You can easily find most fonts if you know the name at www.fontseek.com!
And if you don't know the name (if you've seen it on a layout, sample, etc), you can upload a picture of the font at www.whatthefont.com and they might be able to identify it for you!

dafont.com (http://dafont.com/en) is the granddaddy of free font sites. There is a search feature if you know exactly which font you want, but it's also fun to browse through the various themes.

I love all different fonts and tend to "collect" them for my scrapbooking. I love the dafont website too when I am just browsing for new stuff but two other sites that are great are: onescrappysite.com and scrapvillage.com.

I have so many fonts loaded, it is hard to find THE one! Ha ha. Well I decided to print out examples of the whole lot. So I typed a line in each font starting with A or numbers to Z and saved it to a word doc. Needless to say it took about 3 days of pain in the neck! (I have so many fonts). But I have a great folder full of fonts to browse through more easily. I must say even with this I still take ages to choose a font. I have separated the dings into one area of picture fonts, and I guess others could be separated too, like handwriting, gothic, floral, favourites etc (aaaahhhhhhhh!!!) Just love fonts!! :)

Hi, I'm searching for a font that looks like Lego or building blocks. Does anybody know where to find it or what the name could be?

I have a lot of fonts. Is there a place in DSP to put some? I would like to share mine since I got them free.

most font sharing sites are not legally sharing fonts and we don't encourage sharing them here. because they're free doesn't always mean you are free to distribute them, so feel free to share legal sites only and our members can browse there. thanks!

most free fonts have a restriction not to redistribute them, but we'd love links to your favorite free fonts!

Linotype is a great free one I've been enjoying (ditched The Font Thing recently).

I am doing a scrapbook of DH & I wedding. I am looking for pretty, fancy, romantic looking fonts. I have a feeling that there are many fonts of this description but any help that can be provided would be great, thanks.

Edwardian Script is a nice elegant handwriting font, that would look good! You are right about there being zillions of fonts. Try googling for free fonts from sites such as DA Fonts, 1001 Fonts and Larrabie etc and you will see lots of examples. :)

Thanks

Yes Edwardian Script is very elegant but another that kind of beat it (or very similar) is CAC Lasko Condensed. I stumbled upon this font and used it for my wedding LOs.

Emma, can you tell me why you changed from The Font Thing? I have it, but haven't really 'got into it', so would love your critique. Thanks a bunch.

TFT is old and buggy. Also, the newer OTF or Open-Type Font that is becoming the new standard does not display on TFT. I hunted around for some with the features that I had to have, and found Linotype suggested on my fontography group. It displays wysiwyg font list previews, installs and uninstalls, plus previews the font in various sizes, previews multiple fonts if you select All or just those you want, can categorize them, etc. Plus it's new and we can be expecting updates every so often to improve it, whereas TFT is obsolete: no longer supported by its creator nor upgraded.

SunnyAB

Ah.. so the same features at TFT, but with upgrades - sounds great. I haven't had any problems with TFT but with more and newer fonts it could be an issue. And the kicker of course - is it free?

www.fonttrader.com is another good one. You get free points for signing up and the you can purchase more if you want them (you get 25 free). Another option is to pay a low $4.95 to download all (approximately 15,000) fonts.

After reading this forum, I went out and got linotype. It is sooooo much better than the font thing!! I've dumped the font thing and imported everything into linotype. What a difference!! Thanks!!

yeah, I don't really think it's Vista everyone hates but the software that can't cope with Vista yet! I remember when 98 and XP came out, everyone hated those too, LOL! I'm waiting to get Vista until my favorite software upgrades come out. The Adobe guy sighed in relief when I called for tech support and told him I was still running XP!!!

Is the Font Explorer X better than the other font programs? I already have two, and I want all my fonts in one program.

This site has CAC Lasko free. You have to sign up for the site and you get 2 points. Each point is good for a font download. You get additional points by uploading fonts to share and then use those points to download what you want. Here's the web address:

here's a free one
http://www.fontifier.com/

you get what you pay for, the spacing is really off, so make sure when you write the characters that you use a nice felt marker and try to center those babies in the box as much as possible

I can't believe I haven't looked at this thread before, but it appears that's the case! Anyway, I was interested in the comments about the Linotype font manager and went to their site to check it out. I gather they've recently finished beta testing a newer PC version, but it's not available for download yet. Is there any intel when it might ready?

Many thanks!

that's been up there for ages, their Beta was taken down and no new version ever showed up. The link is still good since I got it before the beta link went down: here it is

I've been using FontXPlorer for ages, but since I upgraded my computer and started using Vista Ultimate it's not working properly. Instead of allowing me to install and uninstall selected fonts, it tries to install all of the fonts in my folder. I checked their site and found out niether Vista or 7 is supported, even with the most up to date version. Does anyone know of another Font Organiser that will work with Vista?

I've only used FontXplorer, but it should let you see all your installed and uninstalled fonts and install or uninstall them as you need to.That way you can keep a large percentage of your fonts uninstalled in a separate folder and only keep the ones you need installed.
