OKay so this doesn't deal with scrapbooking directly, but i can't get to this wonderful site without internet so I hope this post is in the right spot.

I have been googling a bit but havent found as much as I would like.

Do any of you have wireless internet through verizon with their usb cable thingY? I am seriously considering it. I am tried of having cable hook up and for only an extra 25.00 a month I can have internet anywhere I go (supposedly)

anyone have any thoughts....advice??

I am using a mac not a pc....

I know nothing about a Mac but we have a wireless modem through our local internet provider (I think it is equal to Verizon) and have 3 laptops and 1 desktop. No wires...just boot up anywhere you are and away you go. Is well worth the money. I have 1 of the pc's in the motor home and can log on anywhere there is a internet connection which is just about anywhere now days. No matter where we are I can get onto any of my fav sites and entertain myself for hours. I would look into it if I were you.

I'm no expert on wireless internet at all - but here's what I'd do when faced with that decision:

1. Check the coverage areas, and the speed in all of the areas you are likely to want to use connectivity within.

2. Compare that to your broadband, and just make sure you can live with the difference.

3. If you do more than a casual bit of uploading (submitting/sending) double check the upload vs. download speed.

We all know that promo material is bound to paint a rosier picture than actual usage, so you might even look for people's reviews online - real customers with real uses.

Love to hear how it all turns out!! We almost bought this when my mother was in Hospice - but there was some complication about coverage there where she was.

I can hook up to the internet with my blackberry hooked up through USB to my laptop and have internet anywhere I have cell service, is that what you mean?
It can't replace my wireless internet at home though. For me the speed isn't enough for all my uploading and downloading.

I have wireless internet and absolutely LOVE it!!!!! I'm in a little poe dunk town in the middle of poe dunk nowheres and the ONLY thing available to me is 3 or 4 different dial up services over analog phone lines which average speeds right about 24,000. Our company is small and local service only but it is truly heaven sent!!! Sure we have a funky radar type antenna/pole job on the roof, but it more than pays for itself everyday. I get to work from home (and with gas about $3.10/gal and 150 miles around trip) the cost of $49.95. The only words of caution I have for you are to make sure the service works from your couch or desk or where ever you will use it the most and check into if they offer a trial period then try it every where! I think Qwest offers something similar if they have service in your area check them out too. HTH -c-

I think they do a 30 day trial.... if they dont there is no way I am signing a contract! I need to know its going to work in the places I need it to work!! one of the main reasons I want it is so that I can do my homework on my computer when I visit my mom or my In laws.

Thanks for the replies... i am gonna go google for verizon complaints :)

My brother-in-law has the Verizon wireless deal on his laptop. He travels (driving/flying) alot for his job across the US (Lives in KC, MO). He loves it. Last week his wife was driving and he emailed me in the middle of WI. It's pretty neat. I had asked him, if while traveling on the interstate he looses connection much and he said not often, but you do need to be in an area that Verizon offers that service. So, I'd check their maps to make sure it's available where you are going to be. He wouldn't be without it. I don't know much about it myself. I think he had a little card of some sort. Good luck.

ya i have a mac not a pc so I will have to get the usb plug in thingy I think...not the card... so that kinda stinks but oh well..... I am in an area and the other places I will be using it are also covered. I do want to make sure myself first though since its kind of expensive!!! The guy said I should get service about anywhere I go.... but if its a lower service area the net will just move slower. The only thing I was worried about is the connection speed or whatever b/c I can't stand pokey computers... i dont have enough time or patience!!
