I am so frustrated with this - when I look in Windows Explorer some of my .psd files show up black, not all. I've tried everything I can think of can't find out why - anyone else had this problem?
In case I have not explained properly, I'v attached a screenshot.

Meryl:
Hi: Make sure your psd files are flattened, should take care of the problem or save them as jpeg when finished.

Sorry dim of me not to have said - yes when finished i do flatten & save as a JPG, but, I like to keep the psd files as well & find it so frustrating that I can't "see' what each is with out opening up in PS. Just weird that some are fine & others are black!

Just my experience. Windows does what it wants to do, when it wants to do it....LOL
I us PS7 and some of my psd files will also show up when I view a file folder with thumbnails, but other won't...and it is totally random. Although, I haven't checked, it could have something to do with file size..doubt it, but a possibility. Anything is possible with Windows. :p
I know its not much help, but maybe it can give you a little less of a headache knowing its not your photoshop. Also, because they are psd, it can take longer to load and view those files. Have you tried waiting a minute or so to see if the finally show up?

Thanks Laura - so gld to know its not my Photoshop - never ever had the problem with photoshop 6. As you say totally random - file size makes not difference, some are small some are huge with show/don't show & not a matter of waiting either, tried that. Thanks so much for your answer!

I wish I could have given you a better solution though. Sorry bout that. Unless someone can come up with something better, I feel it is just a windows issue. :)

Apparently, this forum offers a fix. I haven't tried it myself, as of yet, but I will after ensuring it's safe.

Take into consideration that Adobe offers no resolve:

See what else Google has to offer on the proposed DLL install from my prior post:

Found this on the web:
For simply reinstating the "Thumbnail" display all you have to do is take a copy of "PSICON.DLL" from PS7 and place it in the following folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\"
If you have a system using PS7 the PSICON.DLL is in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\PSICON.DLL
This only enables the "Thumbnail" display to show the thumbnail.
The fix works in Win2k as well:
Just put the DLL in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\"
