Our topic for the week to come is "Family Stories" so dig them out, a great opportunity for journaling, a great way to hone your skills at doing a page with no photos.

Remember, your page must be in the Heritage Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=847.html) by the beginning of next weeks chat ie before 10.00 EST/DST on Wednesday.

I am looking forward to hearting all the family tales :) good luck with your entry!

Crikey, I misread this and did a photo page of when my grandfather was a lighthouse keeper in 1922.
So, I will have to do a rethink. I'll look at everyone else's when they go up. :)

H'mm, I just went back and read my blog post that I entered with the photo layout I did for this, (before I reread and saw that it was just for journaling), and I can see that I do have a journal entry. But again, I will just wait and read all of yours.
I am new here and so am not sure how you do a journal page yet. I'm looking forward to seeing all of yours. :)

Meryl - I have ended up with a series of three. May I please show you the three in order of how I began, but the one I am entering in this challenge is the third and final, the one that complies with what you asked for - no photos, a family story. It is called: Journal of Lighthouse Days.

It took me a while to get to it, I have never made a journal entry before and hope to gain experience with presenting one properly in time as I make progress here.

My first attempt was The Lighthouse Keeper (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=240454).

My second was Double Island Point Lighthouse (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=240605).

My third that I submit into the Our Heritage gallery is Journal of Lighthouse Days (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=240608).

This is my first post here at the Heritage Gallery. I've always loved this picture and the story about the watch. My grandfather told it to me one day when grandma was putting on her watch. They both laughed and then grandma said to me that someday the watch would be mine and she hoped it would mark happy time for me as it had for her.

Ooops - missed the part about no photos. Guess I shouldn't participate in this
don't know how to finish it without the photo with the watch.

Hi Pie :)
I had to learn how to do a journal entry. Crikey - it was so different from what I have been doing. Oh - and I love your LO with the picture and the journal entry.
P.S. I have my Pye with me helping me type.

Oh, yes, girls. You can use photos. I think Meryl meant that even if you don't have pictures, you can do this topic with journaling. Just do a page about family stories and include what you have. ; )

Since no one else wants to do the "black sheep" in the family, I am doing mine for this challenge. ;) We knew my gg grandfather was a scoundrel, but we never imagined to what extent until we started digging into his past. Besides all the things I mention in the Layout and Description, he also robbed a store and a pool hall and broke out of jail. I hope I didn't get any of his errant genes!!!

Hey gals, here's mine and I'm asking for help!:help:
This is the first time I've attempted to do B&W and color a portion. I used the magic wand but am not totally happy with the outcome. Also, wanted to outline the word "Yellow" in all the text but couldn't figure that out.

All cc's welcomed! I'm still working on the journaling - thanks, Supernana

Impy, I brought out my black sheep too!! What a contradiction this man was - on one hand a hardened criminal (his convict records show lashings, starvation, solitary confinement etc for his repeated offences) and on the other hand a most gifted and talented artist.

I didn't think I had any Family Stories for this challenge until I remembered the story of my Father's nose. You'd have to know the small town my father grew up in, even when I grew up there everyone knew everyone in this town in Michigan. If you come from a small town you may appreciate this story. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=241419

I'm not completely satisfied with the journaling, but I figure I can "tweek" it tomorrow. Wanted to be sure and get it posted.

This is my first attempt at coloring a portion - it was a challenge. Something I guess you get better with practice.

I know this is not the NKOTB forum, but the question came up in our chat and I was really not able to answer it properly. A bit of pm'ing and we have the answer to Supernana's dilemma - is she not allowed to be in NKOTB as she won a heritage vote one week?

Well, the answer is Yes, she is fine to take part. The "not won any contests" is in the case of judged contests - this from Emma.....

Judged means not a member vote, judged by the DSP panel is what it refers to. At this point, member-voted contests are not included in the exclusion of NKOTB. If in the future we decide to do that, it still wouldn't affect her in this case.

Also, Supernana signed up for NKOTB and only after that won her Heritage prize - apparently a contestant may win other prizes AFTER NKOTB has commenced.

So on two scores, Supernana you are cleared for take off! All the best of luck to you!
