This is my second attempt to post. My first one disappared and said I didn't select a forum, so if this shows up twice, you'll know why.

First question. I'm trying to add drop shadow frames to my pictures. I tried adding them before I pasted them onto my background layer. But when I select all, copy and paste, the drop shadows don't accompany my pictures.

So then I tried adding them after I pasted them onto the background. I used the marquee tool to select the picture, but it adds the drop shadow to the background layer and not the selection. Any ideas? I tried Adobe's Help, but it wasn't helpful.

Second question. I tried adding the brushed aluminum frame just for fun. It was cool, but pink in color which doesn't go with my layout at all. Is it possible to change the color of the brushed aluminum frame? Again, Adobe's Help file was anything but helpful when it came to this.

First of all-- I am giving a disclaimer-- I'm not an expert!

When I drop a shadow-- I select the item I desire to drop a shadow from- by selecting that layer in my layers pallette-- then going up to Layer Style-- and selecting drop shadow-- there are quite a few to choose from-

I LOVE this feature--

yep, that's right. yOU add Drop Shadow as a layer style, so just click the layer you want to add it to in the Layers Palette and click the Drop Shadow style you want.

As for changing colors, use Ctrl-U to get the Hue/Saturation dialog open and change it.

Have you checked out the DSU 160 PSE class? It covers everything you need to know about this stuff, you'll love it! click the image in my sig to read more about it. Ask back with any questions. Keep it up!

Emma:
I checked out DSU, but it seemed the beginners classes were closed until March. Is that correct or did I misunderstand? I'm in desperate need of beginners courses. I'm as clueless as it gets when it comes to scrapping, much less digitally. I'm pretty good when it comes to learning applications, but I hate reading manuals (who doesn't) so an online course is right up my alley.

Nope - beginner classes are not closed. If you are referring to the store - you must be logged in and approved before you can purchase. These are security measures we have had to put into our store because of some issues. Thanks!

Did you see the 160 option? Only the Intro to PS course is not offered this month (Feb) and will be offered again in March with PSP not offered. I teach 2 every month, rotating one out each month.

Let me know if you have any trouble registering after you log in
