i just accidentally discovered a very cool trick with my paper cutter! have you seen the fancy cutters lighted from underneath so you can see where you're cutting? not for me, so i just get close enough.
well i have a light nearby (just my desk light) and it reflected the paper cutter arm/ruler/cutter part in a line onto my paper. i turned it just a tad so it was perfectly on the cutting line! see just to the left of the mouse pointer? (yeah, you might have to squint). so no more guessing!
it's easy if you have a print right to the edge of the paper, you can just line it up with the cutting line. but it's harder with white borders all the way around. so now, it's easy! for me anyway. thought i'd share for any of you other 8x8 cutter outers! :D
okay, now tell me, how cool am i?!

How tricky are you?!!! WTG, I looked and looked and kept thinking that cursor is nowhere near her cutter, much less her cutting line. Then I realized it was my cursor I was looking at.

LOL Gundi! :)

That is cool Margie, thanks for sharing! I always did the "well this looks pretty close trick" LOL - sometimes I trimmed too much - other times not enough!! ;)

be sure to print your white layouts with "crop marks" in the Print dialog so you know right where to cut on those. In PSE just click the box, in PS you click the drop down menu that says Color Management and choose Output and check Crop Marks. It's especially helpful on non-full-bleed layouts before you trim that first white edge off.

 Have to say that I did the same thing as Gundi. I felt a real goose when I worked out I was looking at my own cursor. Now I feel a bit better that i am not the only one.:o

I always do the "close enough" thing, but i like the crop marks idea. Will have to try that out!!

Thanks,
