Hello, All.

I quite possibly have the best husband. For Christmas he continued to add to my camera supplies with a Canon EFS 10-22 mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens. I had done some research on this, and was leaning towards the Tokina AT-X 124 AF Pro DX AF 12-24mm f/4.

I am very much a generalist in my photography - a growing amateur, so not sure how to perfectly answer the answer "how do you want to use the lens?" Of course, outdoor landscape shots, but I can also see a desire inside with groups and other situations.

Anyone had experience with both lenses? Comments? Opinions?

Thanks!

~Kathleen

I haven't got any experience with either lens but have seen some very cool shots with the Canon 10-22mm. Here are some examples from Flikr:

Hi Kathleen-
Went to B+H in NY about a week ago-played with both lens- and also wanted the canon 10-22 lens- ended up buying the Tokina 12-24.

For me price was a factor, I just recently got a 70-200 2.8 IS lens, so didn't really want to spend the extra money for the canon when I can get pretty much the same focal length on the tokina (at $150 less) which also has great reviews.

Can't beat canon glass, but this lens sure comes close. The canon is lighter, but is an EFS lens, which means I cant use it on a full frame camera. I shoot with a canon 40D, a rebel and sometimes film Elan 7 so I like everything to be interchangeable.

I am sure (based on all the reviews I have read) your going to love your lens, I use mine for landscapes, close up landmarks, and for a few select inside large group shots. (The wide angle takes a bit of getting used to for inside people shots, for me anyway). Enjoy!! (Awesome husband by the way..)
