We were all new once to digital scrapping. What advise would you give a newbie that you wish you had known?

Never forget that the computer really is your friend...dispite it's often tempermental attitude, at times it's complete defiance of instructions, even the occasional strike, remember kicking it & throwing it out the window will get you no further than where you started. :D
Oh and yeah and HAVE FUN!!!

Dont be afraid to ask questions! And to try all of the tutorials available!
I totally agree with Margie- I was so frustrated in the beginning but my mom helped me out and it finally CLICKED! Now I just love digi-scrapping!
There are two choices to avoid frustration, this goes for every new skill. Either is fine, depending on your personality!
1: Choose super easy projects and just learn one new thing each project
2: Choose harder projects and accept they will take longer
The only rule is don't get frustrated: take your time, find someone to answer your questions (that's us!)

My advice would be to always scrap for yourself - do what you like best not what you think the current trend is - and also to stick with one programme for a while till you learn it thoroughly - rather than try to learn 3 or 4 programmes at once

My thoughts have all been said I second all of the above - maybe add one more - don't spend too much time downloading everything exciting you see, eventually you spend so much time unzipping, floldering, organising that you don't have the time to scrap! go for quality rather than quantity!
The one thing I wish I had caught on to earlier is to develop a style of my own instead of copying others that I like....I spent my early days of scrapping trying to be like everyone else, never feeling comfortable with anything I was doing..now that I feel like I have my "comfort" style I enjoy it much more!!!!! I still will always try other styles, I dont want to limit myself, but other styles seem harder to do for me!

I would say to try several programs to find the one you like. You may not master one overnight, but each has a different feel and you can find the one you WANT to master. Also... don't be afraid to share your work! Some of my early digital scrap pages were published, before I thought they were any good! Share, share, share!
