View Full Version : Prompts and Props: Chat Tuesday Jan 8 (challenge until Jan 22!)

Okay, the chat is set for Tuesday, January 8, at 10:15 EST, but due to the nature of the products featured, we are starting the forum bit now so as to give you a head start.
We are featuring, for this month:
Flowers in the Corners (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7328) Two Page Quick Click by Bethy Nixon
Double Dog Dare (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7331) Two Page Quick Click by myself.
As always, use either of those products to complete a layout (you don't have to use both sides of the qc if you don't want to) by January 22, and you will recieve a darling posting bonus of some word art created by Beth!
And that's not all - come to the chat on Jan 8 at 10:15 pm, and get the official "prompt" and a chat freebie, which is usually referred to as a "prop". You do not have to use the prop in any way for the challenge; it's just something for you. See that here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=232727)!
We are getting this one going early just because the features are qcs, and we thought you might want to use them in conjunction with other designer challenges to bulk up your bonus earning power, lol!
May we suggest, for starters:
Peace, Love, and Scrapping (http://digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28689) - Beginnings with Bethy challenge, and/or Spicy Nature Bogo Bonus (http://digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28718) Challenge with Z.
Now, you are not limited to those, obviously, and you don't have to use the prompt we will give you on Tuesday. Simply use either featured 2-page qc in a layout, link it back here to this thread, and we'll send you the posting bonus.
If you aren't doing a layout to serve double duty for other challenges, then please post it in the Prompts and Props Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=3634) with our proud thanks!
Did I mention the chat! See you at the chat, and don't forget!
PROMPT: Well scrappers, we had a prompt ready, but we are going to save it for next time, because we are taking our cue from you early birds this time, as you have done such a fantastic job of working with these double qcs already! So, the official prompt this time is; (as you all have been) Think about your event for a few minutes and come up with some stellar journaling - I have seen the awesome pages you have used Flowers in the Corner for, and they all have terrific stories. OR, try to scrap a whole vacation, holiday, or event in two pages - this is what we've seen for the Double Dog Dare, although you can do that with either QC. There just isn't any point in us changing your challenge now; we are too impressed with the gallery!

I've posted my LO to The Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=233845)using Elizabeth's Double Dog Dare QC. (Thank you, Elizabeth, for creating a QC with so many photo options! - I even added more... yikes!) But all the Christmas photos are scrapped on two pages...so that's great! (And I'm done...)
Great challenge. This was really fun.

Is it me? Or did anyone else have trouble with Beth's Flowers in the Corners QC not aligning up on "paste"? Perhaps it's a setting PSCS2? Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

What problems did you have Ethyl? Certain pieces or both pages? I did one and everything worked for me . . . maybe I did it different??
Were you pasting into a 12x12 or a 24x12 canvas? They should work on a 12x12 canvas. I did each side separately.

Hi Beth
Thanks for responding. It was only certain pieces that don't seem to paste right for me. For example, on page 1, the upper left flower pieces paste in the center. Also, the small squares at the bottom overlap each other.
I am pasting into a 12 x 12, the exact dimensions of the Layer 1 png.
When I select the flower parts (Control-T) in PSCS2 - I see that the parts are narrow, not 12 x 12 - could that be the problem?
Page 2 has a similar problem (for me) with the small squares at the bottom...
I'll be on the chat tonight if you want to correspond then. :) Thanks!

Chat was so much fun! Ethyl - Beth and I are trying to figure out why the qc didn't work for you. If anyone else had the same issue, will you pm Beth with what software you are opening it in? Thanks!

Hi my name is Tina and I'm addicted to Quick Clicks! :)
Anyway, I just posted mine from the Double Dog set. Sweetheart Dance (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=236654&ppuser=115337)
I finally dove into digi-scrapping a few days ago and found this site today. :) I love all these multiphoto templates.
One question - I was cruising past all the prompt and things when I posted the photo, and I just want to make sure my post isn't in violation of some rule. Am I allowed to use paper kits I got elsewhere for this? I credited it, but did not link.
Thanks!
Tina

I assume you scanned them in because they are behind the photos; I've never tried using paper kits! You may certainly use them, and if the designer's name is known, you can credit with that. There is a trend to mix digital and paper called Hybrid scrapping - with that, most folks lay out their page digitally, with the photos and background as they like, then print, and add 3D embellishments with glue. I like to keep my pages flat in an album, so that option doesn't work for my prints, but do like the look of them very much and I know it gives the "hands on" feeling that paper scrappers really like.
Welcome to digital, welcome to DSP - we're so glad you found us Tina!

Thanks Elizabeth! I really like your Double Dog set - I can see myself using that for a TON of things! I'm so happy to have gotten brave enough to try digi. I might actually catch up on my scrapping now. :)
Since I'm new I think I called it the wrong thing - it was actually a digital paper kit. I know this site is a store and forum so I just wanted to make sure it was okay to post something from elsewhere.
Thanks again! Looking forward to participating in more.
