What a fun topic! Thank you Meryl, I'm really enjoying this forum. My picture is called First Day of School (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=847) - I was five. This was in California on Beale Air Force Base.

I would come to the chats if I could but they are not at a time that I can come. Almost all of the chats are either while I am at full time work or during the wee night hours. :)

But I try to keep up by reading all the forums and looking at all the pictures. :)

I am also unable to attend your chats because of time differences Meryl, but I do enjoy participating in the challenges.

This layout shows my classroom after the school was burnt down. The Education Department wanted to keep the school open by teachers entertaining 600+ children on the oval for two days, while they made alternative arrangements. This was in Melbourne in the middle of Winter!! After bitter wrangling between parents, teachers and the Dept the school was closed for the two days, but the teachers were directed to clean up and retrieve anything they could from the ruins. Can you imagine OHS allowing this these days?

I thought this would be a little different to the usual school photos!

Meryl, my photo is not so much about a festival, it is about going to Sunday School each week. Would that be acceptable or is it outside the parameters of the topic?

I've made my Easter picture with my grandmother and my cousin, from 1965. They are both wearing Easter bonnets. :) I'll post it into the "Religious Festivals" forum.

I am SO enjoying the heritage forum. It has opened a new window for me.
