I have a question regarding scrapkits for psp and scrapkits for ps cs3. Can a kit made with psp be used with the ps cs3 program, or is there anything else that I would have to do to make it work in cs3. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Yes they may be interchanged. Kits are usually made up of jpg's and png's, both of which can be used by several photo editor programs. HTH -c-

All the kits available here at DSP are accessible in both programs. I use PS CS3. If you are making your own kits, then you would need to (as Carlalee mentioned) save all the elements of your kits in either jpeg (if they are not transparent) or png if they contain transparence.

Thanks, I was just wondering because I did try to open a kit with PS and it would not open.

what error did you get when opening it? JPEG and PNG files are compatible with PS, PSE, PSP, and many, many other graphic and scrapbooking software (main reason they're the format choice of designers).

Once a graphic is saved into either JPEG or PNG it doesn't matter what software was used to create it.

Was the file compressed? If so, it wouldn't open in PS until it was extracted.

Most DSP files are compressed for shorter download times and then they have to be extracted once they are on your computer. HTH.

The error I got was that the file is not the right type of file. I figured if the scrap kit was saved using psp, would it still be able to be opened by ps cs3. I have many kits that cannot be opened with cs3 that I would like to use but can't. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks for the help.

it makes zero difference what software was used to create the kit, as long as the file type it's SAVED AS is compatible. These are all PNG and JPEG files.

Sounds like they're still in ZIP format that you need to extract/unzip. What's the file extension on what you're trying to open?

If it's ZIP, right click on it and choose Extract Here to unzip it. Zipped files are a way to package many files into a single file to ease downloading. Some file types are compressed into smaller files by zipping, but not graphics (those are already compressed).

It was saved something like this flower.psp and I can open it in psp but not photoshop cs3. The kits are already extracted because I can open them in psp. I just thought it was really weird that I can't open it in cs3.

.psp is a psp file format that Photoshop cannot open. I wonder why it's in that format?

I think what I am going to do is open it in psp and then save it another way so that I can open it in cs3.
