I hope I can gather a few suggestions here from the digi scrapping community. I started digiscrapping about nine months ago, and I'm hooked. I especially enjoy printing out my 8.5 x 11 LOs. My problem, however, is my printer. When I strated scrapping, I researched printers and bought the HP Photosmart D7160 for about $140.00. Reviews were good, hubby likes HP, and in fact it was the only one of three I was considering that the two different stores I visited could get working! So, I bought my HP printer and LOVED printing out borderless 8.5 x 11 LOs.

Problems arose, however, when I started printing pretty intensively. I was making a Disney album for several family members and was beginning to print about 6 LOs a day (1 two pager, three times). Then my printer started printing with a red cast to everything. I called HP to troubleshoot, and after about an hour of test copies, they concluded it was a hardware problem, and sent me a new printer. Great! But that one developed the same problem. So, I called, they troubleshooted, and ultimately sent me a second new printer. So, this is actually my third HP Photosmart D7160 I've used, which ... surprise, surprise ... is now printing with a red cast again!

Needless to say, I'm pulling my hair out, and for Christmas I'm asking Santa to save my sanity and give me a new - different brand- printer. Santa (aka hubby) is willing to oblige, as he no longer wants to be my frustration sounding board. I've concluded that I print (in one sitting) more than the HP can handle, it overheats, and shorts out, resulting in the red cast. That's my theory - not HPs (they don't know why this keeps happening!). Too bad, cause when it was printing right, the photos were great - I loved everything about that HP printer!

So, after this long rant of mine - does anyone have any suggestions? I don't need an all in one, I don't need a large format printer, but apparently I do need a work horse that will print borderless 8.5 x 11 in mass without giving everyone a sunburn!

I have several Epson printers and much prefer those over HP (I used to be an HP girl exclusively). I think you'll be happy with any of them.

I just bought an Epson CX9400 Fax All-In-One a couple of days ago. Last night was the first time I mustered enough courage to print anything. Talk about POP! I've got an HP printer that I'll continue to use for work docs but the Epson will be my dedicated photo/LO printer. One thing to keep in mind with the Epson's they're built to print. Don't let them sit around. After your project is complete, you need to be printing at least one or two things a week to keep the print heads from drying out and clogging. I have had Epson's in the past and always had problems. But I didn't know about the print head thing. I'm really wanting this printer to last and give me GREAT print results. You can also check the Epson website. They have some great sales as well as rebates going on right now. HTH -c-

I have always had Epson printers and I LOVE them! I have the R220 (I *think* that's it... I'm not at home sitting next to it!) and it does full bleed up to 8 1/2x11 and it prints beautiful images. The only issue I have is the 6 different inks it takes... they're a bit pricey.
