Ohhh I see soo many posts I want to respond to, but I am running out the door for a run. I will be back later this evening, but before I left I had to check in with my fellow zeroers!! :) Okkkkkk RUNNING....literally.....be back soon!

OK I am back! Lisa, hope you get that job, but I also know what you mean. Its a hard balance between being able to give kids all your time and attention and making ends meet. Hope everything works out for the best :)
And thanks for grab up some of my kits on sale! What a deal!!! I am loving this CIJ stuff, store sales, so many fun activities!! This is my first year as a designer during it and I am having a blast!! Everything around here is SO much fun!!!
Paula---well I can tell you how long it took me to make my first PS element...I made a beaded wire frame and it literally took my about an hour! But I was playing with styles and trying to figure out what everything did without looking it up, so a lot of the time was spent just purely playing!!! LOL I am loving CS3 though...but its definitely going to take some getting used to!!!! I have yet to make element #2....hoping that one wont take quite as long!!! LOL
The grungy princess elements...hmmm.....I guess I dont know how long those elements took me. I use Super Blade Pro on beads and metals usually (now I am starting to use styles in PS) but I LOVE Super Blade Pro! And the stitching I usually do by hand, so that one probably took a bit longer....hmmm...now you have me curious...I need to time myself sometime!!! LOL

And I'm glad to know that the knee problem wasn't serious, since you went running, Nicole! and that is fascinating to hear about designing. I'd like to look over your shoulder!
I'm running but not like that...

Hello All!
My you are a chatty bunch. I haven't checked in for a while and look at all of these pages. LOL
We went camping with the Cub Scouts over the weekend. We had a good time. The campsite was sure hilly so we got our exercise walking up and down the hills. The scouts provided and cooked the food. Boy did they feed us well. We were spoiled getting all of our meals cooked for us. My son got his BB gun belt loop and his whittling chip.
Last night we went to see the San Francisco Giants play the Washington Nationals with the my knitting group. It was Stitch N Pitch night. Great game. We had a blast. This was my son's first baseball game. He was so excited about going. We took public transportation that dropped us off right in front of the stadium.
I'm glad Kerr's hubby is doing good.

Hi Dorene,
Yeah, I find myself trying to check in at least twice a day just so I don't feel like I have an hours reading to do.
Sounds like you had a busy few days. I haven't picked up a pair of knitting needles since my 2 yr old started crawling. Maybe this winter.....
Nicole, thanks for the well wishes. Glad your knee is feeling better. Gotta go scrap!!!! :)

In my experience NOBODY! I currently work part-time but if I do extra hours such as last week (worked 8 out of 9 days) nobody picks up an extra share of the laundry and other chores. Being a working Mum is definitely a double-edged sword.
No kidding - I work from home (at the computer) and when the girl at the office goes on vacation my part-time work turns into a 60+ hour a week job. With overtime! Last time this happened, I looked at the kitchen on Friday after my DH fending for himself and the boys and wanted to throw a bomb in there - laundry had piled up (like no one else can throw a load in!) and everyone had forgotten about the poor dishwasher, so dirty dishes were everywhere. I wasn't there to direct traffic - that must have been the problem! Lesson learned from this experience : If you don't, nobody else will!

webfrau---sorry about your flu-ness! hope you're feeling better!
thanks for the food input...I definitely like to make it easy (on myself!) this time of year...with the heat, running in and out, etc.
Laundry! You know, I have no problem with doing the laundry, its the folding of laundry I loathe!
Nicole, glad your knee is better! And thanks for the designer insight. I do find it all so fascinating. I really want to take some of the fabbity classes here, but I keep putting off until I get some new software. I only have Corel Photo-Paint 8 (yea, you read correctly.) And I've learned digi on it by reading the tuts here and fumbling thru my program to see how it does it. I'm almost afraid now to upgrade to something new (probably Elements) for fear I won't be able to figure it out and translate my way into it. *shrugs* I definitely agree with []scamptx[/b]--would love to look over your shoulder. Oh, Oh...you could do a youtube video or something of one of your design sessions!!:D
Beachcomber---sounds like you've have a good time. I love your knitting group name! I started knitting a couple years ago...self taught by the Stitch n Bitch Book. Well, so I thought. It wasn't until later when my Mom, who has knitted for years, was visiting and I was showing her a hat I was having trouble on. She watched me for a minute and then told me she was so surprised I was able to get thru as many projects I had with out much trouble since I was knitting "backwards" !!
I'd been wrapping/looping in the wrong direction. If that makes any sense. On a glance my work looked right, but at closer observation it was noticeable. I was so frustrated that I stopped for awhile, and have only recently started trying to re-learn!
Lisa---good luck with the job! I'm about to start looking. We had always planned for me to go back to work after the kids were both in school, but my health kinda took a turn, and with my youngest' Autism, it just hasn't worked out. Money wise though, and really insurance wise, I really need to get back out there now.
I haven't worked in over 7 years, so I'm quite nervous. I also really either need to be able to work from home or will only be able to do part-time with very flexible scheduling. We have no babysitter for the boys--it's me. So when schools out, I have to be here!
Boy...sorry for the rambling tonight!
~Paula
oh goodness this blinkie stuff is hard to figure out...still can't read it. I'll have to try again..but not tonight..its 1:30am here..so off to bed I go...gotta wake the hubby up at 5.

Lisa- I didn't know (except I did because I just read it) that you were trying for a new job- I do hope you get it. Is this the first job back after devoting all your time to the kiddy winks? If so, that first job after a break is alway hard, at least here it is.
Nicole- I'm another one who was very interested to hear what/how you make your elements. I appreciate the stitching even more when I hear that they were done "by hand".

07-24-2008, 10:23 AM
LOL....yes I could youtube myself designing but I seriously believe that at this point in my PS learning, it would be like a 30 hour long video! I am sure you would all lose interest by then!! Boy, I just got done playing in PS for another 3 hours and only have 2 more elements done! LOL This is the longest kit ever!!!! Have you guys checked out the element tutorials yet?? There are lots of cool ones for all sorts of different things on there, too!!!

webfrau.... since I was knitting "backwards" !!
I'd been wrapping/looping in the wrong direction. If that makes any sense. On a glance my work looked right, but at closer observation it was noticeable. I was so frustrated that I stopped for awhile, and have only recently started trying to re-learn!
I'm going to start here...
Don't feel bad Paula, I did the exact same thing when I started knitting. Believe it or not that was over 20 years ago.
Now, Thanks for all the well-wishes. I got the call this AM. I did not get the job. It went to someone with experience in the field. Although I had experience that would have made it easy for me to learn, I have never done that kind of job before. I'm not crying guys, I wasn't sure I wanted the job to begin with. BTW, Paula, I don't have a regular sitter either. I have a neighbor that does day-care in her home that was willing to take my youngest, but she could not take the boys after school (they only do 1/2 days this year). Another reason not to be sad about the job.
Maybe I can do NKOTB and SNL and learn enough to become a designer. Of course, I would have to invest in PS, you can start in PSE but it just won't do all the fancy stuff. Of course, DH thought he was being nice and brought home a copy of PS 5.0 recently that he unearthed at work. Anyone got a Mac it will run on? I'll buy it cheap (hehe).
Kitscrapper (ok, I know I read your name and am drawing a blank), Congrats! Your's really was my favorite.
Nicole - if you do a YouTube, I would love to watch.
Now, for the last of my ramblings:
Don't ever give a 2 year old a marker then have to go to the bathroom. Even with two 5 yr olds telling her not to, her arms and my wall were very well colored. Thank goodness for washable markers and semi-gloss paint. Although, her arms are a lovely shade of pink even after a scrubbing.
Ok, now back to scrapping or I will never finish these 4 challenges before Saturday!

Congrats Kitscrapper! Love the blinke!
Lisa sorry about the job, though I know the kids/family difficulty it would have had for you had you gotten it. Good to know you're still knitting (?)..there is hope for me yet. And, you should know to never give anything to a 2 yr old and then go to the bathroom! Hope she looks good in pink!

This Grandma hasn't been to a water park in years! Think I will have the nerve to go down one of the slides? I can see it now...headline News....GRANDMA BREAKS SLIDE AT MAJOR WATER PARK...not to mention getting hung up on her bathing suit wedgy! I think I might stick to the toddler pool to avoid any embarrassments!
Everyone have fun tomorrow and to those going to Adobe..I am so jealous!!! How many people are expected at Adobe? With all at Adobe maybe Santa will be good to all of those who were left behind!

Just dropping in to say hi, I've enjoyed reading through this crazy thread, but don't have much time these days to chat, so can't really participate much. Of course, I win way too many trivia chats to be a true zero (you may be glad to know I should be starting a Tuesday class in the fall. ;) ) My only zero is a total lack of any scrapbooking done in the last two months. Just kind of had no heart for it after losing Taz, and then had to spend a couple weeks rebuilding my computer. Now I'm just too busy with catch-up to do much other than work! I hope to at least get something done this week though, but it's just hard to find the time. I don't know how some of you can do so many pages in a week, I am in awe!

Judy, Feel free to have as much fun as you want. We took the kids to the pool this AM and I would have loved to go down the slide, but DH is stronger and you have to try and keep the kids faces from going under (my kids don't really like the water that much yet).

oh boy! DH just got a call from work (he's been on vacation today). Looks like he's going to have to work tomorrow. He's doing his best to make it after the day is over (thankfully here that is at 9 PM), but he will have to work tomorrow and Sunday. He just informed me that he is writing this day on his time card as worked. Salaried and never able to turn his phone off, even for a day!
Thanks for letting me gripe a little. It's getting really tiring having his work interfere like this all the time. We went to Seattle to visit family at New Year's and what did he do. Went to work at the corp. office on Friday. Arghhhhhh!!!!!

The 24 Hours of Booty was fun. It is a charity bike ride for the Lance Armstrong Livestrong Foundation. Our friends rode 130 miles on their tandem bike. I took some photos, just put my camera on sports auto and snapped away. This is the LO I did for them. The big dummy in the striped shirt who stepped in front of my camera is DH (lower right).

Hi y'al,
I'm back from my weekend with the Grandkids. We had a ball and took HUNDREDS of pictures! Gram didn't go down any slides but I did get in the wave pool! Then this morning I had to have hubby to the hospital by 10am for surgery. Had his gallbladder removed. It was in such bad shape they kept him over night for observation. He was doing fine when I left him about 8pm this evening, so he should be able to come home tomorrow.
I am sooooooo dissapointed I missed all the chats. From what I have read on differnt forums it sounds like it was a lot of fun. Oh, Renee, I saw your link and I took advantage of your generosity and downloaded your buttons. They are so cute!! Thanks for doing that!
Nicole, I really enjoyed all the pictures that were posted during the crop. I especially like the one of you running through the fountain!
I'll be off to the hospital in the morning then I hope I can come back and scrap to my little hearts content. I have one page done of our water park adventure. As soon as I upload it I will put the link here.

So, Nicole, you only invited us in the zero club, right...right. All the fast typers will be sleeping in anyway- hee hee!
Judy, glad you survived the water park party. And that your husband is doing well from surgery.
BTW, if you look in the forum, there's going to be another chat for those who missed the PTP on Saturday. They're doing a poll to pick what day and time to do it. I'll go get the link and post it in here. Be back in a minute.
Ok, here is the link. The polls close on Wednesday, and the chat will be on Thursday, for whatever time wins the vote.

Judy I too missed all the CIJ fun saturday. My hubby surprised my son and I by taking us to michigan's adventure Sat. He got up made us breakfast and said lets go. which was cool but secretly I was a lil bummed to miss everything. I walked in the door round 11:15pm kind of a shame to miss everything when I planned on being here. Oh well at least we have a 2nd chance for PTP
and RENEE thanks for the buttons. They are to cute. I truly feel I've gained so much from you this week. thanks for everything!
actually everyone in this thread is way helpful and of course very nice. I learned to make blinkies and used a program I don't have a clue about. getting up in time for the 2 crazy chicks chat will be my next challenge!

Hey guys, would have loved to join you this AM, but after absolutely no sleep last night I finally got 2 hours so missed it.
Renee, did the 2 links that did not get sent until Sunday (they were in the SNL forum) get added to that list? I would have to hunt through the forum to find them, but 2 people who didn't come to the chat added them later.
I still haven't even had the chance to look at everything we got. It was a real flurry of links to copy and paste at the chat. Everyone was sooooo generous. What I have looked at are incredible.
Well, off to check on Sunday Scrappers.

Did it come by PM or email? I haven't gotten mine (of course, if it came email I haven't looked yet today).
This place has been sooooooo quiet this week. We need a new topic of conversation. We've done books, movies, food, hmmmmmm..... maybe that's the problem. The only things we don't seem to have talked about is Religion and Politics (HaHa).
How about favorite TV shows? I have to admit the only 'reality TV' I watch is America's Got Talent and so far I'm pretty disappointed this season. Too many of the stupid acts getting the air time and not enough of the good stuff being shown. We are anxiously waiting for September when Heroes starts again. We have been hooked from the beginning. Sure did miss it during the writer's strike.
Well, off to check email I guess!

Mine came via email - I'm thinking different people are distributing them for different challenges, etc. so, they are all on different schedules.
About tv - the ONLY live tv show I watch is Survivor - when it is on, my boys know they had better be quiet on Thursdays at 7 or mommy will get really, really upset!
The rest I watch on DVD so I can pause or DH & I can watch on the mini-DVD player after the boys are asleep. We have all of the Star Treks, and we are currently going through Voyager. Enterprise(with Scott Bakula) and Deep Space Nine are my favorites, but we have already seen those so I am watching the others. We watched The Next Generation when it came out, so we need to watch a few seasons of other shows before we forget that one and can watch it again!
I also like HBO's Rome and 24 - movies, well, it depends on the week!

We ended watching 21. It was surprisingly good! Kept your interest the whole time and was even more interesting that it was based on a true story! Nicole, Does he like the "Cars" movie? My oldest Grandson was so excited about that movie that for months and months everything you bought him had to be "Cars" or "Lightning McQueen" related! We wanted to buy him a battery operated car to keep at grandma's (since we have more room for it than mom & dad do). OF COURSE it had to be Lightning McQueen from the Cars movie! Your little one will love the car bed! Only thing is now he can crawl out of bed real easy so you will have to stay on your toes! Mine always sneaked out of bed to raid the refrigerator! Thank goodness for Duck tape! LOL
Also...I have PS CS (no numbers after it) I found out last night i could upgrade a whole lot cheaper than buying a new program. I know I need to get myself off DIP Suites since Microsoft isn't supporting it any longer. Do you have any clue if this program will accept the update? I know it's a very OLD program. I still haven't figured out how to use it but if I download the upgrade, then I will take the beginners class for it. I tried Photoshop Elements but did not like it at all! Too much of a learning curve for this Grandma!
Bocca...Welcome to club Zero! I fit in fine here especially after last nights Bingo. All three games I had a couple of places that only needed one more number and I STILL didn't win anything! I know I'm not the only one that fills those shoes so this is a great place for all us Zero's! I'm very comfortable here plus it's a great group to belong to!

Do you have any clue if this program will accept the update?
If it qualifies for the upgrade you will have no problems. What most people don't realize is that an upgrade only affects the cost. The program you get is still the full program with one little code added that says look for this older program before loading.
Doooooo, take the class. If you were frustrated with PSE, you will find PS difficult at first. Don't let it get you down and don't give up. In the long run it is a very intuitive program. Right Nicole?
Yes Tyler LOVES the Cars movie
My 2 yr old is not as into it as much as my 5 year olds, but then she is a girl. We have sat through that movie at least 50 times if not more in the last year and it continues to be the one movie that they ask for. Of course, my kids are funny in that they don't (make that won't) watch anything that is remotely dark. One of them still refuses to watch Monster's Inc because it is too scary for him.
I won a page kit from the store from the July sketch challenge

when cars came our my hubby wanted to buy a car bed...I said no! we have one of those convertible crib thingies... he can sleep in his daybed.my kid never did anything bad when we got him into his new bed..worse thing he did was turn the tv on. which can be a loud wake up call sometimes. but the refrigerator thats never been a problem.

it says photoshop elements 2 what version is out now? guess I better just stick with what I know..until I get a new program!
Believe it or not, I still use my v2. I have v4 on my Mac (it was a Christmas gift from DH, then they came out with v6 for Mac in March). Then my laptop died and I got the new desktop. Well, DH took pity on me and brought home an old unused PC laptop so I can do stuff during the day. (The desktop is in my bedroom and I can't work on it and watch kids too, except during nap which the boys no longer take.) Any way, I loaded the old v2 on the PC since it worked on both Mac and PC.
If you want to give the PSE a try I would be glad to answer any questions that you have. Just PM me and I will do all I can to help. It's not that hard once you get used to it.

I loaded PSE2 onto my sons old computer, it wouldn't run PSE3 (which I started with) - I couldn't use it! LOL. It was nothing like as easy as the newer ones. I'm currently using PSE5.
Amy I'm sure there would be any number of people willing to help you out if you have questions. The other thing you can do is sign up for a mentor and you'll be matched up with someone who has the same or similar software.

Hi everyone. Just stopping by to say hello again. I am so behind on everything here; have layouts done but still need photos to put in them. I just can't get my grands to cooperate lately. I have a 50th anniversary to scrap the DH's aunt and uncle too.
I just got PSCS3 extended after using PSE 5. I am doing "ok?", but could be better. I don't even know what the "extended" means. There are probably many things in there that I have not discovered yet.
I got ACDsee and got all my kits loaded. I need to read up on some tuts to get the reporting features working for me. Now I use the "notes" feature in PSCS3 to keep up with my credits as I use something from a kit.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Hey guys! I see a lot of you are starting to use CS3...so since I am a newbie at this too, I thought it would be great if you ever come up with a cool trick that you want to share. Let us all know, so that we can all learn together :).....
first cool trick.....ctrl+t takes you to the transform selections so that you can edit/rotate/scale/flip your elements.....

Oh and today is my big "get-everything-that-I didnt-get-done-this-weekend-done" day. So I need to finish laundry, finish vacuuming/dusting, and my son has speech therapy today. So I am going to be in and out today!
And DD had a nasty fall this weekend, so she is vegging out and wanting "mommy" time (which is fine with me, since she is at that age where mom is not so cool anymore! LOL)
She was walking on a retaining wall and looked the other way and fell, she scraped the side of her leg up REALLY bad and has a nasty bruise, we have had gauze and wrapping on it and then try to let it air out during the morning. But it covers her whole leg from hip to knee, so she is not feeling the greatest. :( So needless to say, I wont be around all that much today!! I am going to be back for Lauren's super surprise chat tonight (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=1024&day=2008-8-4&c=1)!!!!! You better come too!!!! ;)

I was using PSP12! So CS3 (Photoshop Creative Suite 3) was a huge change!!!
So did you like PSP12, and what made you decide to switch? I use DIP, and love it, but there are limitations. So I've been picking people's brains on what programs they use, and recommend. I'm looking for a program that will have the most bells and whistles, for designing, plus the easiest to use. I won't do me any good to have a fabulous program that I won't be able to make heads or tails out of.

Renee- you don't mention cost. I so enjoy using PSP- the good thing is that it has plenty of capability for a reasonable price:)

The best price I have seen for this program is through AcademicSuperstore.com for 297.00 and it's the extended version. They also carry a bunch of tutorial books to go along with it. Amazon and others are still showing this program for 600.00!
If you have previous Photoshop programs, you might be able to upgrade for 199.00 which I think I may do since I have the first version of CS which is pretty OLD! As you can tell, I haven't done it yet though! I really think about spending all that money when the program I am using is working fine for me but I know if I really want to learn and keep up with the times, I may have to break down and do it!

Got another cool trick - when you right click on a blending option (drop shadow, stroke, outer glow, etc) that you have applied to a layer it separates the effect from the layer. I used this one of my recent layouts HERE (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=273523&ppuser=72609) On the date type, I wanted it to have the same orange color as the background, but I did not want to apply it to the outer glow, because that would make the outer glow 100% and look really icky. If you separate the effect from the layer, you can group the text with the background and then the outer glow is just that, a glow! Cool :)
one more-ctrl+G groups the layers together - if you want to fade a picture out, just draw a graduated screen on one layer, group the picture above it and tada - you have a picture that fades

not quite a cool trick but a great feature I just learned about in PS CS3, perhaps other versions too..??
While you are in your scrapping document you can go:
- file
- select 'place'
...and the file you want will be placed directly into your document without you having to open it up in a separate file, copy, close the document, and then paste into your project.....

Hello the Zeroes. Can I come to play? I must qualify as a zero because I can't even get on to chat! I have done everything suggested and even emailed dsp 4times but still not had a reply so I suppose they are busy sorting out the server.
I just spent a few hours reading all your threads - dedicated or what? and can say the PB and banana is fine with me but my husband has tuna and banana sandwiches which is disgusting! Chai tea is also a winner but my chai spices are stuck in my missing suitcase from recent trip to Zanzibar (the spice island!) and our local coffee is also great (no we don't have a Starbucks here!!)
Reading - absolutely everything that has words. Even shampoo bottles if I run out of books. Movies not that bothered but will watch one now and then. TV - I haven't had one for 10 years but someone lent me Heroes on DVD and we are totally hooked and waiting for Series 3.:yahoo:
Scrapping on PSCS2 - thought I was getting a little understanding of what was going on then just read your threads and realised I don't even know what you are talking about!! (Knew about the ctrl t though). I find I spend a lot of time browsing DSP then run out of actual scrapping time so am going to do some scrapping with the stars in Sept even though Gundimom is very scary!!:yikes:
Am going on another little holiday this week but only to Lake Malawi so will be off-line for a while (if I take my laptop my husband will probably murder me although i could get loads of scrapping done without the distraction of the internet). I love school holidays - teacher! - and my little boy is too young to know the difference but he is just happy mummy is home for a while. Will catch up with you all later but its of to bed now for an early night.

Hi guys! Well, this turned into an event filled day. Shortly after my earlier post I was taking care of laundry when my 2 yr old came crying to me. She and her brothers had been in the back yard (not 30 feet from me) and one of the boys had thrown, or somehow, gotten a large handful of dirt in her face and eyes. I tried to rinse her eyes, but ended up calling DH home from work. We couldn't get it all out and ended up taking her to the Dr. Thankfully the neighbor took the boys while we were gone. It took DH, a nurse, myself and the Dr. to hold her down while he got the last of the dirt (and wood chips) out of her eyes and checked for scratches. No damage thank goodness, just one very traumatized little girl. Did I post last week when the same brother actually put a wood chip in her eye? That one came out with some eye drops and tears here at home.
Hmmmmmm..... how do you teach a 5 yr old how dangerous this is?

Aggggggggh...I need to vent!! I have been working on downloading the upgrade to PSCS3 ALL Day!! And I do mean all day!! I went ahead and purchased the upgrade since I already have PSCS. I downloaded it, got my new serial number, entered it then it asked for my old serial number. That's when the trouble started! I found it, entered it over and over again and all I came up with "invalid number". Finally, this afternoon I went to their site and got on a chat with customer service only for them to tell me I had to CALL customer service. Call and wait they mean! I waited and waited, finally got someone online (who couldn't speak english very well) only to find out he wanted me to download it again! Told me to download it, get it back to the area of serial number and to call back with a case number. Did everything I was supposed to do, called them back waited on line over 30 minutes. Finally hung up, called back only to hear a recording "You have reached customer service after working hours"! Their web site says it's open until 8pm Pacific time, but their recording says closing time is 5pm Pacific time. Now why couldn't this guy had told me it was getting close to quitting time when he had me do all this mess over again. So.....I have a program I downloaded but can't use! (I can sort of use it, they gave me a 30 day free trial, but that's not the point!) Don't they know they are messing with a menopausal woman????? LOL I could have been scrappin' all day! whewww....thanks for letting me vent. I guess tomorrow is another day....

On the up side, I just got a great deal on a new laptop and my pscs3 shipped out, not UPS, this morning. oh, my printer/scanner will be ready for pick-up on friday. Talk about CIJ, how about CIA! Judy, I had trouble loading my PSCS, too, it turned out to be something with my computer not PS. But I was beginning to think I would never get to use it.
Gintal, I'm trying to find a good laptop. I thought I had found just the right one for the right price. The specs did not list a modem so when I called, I found out that I would have to purchase one. Who has ever heard of a new laptop not having an internal modem? I know I don't know much about computers, but I thought all laptops had them.
Where did you find your good deal, if you don't mind sharing?

checked with dealnews.com and found a hp listed for less than $600. the ad was from besybuy. it does have internal modem, never heard of one without it, but the selling point, other than the price was the expandable ram, comes w/3G will go to 8G, and the video ram. would have rather had a mac, but my they are pricey. lol.

Ok, my turn to vent, but only after:
Woohoo! Gram on the PS purchase. Glad you finally got things going!
Woohoo! Carolat, great news on the eating. 2 out of my 3 ate so little dinner last night they got up sick to there stomachs this AM. I feel your thrill because I know it all too well. What brand were the steak fingers, maybe I can give them a try.
Now the vent: I posted my question about the chat last night, and promptly lost internet. I showed a strong signal on the wireless but couldn't go anywhere. Since DH works for the provider I gave him a call, "Hey what's wrong with the internet connection?" "Don't know I'll get back to you." 5 minutes later, I lose all TV. Call DH again. "All h#$@ is breaking lose, I'll get back to you" 5 minutes later, DH calls me "We've lost everything, I won't be home for dinner!"
He did wander in about two hours later, but no TV, no Internet until nearly 10PM last night (it was 4 PM when things went bad). What happened, you say? A hay truck ran into a power pole that included the fiber line that carries the signal for both the TV and Internet connections all across the county. The truck caught fire, burning the pole and the lines on it. At least we had power. This particular problem does not fall in DH's job description, BTW. It took the crew more than 5 hours to repair the damage and they won't be completely done with the clean up until the pole is replaced later this week.
So, I missed the chat :(!!!!! Not as big a bummer maybe as Gram's problems, but still a bummer! At least I had a new book to read. Based on the many posts regarding Stephanie Meyers Twilight series, I picked up the first one the other day. Must be good as I am already 1/2 way through it. HaHa

Right now, it is a poster in Alexander's room, but I'll have to do a layout sooner or later. Got to credit you for the idea, Julia! Might make it a two-pager (I feel like I need to explain WHY he only eats 20 things!)
Hi everyone, I haven't been around for a few days between a family reunion this wkend and this week taking my son to VBS-vac.bible school...for some reason at the moment I can't back track to read older post...but I see your talking about kids eatting habits.
Don't get me started....! My boy ate like a king when he was little. Crab legs, crab cakes, the finest meat, he loved broccoli. He loved everything! Now he doesn't want to eat any of that-which fine, its kind of understandable. But he refuses to try anything new. My DH gets so mad about it. I don't think its worth the fight..I make him try it, if he doesn't want it- so be it. I just think that's the way 4 year olds are. Oh one thing I do that makes my DH so mad is that, while making my son try foods he may cry. I tell him to stop crying and acting like a baby. Now we all know it seems there is a holiday or something to celebrate every month. This is what my hubby hates. I say while son is crying and acting like a baby..try it, stop acting like a baby..."ok, guess Santa, Easter bunny etc. Bday gifts need to be baby toys" of course my soon to be 5 yr old doesn't want baby toys! He'll always open his mouth and choke down the food threw tears. Right about then he'll yell, "mom you know I'm allergic!" which btw he's not allergic to anything.
Some of the foods he's "allergic" to:
Mac n cheese ? Thought kids loved this- he's never eattin it
Spaghetti- some days I feed him slimy worms w/ red sauce, he'll eat worms!
Mashed potatos
Any cold salad, mac or pot
Crunchy peanut butter, loves smooth
Ranch dressing, used to eat it..now its eeewww, I'm allergic!
Real fish, loves fish sticks
Loves: bread, eggs, cereal, eggdrop soup w/ rice, chicken nuggets, frys or tatertots
And hopefully he'll eat steak frys soon! Gotta try those!

Still very lucky about food but it is early days. he eats everything and will break down doors for plain, natural, unsweetened yoghurt. He also likes green olives just like daddy - yuck!

Kids and food. Oh how we can go on! Yogurt? The boys will only eat "Yellow Lunch" known to the rest of the world as vanilla yogurt, but the youngest won't even touch it. Her favorite is Black Cherry (just like Daddy). BTW, the name began with a local brand and their Lemon flavor, because it had no fruit pieces in it. The transition to Vanilla was made easier by calling it the same thing.

We also have a 2 year old Grandson who is a very picky eater. This little boy won't eat anything with meat in it. Doesn't like any cooked veggies but loves raw veggies. Maybe he will end up to be a vegatarian unlike the rest of his family who seem to like meat and potatoes!

When my boys were little, one survived on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and one loved fish sticks. I couldn't get them to try anything without a battle so I guess I just gave up. They are still picky eaters today, but they come by it honest. My DH is picky, too.
Now I have two DILs who are picky and three DGS who are, too. I can't fix one meal that all of them will eat. I'm the only one in the family who will eat just about anything or at least try it. LOL!

Hello All.
Just dropping in to say Hi and I'm back from vacation. Trying to catch up on things and sleep while we were gone. Our week long rode trip was longgggggggggggg.
We had a great time. We went to Yosemite smoke and all from the fire that was burning near there. There was no power in the park except for their generators. We went to the Grand Canyon, went to Sedona and then on to Disneyland to meet up with hubby's family. The weather in Yosemite was warm but pleasant, Grand Canyon was warm but hot the second day, Sedona was hot and Disneyland was warm the first 2 days but hot the third day we were there.
My son ate everything when he was little now all he wants is pasta! He eats a lot of pasta, noodles, etc. I am trying to get him to eat more vegis. He every morning he has cereal for breakfast. He used to eat waffles, pancakes, eggs, etc for breakfast. I'm having trouble finding something to make for his lunches because he won't eat sandwiches anymore. What do you do? (Sign)

Gosh I am so lucky. Food has just never been an issue in our house. Ds has always had a healthy, varied appetite. He's always loved very adult things - olives, feta and the like. The only thing he doesn't like is mushrooms and he used to eat those before he started school - I'm sure one of his friends said something about them.
Fact is round here I cook once and you either eat what I've made or you starve. Maybe he learnt early!! :)

Hey Guys! I just found something new in CS3 (probably not new at all, it has likely been there since 7.0 or earlier and I just stumbled upon it) Anyway, I always thought Photoshop was more of a photo-editing program - lets face it, they have some awesome tools for photo editing, not really graphics placement. In Quark, InDesign, Pagemaker - even Illustrator it is relatively easy to find a "control palette" where the exact coordinates are and you can place by the numbers instead of eyeballing it. In photoshop, I have always opened up the different layers of a QC, copied and pasted into my doc and everything is fine. Well, tonight I was working with a 2 page QC and everything went into the center of the doc - not good. So I needed a way to get it 6 inches to the right or left - EXACTLY - so the rest of the QC would line up. I tried place and tada! coordinates came up and I could move the object according to that AND it used the original image area as a measurement. So cool :) Sam(DH) was even happy because I was so excited!

I am off to the fair tomorrow! Iowa has a fantastic fair (seen the musical State Fair???) so we have a day of seeing butter cows, eating funnel cakes and enjoying all that the fair has to offer!
Don't the butter cows melt in the sun???
Seriously, do you mean butter sculptures or real cows that produce milk for butter?
What are funnel cakes???

I looked up funnel cake so that I wouldn't give you a bad description. Here's a link for you to check them out: Funnel Cake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funnel_cake). They are a completely yummy treat found at most state and county fairs here in the U.S. They get their name because the raw dough is dropped through a funnel into the hot grease. (You could compare them to a donut.)
The pictures we saw on the news were life size cows carved out of butter. They were behind glass so I would guess they were refrigerated.
Hope this helps.

Ohhh wow, have i mentioned how much I love the zoo??? We went to the Omaha Zoo yesterday and it was SUCh a blast!! I am TIRED though!!! That is A LOT of walking!! I forgot how hilly it was!!! My favorite was definitely the Gorillas that were taunting the people!! Even going so far as to fling poo!!! I am NOT joking!!!! And beating on the windows!! It was SOOO funny!!!
I also loved seeing the Desert Dome, there is a "Night" time part underneath where it is BLACK, I am talking VERY VERY dark and very faint lights lighting up the animals. So I am leaning over, (cuz you cant see the signs to see what you are looking at!) and trying to squint my eyes really tight to see if I can figure out what is in the pond looking thing...and there it was a MASSIVE albino crocodile or alligator (see, I dont even know what it was!!!) but it was BIG and scary and moving!!! I pulled my head back really quick!! (not that it could reach my head, but BOY you can get REALLY close to those animals!!!
I also thought it was funny to see a man (full grown man) in a diving outfit cleaning one of the tanks, but the tank was TINY, so he is all crammed in there with some sea horses and some sea dragons (did you know there was such thing????) and he is cleaning away and all the kids are laughing and pretending that he is part of the display!!!
Oh we had SUCH a blast though!!! I will have to get all my photos sorted through!! And get some uploaded!!! Hmmmm I am feeling a zoo kit coming on!!!!

Sounds like you had great fun at the zoo - I spent the week resting at the lake (Lake Malawi) but have found out that although I belong to the zero club I must be the 1st -1!!! I know I will never get even get 1 point at a chat because i can't get chat! DSP replied and there is no problem their end so I asked a techie here who said its probably a bandwidth problem - I just smiled knowingly.... So does that make me the first negative???
But thanks for posting the advice about the "place" in PSCS (I have CS2 and know I don't use it to the max or even the min!). I have just gone through my quick clicks and placed all the bits and set them all up in the folder ready to use. Now when I want to use one I just add the fun stuff and save it under another name so its there ready to use again. A bit obsessive eh?

I cant wait, this will be the kids first visit and my first visit in over 20 years. I can't wait, and Nicole I just know that you will make the best ever zoo kit.

Just popping in to see everyone quickly! We're on vacation for a week in Vancouver right now. It was a 2 day trip so I made sure to download some good i-tunes and I actually splurged on the audiotapes of the first book of Twilight that everyone seems to be enjoying lately.....only listened to 2 chapters so far....*grin* Might have to finish the rest on the treadmill once I get back home. Meanwhile my 3 boys are having a blast with their cousins; 2 year old twins, and my sister is due to pop her 3 in a few weeks, so in between enjoying some cappuccinos I hope to give her some quality rest time. :)
Oh, and she's strapped for a boy name if the next one is a boy so if anyone has some boy name suggestions just shoot them my way! After all, DSP does have some of the most creative thinking people around *wink*
The twins are William and Maya and the third will be .........

Hello All.
I haven't been to our zoo in a while I think a zoo trip is order. My son is going back to school in 8 days! His birthday is this friday the 22nd so we are busy planning a family get together. After he starts school we are going to do a kids party that way everyone will be back from vacation.
I'm trying to figure out what we are having next weekend when the family comes over for his b-day celebration. Since we got back from vacation, I have been watching what I eat so I'm trying to come with food that is healthy for his party.

Well, I'm partial to the names Andy and Jesse, the names of our boys. Other ideas would be Ben, Sam, Jason, Alek. I tend to like the older names rather than the current popular names, where your child will be in a class with several others with the same name. We had the name Cody picked out for one of our boys, but before he was born, everyone under the sun was naming their boys that, and so we chose differently. Which I'm glad we did, because all while he was growing up he never participated in any activity that didn't have at least two Codys in it.

Hi All,
I'll just pop in here too to say Hi. I broke down today to try to teach myself this PSCS3. I printed off a tutorial and asked a bunch of question on the New to PSCS3 forum. The best hint I received today was to use the "Place" button. Wow...did that make things so much easier! Prior to that I was opening every element, picture and whatever I thought I would use which confused me royally! (Remember, I am an OLD lady so teaching an old dog new tricks is sometimes hard! LOL) I worked and worked on a very simple LO ALL day but finially posted it!
Mommy And Me (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=275872&ppuser=111707) I can't even begin to tell you how many hours I spent on this simple LO!
Now I have my confidence built up, printed off a few more tutorials and made my very first paper strip elements. I think I'm on a roll now! I think I just might like this PSCS3!! I love the shadowing it does for you too. Wow! What a difference from DIP! Still a lot of bells and whistles I have to learn tho!

I had a wisdom tooth extracted today. First tooth I've ever had to have pulled by a dentist. I put extracted is in italics because my dentist told me that yanked is not the correct term. But when your sitting in pain, getting the offensive tooth out of your mouth by any means, even if that requires yanking, is what you want. But now I'm sitting here hurting far worse than the abcessed tooth ever did, and the pain meds only work for the first hour and a half, and I have to wait for four. I'm actually cheating and taking it every 3 1/2. I know it will only get better, and some day, hopefully soon, I will be glad I had it extracted, but right now the pain is all I can think of. Anyone else out there had their wisdom teeth out? How soon should I start feeling better? My husband and I leave for our 20th anniversary trip on Friday, and I am hoping the pain will all be gone by then.

aww, poor nicole, your never alone. well actually school is starting soon... :( guess we'll be alone soon.
Kindergarten chat is all I can think of right now. DJ's preschool didn't recommend him moving to K..but we can't afford $200 a month again for preschool. Hopefully he'll be alright. I think i'm putting him in K..I change my mind every day. tomorrow is the practice bus ride..plan on going to that so...I don't know~ I think we're gonna try the "big school" this year. what do u guys think about this..is teacher said, motor skill and emotionally he's a lil behind. I figure if he needs to be held behind, so be it. But being a only kid in the house I think I've babied him. perhaps being on a schedule and learning and playing with kids all day is what he needs.

Sorry, you are feeling so lonely Nicole. My house is topsy-turvy since school started. They do staggered enrollment for pre-k and so 2 days a week all my boys go to school and on the other days only my oldest. And the hours are different too. So, my schedule is a jumbled mess. And soccer just started. Fortunately, they all practice at the same time. But the twins, 4yo, will only play if I'm out their playing with them. Wonder if they will give me a jersey? Oh, and did I mention my cs3 struggles. I FINALLY got those all straightened out, but am so drained right now, I just sit and stare at the screen, wondering if I even have time to start something. So, anyway, that's why this ZERO hasn't been very chatty lately. Love ya.
oh renee, teeth being removed is never fun. I've actually had no problem..with the exception of the pain...but were tough! u can handle it. I've had 5 teeth pulled all the wisdom and obviously 1 extra. I've had all my pulled by the dentist..my hubby on the other hand had 2 pulled (1 side of the mouth) they sent him to a specialist..guess it was pretty bad..my DH said his chest even hurt from the knee in his chest holding him down. LOL...don't know if that was true or not..but he needed stiches...which I never had..do u have stiches RENEE? I hope not. soon the ache in your jaw will go away and you'll be left with a soft hole...which your tough will love to play with.. :P

Alexander was in Kindergarten last year and had severe fine motor skill problems. He did fine. The first week was a bit rough, but this year it is on to 1st Grade. I think you should go on and put him in K. As you said, if he needs to be held back, they will tell you.

How old is your son, Amy? Sometimes boys do better starting at 6 rather than 5. We kept our oldest son home one extra year and started him at 6. And I thought he'd be the oldest boy in kindergarten, but it turned out that all the other parents in his class did the same thing with their sons, with the exception of one who started at five, and ended up being pulled out halfway through the year since he wasn't quite ready. I'm not saying that all boys should wait till 6, but many boys just need another year of staying home and just being a boy. Nothing wrong with that. It all depends on the child, and if they seem ready to start. It's amazing what a difference one year can make. They do say that girls mature faster than boys. $200 a month is a lot of money. There are lots of things you can do with your son at home to ready him for school. And just getting together with kids his own age a couple of times a week can be just as good for him as putting him in a formal setting.

Well I am getting ready for school too but the other side of the desk! My little man is only 15 months so he gets to stay home all day and play. Here its common for kids to start school at 2 or 3! Jack (which is a great name for those looking for fantastic boys names - short and simple) wont be starting for quite a while but he goes to baby group twice a week to play with kids his own age. Really its for the mums to drink coffee, eat cake and moan about their husbands but the kids get to play too!!
AND about teeth - my brother had 8 taken out at once!! The wisdoms and the ones just in front. He isn't a masochist but he is at sea a lot so they had to do them all at once while he was on land. His was a general anasthestic though so he didn't know much about it - apparently they dislocated his jaw to do the op. He came out of hospital and demanded a roast chicken dinner so don't think he was too traumatised.
Sorry I haven't been to chat - pretty sure I could make it easily with my time difference but haven't got the bandwith to chat (not sure what that means but it sounds good!) so will keep catchingup with all the news here.

Boy, nice to visit and see all the new posts! I sure know what you meant by 'All By Myself', Nicole.
Missaboo, think positive and you will be fine. The pain should at least be down to a dull roar by Friday.
Amy, you are the best judge of your child's readiness for school. Yes the preschool teacher has good advice, but you need to be in charge of the final decision (I was a teacher many moons ago). If nothing else, you can decide to let him do Kinder for 2 years. The curriculum for that age is not such that he will get too bored doing that. And in the meantime, he will have progressed. He will probably do better than any one thinks.
It's hard to believe that my twins will be starting Kindergarten in just a couple weeks. Our schools start right after Labor Day. They start the Kinder's on Thursday the 4th. We've already done the bus thing for preschool (long story, but it was part of the Early Intervention program here since my boys didn't talk until they were 3). I'm trying to figure out what Raichael and I are going to do mornings a week all by ourselves. I don't have a car so parks and McDonalds are out.
Well, it's nice to here from you all for a change, now back to work.

Hi Everyone!
Nicole...empty nest syndrome hitting you early?? LOL You'll love the extra time on your hands even tho you still have another one at home!
Amy! Many many years ago when my kids were in school...gosh I sound old! My daughter who was only 4 at the time but would turn 5 a month later, was tested for kindergarten and scored very low. The school advised me to put her in for that year with the understanding they would probably hold her back. They said if any thing, she will retain something she learned from that year. At the end of the year they did pass her on to first grade only because at that time kindergarten was 1/2 day. In first grade the teachers had more time to work with her. By the end of first grade her reading was not up to par so we decided to hold her back for another year which was the best thing we could have done for her.
Renee, Hopefully your mouth is feeling a little better by now. I have had a tooth extracted but I chickened out and went to an oral surgeon so he could put me under. I woke up and it was all done, don't remember a thing! The happy drugs he gave me afterwards knock me for a loop, so I slept for about 3 days! You should be fine by the weekend. Where are you going for your Anniversary? Congratulations on 20 years! These days not many last 20 months!
Gintal...get that PS working. Let me tell you, I LOVE it!! I really think my pages turn out so much better and have better shadows that everything looks like it's supposed to without any effort. I still have a long way to go, but just doing 2 LO's with it so far...all I can say is I am impressed!

Hi everyone - we just picked up my BIL from school (college - he is working on a doctorate) and he just asked me for romantic advice - now that's weird! I don' have any brothers, so I have never really thought of things from a guys point of view, other than my husbands! We're going to Stillwater, MN for our anniversary trip. About 60 miles from here. It's a cute little old town on the edge of the St. Croix River, and we drive through it every time we go to visit my family in the Twin Cities. I've always wanted to spend a day checking the place out, and we thought that would be fun for our 20th. We're staying two nights, and on Saturday are taking a dinner/concert ride on one of the big ol' steam paddle boats. We're looking forward to it. Hopefully my tooth, or should I say mouth- since the tooth is no longer there, will not act up at all this weekend. Yesterday I was 99 percent free of pain, but today it ached pretty much all day.
Have a great weekend everyone! Don't have too much fun while I'm away! :)

Renee -- Happy 20th Anniversary! Sounds like a nice anniversary trip. I have never been on a steam paddle boat, that sounds like fun. I hope your mouth doesn't act up. Enjoy your trip.
Carolat -- hmm romantic advice that is interesting.
Nicole -- my son will be starting 3rd grade on Monday. Tomorrow he will find out who is teacher is. Tomorrow I have to remember to go to the school to see which teacher he got.
Tomorrow my son is turning 8! I can't believe it has been 8 years. He is growing up. He is not a baby anymore. We are having a family party on Sunday for him. We are finalizing our family party plan. Tomorrow I am taking him to lunch at his favorite place, McDonald's. His best friends will be joining us. He is all excited about his birthday, family party and having lunch with his friends.

He kept asking me this morning if it was time to go to McDonald's yet so I told it was 2 hours until it was time to go. So he set the alarm for 2 hours so he would know when it was time to go. When the alarm went off he said come on it is time to go. So we had lunch at McDonald's for my his birthday. We had a mini party at McDonald's with his friends. He wanted to pay for his friends lunches so DH gave him some money so he could buy his friend's lunches. He is such a sweet kid. He was very excited about his birthday. He has been counting the days down until his birthday. This morning he said it is my birthday today! He is such a funny kid. His friend's sang happy birthday to him and everyone in the restaurant was looking at us. :candle:  Then he opened up the presents that they had gotten him. I think he is having a good day.

I won't be able to scrap this years for 2 more weeks (the boys don't start until the 4th), but have planned to use one of your kits even (hehe). I am going to do a simple mini album and was just thinking it was time to get it started.
Dorene, by the time you read this your trip will be over. I'm sure You had a wonderful time! Congrats! 20 years is amazing.
Happy Birthday! Sounds like your kiddo is one of the best!
Well, off to lunch and the school picnic! They hold one every year apparently just before school starts and do uniform swaps and teacher greets! (Feeding the kids here since I know they won't eat picnic food).
Have a great weekend all!

Wheeeewwww, I am pooped! DH and I were GOING to do a marathon in October but bailed and decided to only do the half. The training was just taking up WAY to much of our time, and since we still have pretty young kids, we were SOOO tired and it became no fun! We will definitely do one, but probably not for a few years. SSOOOO we are doing the 1/2 (insert huge sigh of relief here!) and since that was what we were running every weekend to train for the full, then we are GOOD! Not fast mind you, but we can make it to the end with smiles on!!!! SOOOO now, since i am a HUGELY competitive when it comes to sports! I decided I am going to work on my mile time and run a one mile race in Sept. They award by age group and overall....the fastest woman ran it last year in 5:22!!! WOW,NEVER going to do that! The fastest in MY age group 20-29 ran it in 7:16 and was 5th overall. So my plan is to try to beat that time and HOPE that she is still running a 7:16 and that no one faster enters in my age group! LOL I am down to a 7:24....so 8 seconds to go....EEEKKKK AND I have been swimming cuz I was totally inspired by the olympics....Michael Phelps being AMAZING and Dara Torres and her strength and the fact that she is in her 40s! That is SUCH a motivation for me to get back in shape and in the pool! So I have been swimming swimming swimming!!!

Yes I am feeling ultra talkative with my bizzillion posts!! SORRY!!! But I wanted to share my "happy mother" moment! We were REALLY having a hard time getting Maddie (8 yrs) to ride her bike...she was REALLY scared to do it and every time we tried to get her on it, she ended up in tears....this has gone on for a few years! She has a nice big bike, but its heavy and she has a Disney Princess bike which she has outgrown. So we were teaching her on the big bike. Kept falling, kept crying, kept giving up....ALL SUMMER! Then, DH (the brilliant man that he is!) decided to try to teach her on her Disney Princess bike, cuz its smaller. So he takes her out, and within 20 minutes she is riding!!! NNNOOOWWW a couple of weeks later, she hops on her big bike and rides with no problem! WANTS to ride, ASKS to ride, BEGS me to let her go ride her bike when she gets home from school!!! I thought I was going to have a teenager with training wheels!!! I am SOOO relieved and thankful for genius husbands!!!

Happy 20th Anniversary Renee! I know you're not reading this right now as you are on your trip but just wanted to wish you a happy one! The paddle boat sounds neat! We are going to a wedding the middle of next month where they are getting married on a paddle boat then having the reception "Out to Sea". It ought to be interesting and fun! Here I was looking forward to buying a new dress but when we received the invitation they highly stressed....casual...very casual...wear shorts! Shoot...there goes my shopping trip! I don't think I'll be wearing shorts tho, it can get cool in Northern Virginia by the middle of September, not to mention being out on the water at night too!
Nicole...you make me tired just reading all the activities you have been doing! I have my 5 year old Grandson here for an extended visit and for the past couple of days he has kept us in the pool for three hours at a time without getting out at all. What a little fish he is turning into. In the meantime Gramma is wrinkling from all the water soaking. I feel like a prune!

LOL!!!! You guys are suddenly very talkative! I myself have had nearly 2 days without internet. OK, so 3+ hours yesterday and nearly that much today. My earlier post was done in the 15 minutes from when DH finally got the electricity back on until we had to get lunch going. Oh, I guess this makes no sense at all!!!!!
Back up, start over! DH has been hanging the new ceiling fan over the dining table for the last 2 days and had to turn off the power. It took hours and finally a trip to the attic trying to get it hung so that it was straight. Of course, the breaker that turned off the power there also cut the TV, internet and both kids rooms. I couldn't believe how much was on that one circuit. No wonder every time I start the vacuum anything already running dims. It was very hard to keep the kids out of the way while he worked.
Then we had that school picnic. Boy was that a disappointment. I thought we were going to meet the teacher, but he didn't even seem to be there (at least I never saw him). The boys already made their first friend. Her name is Alexandria and she is adorable. They seemed to hit it off and played together for some time.
Nicole - so great that DD finally got the hang of the bike. She just needed a confidence boost. Also, it seems really early to me that your kids have started school. Granted, I went to school in the dark ages, but we never started before Labor Day and we got out earlier in June than everyone does now. So 9/4 does not seem like an unreasonable date for the boys to start school. As a matter of fact, the way I feel about them starting kindergarten it could be even later than that. I think the other grades start on 9/2 but I don't know that for sure.
Oh, and one more thing! Are you nuts? Run, swim, bike! That would kill me! Although, I know that not everyone suffers from severe hip pain for 2 years after giving birth, but ohhhhh!!! just the thought of it hurts. LOL! Good luck on the race.

WOW Nicole how much can you do in one day??? I have started the couch potato to 5K running plan that I read about on someone's blog (it may even have been yours!!) and I loved week 1 cos I could do it so am just downloading the podcast for week 2 which is tricky as internet has died at home and we have no elec today. I went into school to do it - I live next door. So week 2 here i come on tues.
Congrats on the anniversary and hope all the kids enjoy their first days at school. We start early Sept (1st for us teachers and 2nd for kids) but I teach high school so they are all hardened to it by now.
Good luck to all the zeroes for the week ahead!

Wow! I am a Zero...I've missed so much in this thread!
Renee..I hope your anniversary trip was wonderful and I hope the tooth pain subsided.
I had three removed at once, the other had to be surgically removed. The pain was bad for a couple of days, but the worst part for me was that the dentist actually cut the roof of my mouth with the root of one of the teeth he yanked! It was nasty. I also ended up with a "dry socket" when the stitches popped out of one. Not pleasant.
Amy..my oldest (just started 2nd grade) is considered delayed. He started kindergarten at 5 (we had planned on holding home until the following year but received were misinformed and thought we had to send him). We moved him on to 1st grade the foloowing year only because kinder was half day and we felt it pointless to repeat then. He did fantastic in first grade academically..we and the teacher still felt he was a bit behind socially and maturity wise. After many meetings and discussions we opted to let im move on to 2nd this year. We were afraid if we kept him back he would be bored with the work and begin to dislike school. The 2nd grade work is a bit more involved and challenging so I don't think it will be an issue there to hold him back this year.
You are correct though..being around other kids will make a tremendous difference.
Beachcomber...sounds like you have a wonderful young man and I'm glad he had a great birthday!
Nicole..what can I say? You totally exhaust me. Run, swim, bike...sounds like the Triathalon to me....You're my hero!
Hooray for your mommy moment! And I'm glad to hear someone else having the same problem with the bike. My oldest is 7 (in May) and refuses to learn his bike. He got one for his 5th birthday...still has training wheels. He panics at the mere mention of removing them or trying to ride without....worried he may fall. I thought boys liked to fall??!??!?
My kids started school Aug. 12th...so you're all late!
Hugs!

Hi All!
I know the south likes to start early! Seems backward to me as they have the heat and the north has snow days to contend with. My folks live in Florida and say there schools are already in too.
Have a question for you all!!!!
How much does the tooth fairy bring? The older of the twins has suddenly started developing his first loose tooth. And boy is it loose. I know it will be gone before weeks end, probably next couple of days. Tooth Fairy is one tradition I don't want them to miss. Just want to see what others think is appropriate.
