A few things to remember:
-Please PM your partner and exchange emails.
-Once you have PM'd each other, please email your partner your photo choices. Tell your partner what size layouts you scrap, if you like/dislike certain colors, if you plan to have journaling...be sure to include that.
-You have until the 31st of January to complete your layouts. If you don't do a layout, you cannot sign up next month.
-Email your partner. Stay in touch.
-If you have a problem, or just need to discuss your layout, please feel free to PM me any time.
-I try to assign everyone a different partner every month. If you have received the same partner, or need to change partners for any reason, please pm me and let me know.
-If you do not receive a layout, please let me know. I will do all I can to make sure you get one.
-Be sure to send the full version to your partner in email.[/b][/b]
-If you use DSP kits, PLEASE BE SURE TO CREDIT THE DESIGNERS.

-Also remember you may be partnered up with someone who isn't at the same skill level as you are. Remember this is just for fun. It is not meant to be a competition. Be sure to leave comments to your layout. It is the polite thing to do.

My first time to do a swap, this is fun!

Well, I'm ready to post the layouts I did for Kaytee. This is her very first digital swap with us, and I was so thrilled to be her first swap partner. We "chatted" and swapped pictures. Here's what she said about the ones she sent me:

"Ok here are a few pics of my brother Nick. He was killed in Ramadi, Iraq on June 21st 2005. He was born on July 3rd, 1981."

I read that and was stunned. This tremendouse sense of responsibilty came over me. I really , really, REALLY wanted to do somethings special with pictures as important as these. (I have felt that same feeling when entrusted with all kinds of important events in my fellow scrappers lives. These swaps have really instilled in me the IMPORTANCE of scrapping, not just the pleasure of it).

While working with her photos, it hit me:

Her brother was just 19 days younger than my only daughter. *19 DAYS!* . I thought about how her mom and I were expecting at the same time. How we, without even knowing each other, were doing, and learning, and living some of the same types of things at the same times, over the years. And my scrapping of Kaytee's pictures got very very personal for me.

I cried. I feel asleep cying. I woke up crying. This damn war! This damn, damn DAMN war! Nick was just a few days shy of his 24th birthday when he was killed. *24*! And I was depressed because I turned 50 this year. How stupid was THAT? This guy wasn't even with us for 24 years...

I have been changed by scrapping. That is no exaggeration. It just is. Scrapping for OTHERS has had the biggest impact on me. I'm pretty sure I will never stop...no matter what....
