You know, I'm not really certain where my LO's are going that were going to be published in the Paperkuts Digital Idea Book that got cancelled. I spoke with the editor of Paperkuts, and she stated that some of them are going to be published in the Reader Showcase Book and some in the actual magazine. But, I had a total of 4 LO's to be published in the Digital Idea Book, so I'm not really certain the # of LO's going to be in the Reader Showcase Book. Congrats to everybody who got published!

I have "Cousins, Snowcones and the 4th of July" in there too. Can't wait to see this book, with so many digital entries!

You know when you guys submit your L.O's to these scrapbooking mags, do you loose your sole copyright on them? I would love to submit some work & have wanted to for a long time but this really concerns me! Why would you let a magazine have your work for a few dollars when its taken you a good couple of hours to create & when you have the potential to sell that L.O framed to a private buyer for much more (obviously if its not a personal kindda L.O, like much of my work)? Someone enlighten me, do you guys submit your work to get the coverage or for some other reason? Over in the UK we don't get scrapbooking magazines so I don't know how this whole thing works, LOL!!!
Someone give me some advice!
Emma.

you give it up for some of them, but not all of them. and $100 is more than a few to me. :) those private buyers aren't knocking down my door, or that would be the way to go! the way i see it is i make scrapbook pages for me, for my album. if someone wants to publish that, then pay me to do so, cool. my son also thinks it's pretty cool when i can show him his pic in a mag at the line in walmart. :) so it's a little exposure, a little validation, and for me a lot of promoting digital scrapping. and yeah, the money's nice too. :D

Thanks Margie for the info, I guess we're in slightly different situations as I make scrapbook pages for me but alot of my stuff tends to be unpersonal & could be used as framed gifts or cards for anyone. So tell me do I just contact the mag & ask whether they do require to keep copyright on my work? If they don't need it then I'd love to submit some stuff :)
Thanks again for the info & I didn't mean to sound blase about the money, $100 dollars is alot of money if thats what your being offered.
Smiles,
Emma.

i don't have any of the contracts right here to check for you, sorry. but yeah, i'd just contact each if you want to know.
scrapbooks, etc is $100, simple scrapbooks is $50, paper kuts is $25 i think, memory makers is $50 worth of (paper scrapping) products, ivy cottage creations is $25 worth of products, um creating keepsakes must not like me :D but i think it's around $50, not sure on that tho.
if you check on www.scrapsubmit.com they have all the calls and info on any payments, etc. hth. Ü

Thanks Margie!
just my 2 cents...I do a lot of shows to try and sell some of my work and services...and it helps it a lot to be able to say you are a "published" artist...when I mention that I have layouts in upcmoning magazines people become much more interested and seem to appreciate what I do that much more...so for me it isnt about the money either...its just another marketing gimmick....
