HIi there,

I am using the tutorial to try and create my first page. I am using PSE I have put a picture on the page, added elements. But one of the elements was a little frame and I am trying to journal in that frame and its not letting me. Is there soemthing I am missing? Also when I added the frame to my layers it left like a white paper behind it. Is there away to make it blend in with the paper I put it on top of?

Another question I was trying to add another picture but haivng trouble making it fit just right. Is there a place somewhere on the site that shows you steps more specifically. Like, I went to image at top of PSE typed in I want it 2 x 3 it didnt do it. am I missing a step? is there a quick step to make them smaller?
Sorry for all the questions. newbie here
Thanks:eek:

Hi! Is your frame a .jpeg or a .png file? If it is a .jpeg, it will have a white background. If that is the case you can use the magic wand to select all the white and delete it so that your background will show through.

I'm not a precise scrapper, so size isn't normally an issue for me. You can crop a copy of your photo to that size and then insert it in your LO. You can also use a clipping mask but that will take a tutorial...Let me see if I can find the link for you.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Thanks I am using PSE 6. Also I was wondering is there a way to type in text under the pictures. Do I need to do it on each layer or can I do it after I have the page I want it?
Thanks for all your help.

In PSE6, you can't drag .png files up from the photo bin onto your layout for some reason or it puts the white background behind it. Instead, you can click on the frame to make it active in the big window and drag it down onto the thumbnail of your layout in the photo bin.

I usually do my text last when I do layouts and just make sure it's on the top layer.

Thanks Penny,

That is reassuring. I was getting frustrated. I thought I can't evne get my fist page done with the tutorial. How am I ever going to learn this. I wanted to get it done before the aug class for DSU 160 but looks like I will have to wait until sept to take it. Gives me time to practice mroe too. lol

Thank you all for your help.

There will be some frustration learning it, but you will be so glad you took the time to learn it. It's a great program that will give you flexiblity as you learn more about it.

Thanks Penny!

Ok now on to trying to post my first page. I went back to tutorial to find out how to do it. Can't find it. Can you help me?
I know I need to make my picture downsized but can't remember down to what size? Can you tell me where to look for the step by step instructions so I dont spend hours looking.

You will find that everyone does things differently. I don't downsize until I put the picture on my Layout. I never know what I am going to do until it just happens; I'm not much of a planner.

Most of the time I use a mask that I make to the size I want the picture then use Control G to "clip" the picture to the mask. The picture layer will be the 1st layer in the layer palette and the mask layer will be right under it in the layer palette. Then use Control G which will clip the picture to the mask. By using the mask, if I want to change anything about the picture I can do it later because I didn't actually "cut" off any of the picture pixels.

I am keeping this in mind as I am trudging through the learning curve.
I downloaded the 30 day trial just to make sure this is the one that I wanted. I keep hearing about the flexability etc...I just want to get to the first completed LO!
