View Full Version : lost my layers - what did I do wrong?

I have been working on a couple of different layouts. There is one of them - when I open it back up to work on it, it is not showing me all the different objects in the layout (3 pictures, background paper, text, etc...) - it's only showing one object in the stack, which is the complete layout. I can't move any of the items around.
What did I do to get it this way? And, more importantly, can I undo it? I expected something like this to happen if I "flattened" it - which I didn't do.
There are other pages I have been working on that are just the way I left them - separate objects that I can still move and play with. I just don't know what happened to this one page.
under your tool bar you should see something that says "stack" and "files", click that and your layers will come back.

when I bring up the STACK and FILES - under stack, it has one object, the entire layout and it calls it the "top object". Beside it there is a tiny picture of a lock. I was able to find unlock and the lock goes away - but I still only have one object - the entire layout.

Did it inadvertantly get saved as a jpeg instead of the programs format maybe? Just a thought.

I agree this is most probably what happened

I thought you might have hit on it - but no, the layout is still .png

Check to see that is a png plus file not just a png. The png plus file is the one that saves the layers.
You can check it out by click on save as.
ooops, I misunderstood the question.
Yes, my next suggestions was the png vs. the png plus (both save as .png, but only the picture it png plus will save the layers).

that's the problem! It didn't get saved as png plus - not sure how it happened, but I'll be sure to keep an eye on that from now on. Thanks!
