I created an 8x8 page with a couple of pictures - then it won't let me save at all. Does it not have enough memory to save? I can tell that DIP is hogging my memory - things really slow down when I use it. But I've got a good amount of RAM and nothing else running. Is it that much of a hog? Any suggestions?
DIP is defaulting the resolution on the page to 600 dpi. If I drop it to 300 - will that still look OK?

 Wow.. 600dpi. Standard is 300dpi
DIP is a memory hog.
You didn't say which version you have. I'm using Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 Editor. It is by far the best version that I've had (and I started at DOS). It handles the memory better and doesn't crash like the older versions do. If you are using an older version you will have to really turn things off to get it to work.
You will need to empty your temp directory often. This is where I find my at:
"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp" (You will need to figure out where yours is located.)
Most of the time there are some things that you can't delete, you just leave them and go on to the next file. ONLY DELETE WHAT IS LOCATED INSIDE THE TEMP DIRECTORY. DO NOT DELETE THE DIRECTORY ITSELF.
Sadly, you need to have everything closed to do it. You can try to copy and paste your document into a new document inside DIP and try to save it there. One of my biggest things with DIP is to save, save, save. Once I got the new version and all the ram I needed I don't have too much trouble, but I also clean temp files all the time. If you have Norton Antivirus (I do), it is a killer. I scan often and now turn it off while working inside DIP. This should only be done if you are not on an open line to the internet and only if you scan all files often.
I love DIP and use it for all my graphics. I just have figured out how to work with it. I'm sad that they aren't going to do anymore updates. Well.. this version works great for me.
