself :yahoo: ... enough to get this card (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=227502) out of my head and onto the screen!

I'm SO amazed at just how well the SNL31 kit works with a Christmas 'theme' in mind. I'm going to upload this card to the GCC sharing library in two formats ... one with the NOEL on the front and one without ... my thinking is that this card will work well as a 'masculine' birthday card by simply adding a small bit of masculine ephemera and a block-lettered title. Who knows...maybe I'll even have enough time to make one up!

11-28-2007, 01:34 PM
Vicki...thought I'd check in with you! Did you ever get the download to work? If not, please PM me. Each month you get the SNL SuperMegaKit before you start so you have those items to work with (totally optional though).

Here's another card Dreaming White Christmas (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=227538) It's not uploaded yet. I'll more than likely wait until the end of the month and upload all files at one time.

My cards are all bundled (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=227723&cat=all&limit=last7) and ready to upload. What fun this month has been! Only regret ... I wish I'd had MORE TIME TO PLAY!!! Forget inventing 'clones' ... I just want a PAUSE button for 'time'!!!

I'm SO enjoying all the creative ideas you gals have been coming up with!!! It's great having a collection of fantastic cards 'on the ready'! .... now to fix that little problem I have with getting the stamps on, the addressing done, and actually INTO the mailbox ON TIME! Maybe that will be this year's resolution...

I am curious ... how do most of you prefer to print your cards? I almost always prefer to design them so I can print two full cards on a sheet of 8.5x11" cardstock, since I have an abundance of A2 envelopes (thanks to a closeout sale I bumped into awhile back). The problem with that is ... I don't have a printer that will do full-bleeds so designs have to have a white 'border' to accommodate the unprintable portion of the page. This month I decided to include a copy of each card set up for printing only one card to a sheet. Wondering if that's preferable...

...your thoughts?

... anyone?

...anyone?

You'll notice the gallery is now sorting with most recent uploads at the front ... YAY! Thanks to the DSP team. Guess there were 'stickies' attached to the four images posted back in October when we first got started ... that's all been fixed.

We'll all have to remember to avoid using stickies so we don't re-create that same situation again ... hoping I'm not the first one to do it next :o ... seems that's how it goes-the more I hope to avoid something the more I do it...you know?
