We're going back to a sketch by CK's Becky Higgins for this month's challenge:

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/5062/2-pg-sketch_-Jan08.jpg

Play with this, then SUBMIT it for publication!!! Here are CK's details:

1. Using this sketch as a guide, create a well-executed, memorable layout to submit to CK. Please note: This sketch is for our July 2008 issue. You aren’t required to use seasonal pictures, but they are a plus.

Use solid-colored cardstock, patterned paper or textured paper—whatever works best for your layout. Choose the page size (8 1/2" x 11" or 12" x 12") you prefer. You can scrapbook black-and-white or color photos—it doesn't matter.

NEW!: We're now publishing single pages inspired by one side of the sketch as well. Let's see what you can do!

2. Special Instructions

July 2008 Instructions: Your main picture should be larger than all the others in this layout, and the first thing on the page that draws your attention. All the other pictures are 3” x 2” (or trimmed a little smaller, as shown in this sketch) and placed horizontally across the layout. Or maybe your pictures are all vertical. Whatever you want to do! Keep your design pretty close to the original sketch. The title and journaling should go wherever it works best on your layout. Due February 1, 2008

3. When your layout is complete, e-mail an electronic version to editorial@creatingkeepsakes.com. Be sure to include "Becky's Sketch" in your subject line. Note: Attached files MUST be less than 300K. Include a supplies list for the layout as well.

Have fun!

Wow, what a nice challenge to do. But I'm not sure if I should try...I guess I'll just do something and see how it turns out!

Came in here to post my LO based on the Becky Higgins sketch and nearly forgot to do so because I got so carried away looking at Meg's work! Good Luck with the submission to CK mag BTW.
Tried to fit four 3x2s across a 12" page but preferred to keep the white grid so compromised. It was nice to be able to photo journal the essence of the last 12 months which brought us so much closer together - hos and I that is.
Oh yes, my SPOT LO (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=235160) which also showcases patterned papers.

Well, I finally did it. Every month I say I'm going to submit but then chicken out. I just hit the send button and now I wish I hadn't. PLEASE give me CC. As always, I want to get better and don't worry, you won't hurt my feelings(much).

Here is my take on the sketch. I don't often do 2 page layouts, so it was more of a challenge for me.
