In preparation for December's Challenge!

Thought I'd start a thread where we could begin to collect ideas for our 'theme' in December. Not that Christmas is likely to be 'overlooked' but maybe some of you will have inspirations for New Year's ... or maybe just some 'cool' wintery greeting cards for our loved ones who happen to celebrate birthdays during the winter (well...winter in the northern hemisphere anyway...)

For the GCCers who do not participate in SNL ... you might want to go check out their gallery to see some of the items you'll be given in your MegaKit this month. These colors will definitely lend themselves to a wide variety of themes. Can't wait to hear what you're all thinking!

Anyone think it would be fun to come up with a 'hyridized' greeting card-slash-recipe card ... something that can be used as a greeting, but contains a family favorite recipe ... I don't really have that worked out in my head, but winter hibernation gets me focused on food...which lead to recipes...which leads to ... well...yeah...you get it!

Any other crazy ideas?

What would you think of us focusing on anyone of the following:

Only masculine
or
Retirement
or
Welcome Baby
or
Humourous
or
Cards with at least something from nature (a bird, a tree, a flower, etc...)

I can work with any theme, however I'd prefer if we do babies that we have a second option as well. Pretty much everyone we know is done having babies and their babies are not old enough to have babies. Well some of them are they just better not. ;-)

Love the idea of a card/recipe in one.

Just now found this thread, Linda. I will put a note/LO in the Gallery - do we have a new sharing place/password? Have also changed my GCC blinkie to link to here so anyone can hop on in!

I think a theme is a great idea especially when it comes to looking for a card to use. I don't cook if I can help it but am happy to send inspiring, or maybe fun, recipes to my friends. Masculine and Nature also have a strong appeal...

Any of those themes would be fine with me- I especially like the nature and recipe card ideas. :)

Reading your posts I see that recipes and nature are appealing to you, so ...............

Let's do a Recipe Greeting Card theme and as a BONUS ... anyone who includes 'nature' in their design somewhere will be given a fun-little-kit made Just for Lovers (...remember...Valentine's Day is just around the corner...right?!!!) We'll all have a little 'jump start' on our Valentine's Day cards and/or scrapbook pages!

Be creative! I have my first Recipe Card all done (can you believe that!). It's a hybrid ... I'll try to get a photo in the gallery by this Friday. I'm up to my elbows in an office remodeling project for one of my clients so there's no time to take the photos right now. (In fact...this is my last post for the day...gotta get out the door in 20 minutes and I'm still in my pj's! Luckily today is 'painting day' so the fancy hair & makeup won't be required ... that's always a happy thing for this gal ... comb and go ... yay!)

Put on the coffee, some 'creative mood' music, and let's see some 'TASTY' greeting cards in the gallery!

NOTE:
If you are NOT an SNL contributor please send a PM to me or to SPOTTY and we'll get you access to the MegaKit for this month. There are some GORGEOUS items again the month that you'll want to include them in your design work!

If you are an SNL contributor...download all the items from the SNL site ... have fun!

Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

I'll have my first one done in no time. I'm going to convert the LO I did for the cookbook into a card. Why reinvented something already finished? I'll get some more done I'm sure. Cards are so much easier than LOs. Ten - fifteen minutes and you have something you can proud of and call finished.

Well, Christina, ably leads the way with her mouthwatering recipe and great card.

The NEW Dec sharing site is now open so PM me [not Linda for now ] for the URL and Password.
There is just the contributions folder at present as the contributing SNL members names are listed in post #10 of this forum and you will already have their kits. If you missed out on the SNL upload this month then PM me and I will work out how to get kits to you if you want them - better still look at the SNL site and let me know which of those from our list you are interested in having.

Meanwhile anyone can use their own work or DSP kits - DSP and SNL credits need to be given and also accompany the sharing cards combined with TOU in the zip file...
File naming = your user name_GCC0712.

Anyone counting down to Christmas yet? :santa:
Cannot get my head around it as sent off major presents early November...

I'm counting down now that the Crazy Christmas sale has started. I'll upload my SNL kit and AOP for December when I upload my card. Here's the kit (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=229588&cat=500&ppuser=59380) and the AOP (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=229602&cat=500&ppuser=59380). We did a winter theme and for our friends on the other half of the world I did an AOP of warmer weather stuff.

Just a quick question .... is there a minimum limit to the number of cards we have to make?

mommabyrd2003

No minimum. Some people do 4 or so while others do 1 or 2. Whatever you are able to get done and share.

Just a quick question .... is there a minimum limit to the number of cards we have to make?

Muma...not sure if anyone answered your question (and I was 'out' ... had surgery...difficult recovery...ugg). We don't have any minimums ... we want to encourage ANYONE to come and play! Please DO consider joining us this month! I've started a new thread for January. We'll collect everyone's ideas for our January Challenge, then post our final theme...probably Jan 10.

The idea is to have a general THEME each month. We can use SNL 33 (if we want) or any other kits (personal, DSP, other...) to make the cards. Cards do not have to follow the theme of the month, it's just a suggestion. Details are in the top post for this group.

I'm going to be visiting my mom (who doesn't have internet...) ... leaving this morning, back Jan 9 I hope....but I'm sure the rest of the group will be happy to help you jump in! Now that the holidays are behind us for awhile we'll be more active:tup:

OOPS!!! I see Christina already answered your question...goodness me!

How fun Sue! Sorry I'm slow getting to the gallery...been a difficult month at my house! Can't wait to see what we all get done during January! Come to the new thread and share your ideas for our January theme:yes:

Oh, Spotty!!! I wanted to let you know I used your greeting card (from Oct) for my mom's birthday card and she LOVED it!
The only thing I did was take out the Greeting and I then added a real 'fake' flower to the outside, over the ribbon. Very cool card!
Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know, Scrapmel. Sounds like the way we were treating our card's in Meg's DSU193 hybrid card class - which was great fun!
Which gives me an idea for GCC - upload our sharing files with some of the elments and WA in seperate files... will have to work on that.
Glad your Mum liked it.
