I'm tired of being friendless down here and I want to meet some people. I'm thinking of organizing a Laptop Crop someplace maybe in Sandy Springs or Dunwoody area. I don't know my way around yet - yeah, its been a year, but you know as well as I do that its impossible to get around Atlanta!
Any takers? Ideas for places to meet? There is a Barnes and Noble right by Perimeter Mall that we could meet at, but I don't know if it has a WiFi connection. (Do we need one?) What would be a good time to meet? I was thinking a Saturday or Sunday.

ooh thanks for the notice tina!! well i'd love to meet up with fellow dsp digi scrappers!!! i don't think we need wifi...but maybe our first meeting we could just meet...then organize a laptop crop?? I think many times not much scrapping gets done. But either way i'm interested.
I'll look for any places that might work i'm in the DULUTH area.

well i'm available during the week on Tuesdays & Thursdays during the day and any day after 7pm.
I'd like not to meet too far south right now b/c traveling is out of the picture for me. But I do appreciate those in florida and other states wanting to get together.
Hmmm..do we have any others interested??? If it is just a few of us we can definitely do the bookstores. If there are more I'd like to find a bigger venue.
Any other Georgians/Atlanta folk out there what to get together?

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you right now, Liz. I can't really travel but in the future a southern crop would be nice. I'm hoping more ladies are in the area and interested!

okay i'm crazy busy the next month and 1/2 March 1st i have like 10 states I have to pay taxes in so i'll probably be at work every weekend until then.
So how about after March 1 we start thinking of a date. I know that's a bit far away on the calendar but it would work for me anyone else alright with that???

I sure will.
My goal is to have a crop either monthly or every other month. It will be for digi and paper scrappers...and of course hybrid scrappers!!
I also want to get some demos and speakers to come and make presentations. Like organizers on how to catalog and organize your photos.
Maybe Ms Elizabeth Weaver will do a demo sometime too!!
I have a couple friends who are heritage maker reps so perhaps we'll open the floor up to them at some point too.
I know there is one faithful digiscrapper in the neighborhood already. Not sure if she is a big member of dsp but i've seen her around...her memorial page for the playground is displayed in the clubhouse.

Okay here is the deal. I have to rent a facility to get this thing to happen. The going rate here in Gwinnett County is $150 / 4 hours for a weekend rental.
I can get the club house for $75 / 4 hours during the week.
How do people feel about having to pay $$ for the crop???

Well - I wouldn't mind normally, but I'm currently jobless so I can't contribute!

I was just telling my hubby I wished I could meet some people who could show me how to participate on this site. I've been lurking (and partaking of some awesome freebies) for about 2 years now. I'm thinking it's about time to jump in. (I guess it's fitting that this is my first post on the site.) I'd love to be able to shadow someone while their adding to the gallery, participating in the contests/ bingo, and joining the chats. I really am computer literate... just nervous. I don't want to add a page to my gallery and not give credit or offend someone some how.
I don't have a laptop and prefer to digital scrap although I do still have some physical scrapping to wrap up.
I really can't get together during the week but am all for a Friday evening or any time Saturday gathering. I'd love to get together at a bookstore first. (I can't believe how shy I feel right now. I'm a grown woman for Pete's sake! :: giggle ::)
I'm fine with meeting in Duluth. I work off Pleasant Hill a hop, skip, and jump from Gwinnett Mall. I live in Braselton so I pass the Mall of Georgia every day if anyone's interested in meeting at... what's the name of that place... Archiver's? Although that might be a little dangerous for the budget.
Hhmmm... all that rambling and I have a hard time "journalling." I still don't understand it.

I'm just seeing this; I would be interested in a get together too. I'm in Gwinnett County so Duluth is OK with me. I paper and digi-scrap so hybrid sounds fun. I don't currently have a laptop but might be able to finagle a loan of DH's laptop if one is needed.

Okie dokie, I think I found a location and the cost is less. I will need to share the cost but it should only be $2-3 per person.
I'm looking at dates in April and May for a Saturday.
This should be fun!!!

I don't know where I have been, but this is the first I have seen of this thread. I would love to get together!!!
I live in Newnan which is about 1 hour south of Atlanta.
I can get together during the week and possibly some weekend but I know already that I can not do it April 12, 26, May 3, 17. I know you can not plan it around anyone, but I would love to participate. That would be great if we did it often so more of us could attend!
Keep us posted!

Well I hope to do one every other month. So hopefully you'll have an opportunity in there some place.
But I too will be unavailable April 26 & May 17th.

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30793
Here are directions:
Directions to Sweetwater Chapel, Lawrenceville GA
DIRECTIONS: From the Pleasant Hill Road exit (104) on I-85 North, turn South (towards Lilburn) and drive a little over two miles to the intersection with Cruse Road, which will come in from the left. There is a Racetrac Gas Station and Waffle House at this intersection. Get in the left turn lane and make a U-turn back towards Waffle House (which will now be on your right).
