I am completely new to digital scrapbooking. I have PSP 9 and Photoshop 7. I am signed up for the PSP beginners class for Jan. I just can't wait for it to start. What I am wanting to know is would it be worth me learning both PSP and Photoshop? I have played with PSP some and so sort of familur with it. I don't know anything about Photoshop. I would like to learn how to make elements and backgrounds. Just do all aspects of the scrapbooking. Should I sign up to take Photoshop biginners class in March or just stick with PSP? I really would like to learn both programs........I am a software junkie. Thanks for you input.

I haven't used PSP much, but I'd say, take the beginners class, learn your way around, and then decide if you want to tackle PS. A basis in PSP will probably help you learn PS a bit faster, but PS does have a wicked learning curve. Get comfy in PSP an you'll probably either decide you love it and want to stick with that program, or you'll hhave a head start learning PS.
HAVE FUN!

If you love learning new software (and I understand this urge<g>) and you want to learn to make your own elements, I'd plan to take the Photoshop class in March. Your goal after that would be to take Lauren's Creating Digital Elements classes.
Both PSP and PS are excellent programs for scrapbooking. But there are some tricks to making elements that only PS can do. (And some things that only PSP can do - being comfortable with both programs is a good thing.)

Id say if you have both you got it made! You have the best of both worlds, the power of photoshop for creating awesome and realistic elements, but PSP v9 has some very powerful photo editing tools. You can play with both of them, because with a few exceptions, they are not that different as far as the tools they work with. the PSP class will help you get familiar with that program and most of it will translate to PS7 fairly easy so that you would be able to take laurens element class. :)

Thank you Valarie and Betty for your responces. That is just what I wanted to know. I will be taking Lauren's class next month. I just can't wait to jump in with both feet. I will be asking all kinds of questions, you will get tired of me.......hehehehehe.
Thanks again,
Becky

Yes I agree with the others - if you have both - then try them both out - i started with psp and it did help me when i began learning ps - Many of the functions are similar - Im a ps girl now tho and rarely use psp but I do like psp9 for its quick photoediting tools !!!
