Here's another sketch by me, loosely based on a layout by a paper scrapper friend of mine, Leah Killian.

The box sizes are 5 x 7 for the large one on the left and the other six are 3 x 5, but feel free to alter as needed.
Here's my example:

When you look at my example, you'll see that I didn't have enough photos for the full series, so I used a large element to complete the grouping and balance out the right side of the page. I'm not sure if I'm done though. The large amount of journaling seems to overwhelm the layout, I might have to break it up a bit. What do you think?
