I have 2 questions about ACDsee.

Am I understanding this right? My kits and pictures will be in ACDsee and not in folders like I have them now on my computer. Or is it like PSE and just point the way to the folders? If this is the case can I then delete the kits and picture folders? I hope this makes sense.

Also I have moved kits and pictures to CD's to free up my puter(although it is new and I have plenty of space). Can I copy from CD/DVD drive into ACDsee with the 'get photos' or will I have to copy to computer first?

Thanks in advance
Pam

your photos are just catalogued in ACDSee just like with PSE Organizer. It doesn't move stuff around, but I think there's an option to do that if you want to (it's been so long since I used it! And an old version to boot).

As for using images on external storage media, I am not sure. You will undoubtedly have to have that medium plugged in/loaded to open anything, and I think you can Get content from it. I'm not sure if you can view only w/o the storage device though. So, I'm okay on the first question, and someone will undoubtedly clear up the second!

ACDSee is really just a viewer, so if it's not on your computer (either on your hard drive itself, or in the CD drive) then you won't be able to see it - you can't download to the program without storing the data on your computer in some way. The Get Photos wizard probably wouldn't work with a CD since it's designed to only download from an external source.

However, if you just wanted to see what was on the particular CD with your data, you can do that. ACDSee works like windows explorer (like when you go into the "My Documents" or "My Computer" folder. Look for your CD drive in the folder list on the left and you should be able to view it.

You can work straight from the CD in whatever graphics program you use as well, so you don't need to download it if you don't have the space. But, working from a CD will be slower than working straight from the HD.
