I bought "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton" on DVD this weekend. I had never seen the movie, but it looked really sweet, and I hoped I hadn't throw my money away.
Well, I didn't! It's SO sweet, purely adorable, heart wrenching at times, but wonderful. I was NOT disappointed in the least.
Ok, so its one of those stories that has been told a million times in a million ways (unrequited love), but......... this movie was just put together in a very sentimental, sweet way!
I'd recommend it!

This movie ROCKS!! Do you know how sometimes you want a movie to go on longer...or sometimes you're like man that wasn't worth 2 hrs of my life....
This movie was absolutely PERFECT!!! The ending was right on the whole story line really was great...
I love jennifer garner in Alias & thought this movie would be good but it was better than good it was GRRRREAT!!!!
I want to go see it again this time with my dh (i might have to trick him) :-) I haven't seen a movie in a really long time...so this was totally satisfying and Terrific...Please go see it you will love it. And your kids too...there wasn't any gross or inappropriate parts...just cute!
Sorry Amber, I'm slow! I just made the kernel thing up after I posted about the movie ;)

I agree with Elizabeth- this movie was AWESOME! Jennifer Garner is so cute in this movie- she was so funny and so convincing in her role! Even though this movie is on the same lines as Big with Tom Hanks- this movie has a much better ending than Big did!
I definitely will go see this movie in the theater again and will buy the movie on DVD. This movie beats out Legally Blonde as my all time favorite movie!

Yes amber!!! does top my list...it was soo complete. Jennifer Garner has it all as an actress....action, comedy i'm sure if she takes a dramatic role she will rock too!!!
Planning on seeing 13 going on 30 with my MIL, so thanks for the 2 great recommends! :D
FYI, I LOVE Big, so this should be REALLY great :)
Ok, I'm torn on this one. It's a bit odd at times, and risque... but...
There are SO many story lines going on at once (yet, all the characters know one or the other, think of a Kevin Bacon chain, kwim? 1 knows this one, and this one is friends with that one, who is related to the other one, ya know?). I gave it 3 kernels cuz I am a sucker for happy endings and while most of them ended up happy, not all of them did. Two of the most heartbreaking cases, imho, didn't wind up happy in the end...... HOWEVER, I DID watch it twice within a 24 hour period, b/c it pulled me in that much, maybe it IS a 4 kerneler! .. 3.5 kernels maybe? LOL!!
Being an British film, it starred SO many of my fav actors from across the pond:
Colin Firth (yum)
Hugh Grant (yum)
Emma Thompson
Alan Rickman
Keira Knightly
Liam Neeson (i know he's a scot) was also in it
Rowan Atkinson (in a very minor role)
and some tasty new guy i want to see more of!!! (I just found his name-Andrew Lincoln- can you Brits tell me if he's famous over there? and if not, WHY NOT?? ;))

I saw 13 Going On 30 today and I definately give it 5 kernels!!! I laughed, I cried, and laughed some more!!! Really got a kick out of the 80's music! Can't wait to own it on DVD!
Borrowed Love Actually, I give it 3 1/2 kernels. Way raunchy for my taste and it didn't even have to be, KWIM? Also Andrew Lincoln is too cute!!

My husband and I went to see Envy last Friday. It was hilarious! We love the comedy of Ben Stiller and Jack Black together. Jack is so wild and kooky that you can just look at him and laugh! Interesting storyline, and Christopher Walken gives a hilarious performance. Also starring Rachel Weiss and Amy Poehler (love her!) as their wives.

I must agree with Susan MC I really enjoyed this movie...at first it wasn't very funny and I was saying Hey what's going on then it got much-o funny!! I really liked it...However I couldn't give it 5 out of 5 b/c I am still reeling from 13 going on 30 that is my new favorite for right now!! :D
absolutely delightful! :)
made me LOL and also shed a few tears!
anyone going out to see a movie this weekend?
Tell us about it! :)
VERY clever!! I love the original, which I would give 5 kernels. Sequels always have a hard time measuring up to the 1st, but Shrek 2 does a really good job of it!!! YAY for the same voices, it just wouldn't of been the same without. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE DONKEY! I so wanna bring him home, well for a few days, then I'd hafta get a big ol doney muzzle!!
Anyhoo, clever story, funny, warm, FAB animation... Good show, I say! :D

I took my kids to see Shrek 2 last week. It was hilarious, and the kids enjoyed it, but I was very disappointed in some of the content. Who wants to explain the word "sexy" to a four and seven year old? And why is it even necessary to introduce it in a cartoon? Maybe I'm just a prude, but I highly value my children's innocence and felt there were way too many unnecessary adult references and adult humor. I'd give it 3 kernels for inappropriate adult content.
Hmm... well, those things just seem to go over Tate's head, so I never worry about it.
Sexy is easy to explain to me, I'd just say it means "pretty" or "good looking".
The only thing Tate did question was the Ugly Stepsister, why she/he/it looked like a woman (his words, not mine! LOL!) but sounded like a man. I just said b/c she was the ugly stepsister, and he didn't question it. lol.
By today's standards, I'd say it was fine....... possibly sad, but true.
It *IS* rated PG, not G, so keep that in mind, folks! :D

ok, I guess this is slightly different than the other movies here, but surely there are some people who will appreciate this one here as well.
Paycheck (Ben Affleck, Aaron Eckhart, Uma Thurman, dir. John Woo) would definitely rate high, close to the best movie I've ever seen. I just watched it with my friend Chris and it was absolutely awesome. The action was incredible, the lack of objectionable matieral (other than the action violence...) was unbelievable, and the director's finely controlled sequencing of tension and release made this a fantastic movie. Oh, and the acting was pretty good too.
Anyway, if you want a great action movie (motercycle chase, lots of explosions, glass shattering, and gunfire) without objectionable matieral (bad language, blood/gore, ---, etc.) this is a fantastic movie (rated PG-13 for "intense action violence and brief language").

I saw this movie today and it was really cute. Kate Hudson was just so cute in this movie- there were some really funny parts in it. Joan Cusak plays her normal, anal retentive role- but she is really good at it.
My current favorite movie is still 13 Going on 30- but this was was really cute and I will definitely get it on DVD!
I wasn't sure what to expect of this movie, but found myself really drawn into it. Loved the father and his farfetched tales and the son's struggle with the father having to always be in the limelight.
The tales were so interesting!

We saw this movie last night and it was so funny. I had not seen the first Shrek before we went to see the second one but this movie had its own story line so I didnt necessarily need to see the first one before the second.
I did watch the first one after we got home and I think I liked the 2nd one better. Will definitely have to buy on DVD when it comes out!
:) Loved this movie...better than the first....loved Antonio's "Puss'n Boots" Character....Loved it :p

OMG- the Puss in Boots character was so funny!
Omg, this movie was SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! Not 100% true to the book, which always annoys me, and not NEARLY long enuf (only 2 hr 17 mins), but AWESOME ALL THE SAME!!!!!!!!!
Ok, so I am a TOTAL Harry nerd, but yay!!!!!! It was so great,so awesome... loved all of it from the inflating Aunt Marge to the Patronus!!!!!!!!
You could tell it was a different director, not better, but different, stylistically. Loved how Hermione came into her own in this. It is so exciting to see my favorite books played out onscreen (even if it isn't 100% true to the book).
Oh well, I ramble..............
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did I say it was awesome yet???? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :

I'm a 32 yr. old Harry Potter Fanatic!!! I teach 4th grade & read them all to my kids every year....they love it! For most of them, it's the 1st time they have ever really wanted to read a book at all!
I agree that the movie was not long enough. It could be 6 hrs and I wouldn't budge!!! I just wish it would have been a little more "magical"....if you know what I mean. I like all the classroom stuff. I don't know what I'm trying to say.....I LOVED the movie!
5++++++++ kernels from me too!
Saw it for the 3rd time yesterday and keep noticing something new each time! We may end up seeing it a 4th time. Tate wants to know WHEN ITS COMING ON DVD! lol! Sadly, not for several months :( We are reading book 5 now, so that is keeping him happy, but that won't last long.... cuz after book 5, we have to wait ::sigh::

Saw the stepford wives last weekend it was funny and had a couple startling parts...couldn't say I'd run out and get it on dvd once it comes out...but I'd suggest it as a good rental.

I took a mom's night out the other day, and saw The Stepford Wifes. Incredible cast, I enjoyed Faith Hill. There was a major insultory comment towards AOL, definitely made me laugh! I really liked it, would be a great rental, Liz! My hubby thought it would be a chick flick, but definitely not, he will enjoy it too once he sees it.

What's funny is that my dh went with me and 3 other girlfriends :) :) He thought it was funny at times too.....Yes Faith Hill did an outstanding job!! I was definitely getting a bit annoyed with the sexist attitudes...but we got payback at the end :D :D

Along Came Polly
This movie was okay, it didn't spend enough time character building so you never got attached to them. Stiller and Aniston did great in the roles (of course) and really are the reason this movie isn't a total waste. If you don't have another movie on your list above this then rent it don't buy it

I thought Along Came Polly was good..I got a few huge chuckles out of it. I'd say 3kernals I bought it, i think it is worth it..however if you not into ben stiller humor than I'd have to agree rent don't buy.
Who's seen Somethings Gotta Give & Under the Tuscan Sun?
I want to see these.... but thought I'd get an opinion first! Thanks.
FYI, Tate and I went to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for the FORTH time yesterday! Last day at our theater, so we'll have to wait til it comes out on dvd now :( UNLESS we happen to catch it at the $1.75 show 40 mins from here. hmmmm....... ;)

I haven't seen something's gotta give, but my parents walked out of it...and they don't do that very often.
I have seen under the tuscan sun and enjoyed it. nothing to rave about, but enjoyed it.

I've seen under the tuscan sun...it was pretty good...one tiny issue but overall pretty good.
Have not seen somethings got to give.
Was ok. Not fabulous, not horrible. Didn't see anything that offensive imho, it was rated PG 13, but that's just me ;)
Forgot to rate this one. We saw it a couple weeks ago. It was... um.... just ok. Tate thought it was really funny, and it was a good family film, but not toppin' my 'kid friendly' list like Harry Potter PoA and Shrek 2.
Oh, Liz, what was your tiny issue w/ under the....
pm or email me if you dont wanna post ;)
Oh- if anyone sees The Terminal, but sure to rate it. I'd like to see it! I've heard the story of that guy b4.

Well, my husband and I just saw The Terminal last night. I absolutely love Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg ain't too shabby either - so I really had high hopes for this movie. I'm sorry to say, but what a disappointment. I didn't like the plot - a lot of it seemed too farfetched. I didn't really believe in any of the characters - I won't give away any of the details but what some of them wind up doing - just not realistic. Tom Hanks' character is really likeable but that's about it. It's almost as if Spielberg just didn't know which direction to go - funny, dramatic, etc., with many of the characters.
Maybe it was just an off night for me - it'll be interesting to see if anyone else really liked it. The best part of the movie for me? My Reeses Pieces - I'd go anywhere for them.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! We caught the late showing tonight, and it just ROCKED!!!!!!!!!! So good!!! Worth the wait. Loved it. As good as the 1st one! (if not better!) :D
Andy, bummer on The Terminal. I wanted to see that, but I'll save my pennies! :(

I'll give it 5! I loved it! I really liked the first one, but I think I liked this one even better. I'm a big Tobey McGuire fan. I think he's an awesome Spiderman. He plays the geeky Peter Parker and the Superhero equally well. And we get some romance this time. That's always good :D

I really enjoyed this movie, but it is a little long. I like Nicole Kidman and Renee Zelwegger. Both were really good in this movie especially Renee. The hard part about the movie is the way it skips back and forth. I would recommend as a renter.

oooh thanks for the review...I so want to see the new Bourne movie...I really enjoyed the first one....it really made me like matt damon.
1 for photography!!
I LOVED the movie, it was great! Love Matt in the role. Awesome. As good, if not better than the original-- but the photography was jerky/shaky. I realize they were trying to be all arty, but it made me seasick. Really took away from the movie, imho..
SO..... GO SEE IT, but take your Dramamine before hand ;)

Me too ! I Love Will Smith and this movie has a great ending totally caught me off gaurd. A must see in MHO :)
This was a great movie. Very suspenseful, make ya jump kinda movie! Great story. I love M. Night Shyamalan (sp??).
Joaquin Phoenix was awesome as always and Bryce Dallas Howard (aka Ron Howard's daughter) was wonderful in her breakout role!!
As with all M. Night movies, has quite a twist! :)

I've not seen the original, but I LOVE this one. I don't think I could accept anyone else in the role of Jason. I've not read the books either, but yes, I did know there was a 3rd.
The Bourne Idenity
The Bourne Supremacy
The Bourne Ultimatum
Whoa. What a movie! Geez... VERY good. VERY engrossing. VERY twisty turny!
And who knew Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) could act like that? wow.
Good movie weekend here!
Paycheck was very good! An edge of your seat, are they gunna get caught, kinda movie!

This movie came out on DVD yesterday and I of course had to have it- along with The Princess Diaries.
I laughed so much the second time around- I just love Jennifer Garner! She is great in that role! Really made you believe that she was 13 years old in a grown ups body! This is a definite must see!
13 going on 30-
YUP! Can't wait to get it. Not sure when I'll get to town, but when I do, it'll be in my cart! ;)
It came out on DVD pretty quick, eh?
