Here is the 'rule' for Photo A Day (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2387) for anyone wanting to join in posting a photo a day throughout the year :)

Your photo must be taken and posted on the same day, if you miss the deadline for posting your photo for that day, but still want to upload it, then please post it to the Photography Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=506)

I have a question. (You are lucky it is only one. ) If you miss one day in the month, are you supposed to just post in the other gallery until the month is over? or is it ok to pick up the next day? Thanks!

Chris, you post in the other gallery, but the next day you post in the PAD gallery..then indicate in your comments that you posted in the photograhy gallery, so we can find it....

Yep Chris, Avril is right its only the day you missed that you post in the other gallery and really its only when there are prizes, it just makes it too hard to sort through 100's and 100's of photos to find who has posted everyday :)

OK, thanks! :D I am amazed how hard it is to take a picture every single day! Partly cuz I have to take multiple to get just the right one. :) Also trying to decide what to shoot is a major decision for me. Not very go with the flow am I? LOL The good news is it is making me look at everything as a potential shot and I am loving the results, plus I am practicing more, so I will keep struggling through and thanks for running this.

I s there a theme for each day or each month?

Karen

No Rosemary, for PAD it is your choice of what you photograph :) now for the Photography Challenge held every 2 weeks there is a subject given :)

What about different timezones? While it shows up posted on the right day for me, for viewers in more eastern timezones it may show the next day. If I am in the Pacific Standard Time do I have to post before 9 pm?

Karen

We work off DSP time Beryl, much easier if we are all working to the same time :)

Hi Mama de Kateli, yes Photo A Day is still going, when you are looking for anything to do with Photography have a look under Photography - General Photography Posts (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=6)in the Forum and you will find everything you need :)
Same with the Photography Galleries they can be found under Photography (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=506) in the Gallery :)

PAD is perfect for that, Carolyn! You don't need to wait until the beginning of the month either, you can jump in anytime!!

Karen, I am getting pretty frustrated as I only have a digital camera and I can't even change the f's. I have tried my sons's new digital camera as on that I can change the f between a very limited f8 to f3.7. Can also change the numbers 1/1000 to 0.8. I feel like I have no chance of improving my photos if I don't have the range of the DSLR - but that 'little' treat is a long way off for me yet. I really am not at all happy with any photos I have taken today. Do you think it is worth my while continuing? Seriously thinking of giving up the PAD until I do have a DSLR. Perhaps I am just a bit despondent because I can't see anyway I can improve my shots. Sorry to be whinging.

Oh no don't give up, just keep practicing :) you're not whinging and I know it must be really frustrating to feel like you are not improving, but you will, work with what you have and try and master one little thing at a time, work on focusing and composition and you will gradually see improvement, we all have times when we feel like chucking it all in, but you just have to get your camera out and keep taking heaps of shots :)
Don't loose heart we are all here to back you up :)

I have been feeling like my photos are not good enough and that somehow I would never be as good as some of the others on here then I read this
http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/howto.htm How to Make Great Photographs

and it reminded me that I am not taking photographs to impress other ppl to sell them or to be the best photographer ever that I take photographs because I love to do so it gives me pleasure and I get to capture wonderful moments and events in mine and my families lives.

This challenge sounds like a great way to get those camera reflexes in shape. Sometimes if too much time goes by between camera uses I feel very rusty and forget where all those special adjustments are located. :) I hope to get everything (photographically speaking) back in shape by doing this over the next month and started today. Thanks!

I just posted my first picture even though it is late in the month. I am hoping to take some better pictures tomorrow if I don't get to post the others tonight that I took earlier today. I hope I posted it in the right spot.

Well I just got into Utah so I haven't had a chance to post many pictures before I left. I am having so much fun with my new camera that I'm not really doing the self-portrait challenge as much, but still wanted to show off the pictures I take while I am down here before my surgery. Here's the one I took on Sunday and one I took today:

Mount St. Helen's (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=244735&ppuser=104189)

Bridal Veil Falls (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=244948&nocache=1)

I wanted to thank everyone on my husband's behalf for the bridge picture "we" posted yesterday. I thought it would make a beautiful shot and he did do an amazing job taking the picture. Also, thanks to everyone for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I get to go home from the hospital today....thank goodness! I'm still pretty sore but I am so ready to get out of here it's not even funny. I'll be in the Provo area for about the next month for anyone that wants to meet up.

Hope all is well Poohbear!

I would like to join the PAD challenge. Is this the thread we post to every day or only to the gallery?

sands_healy

Caprimom.... you just need to post into the gallery, and not link to the thread. Karen picks them up from the gallery. The only "rule" there is really is to take a photo EVERY DAY and post to the "This month's" Gallery. If you miss a day, then you can always post it to the General Photography Gallery. In other words.... you are only allowed to upload one image a day into the "This month's" Gallery ;). Hope this helps... if not, just shout.
