I didn't see any answers anywhere to my questions so I thought I would post it.
Can ACDSee be put on an EHD and run from there? Or if it's on a computer's C: Drive can it be backed up (if the program is on the EHD) to that. Hope I'm wording this right.

Norma-
I'm not really understanding your 2nd question, but there is an awesome site and they know EVERYTHING about ACDSee and using it with digital scrapping. The website is: www.digiscrapinfo.com. You should check it out. I highly recommend it for anything ACDSee. Also, here is a link to a post I did on there awhile back that may answer your questions: http://www.digiscrapinfo.com/joomla/forum/index.php?f=10&t=1425&rb_v=viewtopic

Hey thanks! This does answer my questions. All that's needed is to follow the directions and then ACDSee can be on my desktop and EHD. Then all I have to do is direct ACDSee to use the copy on my EHD right? Sounds simple enough. Did you do it and did it work well for you?

Actually no I have not tried it....yet. The main reason for doing that as I indicated over on digiscrapinfo was so that I can bring just my EHD to work and still have access to ACDSee. I need to download ACDSee to my computer at work but gave a friend my CD binder/carrier to look at a couple of other programs and needless to say my ACDSee along with all my other CD's are in there. So....I have to wait until I get them back from her. When you do it, let me know how it goes.

Hi, I'm on the team at DSI and wanted to chime it...Thanks Amy for pointing Norma to us! What you want to do is install the program on your C: drive but set it up to put the database...the actual organizing info...on your EHD with your kits. That way it is portable and your tagging goes with your kits. But the actual program itself runs from the internal drive so you need to install it on both computers. ACDSee's license allows for you to install it on two computers so there's no additional expense there.
I actually use my EHD strictly for backup because it's older and not as reliable as I'd like. As soon as I can afford some newer (bigger!) EHD's I'll do this dual computer setup (http://www.digiscrapinfo.com/joomla/acdsee-photo-manager/common-questions/52-updating-or-transferring/191-2-computer-how-do-i-use-acdsee-photo-manager-on-2-computers-with-the-same-digital-kits-on-a-ehd)...it will save me a lot of time synching between laptop and desktop. HTH!

Thanks for posting that link Kristi-
I think I would prefer the convenience of having all my kits on my EHD- looks like it can be done and I can use it on both my desktop and laptop. I changed the name of a couple of folders and had to retag 11k items (not fun and remapping was a one at a time venture so I just started over) I am less likely to change names/stuff on an EHD so thanks for the info. Seems I could load/backup my kits and database to multiple EHD's and just tell acdsee where to find the database.... this is all much easier to do with written instructions, so thank you.

Thanks for jumping in kaylaugh. I love y'all over at DSI and refer anyone to you that I see on other boards with ACDSee questions. Y'all have been so much help and I think without y'all I would've probably given up on ACDSee. :D Now when I have an issue I don't fret about it because I know where to go for awesome help.
