Quick question about lasso tool...

I have a photo, I used the magnetic lasso tool to select my dog out of the pic, then selected inverse, and made the background B&W, it's exactly what I want....
The question is, I can't get the marching ants to go away now that I am done....therefore I can't go on...I try to click or move other things and it will MOVE the ants! Frusturated, please help!

Are you using Photoshop Elements when using the Magnetic Lasso Tool? If so, on the menu use Select -> Deselect or use CTRL+D, to deselect any selection in this program.

The same commands MHCraft just gave for Photoshop Elements also apply to Photoshop and to Paint Shop Pro.
