I just started digi scrapping but there are a lot of photos that I have that are not digital. I don't currently have a scanner but want to get one so that I can scap these photos.

What is the best kind to get? I want the quality to be good so as not to drag down the page becasue the photo is not clear?

Thanks!

Hey, Randi! I"m sure that our resident scanning expert (Janet) will be here soon to answer you, and I'll be anxious to see what she says... I have an old Canon scanner, but I'm sure there're better ones out there and I'm not even sure where to begin.... I'd guess, obviously, that you'd want a scanner that has the highest possible resolution... How helpful am I? :) Oh, JAAAAAAAANEEEETTT???

:) I'm here!

The main scanner I use is an Epson 4990, though I also have a film/slide dedicated Nikon as well. It's part of what I do for my business, and I've actually been looking to replacing my Epson simply because of the thousands of scans it's done over the years. Don't want to breakdown mid scan!

But while I'm probably going to spend more than the usual scrapper on a scanner, a good one might be the 4490 that's out - they've really come down in price. It'll let you do not only photos, but also negatives and slides, restore color, etc. I've been really impressed with Epson over other brands. Though I still adore my Nikon scanner for the slides and 35 mm negatives.

Looks like there's a rebate going on right now, too:

One more step up on the price range also looks good, and also has a rebate:

I'm pretty new to digiscrapping as well but I have a Kodak All-in-one printer (the 5300 model) and it scans pretty well; better than my old HP scanner. :]
