Featured Designer Challenge by Cathie and Formby (the Luvaducks)

Who's up for the Featured Designer Challenge for May?
The featured designer this month is Rene' Bross.

This challenge uses, exclusively, items from the Designer of the Month featured in the DSP Monthly Newsletter. The products used can be purchased or from the freebie gallery, but everything used on your layout must be from the featured designer. (No items from pre-designer days, such as SNL kits, etc.) For Rene' you MAY USE QUICK CLICKS AND WORD ART FROM OTHER DSP DESIGNERS.

You earn a posting bonus for doing 5 layouts and another one for doing 10 layouts. Please PM FormbyGirl when you have completed 5 and 10 layouts to receive the posting bonus. Posting bonuses will be sent around 15th of month and end of month. In addition, there is a random draw for a free page kit at the end of the month.

We are NOT doing a most of challenge this month, we want to focus on QUALITY layouts this month and will be restructuring with some challenges that give you a chance to feature your scrapping skills.

ALL LAYOUTS MUST BE PROPERLY CREDITED AND COMBINED IN A SINGLE POST. See instructions for crediting here. This is my second month . . . . and as Karen saiid it does get easier. I got two done today. Aaaand, just putting my two cents in, but I like not having to keep track of points. This is easier, and lets you focus on the layout which is the point of it all.:) :tup:

Hi Formby Girl and Cathiemarie....can we have a ruling on using other designers quick clicks and word art please? I do believe that Rene has 4 quick clicks in the store, and less than 5 word art as well. We need word art for our LO's please.

Well I'm not the rule maker here.. but just for the record, it doesn't bother me a bit if you use other's QC's and/or word art. But I'm not in charge... : ) I'd say wait for the official ruling!

I have a problem - I don't have very many items from Rene that work with any of my photos and no money to spend at DSP this month!! What makes matters worse is that I want the posting bonuses - I could probably do 2 or 3 layouts but not 10. Any Ideas on what I could do

I'm sure you can give them a more casual funky twist. Funny I don't actually think of Rene's kits as formal. Remember you can also recolour the kit pieces if you don't want to change your photo. Just an extra added challenge for you. :D

come on Jennie, you have to join in - you do have quite a few kits there from Rene, and as Julia and Melissa have said you can recolour, de-saturate, use freebies, blend paper, do an all journalling LO, what about free style or funky - Challenge yourself Jennie, you wouldn't want to miss out on those fabby PB's that Rene' is offering.

I don't think of Rene's kits as formal at all . . .. more like fiun and funky. See how many layouts you can make from just one kit. Mix and match, . . . . using only 2 of the papers for each layout you can really stretch them. Create some of your own word art and you are off to the races.

The quick answer is NO Helene, Rene has more than 5 alpha's in the store so therefore if you want to use an alpha on your LO's it MUST be one of Rene's.

I don't want to be the Alpha police so if you know that you've used another designers work on a LO submitted for this challenge, then please replace it with one of Rene's alphas or remove the link. Failure to do so could result in you not qualifying for the PB's or a prize, if your name is randomly drawn and that would really make us very sad.

Carolyn, I got my bonus for 5 layouts, but not for 10 yet. According to Lynnie, she was waiting to hear back from Rene, and I suspect Rene is on vacation or busy with family since Bingo was cancelled on Friday. I had my forst 5 layouts done before the 15th of the month....which was the first bonus sending. I think Lynnie said she would only be sending out 2 times during the month. One mid-month and then after the end of the month.

Hi,

I wasn't waiting on Rene', I was just wrapped up with family stuff and trying to get caught up with DET. So sorry. I can't send them out before the end of the month and the first is generally a pretty busy day for me with work (yes, even on a weekend!).

I actually had Sandy down as having completed her 10 and thought I had sent hers out earlier in the month, which is why she wasn't included. I have sent.

Hopefully we are all okay!
