Week 3 – Tall Tales… 20 May to 26 May…is all about story telling, but not in the normal journaling sense, we will be using different categories to tell our stories. Extract from 42explore “A tall tale is a uniquely American story form that features a larger-than-life, or superhuman, main character with a specific task, a problem that is solved in a humorous or outrageous way, exaggerated details that describe things larger than they really are, and characters who use everyday language. Many tall tales are based on actual people or on a composite of actual people.” So for this week’s challenge our stories can be as creative as you like, go BIG - Exaggeration is the major element in tall tales.

Create a layout using the prompt below and upload it to the Oh! My Word (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/showgallery.php?cat=5864) Gallery. Check the introduction to this challenge here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31603) for clarification.

Tall Tales prompt for this week is: Tell us about you last cooking failure and WHY it failed.
Remember - Exaggeration is the major element in tall tales.

:) Some Clarification for the prize: This is a 4-week long challenge with a different theme each week. You can decide whether you want to create a layout for one or all four of the weekly challenges it’s totally up to you. However, if you do enter all four weekly challenges you’ll be in the random draw at the end of the month for a store coupon to the value of $3.99. Example - 4 layouts, one in each weekly challenge. For the rest of the challenge introduction check out the link above.

Some really simple rules:

* Please use only DSP products
* Ploppers and QC’s are OK
* Must include some journaling or themed title
* Your LO can be ANY style, even a none traditional style, a style all your own, in fact, let your hair down and go creatively wild!
* You can have any number of photos or none at all
* Your LO can do double duty as long as you put a link in the forum for that week, especially if you intend to do all four challenges. How will I know to include you in the draw otherwise
* Please comment generously on other member’s layouts in this challenge. I know I don’t really need to ask you that because you’re all so good at it anyway.

Have fun with this challenge - anything goes... :yahoo::yahoo:

Well, here is my tall tale for this challenge. It was a tough one since I'm not used to exaggerating and being this descriptive. But it was fun.

I didn't have to exaggerate for this one--it happened pretty much like I've described. Although I enjoy cooking and think I'm pretty good at it, I can claim all manner of mistakes usually because I don't pay enough attention to everything that's cooking. I can't tell you how many times I've boiled away the water when attempting to steam broccoli, and you can probably imagine the odor once the broccoli starts to burn. Anyway, this was a good cooking failure because I managed to recover from it, but that is definitely not always the case.

This cooking story is hard to exaggerate, because the tale is just so awful...but the pictures are nice touch of exaggeration, I think. :) If you can be grossed out easily by bugs, don't look.....

Too bad I had to miss this one. The week-end was just too crazy for me. I work in a hotel and a restaurant so that means working harder and longer hours at both jobs over a holiday. Looking forward to week 4.

It was decided at the chat that those who wanted to could do a LO at anytime for any week during that month, so feel free to place a LO for week 3 before the end of May. I must have a link in the thread though. You could even do all four weekly events together as long as they are in before the end of the month. I must post this info in the first thread - I forgot :yikes:
