I'm for sure coming!
I hate being the first to respond - brings back those school days of being the first to finish a test and wondering if you answered the questions all wrong.....
Chocolate will be my candy of choice...not sure what exact flavor...I love them all!

I'll be there. I have the hotel booked and the kids already know they're going on a short cation - translated staying at a hotel with a pool. Less guilt of leaving them and I get a driver. I'm saving my pennies to buy scamp lunch.

I will be there, IF we can be sure that with either have my DM or my DSIL to watch the kids. We will travel out 5 hours and stay overnight and the leave right after the crop and probably make it home about 9 p.m. I sure wish my Chocolate Trifle would hold up for the trip!!!!!
I'm adding you to the list, Melissa! Let me know if you can't make it, but we hope you can can can!

I'm actually looking at flights! Not as expensive as i thought! My birthday is april 27th so this might be my bday present. Where would be good to fly into?
flrebareba
03-14-2008, 03:07 AM
Welll You know I'll Be there!!!! I"m there 1/2 the time anyway
Brenda, your options are Lexington, Ky, and Covington, Ky (Covington being the Great Cincinnati International Airport). Both are quite a drive from Maysville, and Lexington would be the cheapest route. (CVG is very $$$).
Someone, um... Kydeb?? Said she lives not too far from Lex. Might PM her and ask her about the area.
Gotcha Reba!
oh and Brenda, if you come, we'll totally chip in to buy you lunch! and Bday cake! :)

I'll chip in too. And our 1st wedding anniversary is the 28th but DH is going to be in Maysville that weekend so all is well.
kydeb
03-16-2008, 05:27 PM
I live about 25 miles from the Lexington airport and would be happy to coordinate with anyone who flies in there. I also have room if you need a place to crash before/after flight - just pm me and we can coordinate.

03-16-2008, 07:20 PM
I'm flying into Lexington and renting a car. For anyone interested in exploring the area, I will be going to Old Washington, and possibly Flemingburg to do genealogy research. I did just learn that the development, Fernleaf, is indeed the old family farm where my great-great-great grandparents lived and were buried. Hopefully I'll have lots of material for scrapping on Saturday! Can't wait to meet everyone!

Where is everyone planning to stay?
mommabyrd2003
03-28-2008, 10:38 PM
We're staying at the Hampton Inn. Neilston and the kids will be enjoying the pool while I chat with all of you. I still haven't decided if I bringing a computer or not. I would have to have Neilston load PSE on his laptop along with all my other stuff. Knowing me I will probably do more chatting than anything else, so I'm still deciding if it worth the effort.

My husband will be staying at home. We don't really feel like boarding the dogs, so he and the pups are having the house to themselves. Gonna check with a friend from Chicago and see if she wants to come down for a girls weekend. I didn't see a crop fee listed in the store. Is there someplace to register and pay the fee, or do we just register here?

03-29-2008, 06:26 AM
I'm staying at the French Quarter downtown.
I didn't own a laptop when I attended the first crop that I went to, and had a great time just visiting and seeing what everyone else was doing! However, that crop was what made me bump getting a laptop up on the priority list! I still don't get a lot done at a crop--consider it amazing if I complete one page!
I am so looking forward to this!

I noticed that the Hampton Inn and French Quarter are the same price, so was torn about which to stay at. Would like to stay where most others will be staying. My plan is to come in on Friday afternoon/evening, and return home late Saturday. I'm getting really excited about this!!!! This is the perfect event, after one of the weirdest winters (as far as weather goes).
scamptx
03-29-2008, 08:32 AM
I'm staying at the French Quarter for two reasons--the first is that I wanted to be downtown since I will be doing a little genealogy. The second is that when it's not a huge price difference, I like to stay at some place that's different from the places that I have to stay for business travel! I do understand, thought, that if you have family, then you really need to stay where there's a pool!!
Edit to add--do you think there's a chance I'd get George's room??? Naaah, he probably had a suite or something....!

03-29-2008, 10:21 AM
I'm staying at the Hampton Friday night. Gotta come home Saturday night for a big event at church Sunday! I'm so looking forward to meeting everyone! Can't wait to get there. I've got a laptop with PSE5 on it and I've been organzing stuff on my EHD but I'm sure I probably won't be scrapping half as much as I'll be chatting!
Be sure to bring your printed albums so we can all ooooooooooooo and ahhhhhhhh over them!

Well, Pat would probably like to go swimming, or to a park or something. Pat doesn't like loud noises and a lot of ruckus due to his sensory problems.
Well, Blue Licks isn't far from Maysville. It's about 30 mins maybe?
Here's info on it:

Here's another neat place that's about 50 minutes away. It's apparently changed a lot since the last time I was there. We knew they were buying some land, but didn't know they were going to be putting hotels up there too. The website link no longer takes you to what used to be their website. If interested, I'd call the phone numbers to ask questions...

Oh, and there's a nice park across the river with a play area for kids. Not real big, but fairly nice anyway, and that would only be about 15 minutes away, and you can see the river from there too and walk down to it from the boat launching ramp.
We like to go get ice cream at the Dairy Queen and then go to the park and eat it, LOL!

Ok, so I haven't booked our room yet(), but I was wondering if anyone has gotten a really good rate at Hampton Inn. Right now, with tax, it's $99.06. I'm trying to pinch the pennies a little so we'll have more money for fun stuff. TIA!

Melissa - don't ask me how, but I got a "Go for the Gold" rate which is $5 less. I found it online through the HHC Central reservations. I think I just looked for discounted rates on their website. But at any rate, (pun intended:p ) my total is $94.10.

I posted on the other thread but I thought I'd ask here too. What is the final decision on the sizes of the ATC. I made mine a while back in accordance with the ATC guidelines so they are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2. Did we decide to do them smaller (business card size)? Thanks!!
