Hi. I'm a proud GIT in the Granny thread. My name is Jennifer, but I go by Jenny or Jen or Mommy. I like to use Jennilynn here at DSP. (I've been called worse, but I won't share that here :D ) I have been married almost 9 years to my wonderful dh Eric. We have 4 children (who you will see much of in my layouts!): Lindsay 12 (from my 1st marriage), Dylan 8, Megan 3 and Sara 1 1/2. I am a SAHM (stay at home mom). I used to work full-time when my first two were smaller. We didn't like putting them in daycare so much, so I decided to stay home. Well, I guess I got bored, because now we have 2 more!

I collected paper scrapping materials for years. I piled heaps and heaps of materials up. Unfortunately, it was too hard to get organized, and I never made many actual pages. This was the first Digi site I found, and I have been hooked ever since!

We live in Las Vegas, but we don't do many actual "Las Vegas" type things. We live more on the out-skirts of town and try to provide a more regular family environment for our kids. Besides my kids and digi-scrapping, my main hobby is reading. I love books!

Okay, well that about covers it    I'm really looking forward to getting to know more about all of you wonderful grannies & GITS!

It is so nice to get to know you!! :) You don't sound old enough to be a granny :) :)

That's right Kim, she isn't old enough to be a granny. As Jennilynn says, she is a GIT which means that she is a Granny In Training. The Granny Thread also has Wannabe's who don't have plans to ever be grannies but who enjoy the company there. The Granny Thread is open to every one who is interested in joining in or giving it a try.

I'm a granny, step-granny, and almost a step-great-granny. (I'm WAAAAYYYY TOO YOUNG for that also!!!) I have two kids of my own (and two grandchildren) from my first marriage, two stepsons from my second marriage, and four stepchildren, and 10 stepgrandchildren from my third (current) marriage and will have a step-great-grandson in February. I had a variety of careers including most recently teaching and am now retired. (Yea!!!) My on-line home is here at DSP, primarily in the granny thread which you can find by clicking above on 'The Place,' then on 'Forums,' 'Ideas,' 'Grannies'

Great idea!

I'm old enough to begin social security checks in January but am not a granny any more. Our granddaughter was killed in a car accident in December 2000.

My DH and I have been married 41 years and have a 39 y.o. daughter.

My DH and I sold our house in San Antonio, TX in 2002 and have lived in RV ever since. We love traveling and have been to some great places. The Oregon coast, Alaska, all of the Canadian Maritimes, Capitol Reef NP, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore are some of our favorite places. We spend a few months in San Antonio every winter.

My DH plays guitar, washtub bass, and a little mandolin. I play mountain dulcimer. We are in a group in San Antonio called the Riverpickers. I am continually torn between my music and scrapbooking.

I'm Jill, (frequently referred to as EG or JillEG on the Granny thread) 62 years old , married over 40 years, three children- 2 daughters 1 son, 8 grandchildren -5 boys including twins boys 3 girls including twin girls. I live in NSW Australia, inland. I love to read, prior to my fixation with digi scrapping, I used to do lots of crochet and embroidery work and am a retired cake decorator, I do line dancing two to three times a week and I enjoy spending time with the grandkids. I've been with the Granny thread since page 1 and it is like a morning newspaper to me...I have to open it up every day and read it whilst drinking my coffee (which you are definitely not supposed to do whilst reading the Granny thread!!!!!). I have never paper scrapped, and fell into digi scrapping by accident when I stumbled into DSP searching for tutorials to learn about my PSP programme.

I'm Alice, 62 years old, married almost 41 years (in January). My DH and I have two children, a son and a daughter, two granddaughters (one almost 18 , the other one 19 months old) and two grandsons (one almost 15, the other 4). Our older grandchildren live about 20 minutes away. Our younger ones are 12 hours away in North Carolina. I was a school secretary/bookkeeper for 25 years, now retired. YAY!!! I paper scrapped in high school and I kept a scrapbook for each of our children when they were growing up. But, what I love most about digiscrapping is that there's no mess to clean up!

Hi I'm Mars. I have been married 34 yrs divided by 3. I have 6 kids. Only the youngest son, 17, still lives at home. Mostly I scrap the grandkids. My oldest daughter has a boy and 2 girls and my oldest son has 2 little girls. I also have 5 stepkids and 5 step-grandkids, an old orange tabby and a beautiful golden. Ever since I found DSP I have been obsessed with scrapping. I live on the west coast of Canada. oh and almost forgot, I live with olgrumpa.

My name is Crystal and a lot of people call me Crys. I will be 60 in March and long for the day when I can retire! (Tho I really don't want to wish my life away!) I work in the agricultural field, in a fertilizer manufacturing/distribution center. I've been married to my 3rd DH for 14 years.

I have two sons (33 and 34), four grandsons (4, 2, 6 mos. and 4 mos.)

DH has 3 children (1 daughter is deceased); 6 grandchildren, 4 boys and 2 girls, from ages 11 - 28; 6 great-granchildren, 5 girls and 1 boy, from ages 16 months to 10 yrs., all of whom he has willingly and gladly shared with me for 18 years!

Sam, our faithful beagle of 14 years passed away last October on DH's b'day! Since then, we have remained petless, which frees us up to do more traveling!

I've never paper scrapped; was never interested. DH is an avid hunter (of everything from mushrooms to raccoons) and one weekend while he was on one of his excursions, I found digiscrapping. I discovered DSP in 2005 but never in my life envisioned that I would ever in a million years "join" a site to display my LOs and/or chat!

But...boy am I glad I did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Lynnie

Great Idea :) Thanks, Jenni.

I'm Lynnette, born and raised in England, now living in US, and the mother of five children, one of whom lives in Heaven (http://www.silers-alley.com/chris/). Their ages are 35, 32, 26, 20, 17. Only the 32 (almost 33) year old is married, and to our very own GabbyGee1976. They are the parents of my three grandchildren. (11,11,9)

I work full-time and scrap full-time. I have a fairy tale family (Cinderella, Ariel, Alice in Wonderland and Wendy, to be exact)! My daughter is dating a REAL prince charming, one of her best friends is Snow White and another good friend is Belle.

My 32 (almost 33) year old works in tech support (90% of which is supporting my family computer network). My 26 year old worked for a book store for 7 years to save the money to go to school full time and be a history professor. He teaches music part time currently. My 20 year old I have mentioned in the fairy tale context and my 17 year old is an amazing piano player and composer of music.

My mother lives with us and she is fabulous.

And I think my husband is the most handsome scrubby of all. We have been married a long time (27 years).

I work in the computer software industry for a financial software firm in Southern California. I am a subject matter expert on mutual funds.

This is a lot of personal information to put up here :) Remember that we should be cautious with what we reveal. There are wierdos out there. Omi will tell you!!

I have been in the Granny Forum a long time...since Omi's first security warning. I am a 69 year old retired schoolteacher with 3 adult children and 2 step-children. The youngest of my children is the only one married and has given me 2 wonderful granddaughters.

My "Old Dear" and I have been together with separate homes for 30 years, since his son was one of my second grade students. 6 years ago I moved across the street from him into a house perfect for me. My daughter and her husband bought the home where I had raised my brood so now they live just 10 blocks away here in Michigan.

Right after Christmas, the Old Dear and I go to a home he owns in Florida for 3-4 months. We usually have lots of company and enjoy them.

This summer we camped at the Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan and met FulltimeRVer, her husband, and GranFran with her two doggies. Meeting others from the forum is SOOOO much fun! We spent so much time in the Cherry Republic coffee house on their WIFi writing and reading the Granny Forum we became the "Cherry Queens".

I have been a member of The Digital Scrapbook Place since it was only a month or two old. I have been scrapping in one form or another since 1958 working with construction paper and rubber cement. I went acid-free in 1995 and digital in 2002.

ok so I am a GIT and step granny to my partners grandchildren who due to distance I've only met once but loved them instantly.
I am 44 yrs old and have two daughters one who has just moved out of home aged 25 and the youngest who still lives at home albeit part time is 20. I work full time as a Senior High School teacher and I love my job except for one thing it interferes with my digi scrapping and chat time hehehehe.
I have been in a very loving and committed relationship with my partner Donn for 10 yrs we met online he lives in Texas and I live in Perth Western Australia and due to circumstances we haven't yet managed to live permanently together on the same continent but i make annual visits to Texas where I get to experience a happiness that I never thought was possible. He is the love of my life.
Other than that I cant wait to have grand children oh and i love dogs.

Hi all, Dags to my cyber friends here, but Jenny to my family here in Aussie land. I really and truly need to retire so I can spend much more time here but that is not going to happen anytime soon, as we still have a few overseas trips planned!!! Both myself and hubby love to travel! In fact we just love holidays, from tents to houseboats, to plane and hotels, we are not fussy.

I have been married for 29 years (note to self, don't forget the big one next year)51 years old with two boys, 33 and 23 and one grandson nearly three. Goosh I cann't believe he is nearly three, where did the time go??? I still have the youngest son at home as well as his girlfriend too. I cann't get rid of them. My fault, I keep feeding them and doing their washing. After the grandson was born I took up paper scrapping, but it was not long before I came across a digital scrapbooking magazine, and I knew that I wanted to learn how to do this too. So I ditched the old 35mm camera and got myself a digital camera. I was a big shot now! First hurdle was to learn how to turn on a computer! I had never even turned one on before, I was 49. How sad it that. Now you cann't stop me, I am on the computer all the time. It seems like only a short while ago that I joined here, but I now find its my second home, I have been known to be late for work because I have been chatting here!!!!!

Carma
11-16-2007, 06:49 PM
Well, guess it is my turn. I am Carma, 66 years old and have been married 47 years to my dear hubby. I helped him raise 3 children and we have had 2 together. Love them all as my own. We have 3 living children now, life throws some curve balls and we lost our two sons 4 years apart to automobile accidents. We have 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
I owned my own craft store business in Las Vegas for 12 1/2 years and then tried to retire....it was so hard to do but since I found DSP I have retired completely and enjoy using a digital camera and creating digital Lay Outs of my pictures.
I had never used a computer until about 13 years ago. I felt like I was being passed up by the whole world when everyone started talking on email and I didn't have a clue how to open a computer. So dear hubby got us the first one thinking it would never be used...much to his surprise I took to it like a fish to water...he wonders when I am going to come up now for a breath of air. This year he bought me a lap top and a new camera and so he has created a monster.....I am still using the PC also we got a year ago, and have the original computer we got first that I use for my machine embroidery work. Oh I forgot to tell you that I have 2 grand cats too. One daughter and her husband have two darling kittens. My husband has serious health problems and I have been pretty much house bound with him off and on for several years...so the computer has been my touch with the world outside. DSP was the
2nd place I found for digital scrap booking. A friend knew I was thinking about doing scrap booking and on a joke of sorts sent me a link to a digi lady that was starting to make her own kits and she had a link to DSP and here I am. I have been a member of the Grannie thread from very early on, I think it was in the first month. We laugh together:lol: , cry together:cry: , pray together:pray: , teach each other, These are my best friends, I went to the Las Vegas Laptop Crop and what a joy it was to meet some of the designers, owners, and faithful DSP members. What a hoot. :yahoo: :yahoo:
I have a dog named Fritz a miniature schnauzer. ..who is very active and may be the death of me...I have a hard time keeping up with him. One look out of his eyes to me and I melt.
I try to stay upbeat and think positive thoughts. My favorite saying is "The Sun Will Come Up Tomorrow."Now you know everything about me but my blood type....and I am not telling you that. LOL

JaeDee
11-16-2007, 11:15 PM
I am JaeDee/Joyce. I live in Northern Utah. I am married to a great guy for 35 years. We have 3 sons (33, 31, and 27) who married three wonderful women! Middle son is married to our DathaMary who posts on DSP. I have 5 beautiful amazing grandchidren!! 4 boys ages 4, 2, 2, 1 week and a girl almost 3). Unfortunately, one, my sweet Jonah, lives in Tokyo, with his mom and dad. I LOVE TECHNOLOGY. We visit over web cams most weekends.
We love to travel but I have to work 4 more years as a school librarian.
I never paper scrapped but I love this digi stuff! I have been addicited since day one!
I am a big fan of the granny thread, flat grannies, and DSP!!!

GranFran
11-16-2007, 11:18 PM
OK, now me. I am GranFran, and my name is . . . . right, Fran! I will be eligible for Medicare next September, a widowed grammy of one granddaughter who just turned 1, and mommy of 1 daughter who just turned 35, much to her dismay! I just laugh and tell her I'd turn the clock back to 35, but no farther!

My second DH was 19 years my senior (but I carded him when we started seeing each other 'cause he didn't look or act his age), so his DS and DD are more my brother and sister because of their ages, but their children I claim as my own grands. There is one DGS, 32, and 2 DGDs, 14 and 22. They live in Austin, TX and Raleigh, NC, so I don't see them nearly enough.

I am a former teacher, state day care facility inspector, state child protective services worker, and state contract manager. My second DH encouraged me to take early retirement so that we could travel (we met in a singles RV club), and we did until his health turned bad on us. He passed away in Feb of this year, and I discovered digi-scrapping, which helped me sooo much. I had never scrapped because I didn't want to keep up with all that stuff and clean up the mess, and with continued RVing this is perfect for me. I have two dogs, both rescue mutts, whom I adore and they love to travel with me. Everywhere we stop is "doggie Disneyland"!

I so enjoyed meeting Crys and Karen (and her DH, G) and Laura (and her OD) this past summer, and hope to meet more of you in the future. In fact, in January I'm hoping to get over to Austin to see my DGD and her family :D and meet Scamp and 'run' south to San Antonio to see Karen and G again. Laura has become a very special friend because I had a pulmonary embolism while visiting her and TOD this summer. She not only took me to the hospital at 2 a.m., but cared for my dogs until I was released. And visited me several times a day and brought me whatever I asked for and pictures of my pups and a beautiful get well card that all of my friends here made for me.   Laura

Oops, I think I've gone on long enough! Somebody else take it from here. And thanks, Jen, for setting this up for us!! Glad you've become a GIT!

11-17-2007, 06:49 AM
Ok my turn!!!

I'm a GIT. Married for 6 years and have 2 children (DD 4, DS almost 3). I started late in life with having children and have just turned 40... (EEEEKKK, that's the first time I've had to admit that I've crossed over from the thirty something era  ) I'm married to my second husband, whom I adore and couldn't imagine living without.

I used to be a very active, sporty person, playing hockey, softball, squash etc. but tore a ligament from my spine to my pelvis so had to give up all active sport. I do now play golf when I get the chance and scuba dive which has become my passion.

DH and I are living in the Middle East while he's working on a contract which comes to an end at the end of March. We don't particularly want to return home (South Africa) right now, so are desperately trying to secure another position within the Middle East.

I am a SAHM, but used to be an Executive PA and before that a Veterinary Nurse. My passions are animals, and would love to return to the Veterinary field on a voluntary basis when we eventually do live in an environment where animals are acceptable ;).

One of my other hobbies back home was dog training. I trained my own two Golden Retrievers in Breed, Obedience, Carting and Field. My prize Golden obtained 1st places in C Class (the highest Obedience Class), 1st place and chosen as Gun's Choice (the dog the guns would actually take on a proper shoot, and not necessarily the dog that gets placed first :)) in Field. I made him up into a Breed Champion and also a Carting Champion. In 2003 he competed against all the dogs in South Africa and became the South African Carting Champion for 2003 up seating a dog which had won it 3 years in a row. He was very ill on the day of the competition, and I had wanted to withdraw him, but the judge said that if she saw he was battling she would tell me to stop. Unbeknown to me, he already had bone marrow cancer, and six weeks later I had to send him to the Rainbow Bridge to wait for me. The worst day of my life!!!!

Before I became a SAHM, I had wanted to do paper scrapping but never had the time. When we arrived here, I had the time, but not the resources . Then a friend told me about digi scrapping, so I googled it and found DSP a year ago!!! Here I have managed to make some good friends whom I can take with me any where in the world. Since I joined DSP, my other hobby of Photography has taken off, along with my scrapbooking.

I think I've waffled on long enough now... its someone else's turn :)

Lindy here, 51 twice divorced mom of 2 and granny of 3 and one more on the way come late spring. My DD has the oldest GS @ 11 and he posts LO's here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?ppuser=98944&cat=500) occasionally, usually when he's grounded off vidio machines, LOL. Next is an 7 yr old GS and his sister who's 6, and they're my DS's kids.

I started paper scrapping around 2001, it proved too expensive, so I switched to digital around 2003. There wasn't much to choose from back then, way better stuff now. I joined DSP in Feb of 2005 but didn't really get involved till Oct of 2006 and it was the Granny thread that kept me coming back and participating in challenges and things.

I'm one of the ones the Grannies keep trying to choke with red threads because I go AWOL every now and then due to a chronic pain disorder. I'm looking for another place to live right now, so I probably won't be on the site much again. Not sure if I'm staying in OH or going back to PA, what ever works out first.

I have to say it just amazes me that our "Grannies" are so talented, loving and caring!
              to all!!!

Scamp here, and yes, I have a ‘real’ name too. :D

I registered with the site long before I ever got involved, but once I caught on, I was hooked! Posted my first layout back in February of this year, full of trepidation and not knowing a thing about challenges or chats. I had tried to get into the paper scrapping bit—love paper, and stamps, but it just didn’t gel for me. (Bought a bunch of stuff that I now don’t need!!) Can’t believe it hasn’t even been a year, and DSP and the Granny thread have literally changed my life.

I work for the great state of Texas, and live in central Austin with my black cat, Ting, in a cozy little apartment. I fell in love with NYC when I took the kid for his graduation present in 2003, and go as often as I can find a cheap flight and wrangle the time off from work. (I’ll be there next month!! :yahoo: :yahoo: Dec 21-27, if anyone’s in the neighborhood!)

I’m a bona-fide granny; I have two darling grands  now living in Japan with their wonderful mom, and my baby grand  is in Big D. The grands are by way of my older two sons, and I also have a daughter and youngest son (the kid).

I got to meet grannies in Las Vegas, and have gotten together with JaeDee in San Antonio when she and her DH flew in for a visit. What a treat! I’m looking forward to meeting up with Karen and Fran soon (!!), and am going out to Anaheim in February, whether there is a DSP crop or not! and will meet up again with grannies I met in Las Vegas. Like I said, this thread, digiscrapping, and DSP have changed my life!

(Maybe I should add what I used to do before digiscrapping…I rowed on Town Lake, both in a single and an eight. Arthritis in my wrist now makes that difficult. I still do family history--love the research aspect, and am involved with the local genealogy society. There probably were other things that have fallen by the wayside! :D )

On to the next poster…

Well, I'm the security conscious Omio who has now been lured into the cyber-life by DSP and the grannies. Still tend to be very vague with details, e.g., like Scamp, I have a real name but generally use it only in PMs. Grew up in Oklahoma and California but have moved around most of my life and lived all over the US.

Still happily married to my college sweetheart, have a grown daughter and son and (thanks to their choice of spouses) also beloved bonus son and daughter. Five beautiful grands ages 20, 13, 8, 6, and 5 -- four princesses and one motorcycle dude. Feel blessed beyond measure by my family.

Was a junior high math and computer teacher for 30+ years and adore junior highers but have been retired for nearly ten years and love that, too. Currently president of a scholarship foundation and spending many hours giving other people's money away. Also unofficially help my DH with the non-profit whose board he serves on. We had always planned to "give back" when we got older and retired -- both just shocked to discover that "older" has arrived.

Spend two days a month with a friend who is a devoted paper scrapper and tried hard to get me interested. Began teaching computers in the 1970s so I kept telling her that I would become a scrapper the day I could do it all on my Mac -- and then I found DSP and my creative side!! :yahoo:

Have been fortunate to be able to attend both the Anaheim crop in January and the Las Vegas crop in September -- both times were like walking into a family reunion. (Considering my constant warnings to DGKs about Internet safety, it got a little dicey to tell them I was traveling to meet my cyber-friends, though. :love2:) Still finding it hard to believe that I feel so very close to my DSP buddies but am so delighted to feel like part of the club. :love3:

RoadMap4Us

Deb / Roadmap here! Roadmap is kind of a funny on-line name for me since we really don't travel much at all. It's part wishful thinking for geographic travel; and part a reflection of how God creates my life's roadmap!

I'm happily married to my high-school sweetheart and we have an adorable daughter who is now grown. She is also happily married and they have two kids who are the subject of most of my LOs ! Oh, and the adorable daughter? Well she hangs out around here too and tempts us all to buy her wonderful products (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=70) in the DSP store!!! (That wasn't too obvious a marketing ploy, was it???)

I was born and raised and still living in Iowa although I have traveled a tiny bit in US and Canada. I work outside my home for a financial services Fortune-500 company. Since I work each day in a fast-paced boy's world, I LOVE digi-scrapping which gives me a chance to be 'girly' and creative and goofy and .... well, 'real'! It's a nice counter-balance to my work.

My 2008 goal: Travel to one of the DSP gatherings (probably the Grand Rapids one in June) with a laptop (oh, that's my other goal).

This was a great idea to get our 'bios' out here! Now we'll know who we are!!

Ineke
11-19-2007, 06:56 AM
How interesting it is to read everyone's background history, we are such a diverse lot, yet we all get along well!

My name is Ineke, I am 55 years of age and married to the same man for 34 years.I live in Melbourne Australia and have 2 sons, the eldest is 30 and still single and my youngest is 27 and lives at home with us. He is affected with Muscular Dystrophy, so life can be quite a challenge for all of us.

I enjoy all my social activities, which include line dancing, rock and roll and also I play competition tennis. Through these activities I have made some wonderful friendships.

I got involved with Digital scrapping through Dagwood who is a friend of mine from linedancing, I was always admiring her scrapbooks and thought I would really like to give this a try as photos have always fascinated me, especially old family ones. So of course as soon as I started I was hooked and it has also been a great way of meeting and creating friendships amongst us all.

I have been privileged to meet Jill (Evergreen) when she was in Melbourne to visit her children and also Kay and her husband Howard when they were traveling through Australia.

I love traveling and have made some wonderful trips throughout the years, would love to be able to do a lot more one day!

:yahoo: :yahoo: My turn. First, thanks Jenni for reminding me to come and post on the thread, and thank you for starting the thread. I am 68, and have been retired since 2001. My last job was with the water department in the small town I live in, before that I worked in the parks department. I loved my work with the city, always interesting people to meet. My dh and I have been married 48 years! We have four children, 2 boys, 2 girls. But only one grandchild and she is the love of our lives. I call dh and Shea (dgd) the team supreme. All she has to do is call him on the phone and he is putty in her hands. Love watching them take off in the truck to go and see her horse. Especially now as she is learning to drive, dh has great patience with her, I get just a little uneasy and she laughs at me. I started out paper scrapping, but when I discovered digital scrapping I "scrapped" the paper and didn't look back. My daughters still paper scrap so they always know they can come to Moms for supplies. I really enjoy the grannie thread altho I can not keep up like the others. I only have 24 hours in my day, I think some of the others get more!

NanaClaire here or otherwise known as Nana to my grandkids. I'll be 60 next month! Hubby and I have been married now 38 years. We have 4 grown children. Our oldest daughter is now 34 and after her came her 3 brothers, ages 29, 28, and 23. We also have 6 grandsons and 4 stepgrandchildren. On top of THAT, since 2001, we began raising 3 of our grandkids (present ages: girl 14, boy 8 and boy 5) which keeps things pretty hectic here at home and another long story! Of our 4 children, 3 of them are married. Our middle son lives in the San Francisco Bay area with his wife and son, whom we miss a great deal. Our youngest son is father to a 3yo (he sees often) and a 7yo, whom he/we never see but he has met a very beautiful young lady whom he will be marrying next year. Our oldest son is the father of two of the grandsons and stepdaughter we are raising; long story short is that he and his wife were unable to provide a home for their children and now, in the present economy of Michigan being so bad, it has made things more difficult. He is furthering his education through an online college source, however, and hopeful to be able to do what he needs to do.

For over 30 years, I worked in the secretarial field. I don't consider myself retired until my husband retires but I quit my job as a secretary at GM to open a craft store in 1995, closed in 1998, and I haven't worked since except for a seasonal job inbetween.

I was born and raised in Rhode Island, married at 21 to a "sailor from the US Navy" and moved away from home for the first time. Hubby was from Michigan and we ended up here in 1977. Between the two of us, our kid's heritage is a Heinz 57! I am Scottish, French and Indian while hubby is Polish, German, and a slew of other nationalities we need to get on paper from his mother!

My hobbies have been ceramics and breeding pekingese dogs, the previous two I no longer do, and then found digital scrapbooking. I started paper scrapping but almost immediately learned about digital sb'ng at which time I dropped the paper scrapping like a hot potato!! I have been digi scrapping for several years now but never seem to have the time to learn all that I need (or want) to learn. Oh, and you'll notice most of the layouts I post are of my grandkids living here and once in a while of the others living with their parents.

We live in the Metro Detroit area. Being pet lovers, we have 2 Pekingese dogs, 3 cats and a guinea pig I unwillingly inherited.

I really want to travel but until hubby can retire, I don't see much of that happening. Maybe some day we'll win the lotto that hubby so much believes he'll win!

OK, I guess I'm up. : )

I'm Vicki, (a GIT) and wife to my best friend for almost 17 years and mom to 7 (expecting #8 in June). My oldest DD is going to be 14 in a couple weeks and the youngest just turned 1 about a month ago. (I just turned 39 in September.)

We live on a farm in NW PA just SE of Lake Erie which puts us smack dab in the middle of the snow belt where we shovel off about 13 or 14 FEET of snow each winter. We have cows, pigs, chickens, sheep and a horse, a couple of border collies and some barn cats (number varies from day to day ; ) DH, besides being a farmer, is a Senior Software Engineer and works out of his home office so he can go gather eggs on his breaks.

I've been scrapping for many years and have a closet and a half full of supplies! It got to the point where I was doing a lot of my pages on the computer and printing them out and gluing them to my page. I asked my DH for digital scrapbook software last Christmas and he bought me Scrapbook Max (which came loaded with several kits by Lauren and Kim!). While reading a scrapbooking magazine, I saw an ad for an online site that had free digital scrapbook elements, so I went on line and found that site and then started searching to see if there was anything else out there. I registered on a few sites, but when I found DSP in February, I was "home". It felt like I was a new girl in school and when I got here, all the other girls came over and gathered round and ushered me around and welcomed me into their group. ; ) So that's pretty much it. (I don't even d/l freebies from other sites anymore - this is where I belong. )

In my life BC (before children), I was a Legal Assistant, got my paralegal degree, then left the law field to be an Assistant Marketing Director at a large bank in Pittsburgh. When I got pregnant with my first child, I left the bank and started my own Graphic Design Business with the bank as my biggest client and then picked up another large bank and several other businesses. I did that until #3 was born and traded my ink for thread and started an embroidery business. Since we bought our farm, I've hardly had the sewing machine out and I'm back to my love of graphic design, only express it in a fun, personal way.

I enjoy scrapping family events - my kids give me lots of things to scrap, but I also enjoy turning my family genealogy into scrapbooks. My family loved passing my heritage album around at our family reunion and many have requested copies, so I'm trying to find an inexpensive place to make color copies.

Let's see - what's something most of you don't know about me? Hmmm....my Dad is a pastor. I'm Scotch/Irish, but my DH is Slovak. 5 of my 7 children were born at home - 4 were born in the water - 3 were born without a midwife, caught by their Dad. I homeschool 3 of my kids. The oldest goes to Christian School.

Our family presents a live nativity each year for the community on our farm. (People ask if that's why we keep having babies so we always have a baby to play Jesus. )

I did a page for T42 a couple weeks ago about "Things I Love (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=223494&ppuser=81914)" which pretty much sums me up.

I think I love DSP so much because 1) I can communicate with adults 2) I don't have a job where I get paid or recognized for what I do, so DSP gives me praise and recognition for my accomplishments which makes me feel very appreciated and loved :love3: 3) With all my responsibilities at home with teaching, taking care of the family and farm, I don't get out much to do things with my "real life" friends. DSP gives me an opportunity to hang out with my friends on my own schedule. and 4) The greatest people in the world hang out at DSP!!! :yahoo:

Now that you've all finished a cup of coffee while reading my intro, I'd better sit down and let someone else come up and talk.

Love ya, girls!

Impy (affectionately named by "the other Vicki" )

Greenfingers
11-19-2007, 01:31 PM
Well Jen nudged me into this and if for no other reason, I'll tell you a bit about myself to help unravel the muddle which some people get into between Evergreen Jill and Greenfingers Jill. At 63, I am 1 year older than EG and we both use PSP. Like EG, I found DSP from a search for tutorials and was soon hooked. I have always enjoyed dabbling in crafts, but especially enjoy creativity without the mess.
I've been married to a dear man for mmmm let me work it out- yes 25 years. We started the marriage experience late in life, so have just 1 daughter 24 years old and no signs of becoming a granny for the forseeable future:( I must admit that I pop in and out of the granny thread spasmodically. With a rather slow internet connection, each page takes an age to load and there are only so many hours in the day.
Most of my working life was spent in medical research which I loved; but retirement has many compensations, not least having time to spend at DSP with all my wonderful friends from around the world.

Victoria
11-19-2007, 03:02 PM
Well Jenni came and nudged me too. I too have another name, but post using Victoria, which was a name my mom had picked out for me, before she decided on my given name.
I'm a retired medical lab manager from a fairly large hopsital , where I had worked for nearly 35 years, before I retired 9 years ago, so that makes me 65, and collecting pension. I have been married for 42 plus years to my dear husband, who I first met when I was 17. We have 2 beautiful married children a son who just turned 42, and a daughter who is 36. Our son has a 15 year old daughter, who is often featured in my LO's, and our daughter has a 7 yr old girl, and a 4 yr old boy, also often seen in my LO's.
I paper scrapped for about 8 years (have tons of supplies left) and then discovered digi scrapping. I joined DSP in early 2005, but kept trying to "use up " my paper, before really committing to posting on-line. I finally just gave up the paper in the summer of 2006, and became more involved with dsp when I participated in the Heritage Theme week in Sep. 2006. I found the granny thread in about November, and am so happy I did. This has been a great way to meet people all over the world. I was forunate to meet Dags and her dh (Jenny this past June) during one of her trips.
I am a cancer survivor (6 years) and my DH has serious health issues as well. This is such a loving and caring group of friends, who enjoy the laughs, they will provide cyberhugs, pray with and for you, and truly inspire and cherish each other.

thank You Jenni for the nudge. And to Omi for inviting me to the thread. We met in NKOTB . I have been a very bad GIT lately... I've been taking 2 different photography classes at a somewhat local community college about 50 miles from me. So, my nights have been busy...

I'm 52 ( I think... I lie so often I really hafta think about that age thing !) and have 3 adult(?) children.. Robin 25, will complete her respritory therapy program in May 08She lives in Worcester MA with her "boyfriend" whom I think is lower than worm dung. I love her dearly and see her fairly often, ( full time school and full time work doesn't leave her much time ) but we don't talk about him at all. My son Tim, 22, is finishing his Master's degree in physical therapy in May 08. He is tall, handsome and has a quick, dry wit that usually has me rolling on the floor with laughter. My youngest, Buddy, is 19 and a Microsoft certified computer technician and network installer. Also tall and handsome, he wears his heart on his sleeve. So, in my old age I'll have someone to clean out my lungs, keep me limber and keep this laptop running at the speed of light . LOL. I am a dental hygienist of 32 years experience, working in a general practice here in RI.

We live in Rhode Island not far from the stadium of the the Pawtucket Red Sox...farm club to the Boston Red Sox. We are all avid Boston sports fans.

I love digi scrapping!!! No mess, no fuss... limitless creativity. I tried paper scrapping once, loved the final product, but really hated the mess. I found this site, fell in love and seems I've never left.

I enjoy reading, quilting, "chilling" with the kids, but my biggest passion is photography. I went digital 1 year ago and the passion to just get BETTER is like a flame in my pocket !!! Most of my neighbors are the models and utimately recipients of many photos and layouts.

Now that education is coming to an end, along with all those big bills, I hope to combine my current passion (photography) with a long standing desire to travel more- with the kids and without. Hawaii with the kids, Austrailia for me. Ahhhh dreams.. they ARE the stuff of life !

Well, I guess I've rambled on enough.. someone else's turn .

11-20-2007, 12:59 AM
Consider me nudged and thankful too! This thread is a lot easier to keep up with!

My real name is Sue - my friends call me Susie, but having that as a username has been impossible. People should stop naming their girls Sue and their boys John (I'm married to one)! So that brings me to my username.

In 8th grade, there were three Sues in my class. The teacher decided she would only be able to keep us straight if she called us by different names. One Sue remained Sue, the second Sue got Susie and since my last name started with H, she switched my first initial with the last and called me Hoozie S***. Many years later, when I tried to sign up for an email address I typed in every concatenation of Sue, Susie, Suzi, SuZ I could think of. As a last resort, I remembered my name in 8th grade and tried on hoozie. There was already was a hoozie!! (a guy too! http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d142/hoozieg/razz.gif) So I added a "g" (for my married last name initial). Contrary to popular belief, it's not pronounced Hoozig, it's Hoozie G.

Now, about me. I am 54 (gulp), married to my high school sweetheart for 31 years and have a lovely (IMO) soon to be 19 yr old daughter who started college this fall. A little empty nesting here http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd317/JakesNana/Miss%20You-Get%20Well/th36255F2255F59FEELING20BLUE.gif We also have two dogs and 3 lovebirds.

We live in beautiful Montana, "The Last Best Place." My DH works at the university here two days a week for now and then drives 1 1/2 hours to a nearby town to teach at another college three days a week. As soon as the semester is over, he will be commuting full time until we can sell our house and move. I was working as an Admin Assistant until a month ago when I got laid off due to lack of work. I should have more time to keep up with DSP now, but I'm now responsible for getting us ready to move, but we're not in any hurry. Thank goodness!

I started paper scrapping in the mid-90's and collected TONS of supplies over the years including rubber stamps. But I was hesitant to start a page when I couldn't finish it uninterrupted and that didn't happen very often.

Going digital meant overflowing my computer with photos. I had to do Something! There had to be a way to scrap on my computer! I bought Picture It! and made a cheesy layout that was so difficult getting the photos to look natural, I didn't try again for 2 years! I then purchased PSE 3 in 2005 and did a search for scrapbooking online to learn how. I found several sites, downloaded all the freebies I could find and away I went. Instant Addiction! Got PSCS2 very quickly and love it. CS3 for Christmas?

DSP became my fav because of the super nice people, excellent information and great designers. I joined SNL in it's second week, helped name it and eventually became it's host. I so enjoy the camaraderie here...the help, support no matter what the reason. I even flew to Las Vegas to meet these wonderful people! What a trip!

So I am a GIT even though I'm old enough to be an actual grannie. I love all you guys! It's so nice to get to know you!

Hi - my sign in name is photoqueenphoto, but my "real" name is Fran. I go by
PQ FRAN so that you won't get me confused with Granfran.

I am married to Doug - my (usually) wonderful husband who makes me laugh everyday. Doug's claim to fame is that he is an MD that is board certified in both pediatrics and anesthesia. Every now and then he will say, "Let me see......when I go through my third residency......" And at that point I scream, "Your turn is up! No more school for you!"

We live in Billings, Montana and have 5 beautiful children and 2 adorable grandchildren. Our children are Ryan (30 - xray tech. Graduated --- laude from a private college in Iowa. He went to college on a combined academic and soccer scholarship), Shannon (28 - research assistant/lab manager at University of Colorado. Stem cell research for parkinson's disease. Graduated magna --- laude from University of N. Iowa. ), Erin (26 - undergraduate degree in music performance. What can you do with a degree in music performance you ask? You can answer phones at a realty office.), Andrew (16 - my high school sophomore who has a wicked sense of humor. He is also just as anal retentive as they come and a 4.0 student taking advanced placement chemistry and biology), and Bia (13. One of the gentlest, kindest people on the planet.). I openly adore my children - everyone deserves to have at least one person on the planet that adores them, and that is my job.

Ryan is married and has 2 children - Ella who is 2.5 and Olivia is 1. His wife, Annie is an RN.

We also have 5 furry children - Belle (toy poodle), Amy (standard poodle), Sadie (toy fox terrier), Candy (dachsaund), and Indy (bichon).

And that is my life in a nutshell. PQ FRAN

Well, thanks for your "gracious invitation " Jennie. I am yhalos and my real name is Yolanda. I have been married for 36 yrs. to my high school sweetheart. We have two children a boy 32 and a girl 35. They have given us three beautiful grandsons.
I'm still waiting on the girl.. I would sooooo love a grandaughter. We moved to
the Caribbean 33 years ago from New York City.

Now my DH and I have an empty nest which I feel more times than I would like..:(
But the kids live close by and I get to see them all often. I have a shihtzu named Frida who is my faithful companion when I am home. My other passions are painting, reading and I crochet to relax.

I've met some wonderful ladies here on the grannie thread whom have helped me to get through some tough times. I don't come around as much as I'd like but I'm still
here behind the scenes...you gals mean a lot to me.

Thanks Jennie for the "nudged"......

I finally remembered to come over to this thread and post. Now what to say? (That is a first for me, not knowing what to say)

I am another GIT in the granny thread, since my oldest is only 11 and I better be in training for a long time to come still. My sweet dh and I have been married for 13 1/2 years and have 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys. (11, 9, 7, and 4 in a couple of weeks) I have so many hobbies it would take forever to list, but I am/was the January spotlight, so you can go there to read more about them. How is that for lazy?!

I'm also new to digital scrapping but I'm such a computer geek, this is perfect for me. The paper scrapping just didn't work.

LOL I could be a granny since DH (my highschool sweetheart) and I have been married 20 years come this September but alas we started a little later in life with our family ;) My name is Mandy and I'm a GIT :D I'm also a SAHM/WAHM, doing the day to day operations of a business my DH and I own. So when I'm not running after a very active toddler (who will be 3 in March ) or doing work for our business, I'm living in front of my computer scrapping my heart out.

My LOs are mainly of our daughter Megan who is my little poser  LOL but I find I can't not scrap pictures of her because there's always so many good ones - the girl just does not take a bad photo. Hmmph - wish she would rub some of that off on her mama!

I was like scamptx in that I signed up on the DSP site waaay before I even attempted scrapbooking (paper or digital). I really got hooked back in Mar-07 and can't imagine ever picking up and using any of the small stash of paper scrapping stuff given me when we were in the adoption process for Megan.

One of these days I want to attend one of the DSP crop events if I can just convince my DH that I NEED to have a laptop. LOL of course first I have to convince him that our business just needs to develop something for a laptop so I can do an R&D purchase

This has been super fun to learn a little more about my DSP friends!!!

Hi everyone. I am a newbie to both digiscrapping & the granny scene. It also looks like i am the youngest granny here too. I am going to be the big 4-0 this May & have a beautiful grand daughter who just turned a year three weeks ago. My daughter (Selena's mom) is now 21 & her little brother will be 18 in May. My son is a senior in HS, so will be scrapping a sr. prom & graduation before long.

I started digi scrapping for the grand baby's memory book. But since the death of my nephew(last week) I am working on a tribute album of him. He was a vol. firefighter at the marry age of 23. He died in the fire of his own home. Anyway make my living with a stuffed frog on my head..LOL. Well I'll do about anything to get the lil kiddos to smile for the camera. Yes I am a pro.... photographer. (hmmm... not sure about the pro part....feel kinda stupid when I have a froggie on my head. ;))

Anywhoo... nice to meet everyone. I hope to get to know you all a little better as time goes on.

MorningSong (What a beautiful name!) Get yourself over to the granny thread:

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=575

Be sure to read the poem on the first page, then leap to the last page, unless you have months and months of time on your hands, to read from beginning to end! :D

Just jump right in -it's a fun, loving, supportive, silly, question-answering (well, you might have to throw a *Jill EG* sized fit, but usually our questions all get answered) outrageous, caring group and all comers are welcome. You may be a very young granny, but we have lots of GITS (Grannies in Training) and Wannabees (self-explanatory) who are young, so you'll fit right in.

Pop on over; you're welcome any time!

Hi,

Im Judy alas Gram2nic. I am officially a Grandma and loving every minute of it. I have been married to the most wonderful man for 35 years. (we got married VERY young!) We have three children, a daughter (who blessed me with the beautiful grandkids) and two sons. I am Grandma to Nicholas 5, and Jacob 1. I am also a SAHM to our two wonderful Golden Retrievers.

We just moved to NC from Virginia and have firmly planted ourselves on a very quiet lake. Now I am finding myself with a lot of time to do scrapbooking. My daughter got me interested in scrapbooking a few years ago and needless to say I went crazy buying stuff. Now I discovered the wonderful world of Digital Scrapbooking and all those material items are sitting in my closet, untouched. I'm glad I found this place as I do not have a creative bone in my body much less any artistic talent, so learning here and getting ideas is such a blessing to me. I feel like I am actually accomplishing something!

Hope to get to know some of you soon. Sure wish I was going to Las Vegas with all of you but we just took a trip there in Septemeber. Still recupperating from my losses if you know what I mean.

Hi, my name is Merrie DeVoe. I am new to digi scrapping, but, have done paper scrapping for 18 years. This is a challenge. My hubby, Mick, and I have traveled full time in a motor home for 10 years and are starting to settle back down now. Summers in Michigan and winters in Mission, TX. A really good life. God is good. We have four children, 11 grandchildren and 4 greats. All of them are gorgeous, talented and smart. Of course!!
My best friend, Fran Vogt, (aka GranFran) is getting me started on this. I need lots of help. Played bingo Friday night and had fun. You folks are a HOOT. I, also, know Laura Bashlor (aka Lauraloub). That's all for now.
Hugs, Merrie

That's why your name sounds so familiar! Please forgive my senior moment.

We are in Palmdale, FL until Saturday. We'll be near Savannah, GA by the 6th and in between will stop to visit LL and St. Augustine. We'll then work our way up the coast and will be spending the summer in Canada.

We will be in the Maritimes this summer - mostly Nova Scotia and Newfoundland with a bit of New Brunswick here and there. We will also visit Ontario next September on the way back to the USA.

We will be in Utah in 2009 and definitely plan to spend a few days in your neck of the woods. The tentative plan is to spend the month of May in Torrey (Capitol Reef area).

I guess I did this backwards by jumping into the Granny Thread before introducing myself.
My name is what it says, no tricks  I am 57 (OMG I said that in print) and I have been married to the love of my life for 35 years. We live on the Canadian prairies (Saskatchewan) and enjoy our beautiful summers but do escape our long winters by spending time in Maui. We are only about an hour from the U.S.A. border. I think I can reach out and touch some of the grannies.
We have two beautiful children. Our daughter (31) is married and has two large, undisciplined dogs which I call my grandpuppies. She is a social worker and works in Child Protection. Our son (28) just graduated with his Masters of Architecture and finally the bank of mom and dad can close. I am a GIT and have placed my order for grandchildren and I am waiting for it to be filled.
I taught at the elementary school level for 25 years but am now retired and finding there is life after teaching. I was the computer rep in the school so it was a natural progression to land in digi scrapping land. DSP was the first site I found and like everyone else here, I was hooked. I enjoy reading but seem to be choosing more technical subjects these days to expand the learning curve.
I purchased a Canon XTi this past summer and now have found a new passion and addiction to compliment my digi scrapping. I didn't realize the camera was the cheapest part. I have already purchased two lenses and a new scanner. I just love digi toys and am lucky that my dh suports my passions... well mabe not all the late nights . I joined PAD to learn more about photography and met some awesome members.
I got to know some of the Grannies here through SPAD in February. It was a wonderful photographic opportunity and helped to put names and faces together. I am looking forward to chatting with all of you and getting to know you on a more personal level. You gals ROCK  !

Hi, bethliz! My name is also Elizabeth but I used to be called Liz. I was in the fifth grade when my friend's younger brother threw a salamander in my lap and started calling me 'lizard.' I was afraid that it would stick, so I got out a dictionary and looked up all the alternative nicknames and announced to my teachers and classmates that, from then on, I'd be Beth. Welcome to the Granny Thread, GIT. (I've introduced myself a few pages back).

P.S. Don't worry about keeping up, which is impossible for most of us, but do jump in and chat whenever you can.

Well I finally came over and got to know all of you. So about me I was born in Central America and came to the US for college and meat my dh who was also from CA.

We know have a 4 yr old girl and a 2 yr old boy who you will see in most of my layouts. I love taking pictures and that is how I started scrapbooking to begin with but me and although I love paper scrapbooking it just takes me too long so when I found digi scrapbooking and the undo button, I was hooked. Plus digi is a great way to send pics of my kids to my family that is all CA. I am a SAHM soon to be a homeschooling mom. I have been at DSP for a while but only recently joined the Granny thread and am having a blast reading up on all of you. Anyway have to go get ready for the day. Great to "meet" all of you.

I guess it's time that I finally did this. I got a nudge from Jenny but still didn't add my info. Sorry! I'm a little phobic like Omi. Robbie is not an online name it is a nickname that I have had since I was a baby. (Long time ago). I'm married and have 3 kids, 2 girls and a boy. All grown up. I have three grandchildren, 2 girls and a boy as well. I grew up an Army brat and went to school in West Virginia, Kentucky, Texas and Nurnberg, Germany. I have done a little traveling, have been to Paris, Canada (BC and Nova Scotia), Mexico & Ireland. I retired from a telecom I/T department a few years ago. DH is still working; he works for the same telecom company. When he retires we will do more traveling. We are trying to decide were we will go when we retire. We're too old for Canada, so that's out of the running. My DH has loved Canada, especially around Victoria since he visited there when he was a kid in the Navy. We checked their website and they don't want retirees too much strain on the medical system which is understandable. We still love Canada even if they won't let us move there. LOL! I'm also a paper scrapper and have a whole room full of stuff, I still like it and will not give it up but to be honest I do spend more time with digi-scrapping. I babysit my youngest granddaughter 3 days a week and she keeps me hopping but I love it. Never a dull moment with a 3 year old. That's enough about me, she you later in the Granny Thread.

My DH has been reading up on immigration and it seems even with all the land they don't want retirees as they may put a strain on the medical system. Boo Hoo! I guess we'll just have to be happy to visit.

Well I've been a lurker for some time now with the grannie threads. Last week when I saw the LO exchange done I was Tressss jealous LOL so here I am. Let me share a few things about my life.
I am 53 yrs old *coughs* but seriously feel 30 hehe! Married to my hubby for 4 yrs who is straight out of Wales and we live in our old home which we're rehabing..room by room. I work fulltime in a local hospital in the Labor and Delivery dept. I just started there a few months ago and it is Truly the job of my dreams! Helping to bring life into the world is just such a blessing and I love going to work. I've played around for years making graphics and various stuff with PSP7. I still use that version because Im afraid to try and learn a new one lol. I've always been "crafty". Quilting, cross-stitching, knitting and sewing for my children when they were little among other things. Right now, with going back to work fulltime a few years ago I don't have the time to do alot of stuff; but have fallen in love with Digiscrappin! I feel very fullfilled creating memorys with the photo's I take. Loveee it! I have 4 children, 29, 25, 22 and 19. I am also stepmom to 3 boys in Wales, Gethin, Thomas and Lewis. I am a devoted Grandmother to Hailey; who shows up frequently in my LO's! Hubby and I also love doting on our two kittys, Elvis and Sassy. They are darling companions. =)
So. I hope to get to know some of you better and figured this was a way to do that!
Now; I've got to run. I have a LO on my mind which I've just GOT to create...byeeee!!

Nice to meet you Jody. This is a crazy but lovable group. You need to be a speed reader in the granny thread just to keep up with all the laughs and trials and tribulations of grannies and GIT. Jump right in anywhere as I have learned you never really ever catch up.

Betsyfru
04-25-2008, 10:04 AM
Well, I'm going to jump in here and introduce myself to the grannies. I'm going to turn 60 this year, but I don't think of myself as a 60 year old... Betsyfru is a combination of my first & last names. My given name is Elizabeth, too! I changed my name to Betsy when I was 13 because we were moving to a different town and I hated the nickname that I'd had since birth, so I told my parents I was either going to be Beth or Betsy and I'd let them know when I decided which one I was going to be! I've been Betsy ever since!
I've been here for awhile and have read some of the granny thread, but didn't know how to join. I'm also intrigued with the granny flatties, probably because in my former life, I remember reading Flat Stanley many times to my 1st, 2nd & 3rd graders in my elementary school classes for 29 years! I retired from teaching in 2001 and now I'm kind of an administrative asst to the executive director and the board of directors of a non-profit organization. I spent 29 years in a classroom and now I have a job that lets me do a little traveling, which I LOVE!
I have been married to my second DH for 15 years. We have 2 children each, all boys, so we have 4 boys between us (30, 30, 32, 37), and 6 grandchildren - 1 boy (14) and 5 girls (4, 6, 8, 9, 11), whom I scrap all the time. We are also living with 2 furry children, Harley and Dave, our kitties, who also show up in my L/O's frequently. My hobbies are reading, digiscrapping and photography. I used to sew a lot but have since given it up except for mending. I still cross stitch a bit now & then. We have a 28' travel trailer and we love to camp. We may end up as full timers after we both retire in a couple of years.
I never really paper scrapped, but have been tethered to a computer since my Commodore 64...I have always been trying to find a way to do more with my photos and my computer, so when I discovered digiscrapping, I was in heaven! I have always liked taking photos, but didn't really get serious until I met my DH in 1991. He'd taken some photography courses and had lots of camera equipment, so I wanted my own camera so I could take photos too. Started with a P&S and quickly discovered that I couldn't do what I wanted to do unless I had a SLR. Then, we found digital cameras and have not looked back since...
I was a bit hesitant about posting on DSP, just hung around for a while in the beginning, but now I can't seem to stop myself! I love this place and I love getting to "know" everyone here. I love creating pages and posting them here and getting that fabulous feedback!
Well, enough about me. I hope you'll let me join in! I'd love to meet some of you but this group is so far-ranging! It's amazing!

Hello!
I guess I am a GIT ;)

29, German, engaged to a lovely American, living in Belgium.
Godmother of a pesky 2 1/2 year old, and sad that he, his 4 year old brother and his mum/my best friend moved back to the States in January.
I still get teary eyed every time I think of them

I just finished my 6 years in the German Airforce, almost 5 of them with NATO in Belgium, and am a Full Time Student with UMUC Europe now, will graduate with my AA in Business Management end of May, and working my way towards a BS in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice.

I never paper scrapped and just been digi scrapping for about 3 weeks. Got addicted fast, let me tell ya!
But I've been making Icons for Livejournal with Photoshop for a while now, so that gave me a headstart. Everything I know about Photoshop I taught myself, either by trying out or reading up on it. I just upgraded to CS3 a couple of months ago, sometimes it is nice that my fiancé is a Graphic Artist :love2:

Well, I guess that's enough for now.... Hello again!

Hello Ladies. I signed up for DSP a long time ago but have just now started digiscrapping. I let my PSE linger on my laptop for a long time before I got into it - something about "layers" blew my mind. Since I have used CorelDraw before, I should have thought "color separations" and I would have been OK. I have already posted 2 of my pages for CC.

I was laid off from my job as a data analyst in Sept 2005. Since then I have become a full time chauffeur for my grands. My DD has 3: DS17, DS12, DD10. If you are "around" me long, you will hear alot about them. I also take care of my mother who is 86.

I have 2 dachshunds and 1 Jack Russell terrier. My day revolves around letting a dog out, letting a dog in. Repeat over and over.

ETA: I am an avid couponer.

Hi, I also introduced myself in the granny thread first. Here is the fuller story.
I'm almost 33 so I'm a GIT. My DS is almost 8 and my DD is almost 5. Don't know about yours, but mine are fighting a lot, but love each other dearly. I'm married to the best man (10 years in November). I'm living in South Africa like Kay and Sandy (previously) and Meryl. Love the weather here and the nature. Don't think I would trade it for anything else.
I registered to DSP a very long time ago, but is now only starting do look at it more serious. I've bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 just now and enjoy it tremendously. I still love the paperscrapping that I've started in 2002 (I think). Love to create with my hands.
I'm an Industrial Engineer, but has been a SAHM for almost 8 years. I love computers and do some programming in Visual Basic when somebody asks me. Thus digi scrapping is great to learn, combining my computer love and creating.
I get in trouble about the gigs that I used up the past few months, mostly on DSP. Maybe I must give up some of my scrapping budget to buy a greater cap.:)
Thanks to everybody that made me feel welcome already. :) :)

Hi, I'm Leea :) I've been at DSP about 6 months. I'm 51 yrs. old, my dh and I have 4 kids that are grown and married, and 3 grandchildren. My first name is Lee, but most people think of Lee as a man's name, so online, I just add the first letter of my middle name and go by Leea (sounds like Leah).
I got into digital scrapbooking when looking for elements for making bookmarks...I hadn't considered making layouts for photos (and I still often find myself focusing on the kits and what's in them, then hunting for photos to go with the kit) but started digiscraping and having fun.
I really enjoy having a place to get my photos out of the computer photo album to where they can be seen by others with the same interests, and also to see other members' layouts and photos and read about what they mean to the person who created them, and learn about the things that interest other members...see photos of their families, pets, events, flowers, landscapes where they live, and places they've traveled :)
Leea

Well said. Welcome, Leea! Also, main rule: don't drink whilst reading the Granny Thread, lest you have a critter to blame the leaks on, and are prepared to suffer the results of a ruined keyboard! :D :D

Now, come on up to the main house and jump right in.  :yippee:

WHOA!! I am SUCH a baaaaad GIT!! :( I can't believe I never posted my 'about me' in here! Gee, now I don’t know where to start! :p Of course, it doesn't help that I had to take a 'forced' hiatus for 6 months, either!

Sooo, bear (bare?) with me while I try to stuff as much as I can into a small space…. :D

My name is Shawn and I am 36. I go by Dixie Mama for various reasons. I am Southern to the core, embrace the 'laid-back' simple life of a true Redneck and am proud to admit it. I tend to be a LOT on the sassy side, but I don't feel that my day has been completed unless I've made at least 1 person laugh or feel better by the end of the day. I wear my heart on my sleeve, am a devoted friend and find it difficult to forgive those that exploit that. ONE of my personality flaws that I'm trying to overcome. I have been divorced once and remarried in 2000. My Hubby, Lee, is a truck driver with 13 years of rubber & asphalt under his butt. :D  His handle is 'Hammer' and mine is 'Dixie Cups'. (don't ask! ) He tests me to my limits, as I do to him, but at the end of the day we just cannot picture our lives without each other. I still get 'butterflies' every time I see him or think about him! I have been a SAHM for the last 5 years and I find that it has been a love/hate kind of career. But I'm blessed to be able to be here for my children and I know they will be better off for it. I plan on attempting to get back into the work force once our youngest starts Pre School in the fall of 2009.

I have 4 gorgeous children: my daughters - Summer Nicole (15) from my 1st marriage and with whom I've recently been reunited after an 11 1/2 year separation (she lives with her father in MA) and Rhyan Kenna (9) who is my little drama queen; and my sons - Tucker Phillip (4) who brings me on an emotional roller coaster on a daily basis and Morgan Jock (3) who has instigated the growth of my very first gray hairs. They make me laugh, cry and scream - often in the same day. Every day with them brings me something new to learn about parenting, children and most of all, myself. I also have 2 adult step-children, Kristie (22), and Jay (20). I love reminding Lee that there's a 17-year spread between his oldest and his youngest, and continually ask him just WHAT he was THINKIN'.

I started out using PSP 8 & Animation Shop 3, while trying to learn about graphics and animations at another forum, then upgraded to PSP X. Paper scrapping was out of the question with such 'inquisitive' children, so I found DSP while Google-ing for digital scrap booking information. I had originally joined as Pixelpixie71, but lost my login info, so re-joined as the gal you see today. :D Recently I've begun to learn PS CS2 and utilize both of my programs for their different attributes. I often switch between them during a layout to get my final product.

I think it was PQ Fran who lured me over to the GT while I was in NKOTB 8, and I've been hooked and wrapped in their loving read threads ever since. :love2:

Oh my…now that I've written a small manuscript, I'd better shut up now. I love you all!!!

xoxoxo
Shawn

PS....regarding my siggy name...I have also been adopted by both PQ Fran AND EG Jill!!! Now it has become my goal in life to meet my 'Mamas' IRL.

Hi Dixiemamma and thanks for sharing the info. My brothers are truckers, so I hear all about the trips. My SIL became a trucker as well, so they could be together on the road after the children were all grown up and married. She has great scrapbooks from her photos on the road. They used to haul from Vancouver, Canada to Miami, Florida, to Toronto and anywhere and everywhere in between. They criss crossed the continent many times over.

That's very cool, Vic!! My friend, Karen, and I are trying to talk him into moving to Canada ( I was raised in Southern BC, and still call Langley my hometown :) ) and get into the industry up there. He's 'thinking' about it...it's a big move, but we want to raise our children somewhere safe, and I have the best memories of my life up there!

Well then we would be neighbours Dixie, as we live in Surrey, not to many miles to the Langley border. Lots of trucking available here.

Also Hi Leea. We have already met in the gallery.

Hi everyone!
Just a very quick (...for me...!) line to announce the arrival of my very first little granddaughter, Ada!
She's so beautiful I can't look at her without tears threatening. She's the image of her Daddy Antony and he's as besotted, if not more so, as my daughter Bev with their little angel!
I've had her overnight and for odd afternoons and when Bev's popped out shopping and it all came flooding back. I admit I was a bit scared I'd lost the touch to begin with!
She's having a few digestive probs but you can't advise the kids over here (UK) these days because the 'powers that be' (...health professionals...) have them on such a guilt trip if they waver from instructions. I'm afaid mankind as a species would have died our centuries ago if it had had to stick to the mandate our kids are given on 'how to raise baby'. And my Bev's an intelligent woman too!
I can only watch and wait.
Gal

I guess I am a Granny in training! (A GIT? That's what my grandmother used to call someone she thought was not so bright. a silly git!)

My name is Marty, and I'm new to DSP. Someone gave me a link to this forum so I thought I would stop in and say hello!

Anyway, I live in beautiful Glasgow, KY, sister city to Glasgow Scotland, and a very proud Scottish town. Our high school band members wear kilts, our mascot is the scottie dog (so menacing!) and bagpipe bands abound. Unfortunately for me my husband Robert is Irish, and so we don't get to have a clan tent at the yearly Highland games! LOL! We love it here, though, and have beautiful scenery, only 15 minutes from Mammoth Cave.

We have 5 children. Jessica~17, Kiefer~16, Ashleigh~12, Simon~11, & Marian~9. We love to camp and hike and fish and do lots of family things, so I am never short of photo-ops!

I hope to be a granny one day (hopefully later than sooner) and I'm certain that it will be the most wonderful time in my life! My own grandmother (Mamaw) is suffering from failing health, and I have so many fond memories of her and all the summers we spent together. I can only hope that I give my own grandchildren wonderful memories some day.

Well, I'll drop in as often as I can. Thanks for this neat forum!
Blessings, and have a great week!

Hi everyone-
Someone PM'd me about the granny thread so I thought I would check it out. My name is Sherry, I am 43 and live in beautiful Williamsburg Virginia.
I've been a granny for 22 months now, but prefer Grandma Shi-Shi. I've been at DSP since 2005 and love it, but took a break for awhile (not sure why)- but I have my granddaughter Lexi all to my self for babysitting once a week so with all the photos I am taking it has geared me up again. I am so loving digital photography and take toooo many pictures- I wish I had this when my own daughter Brianna was growing up...

I am working on a "yearbook" type album for her 2nd birthday along with a "history of my daughters life with horses" album for Brianna and now with Meryl's chats have dived back into a family heritage album. A little overwhelming but oh so much fun!
So I think I will stick with using PSE6 for now, the CS3 program seem like more of a learning curve than I can handle at the moment.

Looks like I have alot of reading to do in this thread to catch up, but looks like it will be fun, looking forward to getting to know you all.

Sherry, I've been seeing you around as I comment on layouts and you've very welcome also. I hope you've made your way over to the GT, also!

Fresh faces are always welcomed!

I'm a mother to two sons; grandmother to 4 grandsons, 4, 2, 9 mos and 7 mo and a maniac behind my Nikon D70s, so you can imagine................

I've been married to my DH 15 yrs in one week from tomorrow. He's such a sweetie to share with me his 3 children (one deceased), 6 grands (2 girls, 11 and 28; 4 boys, 26, 26, 26 and 22) and 6 great grands (5 girls, 2, 5, 6, 8 and 10; 1 boy 8). We don't see the great-grands as much as we'd like, but we do get a few pictures now and then. So........... you see, scrapping could be a full time job for me; but unfortunately, I'm still working. (Well someone has to buy bait for my retired DH, right?  )

Well ladies it was doing my head in as they say and as I new that I had posted an intro but and yes there is always a but  I put it in the grannies thread when I made a start on here. I have just done some detective work and looked around I have found my little intro. Here is what I said see below.

Hello to you all, my turn to jump in on this thread. First, thanks Lynnette for reminding me to come and post on the thread, and what a thrill we can hold hands across the pond big kiss. I have just taken my first steps from the Beginners Learning Digital Scrapping area lol. My name is Pat username Teecha as that name is what has stuck all my life from my late darling Mother. I am very new to digital scrap booking and am trying to learn as much as I can about it. We live in a small village called Glossop in the Peak district of Derbyshire England. My dh and I will be celebrating the big 50 years come August 2009 god willing. And yes it only seems like yesterday the years have just flown past. I may not come around as much as I'd like but I will try. We have three beautiful married children, Deborah 46 last week, Carl 44. Beverley 43 so all close in age and they all live a short stop from us so that is great. We have darling grandchildren and I am Nana too them. Our eldest Granddaughter Natalie is a serving member of the The Royal Air Force and we worried whilst she was out on tour in Iraq, and Afghanistan. At the moment she is in Cyprus but will return to the UK in a few weeks for a new posting. It would take an age to talk about our other Grandchildren maybe be some other time. Back to me I just love crafting, MY first love would be Parchment craft, but the neck pain now has taken over so it's gone on the back burner. I must say I can see why you all love Digital Scrapping and it's one I hope to get enjoyment from good job I have almost white hair as all this learning would have turned me grey anyway. I also love family genealogy so this is how I have found this forum as Lynnette and I made contact during our research. Thank you again Lynnette for sending the link to what seems to be a very happy place to come and hold hands for a while. Bye the way I will be needing many cyber hugs and hand holding in the coming months as our lovely dd Beverley has to undergo her 4th Heart surgery we do not have a date for this as yet. Well folks it's time I moved from this chair hope to sit with you all again soon. Hugs xx PS I do hope I am in the right place for posting this

My name is Sandra and my username comes from my initials - SE. I am an Early Childhood Teacher, which I absolutely love, and also a Literacy tutor for children who have difficulties with reading and spelling. I have been married for 40 years to my dear husband.
We have two children. Our son is an Architectural Draftsman, not married yet but in a committed relationship with a gorgeous girl. He is a state and national coach of volleyball, always travelling somewhere for a championship. They are both off to live and work in UK and Europe in a few weeks, so I will miss them hugely. Our daughter is married and lives in Melbourne ( we hope to move back there next year). She has two children - a two year old daughter and a son three and half months old. Most of my layouts are based on them!
I have done most forms of needlework (my passion is fine heirloom embroidery), love classical music, reading, and now digital scrapping.

I look forward to getting to know all the Grannies.

Hello Everyone! I'm Wendy. I am new to not only this thread, but to DSP in general. (Ya'll just floor me with your LOs!)
I live in the high desert area of Southern California in the town of Apple Valley. Our only real claim to fame is this is the town where Roy Rogers and Dale Evans lived and died. They are buried not to far from where I live.
I am the mom to 2 girls and grandma to another 2 (the joys of my life so far). :love3: Unfortunately, all of my kids moved to Montana earlier this year, and I miss them terribly. (They either lived with me or near me up until March of this year.)
I am hoping that when I get my scrapping skills up and running I can do pages to send back to everyone and let them know that I love and miss them. (As well as keep me "out of trouble" so to speak.)
I'm glad to find you all!

Well, I just turned to page 65 in my new Digital Scrapbooking" magazine. After reading the "terrific" article I realized that I would love to join this thread. I joined DSP over a year ago. I have no idea why I didn't check this thread out before now.
My name is Rosemary. I'm 65 years old and have a wonderful husband, two children and two granddaughters. I have lived on a Key near Sarasota, Fl. for the past 15 years. Before that we lived in Ma. Fortunately, all my family lives near by now. I love photography, reading mysteries, cooking and trying to learn Photoshop. I love digital scrapbooking too. At the moment though I seem to be in a major rut and feel quite discouraged. My creativity seems to have gone out the window. When I see what most of the "Grannies" produce I wonder if I will ever be as imaginative. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

If you don't mind me asking, what part of upstate NY are you from. My parents were originally from Northern NY (Ogdensburg) near Canada. And I was born in Buffalo. We still have family in both places.

Hi, everyone -
I first registered here last Fall but have been busy trying to teach myself more about digi-scrapping. Doing better, will post some of my layouts as soon as I get a chance.

I'm a grandma of 6, ages 27 (almost) and 4 (almost) - quite a spread. I'm 65, retired and have been using PSE to fix photos for quite a while and finally realize I could use it for scrapping, too! (duh) I attended a scrapping retreat in Clear Lake, Iowa last Fall and the rest is history.

I've been a traditional scrapper for about 8 years and now that I finally have the perfect scrapping room all to myself, I'm into digital. What will I do with all the supplies I have? I've been inviting a couple of people I know who are traditionalist to come over to my house to scrap and use up my supplies - they'd have to work all day, every day for about a year to put a dent in my supplies. Anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome, JC! Get over to the main grannies formum ASAP. Don't worry about being confused, just jump in, act as though you know what's going on and pretty soon you will! Someone has likened it to a Soap Opera, which has a ring of truth!

We laugh, love, pray, encourage and tease, among other things...

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13201 - read the poem in the first post, which started it all, then jump to the last page and introduce yourself. (In case you haven't already done so!)

Hi there everyone, I have just come across this thread whilst looking around this wonderful site.

I joined DSP about last year about September or October and have done a bit of digi scrapping but I have not got right into it. But I am still trying to learn things everytime I come on here.

I am 57 years old and live with my DH in Shellharbour, on the east coast of Australia. We emigrated from Leeds, England in 1971 so we are really Australian by choice and have a piece of paper to confirm it!!

We have two children, a daughter aged 37 and a son aged 35. We have 6 gks and 1sgk. Our daughter lives with her four only 1 km away and our son lives with his wife and stepdaughter 4 hours drive away and his ex partner and our 2 other gks live 3.5 hours away. Life is sometimes so complex.

I am a breast cancer survivor of 3.5 years and appreciate life greatly.

I retired 18 months ago having worked in Administration at the local Health Service for 22 years or so. Still getting used to retirement and eventually will love it, I think.

Fairly new to digital photography but will keep on learning to do things better and use Photoshop Elements to correct my many mistakes!!

Nice to meet you all, see you on the Granny thread where I have already been visiting for a while.

Thanks to everyone for the nice welcome. I feel a bit of a fraud because I have already been over on THE thread a bit but only just saw the introductory one and I think it would be really nice to be shortened to Gto7.

As for the crop in May in Queensland, I did think about it but I do not think I am going to be able to make it. Due to a few things we are a bit short of cash at the moment and my dh has just had knee surgery, not serious stuff, but it has caused him to have a fair bit of time off work so he is a bit restricted in getting more time. I have suggested it might be a good time for him to have a week off on leave up in sunny Queensland but he is only going back to work on Monday so we will have to wait and see.

bye for now

I have been using the forums and Challenges for a couple of weeks and remembered the reason why I came here in the first place, The Granny Thread. I am Grandma to four ages 5 to 12 and have been doing traditional scrapping for several years. I have been teaching myself digital and use PSE although I used PSP to edit photos for quite a while. I don't know what I am going to do with all the stuff I have!

I'm a grandma to 5 boys, ages 5, 3, 1, 1, and 5½ mos and 1 little adorable girl, 7 wks. Also, step-grandma to 2 girls, 12 & 29 and 4 boys; 3 @ 26 and 1 @ 24, plus 5 great-granddaughters, 11, 9, 7, 5, 2 and 1 great-grandson, 10. Also, twin great-granddaughters due the end of Sept. WHOA! That tires me out just typing it all! :D
