I am going to take a month to mourn for Bethy!

There will be no chat for May while I sit on my thinking chair and decide how I am going to do this without my DSPartner! It will resume in June, and I am open to suggestions as to what you'd like to see for the Prompts and Props chat.

What have been your favorite things about it?

What have you liked the least?

Do you have any suggestions for the chat itself? We've been just chatting away, but if you'd rather play a game I'm up for it! In fact I'd love to do that!

I can't seem to edit the poll - but please post if you'd like to have a scrapchat with a prompt and maybe a freebie to use - I'd like that option as well.

I would say keep it as is - maybe try it on your own for a while and see how that goes or maybe a member would like to host along side you as well or another designer would like to join in on the chats

how about scraping during the chat. I found that a lot of fun. Jamie had a chat like that and I really enjoyed it.

Ooh, I like that idea too - scrapping during the chat!

expanding on that idea maybe one month scrap & chat then maybe the following month games or tutorials or what ever

Maybe every second week have a featured designer join ya in chat and let them decide what they want to do in the chat - - some may want to play Bingo, or do a tutorial or scrap, you can let us know ahead of time when ya decide on the designer and what they want to do. Then on the first week you can stick to the way it originally was with just you, or go over what was learned or completed from the previous week.

Scrappin during chat don't work for some of us --- our computers can't handle it!!! Think it would be fun but i am lucky to even get a download if i am in this chat room. For some reason it really taxes this system and i have had some serious lock ups.

Z I could never make the chats due to work and time zones but I sure loved having 2 designers team up on a challenge with the freebie but either way I dont mind as I love your stuff so would continue to join in but I sure hope you keep it in the forum as well not just chat because if its a chat only thing then I would miss it.

I'd been wondering how you felt about losing your "partner in crime"!
I rarely make your chats because of time zone issues/clashes but when I did I used to like the fun ideas for making things like when you had us doing mini albums, bookmarks etc for gifts. Which sounds like hybrid projects I guess.
I'm sure you could carry a chat by yourself but I bet there would be lots of people willing to team up with you either designers, DET, DET alumni, other members. You could have people competing to be your guest host for the week/month! LOL!

I have to say I would love hosting a chat with any of the designers even every 2 to three months

Z - the chats are always a little late for me ('cos I get up before 5 a.m.) but when I've been able to attend, I've always enjoyed the format. Scrapping during the chat just seems counter productive to me (how can I keep my eye on the chat window and try to LO something at the same time? :) )

I do remember a while back getting some interesting items... a door sign and a CD case...wow, how long ago was that? That was fun, too....when we received the "prompt" ahead of time and had time to think about it before the chat.

Featuring other designers...? Well, no thanks. When I want to chat with other designers, I'll go to their chats. I'm here to see you and Beth! :) [Which is not to say that if you had an idea to do something and you knew a designer who would be fabulous in helping to execute your idea, that I would be averse. That would be fun every once in a blue moon.] But at Z's chat, I want to see Z.

Find a new partner? Okay, that would be okay - I really like the collaboration synergy you and Beth have....might be hard to recreate - but you could try it. (In fact, I guess you could "audition" people for a while and see how that goes!)

Games? That could be fun. I've never actually participated in a chat with games. I think I'd like to try that.

I sympathize that you're (we're) losing Beth, but I think you sell yourself short if you think you can't do it on your own. You can!

I know I'm rambling...but I hope this helps anyway! :)

I like having a prompt, it gives me a starting point idea
Everyone likes freebies
Chats are fun and I do enjoy them, but for me, they are fast and sometimes hard to keep up with. I know I would not be able to scrap and use chat at same time
Maybe you could use the chat to help you plot a plopper, or kit ideas?
Just chatting and getting ideas from you is plenty good with me

Well, I'm not a regular chatter because usually I'm in "homework helper/bath enforcer/don't roll your eyes at me" mode during chat times. BUT, when the planets align perfectly, I love chats! I really like the ones where attendees make suggestions for kits, ploppers, etc, etc. I also like the scrap-a-long chats but I'm not sure I'd like them every time. It does amazes me how quite the chatroom can get while everyonoe is scrapping. But overall, I love the challenges since I can't always make the chats. I love getting posting bonues, cause, well, I'm cheap! I've only done a couple of your challenges but now that I've met you "up close and in person" I plan on doing more! So my very indecisive answer is.......... a challenge of some sort, with bonus, but giving you freedom to pick and choose the rest!

I find that chats interfere with real life, especially all the different time zones. I much prefer a challenge with a posting bonus, and then maybe once a month spice it up a bit and do something different. Challenges can be worked around your personal schedule, as long as we meet the deadline.

Just my two cents.

Wow, keep the great suggestions coming! To clarify one thing, I know I can continue on my own, but Beth has been such a good friend, advisor, and idea-bouncer-off-er, that I will so miss her, as much as you all will! I loved using her challenge products too! Plus it was such a good plan to have two of us to back each other up in case of emergencies, and we both had them - Beth with the odd thunderstorm, myself when my dad went in the hospital (and subsequently died), and both of us when kids didn't want to go to bed according to our chat schedule, silly things!

But stay tuned for more news I think I can give you soon - and you will love it; I'm excited!

I always check in on this challenge even though I don't do every one. I guess it's totally shameless of me, but I am often "prompted" to participate because of the "freebies". .

I personally find the chats getting harder and harder to attend....and when I do, I am often multi-tasking and only half paying attention to everything. :( Several designers have opted for Forum-based challenges and I have to say that I do like that approach, but I also understand that many of you like to love to attend the chats. I think the chats are especially good for newer members who are meeting new people, as it helps to forge a connection with new scrap friends. So, the bottom line for me.....I am happy with whatever the majority decides. I may attend, or I may not. :p

The prompts are often a good starting place, but since they aren't "required" I don't always use them. (Okay...3 lashes with a wet noodle for me). :o

I loved your monthly Prompts and Props chats/challenges with the chat bonus as well as the posting bonus if we completed the challenge. I know that I don't have time to do all of the challenges. I love chatting and meeting scrapping friends in the chat room. These friendships with the designers and scrappers are what makes DSP great. I'm really missing some of the regular chats which have been discontinued, as there are less opportunities for the social bonding which takes place during the chats.
I realize that everybody has time contsraints at times, and this is why having a Chat buddy worked so well with you and Bethy. Maybe, when the new designers are announced, one of them would love to be your chat/challenge buddy Z, or one of the DSP members would team up with you.

Would rather not try to scrap and chat, I don't multi task well especially scrapping. Love the chats, love the freebies that come with chats. Like the challenges but there are so many and I love so many of the kits and posting bonuses, I find it too expensive to get all the ones I want and too hard to pick and choose so I end up getting overwhelmed and not getting into any of them. Ok with the games but not fond of the chats where we just keep listing all the things we would like to see with a kit. Would be great to have challenges listed monthly, four kits and four posting bonuses. Pick any or all kits and pick the bonus you want. If you do one you can pick one bonus from any of the four. If you do more then you get to pick more.

This is great for people on a budget so they can spend their scraping dollars wisely.

Whoa! I missed something! What happened to Bethy? I go out to dinner with my dh and suddenly, i miss everything!

Well, Z, Prompts and Props is where I started! And though I don't make all of the chats, I love to come to them when I can! Prompts and Props is needed for newbies, so I would hate you to stop the chat altogether. You were so friendly and it made me want to stay at DSP. Games? I love games, but it has to be more like Bingo, because some of us can't type very fast and, it seems to me, the same people win over and over again. Bingo I at least stand a chance of winning because it doesn't take speed. (Or something like that!) Scrap as you chat? Great idea, but everybody would be constantly asking, "What are you talking about?" Or you could keep it as it is, discussing the prompt, the challenge, coming up with new challenges or prompts? Either way you go, I am behind you! (It is just hard to remember what Tuesday the chat is, so if you can make it easier to remember, I will be there every time!)

My two cents worth--this is a fun, easy-going chat and so, usually, were the challenges. I like the idea of a prop (the chat freebie), the prompt (challenge), and, every so often, the possibility of triple or quadruple bonuses if we were somehow able to use both your and Bethy's kits. It's always nice to get a freebie but for me a huge part of a challenge is getting the different pieces of a kit(s) together in some appealing way. I also REALLY like the two-week window for completing the challenge because it gives me time to think and make time to complete a worthwhile LO. So, I guess I'm saying stay with the current chat format with or without a new partner. Love your kits and your templates; loved doing the plopper challenges too.

I couldn't make the chats either...although I love the challenges! Like the idea of 4 for the month with 4 freebies! :-) Whatever you do will be awesome.
