sorry to have seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth the past 2 weeks...in anticipation of my vacations this year I've put in some extra hours dong temp work..my new camera should be in sometime next week. (WOO HOO). And I've been working like a dog getting my equipment list organized, price searched, and ready to order ( bit by bit) so I have everything ready for not only ALASKA but for the photo workshop in October. I'm gonna have lots of new 'stuff" to figure out how to use before either event so I don't look like a fumbling fool..have been looking every night for airfares and really just need to set a date for ALASKA ! (Can yu tell where my excitement lies?) SUMMER AND FALL JUST CAN'T COME FAST ENOUGH.
Your trip to Alaska is this summer Carolyn?

A friend of mine from high school and her son came to town with some of their friends last night, just to get away for the night and to celebrate her son's birthday, so me and DH met them at a place here called Main Event (they has bowling, glow in the dark mini golf, laser tag, etc). We had a great time. I'm sure I'll be using some of the pics in LO's soon. Some of my photos turned out OK, but some are too dark. I'm not very good at taking photos in dark places, inside or out. I need to learn more about that before our cruise this summer so I don't miss any good shots when it's dark.

I mostly use mine for music. I listen to it at work - it helps take my mind off of stuffing paper in printers all day. :p
DH downloads his fav tv shows to it and watches it on the plane on business trips.
Other than that, just email. I haven't checked out any other apps yet.

Seems I missed everybody today! I got to go shopping - kidless! The last time that's gonna happen unless I go on Thursday mornings! But today was a good day to go alone. I was bra shopping. Did really good too! I ended up with 4 new ones for less than $50 and they weren't wimpy ones either. It was at an outlet store, that knocked nearly $10 per off the price, then one was on clearance ($7.50) and the others were buy 2, get one free! Not bad! I had so much money left over, I got my hair cut. Been needing it bad, but refused to spend the money. Now I should be good until after the move. Will help with the quick showers I'm gonna have to take too.
Well, it's about bed time! Maybe I'll run into one or two of you tomorrow!

good job on your bargain shopping! So was it just a trim? or did you do something new?
idtwinmom

Well, kind of a trim, but since the bangs were down below my nose they cut quite a bit from there! Just a bit of reshaping around my face so it lays better than the last cut with out the fuss.

Happy Easter! Hope you all have a great day.
Last night my hubby was baptised at our church's Easter Vigil. :) I have never been to an Easter Vigil. It was pretty cool. We all went outside to bless the new fire. My son got to light the candle from the new fire.He had to wade into the baptismal font and the priest dunked his head in and poured the water over him. After the service there was a nice recpetion afterwards. It was pretty late by the time we got home.

no extra cash unfortunately, since he won't be eligible for 401k for a bit, he put practically all of his last two checks into that. LOL what a bummer, but we will be glad when tax time comes around.

so did they make it home? :D
They made it home about 7, none the worse for wear. (Well, maybe except for Grandpa!) We finally talked them into bed at 10:15. The three year old decided he wanted to sleep at the farm (home) and mentioned that about 28 times, but since it wasn't an option, he was "forced" to stay. Not too bad. He did NOT cry to go home and was quite pleased with himself the next morning.
The five year old never mentioned a thing about home. The next morning at breakfast, I told him he should come back this summer and stay for 3 days and he said, "I'm coming for 5100 days!!!" (Grandma's edit:   )
We had a French toast and bacon breakfast, the boys got dressed and they and Grandpa went uptown and got haircuts. As soon as they got home and Grandpa got his shower, we packed the car and off we went to Aunt & Uncle's house.
The Sat. night Easter service was awesome and the Christening followed. Everyone from both sides of Alex's family was present so lots of picture taking went on.
Actually, there were three Nikons going all the time and before we all left today, Uncle A. burned DVDs of everyone's pictures for everyone, so we came home loaded!
The Easter egg hunt was a hoot and very much fun (even though it had to take place indoors, due to the earlyness and the cool, windy, dewy outside!!! Everyone appreciated what they got; no one fought over what someone else had and lots of candy was gobbled. The 3 out of town boys were especially pleased that the Easter Bunny knew where to find them! :D
The only problem I'm aware of is that Grandma is too tired to even think of looking at the photos today! :(
I really need to step away from this computer, do some exercise and build my stamina!!!!

I really, really hate bra shopping so congrats on your find! I shopped with my DD yesterday for a prom dress! She is pretty tall, so she tried on a lot of dresses that were just too short. Finally we found a beautiful purple dress with a sparkly overlay. Look for a layout in a few weeks. Then I happened to find my favorite style of Levis in my size... and on sale! That doesn't happen often, so I grabbed up two pair. Unlike you though Lisa... I had no money left over

Lisa & Stitch - congrats on your shopping finds. Bras and jeans are not high on my list of things I love shopping for. I think the only thing possibly worse than those 2 things are swimsuits! Do they TRY to find the most unflattering mirror made and then stick it in the dressing rooms?

Nope, I am dragging today. The doc started me on some blood pressure med Friday, and it is turning me into a zombie all day! DH keeps asking me all day "are you awake". Nope. I guess my body will get used to it, but I'm having a hard time at work today. At least DH figured out how I can get on our work network while I'm here, so I brought my laptop today. So I've been trying to keep up in the forums in between stuffing printers with paper. I've got 2 challenges I need to work on tonight when I get home, unless I veg out in front of the tv and can't get motivated.

Rene, I'm sure not the *expert* here (we leave that to Chris! :D), but if this doesn't change soon, please call your Dr.
DH and I are both on BP meds, one of us a beta blocker and the other a ummmmmmmmmmm....  Can't remember! :annoyed: But, I do know, neither of us started out being lethargic!
   Take care of yourself, Sweetie!
ReneT
04-13-2009, 05:18 PM
The doc told me if I felt tired for more than a couple weeks to call him back and he would change the med, or lower the dosage. I don't understand why I have high blood pressure. My DH is older than me, eats whatever he wants, etc, and doesn't have any problems. I eat right (most of the time), am not overweight, etc and I have bp problems. Weird. I think I'll blame it on my birth mother. That works for me. :D

LOL, Rene! It does seem to be genetic to a degree. In my family, it is low blood pressure. Glad to see you and the Doc talked about it though. I was thinking the same thing as Crys (and I'm not on blood pressure meds). Hope you feel better real soon.

Oh, Chris, that is just too funny! You thought it was Monday, and I keep thinking it's Wednesday! I'm glad it wasn't Wednesday, but could use another Monday this week.
DH leaves Thursday morning and I'm not ready for him to leave. There is just soooooo much to be done. Of course, he's done pretty good on cleaning out the garage, now he just needs to finish cleaning the front room (that he filled with all the stuff from the garage). We've made 5 trips to Goodwill in the past 2 days and there is still stuff that we are going to try and sell. Or should I say, that I am going to try and sell.
I think we just found him a place to live and at our budget. The boarder they had is moving out and they weren't going to rent out the room again until after summer because of company coming, but since we don't want it for that long, it works for us both. We were having a terrible time finding anyone that would rent for 2 months or less. And they may have a car for him to buy too! So the 2 biggies for his arrival may be solved with one couple. Yeah!
If the sale here goes even half that well.........

Well, Crys, I kind of think all you guys praying for us is really helping. Things just keep falling into place in a way that nothing else explains. Even the loss of the job in the first place is turning into a blessing. (Not without trials, but certainly much easier than we really deserve!) I say prayers of thanks every day, and often 3 or more times a day as little things happen. I just find myself stopping and thanking the Lord for all the blessings we continue to receive. So, thank you all for adding your voices!

He's a physical therapist so is in a good position to know how to work with my surgically enhanced bits.. ( no, not implants....ankle, wrist surgeries and arthitis in the back)...
Anyway, we go to the gym..and practice good form for squats. ( large muscle conditioning burns more calories).. ok form is good. then he puts a weighted bar across my back to add resistance... got down about half way and got stuck ! Yup, the bugger put a 45 pound bar on my back !!!! NEED HE REMEMBER THAT I AM OLD, SHORT AND WEAK !!!! Regardless, he did a few more interesting things to me... and later that night I heard him and his brother talking about my "session"......................
BUDDY: How'd the work out go with Ma?
TIM: Good...
BUDDY; Did she try it?
TIM: Yeah, but she got stuck a few times.... you owe me $5.00.
Seems they'd made a bet as to whether or not i would balk at some of the weights he would ask me to use !!! Buddy said I wouldn't try and Tim said I would..

Carolyn, that is too funny! When is your next power work out?
My DH and DS made me go on a bike ride with them in the neighborhood last night. My legs were noodles when we got back. I thought they would be hurting today, but they aren't. I am sooo out of shape. The excerise I get is usually Wii Tennis.... somethings just not right about that. I know I need to do better, but I can't make myself exercise in the morning and then the day just slips away.
Lisa, I am so happy that things are falling into place for you. The power of prayer is mighty. And prayers will surely get you through the next couple of months. I'll bet it will fly by.

Is this the Ipod touch you guys are talking about? I was on the treadmill earlier today, but need to get on again. Ethan doesn't like me on there too long.
It's snowing right now, YUCK, and suppose to be 70 by next week. I wish it were 70 today.
Chris, did you get your stuff? Let me know if you need help, or for me to kick them on the phone.:rofl:
well all of the rain has got water in my cave :cry::cry::cry: What the heck do I do now? Good news is all of the puters etc are up off the floor and it is not like several inches but the carpet is definitely WET! I can't stand it! I was just getting my cave all back together, it was looking pretty. The house painting is practically finished, I so don't want to start another project.
Heather, haven't gotten the CD yet, supposed to be here at 1:00ish. and no contact #, info etc either. I so hope the reinstall fixes my problem. I found out yesterday my dodge and burn and my spot healer are both having issues too. Grrrrrrrrr. Seems like there is definitely a glitch w/ the brushes portion.

Well, I don't walk too fast  so I can hold the iTouch and play on it while i'm walking. My son has lots of silly, mindless 12 year old games. I was playing jawbreaker, which is the same as Bejeweled. It's addictive. I like sudoku too.

OH NO! that's terrible :worried: Is this a problem you've had before? I hope it's not too big of a problem.
It happened last week but I thought it was from cleaning the walls and that we must have spilled a bit of water, but now realize it must be from the rain. I looked and one of my downspouts was not pouring the water into the tube that we have buried to move the water out into the middle of the lawn, so I put an attachment on and filled in some dirt up by the house where obviously water was puddling. Really hope this fixes the problem. I used my carpet cleaner to suck up a bunch of the water. I probably pulled at least 1/2 of a gallon out of it. I am so grateful my puter is not right on the floor.

I love sudoku, just start w/ the easy versions. The easiest way to start is to look and see oh there is a 1 in the 1st and 2nd row already, so the box w/o a 1 must have it in the 3rd row. kwim? sometimes you are lucky and there is only 1 box available in that row, so then you know it belongs there. you can also check the other directions rows and see if you can rule any more out.clear as mud right?!

Guess what happened here tonight? All of a sudden it got cloudy and windy outside and started raining and hailing. The hail started out at pea size, then marble size. It was hailing ALOT! Before long it turned into golf ball size! The dogs were getting nervous and I could hear police car sirens. Then DH called me and told me there was tonado activity in my area and for me to get the laptop and go get in our tornado closet. For him to tell me that, I thought it must be serious so I did. The hail was bouncing off the ground and hitting the house windows, it was crazy. So me, the lappie, the scrapbooks, the cellphone, and the dogs were hanging out for a bit in the storm closet. I started playing a game on the lappie where I was the owner/operator of a cake shop and had to bake and decorate cakes for customers (but that's a whole other story). Then DH knocked on the storm closet door! He had left work when he heard a tornado was in the area of our house, and driven home in the horrid storm to make sure I was OK! Not real smart probably, but romantic and sweet nonetheless. Then I get a text from DS saying "Don't go anywhere, there's a tornado in your area. I'm almost there." So he came to check on me too! Again, not smart, but sweet. Anyway they were all just funnel clouds, but I'm sure the hail did plenty of damage here tonight. Here's a photo of the storm. There's a rainbow in the background just above the fence. Don't know if you can see it or not.

I don't know why we don't line up on yahoo much lately. Probably in part cuz I am hating yahoo, never seems to work properly. They are small things here and there, but I have had it, especially when now I can't install cs4 properly, that was the final straw. Don't know if you can see it or not.

yay glad he arrived safely, sounds like you are getting lots done!:tup::tup:
I may have to replace the carpet in the cave cuz it is smelling all moldy. Grrrrrr, but I think the water situation is fixed. I can't be sure until it rains again big time, but hopefully. I have put some Lysol down and I will try to use the carpet cleaner tomorrow w/ some bleach. We have a type of Berber that is supposed to be ok with bleach in the water, so we will see.:cry::cry::cry: and I just got my cave looking all pretty. :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:
If your wet carpet is sad for me I can only imagine how bummed you must be. I hope you can get it dried out. I know what kind of carpet you are talking about... that stuff is almost indestructible. I think it is made from recycled plastic bottles. (DH used to work in the carpet biz.)
Boy, you guys were chatty last night!

Hey guys, I posted the family photos from our photo shoot in my gallery. I wish you could see the actual photos themselves. These scanned images do not do them justice. The actual photos are so much more vibrant and sharp. But at least this kinda lets you see my family. The ones of me & DH were taken outside at my house against the brick wall of our bedroom. The wind was blowing about 50 mph and my hair and dead grass were blowing everywhere, but the photographer just waited until the exact moments that the wind put my hair down and snapped several photos, then he took out all the blowing grass later when he was enhancing the photos. Here's the link to my gallery:

OK here is the report, queue the town criers. Does anybody feel sorry for me yet? Seriously how can all of this happen to one person in such a short period of time?I am trying really hard to stay positive, but starting to feel like I must be under a big fat rain cloud! LOL
As you all probably know, we have been painting our house FOREVER!!! Seriously since the beginning of January. All that is left is a bit of trim, hang some doors and touch up a few spots. Do you think, I can get Rob (dh's cousin) to come back over and finish? NOOOOO! good news: it looks great where it is finished.
I just got CS4, but have had lots of problems with the brushes not working properly. Install, reinstall, fuss, fuss, fuss. Now I have found out that we think it is because I have Windows XP Media Center, so tomorrow we are wiping out the whole thing and starting over by installing plain XP. I swear if this doesn't fix this problem and several other little issues I have been having, I am so going to scream! good news: I have a friend who is a puter guru, who is helping me and it shouldn't cost me anything.
I finally got my new iTouch, which was supposed to be for my birthday, but they were having a hard time getting them in stock at my store, so I got it last week. Well there has been something wrong w/ the accelerometer, on w/ tech support for a while this am and they finally said it was defective. Good news: it was so new, I got the store to give me a new one.
My new case that goes on the above mentioned iTouch doesn't fit quite right so it makes the home button not work at all. Works fine when it is off. Doesn't work at all, if it is on. Good news: they are sending me a new one no charge.
The carpet of my office was soaking wet the other morning after a big huge rain storm. I used the carpet cleaner and sucked up about 1 gallon of water from the carpet. Good news, no electronics were actually on the floor so they all still work and I think I have the source of the water fixed, we will see after the next big rain storm.
Then yesterday I start noticing that my office smells very moldy from the water, so now we are wondering if we need to replace the carpet in here. Good news: the carpet is a berber that you can actually add bleach to, so I used the carpet cleaner with bleach water and am now hoping that it will kill the mold and we won't have any more problems with this.
DH just recently had his store close, so he switched jobs. He worked 2 weeks overlapping, so I was basically a single mom as he was working 80 hours a week, now he is down to only 40 hours sorta, since he is the manager and nobody has been managing his people for a while so there are all these problems that he is trying to solve at the same time he is training to know how to use the new computer system etc, get organized, get a clue, etc etc. LOL Good news: The new job will hopefully be better once he gets acclimated.
Sheeesh! Can you believe all of this?!!! I know you have all heard parts of this, but it is just amazing to see it all written down in one spot, so I just had to share. I will try to keep my rose colored glasses on. :D

Now that Chris has BooHoo'd and Wahoo'd, I'm going to take a turn. Since I already Wahoo'd, guess it's time for my BooHoo!!
As most of you know, newest grandson, Alex was Christened last weekend at the end of the Sat. night Easter service.
My older son (Alex's dad) and I both have Nikon D70s's. My younger son's wife has a D90.
One little baby's Christening, 3 honking Nikons. :D :D
Both Alex's aunts and their whole families, plus Grandma; Alex's uncle and his whole family, GrandmaCrys and GrandpaSonny, GrandpaMark and GreatGrandma were there. The whole family, so to speak!! We even had an extra GreatUncle there from CA., which was so convenient for the *group* photos.
Because of time restrictions, I just have not learned my camera as I should and therefore shoot mostly on *Auto*. (No screaming, please!)
The other two cameras were set somewhere...not auto.
Pictures here and there and everywhere, plus left and right.
Before leaving for the day after our Easter celebrations, Daddy copied everyone's photos and made DVD's for us all to take with. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
When I finally got a chance to view the photos, I was BROKENHEARTED!!!!!!!! :yikes: :yikes:
In all the group shots, up at the pulpit (where the Christening) actually took place) my camera did a fine job and their photos are so dark you can barely see them!
And the REALLY sad part is that in all the photos of "big" groups, my camera was NOT being used, because GreatUncle could only manipulate one camera!
I've tried lightening them in Bridge and Photoshop, but when I lighten them enough, there's so much noise, the pics are horrible!!!!
And that baby is only going to be Christened one time in his life!!!
HELP.....HELP.....HELP.....HELP.....HELP.....

I forgot to tell you one other thing. Today Joshie was laying on my lap talking to me and I happened to look in his mouth and in one of this molars that had a filling, the filling was GONE and there was this HUGE hole in his tooth! Good news: he had a pulpotomy (like a root canal but they do it in children) when they did the filling to begin w/ so it isn't hurting him at all, but not sure if the new insurance will be all set up by Tuesday when they can get him in to fix it, so even though we should be covered, I am sure it will be a hassle, but I don't want to put it off any longer than necessary.

Let's see if I can remember what I read:
Chris - it certainly does sound like you have had enough fun for the last 2 weeks. I think you deserve a break, and a bowl of Peppermint Ice Cream.
Stitch - hope your weekend is an absolute blast.
Crys - glad you got some walking in, the best I did today was back and forth trying to clean the floors (and all I really got was dust mopped and vacuuming done). It rained so no yard work today, but I hit it in the morning, hard! So sorry about the photo's, I know how bad that can be. (real sweet ask Carolyn D - she Lightroomed a photo for me that was totally unusable, maybe she would be willing to help you out too!)
Well, I've just been on the phone with DH and now it's time to get ready for bed! Didn't accomplish anything tonight either I guess!

Chris, bless your heart. Reading it all together like that is just overwhelming! At least all the bad stuff has had a mostly good outcome, but with that much going wrong in such a short period, I would have needed some cake with the ice cream! :D I hope the dentist appt goes well for Joshie next week and the insurance is not too much of a problem.
I watched the Susan Boyle video. WOW! Not what I expected. That was incredible.
Cris, I am so sorry about the Christening photos. I know you are just sick about it! Maybe someone will be able to help figure it out. Crossing my fingers and saying a little prayer.:pray:

I must admit, tho, that I am VERYsensitive to this ... when I was younger, I was always taunted about wearing glasses ( 4 eyes) and being skinny and a late developer ( flip top flat top) and even my appearance in general ( you're not the prettiest gal in the world but you're a nice person). so, I tend to react very strongly at a gut level.

Apparently we were twins! :D Guess I got off lucky, though; don't remember ever being made fun of! Not that I wasn't - I just don't remember most of anything!   I remember everything ! How sad is THAT? 7th and 8th grades were the worst years of my life. Luckily, I had a couple of good friends who bolstered my worth (in my eyes) and I'm stubborn enough/thick headed enough to make me more determined NOT to be what others said I was.
I could have been made of horribly, as far as I know, and that could be why I'm such an introvert in my older age!
And, I've changed, too...I started wearing contacts at the age of 18 (when I could afford them myself) and 2 kids and the 30's took the skinny part away! :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

Well, I got the contacts too...3 kids didn't take care of the skinny tho... I weigh today what I weighed in High School. . It's just distributed differently.:rofl: A bit more of a 'southern" direction , if you will.

I thnk what bothered me more was the attitude of the judges and the audience.. so ready to make fun and belittle based on appearance rather than just according someone the respect due any person- especially one brave enough to put themselves in front of a global audience.
Wow! And as gorgeous as you now, I would never have guessed! But it does explain all your comments and not liking to be photographed. (typical photographer, prefers to be behind the camera!)

Well, we have had a really gorgeous day here! I should be doing anything but sitting here (so I plan to keep this short). Got quite a bit of the weeding done and I'm really hoping to finish tomorrow! Monday is supposed to get quite warm, so I really want to be finishing the inside by then. That and the sooner we get the sign up the better. But one thing at a time!
I would also like to report that I have lost 2 pounds this week. Guess all this work is doing some good. Now I just need to keep the process going and I can lose over 15 pounds before DH gets back.

Currently a big, resounding BOO HOO for me today ( as I sit here munching a piece of pizza while nursing a very small hangover) Seems I went out last night to hear the rock band my girlfriends DH plays in .... arrrrrrrghhhhhh Long Island Iced Tea went down so good, I had another.. next thing I knew I was dancing and drinking my other friend's beer ! Oh GAWD. Lest you all think I'm non functional... I've cooked dinner, done 5 loads of laundry, did a layout, did some photo editing, cleaned the kitchen, paid bills....showered and puttered around my room dusting and consumed a pot of coffee. Will attempt vigorous activity later.. On the good note.. I am not sore from my dance floor contortions. We did have a good time tho.... and had 3 genrations of one family on the dance floor...my girlfriend, her mother and her daughter... Ages 27 , 49, and 70 ! ROCK ON !!!

a big Boo Hoo for me today! I didn't exercise. I'm so tired today. Don't know why unless it's still the med, but I thought I was starting to get used to it. A couple of times I got up and felt dizzy again, so I took my BP and it was 129/72, so that's not too low. Who knows? But on the brighter side, I have done very well with my diet this week. So maybe that counts for something? ;)

BooHoo, Chris - puter problems are the pits!!!!!
Carolyn - we do seem to be missing each other a lot lately! Things will get better once I get this house on the market. I'm really stressing over it right now.
Rene - Chris is the expert, but it may still be the meds making you tired and dizzy. Just getting used to the change can make your body feel different.
Well, all this work and I pulled a muscle in my back this morning. It's not too bad and the weeding actually helped it get a little better, but I'm off to veg and lean on an ice pack!

Plus I have been having other slight annoyances that I have just been living with, so this weekend we reformatted the whole hard drive. Hi everyone! I had a very productive day today. I did 3 layouts, cleaned the hot tub so I can refill it, cleaned out my closet and got 4 boxes of clothes to give to Goodwill, and did 2 loads of laundry. Starting tomorrow, the next 2 weeks are gonna be really bad at work so I tried to get as many layouts that I knew were due by the end of the month done. That just leaves one that I know of right now to do. Yay.

grocery shopping can usually wait.. I bet there is enough lurking around that you can squeeze out at least a couple of meals with a bit of creativity... but laundry? I don't think so... realizing you need to hamper dip and wear your undies inside out is NOT the way to start your day.:eek::eek:

Wow Chris and Michelle, you guys have been chatty this morning. I'm at work, stuffing 13 printers full of paper over and over and over and over and over again. I'm not at all amused. But at least I can occasionally get on here and check out the forums.
I've never played beer pong either. I just see my son's pics on Facebook that he posts. I'm also not amused by that. DH and I have a ping pong table at our house and he asked one time if he could borrow it for beer pong. The look on my face must have answered his question because he was like, "OK never mind. Just thought I'd ask." Seriously, did he think I would say, "Sure Drew, feel free to use my table for underage drinking. No problem." :)
Wow, 80 minutes Chris, good for you. Wish I could ssay the same for myself.

well after struggling to get the strap on (of all things!) i'm up and running. Seems it's just a matter, right now anyway, of finding where they've put the buttons to do the stuff I previously did in the menu! So far, so good... the files are ginormous!
I like the focus select and metering select buttons, now on the camera body itself rather than solely in the menu options. Life is a bit easier now. There is a second scroll button to learn. (labled the sub-command dial). But basics are basics.. it's just location !
I may like this thing after all ! Now that the panic attacks are over !

I have a question, since ya'll are talking about cameras. What resolution should I normally take photos in for use in layouts? I've always taken them in the highest resolution possible, but I don't want to run out of memory on my card when we are on our cruise. My card is 4g.
I always shoot on the highest resolution possible and I have two 1g cards. how long is the cruise?

No problem." :)
oh dear... i shouldn't laugh, but I can almost picture the look on a teenage boys face saying, Just thought I'd ask.
sorry about the printers... sounds boring. I keep coming on here today because I just can't consentrate on work :annoyed:

LOL that would be my answer, too-- shoot at highest possible resolution (more options for cropping later!) and buy a couple extra cards!
Carolyn, you'll learn fastest by playing-- go explore lol
And Chris-- whooo hooo! 80 minutes. . . I need a nap just reading about it hehe

well after struggling to get the strap on (of all things!) i'm up and running.
I'm glad you are liking it! Cant wait to see some photos. What camera model is it? and ummm... how many pages of the manual did you read?

Yes, it's very boring. The only thing that makes it better is my lappie and IPOD, plus the fact that I really only work about 4 months out of the year when we are super busy, except for a couple hours every evening for the business bookkeeping. So I really can't complain, although that doesn't stop me. :D I did get some super new tennis shoes with custome fitted insoles since I stand on concrete all day, so that has really helped this season. Usually by this time, I have blisters on the bottom of my feet, but not this year!

If I'm shooting in JPG format, I shoot JPG FINE. But it is a fairly large file. On a 2 GB card with my D50, I could fit over 500 shots per card. In RAW, I could get about 300.
With this new camera, RAW gives me 98 shots on a 2GB card. JPG NORMAL gives me 350 or so... BIG DIFFERENCE.
What you shoot in is really your personal preference determined by what you want to do with them... to print I would definitely go with the best resoloution possible. To scrap, you could easily get away with a lesser file size as it's doubtful you'd be placing the image on the layout at a full 5x7, 4x6... know what I mean???

I see what you're saying. So surely with a 4gb card I will have plenty of space. Plus when we're out doing stuff like the parasailing one DD wants to do, I'm going to take disposable waterproof so I won't ruin my camera, so that should help too. Thanks.

RAW is a photo format. Essetially, whatever your camera "sees" is transfered to the media card without compression or any in camera edits.
JPG is also a photo format. However, with JPG format, the camera is programed to do some processing by compressing the image and eliminating some pixel information.
RAW does not do that... so the files themselves are quite large.
A RAW file is really only viewable in a graphics software like Photoshop or Lightroom. If you download the photo files to your PICTURES file, you will see an icon labeled NEF but not the image itself.. ( at least on my computer this is true. ) But, I can view them in PS or LR.
The advantage to shooting in RAW is in post processing, especially with LR. Gives you more options for white balance corrections. The same holds true if you process in Photoshop in Bridge. In either application, once you have made your adjustments, you can make them permanent AND change the format to JPG or TIFF or leave them as editable adjustments. ( I think that should be about as clear a mud)LOL

Well, I think I'm caught up! I have been so tired and trying to get so much done I haven't even turned the computer on in two days. I got the yard weeded (still need to finish the back, but it will have to wait until after the upcoming rains). Got the main rooms cleaned and the realtor too all her pics! House will be officially on the market tomorrow. Also - must clean the bathrooms (haven't touched them in days) and my bedroom was a dumping ground for all the stuff I didn't have time to actually go through before the realtor showed up. But the pace can actually slow a little.
Chris - I'm impressed, both your post count and the amount of time on the elliptical!
Carolyn - can't wait to see some of the new pics!
Well, I have a couple more tasks and its off to bed. In the middle of all this I decided to catch a nasty cold. Can anyone tell me why that happens when it's 80 degrees outside?

to be honest, I never travel with less than 3 cards ! I live in fear the card will become corrupt and I'll loose everything and I never fill a card ! I quit when I have about 50 shots left and change cards.( why put all your eggs in one basket?)
I also pack my laptop and transfer to cd daily... a small price to pay to keep the images intact.

:love3::love3::love3:That's too funny ! Yes. I've learned the hard way ! I shoot in RAW and it's just too much of a pain in the butt to process and then post to a site...on vacation i don't want to spend any time in post processing, so I just save for when I get home. it's easier for me to just burn a cd. I burn to cd anyway so there is always a hard copy original. I just label and stuff them in either my carryon, laptop case or with the laptop in my backpack. (depends on how I'm traveling)
