(Just giving you some vocabulary so you are familiar with any terms the DDS/hygienist uses. )
Thanks I appreciate it!
OMG! That sounds terrifying! Was she early?
Only by 2 weeks so not considered early :). It was touch an go for both of us for a while, which I didn't know about since they put me under GA ;).
We are good today.
Excellent news Heather, and I see there's a chance you may be discharged even! So glad you popped home to see the kids
Catch up later again!

BTW - I've been using my pen in PS and it now seems to have found all of it's missing functions (or the operator finally has them all turned on the way they are supposed to be)! Even the right-click on the pen is now working!!!!!
:yippee::yippee::yippee: Glad to hear it!!
HOT DANG GIRL.. YES ! THAT COUNTS AS BEING "PUBLISHED." LADIES.. we haave a fullfledged photojournalist in out midst !!! I want your autograph ! That is just WAY TOO COOLLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!
:D Carolyn, you make me smile. Photojournalist is a stretch, but hey, I'll just go with it!
small-schmall.... it's still a paper and it's your image and it's published !!! You just stay up there on that pedestal for a while and enjoy the view! That multicolored head you see bowing before you is me. LOL
Ummm... no bowing necessary. YOu can stand up now. Speaking of multicolored heads, I need to post of picture of what my DD did to her hair. She bleached and then colored blue a streak at the base of her neck. It shows when she puts it in a pony tail. Only it didn't quite turn out the blue I was expecting. It's more of a aqua-ish. Silly girl. :p

Oh my... I need to start paying better attention! This morning, I said to my son "it's a good thing your still sick and not going to school, because I forgot to get cash out of the ATM for lunches for ya!" and he said "oh you don't need to get cash, I have enough to last me until Christmas probably". I say to him "You don't use your own money, that is mommy and daddys responsibility. It's not that I don't HAVE the money hon, I just forgot to get some out of the ATM when I was out and about. I'll get some before you go back to school when your better to return". He says "no, it's not mine, it is yours". He goes away and comes back a few mins later and says "close your eyes and hold out your hands"... and I do (eeek!) and he places somethiing in my hands and says "open". I open my eyes to find a TON of cash laying in my hand! He says "see... I have enough to last a longgggggggggg time. It's yours and dads, its all my leftover from previous days lunches". So I count the money...... 96 bucks!!!!!! Oh my goodness.
So he's right, I won't be taking out cash for his lunches anytime soon! LOL!!!!

LOL Oh my! Has he been saving for years? LOL My parents can sympathize with you. I guess when I was younger instead of using my lunch money I'd do IOUs...and keep the money in my backpack. They said when they got the $20 notice from the school they went into my bag and it weighed about 50 lbs filled with all the change they had given me for lunch! ROFL

Shana, it's the change from his daily lunch. His lunch cost me 4 bucks a day (can you even believe that! Ok.. it's really 2.75 but he can't drink milk, so he has to pay another 1.25 for a gatorade!). So I give him a 5bill or a 10bill... and he has been collecting the change! I never even stopped to think the next day "do you have the change from yesterday, I gave you a 10, you should have 6 left over... " ... nope, I just kept handing it out! LOL!!!
It won't last til Christmas, obviously at 80.00 a month, but it will get him almost to Thanksgiving break! LOLOL!!!

I'm still laughing. Does your school have student "accounts"? We can send a check in to fund their account or add money to it online, which is pretty convenient. I put $50 in my son's account at the beginning of the year, but he usually packs a lunch (well, I pack it). He sometimes buys pizza on Fridays, which is $4. The lunches are pricey enough, but it's the $1 water and gatorade that kills me.
>>aruaL<<

stitch, yep you can put money into their account... but let me just say that I did that every year until this year because towards the end of last school year I counted how many days were left of school X's the $ for lunch and I wrote a check for that amount.. it was like 60bucks. Well, about a week and a half later, my son comes home and says "Jill (who is also my friend..but is the lunch lady there) says I owe money, my account has 1 lunch left" ... I was so mad, their system is so screwy and his lunch money gets eaten up by others putting in their wrong id#! So this year we decided to give him cash every morning for that days lunch.
So he's been saving it up since the first day of school, mid August. There were some days he didn't eat at all because he has severe stomach issues and often can't eat (we are working on fixing that), so he'd save his money, come home and eat. I never did ask for my money back, obviously. Darn me, Im going to be more careful! At least he was honest and told me about it. I wouldn't have known otherwise... lol

YEP we are HOME!!!!!!! We didn't get to my in-laws until after 8 and the kids didn't know we were coming. We walked in and they all ran to Ethan and wouldn't let him go. He hadn't walked around in 7 days so I had to tell them he wanted to walk and it took him awhile to be able to walk without falling down. We had to catch up on a lot of stuff last night so I drove the kids to school so they could sleep in a little longer. My 5 year old said, "do I ride the bus home?" yes "will you be here?" yes "you will be at the house when I get home?" yes. It makes me cry to think how they all felt while I was gone. Anyway, I may not be back to check in for a day or 2. It just depends on how long it takes me to catch up on life, and there's a lot of catching up! Thanks so much for all you guys have done. It's been so nice to be able to cry and talk to you! Love ya all lots!!

Thanks Stitch... he's showing some improvements that is for sure. And I just got a call a few ago from his doctor that all of his testing for cancer is clear, so that is excellent news!! He has a stomach full of acid :-( They can't figure out why his body harbors so much of it. His medicine is helping him daily, although not perfectly and one missed dose sends him into a tailspin. He use to be incredibly healthy, all of this came out of the blue about 6 months ago.

Made an appointment at the dentist in Muscat for DD on Saturday. Going to be a really busy day in Muscat. Going to take my camera in, as it gave me an error message again today, but at least not as often as it did before. Want to get it checked out anyway, since it shouldn't be doing it at all.
Then going to the French Embassy to collect my passports and hopefully see that the visa's are approved, and then off to the British Embassy to apply for visa's for that one. Oh, and we also have to get our Alcohol Licence renewed as well!

I've had my camera for 6 months now, and on a few occasions when I've tried to take a photo of the sun set, I just could NOT get them to come out the right colour, and cos I was in a rush (cos the sun sets very quickly here), I didn't have time to figure out what was going on. Well today I finally figured it out , My ISO was on Auto ;).

Got a funny for ya'!
Earlier I read thru posts thinking that it had been awful quiet around here only to come back and realized that some how I missed an entire page!
Laura - I do hope they get DSs stomach problems solved! It took them 18 years and a very smart resident at the hospital I was working in to discover I had an allergy to Vit C and that it was causing all kinds of stomach problems for me.
Shana - I'm thinking lunch was about 75 cents! Of course, I carried lunch for 90 percent of my school years so don't really remember!
Sands - let us know what the dentist says! And why do you need an Alcohol license?
Heather - I have informed the Alaskans that Ethan is home! Hope you are having all sorts of fun cuddling him today! (I don't think I could have set him down much!)

I'm quite excited, and don't laugh at me.
Here's my sunset shot from today :

Sands - let us know what the dentist says! And why do you need an Alcohol license?
Well we live in a Muslim Country which by rights should have no alcohol at all. But the Sultan has allowed alcohol for purchase to expats. The alcohol shops are unmarked with no windows, so you wouldn't be able to say what they were unless someone took you there.
You can only buy alcohol if you are in possession of a license. The license comes in a form of a book which looks like a passport. Its valid for 2 years and has one page per month for the two years. Your license has a monetary value. The value is 10% of your monthly income per month. Each time you go to the shop and buy something, the value is recorded in the book. If you reach your limit for the month, there is no way to purchase anymore :).
The license is only issued to expats whose religion is not Muslim.
Ours has finished and we need to renew it for the next two years.

Oh wow, that is so interesting. Are you allowed to bring alcohol into the country if you were away or are you only allowed to get it based on your license? Sorry to ask so many questions, I just love to learn about different parts of the world, etc. :D

You can bring 2Lts at a time in with you if you fly in, but you cannot bring any in if you are crossing the border by road :).
I don't mind the questions at all.

Expats is short for Expatriate. Which really means
2. to withdraw (oneself) from residence in one's native country.
So basically expat means non local residing here :)

Shana I haven't gotten my pie filling recipe back out yet but I can tell u how to do the applesauce. Core and cut out any yucky stuff. Remove the peel too if u want. Chuck the chunks into the blender until full. Add about half a cup of water purée until u have the consistency u want. Dump in a big pot. Add 1/2 cup sugar for every blender of apple purée or every other depending on how sweet u like it. U can do more too just do it to taste. We also like cinnamon so I add that too. Boil for 5 min put in jars. Use a steam canner or a water bath canner and process for 30 min. How high are u? My altitude makes me add 10 min from the recipe of 20 min so u might not have to go that long.

So today my alarm goes off at 3am.. .I get up make breakfast for hubby and send him off to work. Often, I won't go back to bed I'll just clean house or hang out here on DSP or scrap. Well, sometimes (like today) I'll reset my alarm for 5am and go back to sleep for an hour, wake up DD and start our day, get her off to the high school, etc. Well.. today my phone rings.. I'm in bed. I answer it and my friend says "is Kaylin in charge of today's pep rally?". "Yes she is... why?" ...and just as I let out the word "why" in the same breath I screamed "Oh noooo!!!! we are all sleeping... she should have left for school 45 minutes ago!!!" ......... So I run and wake up DD, she gets ready for school.. and well.... she just now left to head to the high school. She's missed her first 2 classes and will make it 20 mins before the pep rally that she's in charge of!
Im a bad bad mom! I get the bad mom award! To my defense though... my alarm is set... so now I just am not sure did it go off and I was so dead I didn't hear it, or did it not go off?? But it *is* set... I checked it! Argh.

Wow, that's very interesting Sands. Our city just recently became "wet". Before a couple months ago, you had to drive outside the city limits to get alcohol. There was a strip liquor stores outside of town that everyone called "the strip" because they said all the neon lights of the stores resemble the strip in Vegas. :D

Ooooh that sounds like something I can't mess up too badly! :D I'm definitely going to give it a try. Thanks so much, Chris. I live on a hill, so I'm not sure if I'd have to add time or not.
Argh.
No bad mom award, just the I slept late award. ;) She made it in time, that's what matters, right?
We had a good yesterday! It was our anniversary, probably the best so far because we were all home together. We put the kids to bed at 8:30 and watched Survivor! How's that for a celebration!! The kids were happy to be home and it's life back to normal, homework, baths, fighting, etc! I did talk to my doctor and we decided it was best to have Ethan get the H1N1 shot. I am going to still have to be really careful though, there are a lot of cases and it will probably peak before he is totally immuned. Since Kyler was with me I had him get one also. The girls will be so happy that they were at school.
Rene, CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::tup::tup::tup: That is totally awesome. I love the LO.

Lisa, tell you DH he is awesome for being so worried for my little guy.
I know I read more stuff but can't remember it all. SORRY!! I do love all you guys!!
Heather so glad you are back home with all the kids and you got to be that way for the anniversary! How'd Ethan do with the vaccination?
*The man of the house* is not exactly a cleanliness freak, ok? And he's got this itchy hand - he constantly scratches it by rubbing it on the couch arm!   When I retire and we move, we're buying a ranch house with a basement, which will have it's own entry. what kind of fabric? mine are that microsuede stuff, LOVE the feel of it!
You're going to love the microfiber! It cleans like a dream. That's what I had in Oregon and everything from soy formula to markers ended up on that thing and a little washing always did the trick. I was shocked the first time we got formula on it. It had dried before I realized it was even there and you know the kind of spots that leaves. Well, we used the shampooer on it and the stains lifted right out.

I didn't do too well with the night mouth guard last night. Took it out after a few hours. I couldn't get comfortable with it. The dentist said it would take a couple of weeks.
Have a great day guys!
I think this post tells you how much there was to catch up on and I got here early today! We have an outing in a bit so I thought I would catch up first. I think you guys had talked 5 pages worth! Enjoy that trip to the chiropractor.

I was saying something about no mountains and one of the locals (I think in like the midwest) said what do you mean no mountains. we have a mountain right over there. Crys, you're stuck with us forever now that you have your flair! Glad to have you back.
Laura... Oh no! on the alarm. Weird that you don't know why it went off. Did it feel good to get a little extra sleep though? I sure hope that doesn't qualify for a bad mom award.
Couches... you are right that they don't make 'em like they used to. We got new leather matching love seats for the family room a year or two ago. When we got them they were fluffy and comfortable. Now all the fluff is not so fluffed anymore and you kind of sink to the middle. They still look good, but we paid way too much for them to not want to sit on them. Any suggestions?? Deep dark brown, btw.
Crys, I hear ya about the sloppy husband. The man cave in our house could use a clean up. At least we got it painted.
Rene, good luck with the mouth guard. I'm wishing you a day of minimal paper cuts :D
Heather, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Also I am thinking something for portraits maybe a zoom but where I can get a lower ap, cuz my zoom is variable so if I zoom in I think 5.6 is the best I can get.

I'm starting to feel some relief, my heads above the water now! :yahoo: I hate feeling behind and SO many things to do.
Shana, sorry I didn't comment earlier about his shot, I forgot:) He did great, didn't even cry. Do you think that's because his toes, feet, wrists and top of his hands have at leat over a hundred pokes between them all so 1 little shot is no biggie. Seriously you guys should see the poor kid. I took lots of pics but haven't got them on the computer yet. When I do I'll put a couple on so you can see my poor kiddo.
It's okay. You're allowed to forget after the week or so you've had. :D Are his spirits up even more today? I'm sure being home has made a huge difference for him and the rest of you. :D

Yes he's back to normal! :D Climbing, running (still falls ), playing, reading. The only thing I haven't heard, a lot of is screaming. He's usually really loud to get attention or whatever and he isn't as loud. I wonder if his throat still hurts and he's holding back. But he is eating a lot better now that we aren't in the hospital. I use photobucket, some use flikr, and Carolyn uses facebook, then you just post the link or in the case of photobucket you can actually just copy the image link with tags and all it it drops it right into the thread. Real easy!
Chris - since Carolyn is unlikely to be on much I think you should PM her the question about the lens. She has a bag full of them, has really checked them out, and knows the best brands and the best online places to buy! I figured out that I am a total dunce when it comes to that right now! (Lots and lots to learn!)

OK everyone, please think good thoughts for me tomorrow. Going to the French Embassy to collect my passports, and hopefully see that the visa has been approved, then going to the British Embassy to apply for a visa from them, so we can visit the kiddo's Great Grandfather. He hasn't seen them for 4 years, so it will be such a nice surprise for him.
Appreciate any good thoughts you have to spare that I've got all the paperwork they want and the visa gets approved without any hassles.

Maybe I should take it off, it makes me cringe inside every time I look at it. It's still so raw I guess.
He is doing so good! The only thing is he doesn't sleep well. I was up with him a lot last night. I don't know if he was in pain or what but he kept waking up and moving and crying and then I got all worried about giving him the H1N1 shot. I get so paranoid about everything, I hate it. I gave him tylenol twice in the night so not sure what the deal was but hoping tonight is better! They said that because he was so heavily sedated that his sleep pattern could be messed up for a bit!?!? Hope you all have a great day, I'm going to work on getting a page done for DET BC!

Heather, sorry Ethan didn't sleep well last night, but glad he's still doing well. I bet it was the after effects of the sedation. I had medication like that for a period of time when I was hospitalized several times for pancreatitis several years ago before I had surgery to correct a birth defect, and for awhile afterwards, it messed with my sleep.

That's why I turned the touch off for a while. It forces you to use the pen exclusively and get used to it. Now that I can make it do everything, I've turned the touch back on because I really prefer that two-finger scroll!

That depends on your computer more than anything. If you have enough USB ports (not recommended to put them into a normal hub, but you can), then you can hook both up. As a matter of fact, I do still have my mouse attached to the left of my keyboard, but I haven't touched it since about the 2nd day. Usually when people tell you to put the mouse away, they are referring to the mouse that comes with the tablet. With the Pen & Touch it's different because the "mouse" is actually the tablet itself (like the trackpad on many laptops).

Oh, OK, I get it now. If I get one for Christmas, I mainly want it for writing my own journaling and extractions. I know it can do lots of other things, but that's the main reasons I want it.
It's so great for that! I wrote on a page I did for the in-laws and it looks good!! Extracting is lots easier too!

Thanks everyone for their good thoughts / prayers.
My French Visa's were approved, and now my passports and paperwork is in with the British Embassy. The woman that saw me was a little concerned that I didn't have a bank stamp on the printout of the 6 months bank statements, but said she thought it would help that I included DH's pay slips, and a letter from his company confirming his position and salary. I wasn't able to go to the bank to get them stamped since for some stupid reason, our banks are closed on Saturday's. Remembering our weeks run from Saturday's to Wednesday's here.
I've done all I can now, and its in their hands. I don't see why they would reject my application since DH is British and we are going to see his parents who are British. But if they are rejected that's fine. It just means we come home 2 days earlier than planned, direct from Paris instead of London. So what will be will be. I'm just very happy our French Visa's are approved.
On the camera side.... I had to leave it behind. The guy installed yet a newer version of the filmware, hoping that would correct it, but it didn't! He said its the first time he's come up against this problem and had to contact "wherever" to find out how to fix it. At worst, if they had to order a part in, I would be without the camera for 2 weeks.
On the dentist side of things.... on inspection DD's adult molars are already out, so he put some protective stuff on them to shield them from any cavaties. The top molars looked like they were due to sprout any day. He took an OPG of DD's mouth and we saw LOADS of adult teeth just ready to start popping through! I'm very relieved about that :D.

I haven't figured out how to make it do that yet! Too bad you don't have it now, Stitch and I have decided to take Kim's class in November together. It would be fun to have you and Heather in the class too! (We could sit at the back of the class and pass notes!)
Ah man, I wanna take it too!!!! Now I'm pouting!!! (Maybe I should just order it for myself and ask for something else for Christmas!) (Or maybe he'll get it for me for my b-day even though I told him not to get me anything since I bought myself that new camera. Hmmmmm........ What to do?)

Boy, don't log on for a day and a half and there are a thousand posts to go over ! This may take some time.
the flight here to Oregon was long and uneventful. The other students here in the class are very nice, fun and an interesting group... several canadians (one is a genearal surgeion) , me (with my funny accent) , 2 guys from the west coast ( one is a Dr= an endocrinologist), an Air Force wife, a farmer/rancher from Montana, and Bryan's son, Justin. One guy never showed up ! Can you imagine just blowing something like this off?
Friday, we were blessed with wonderful weather despite the rather dire predictions. Drove to Silverton park.. Now, I gotta tell ya.. being from the east coast, I am not used to the amazing nature here... waterfalls galore, tress like I've never seen before they are so tall and all dripping with moss. In this particular park, the vegetation is so dense sunlight doesn't get through much, hence the moss. But it's just so incredible.
Bryan knows all the in's and outs of the area as he lived here years ago. Actually, he was saying that when he retires, this area is his first choice for summer home.
Anyway, he brought us initially to the North Falls... and I promptly slipped in the water to mid shin... yup, I was the first to be baptized ! LOL.. So, spent the next few hours slogging around in the water. Was squatting down at one point, setting up a shot only to realize my butt was dragging in there too ! ( Looked like I overused my DEPENDS! LOL)
to make a long story shotrt, we were out shooting from 930- 6 . Coming back to the hotel to clean up and go out to dinner... I stayed here..NO SHOES !! My feet were squishy. Currently , my boots are stuffed with paper towels and are outside my door. I may be stocking feet today !
Our hotel here in Silverton is wonderful. Each room is uniquely decorated ! The corner poles on my bed are huge...maybe do some pole dancing later ! haha.. Jacuzzi bathtub.. and 74.00 per night !
Today, we are working on post processing, photoshop etc all morning until check out.. then off to Portland. If the rain arrives as predicted, we wil be working in studio at a friend of Bryans... then doing urban, rain reflections, panning exercises outdoors in a covered area.. ( under a bridge from what I understand)
Again, I hope my shoes dry out by then !
Anyway, here are some items i posted on Facebook..http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2036382&id=1076590219&ref=mf

Take care of that ankle. I injured my achillies tendon in June, walked around all summer (even to Adobe) in pain and finally went to the dr. mid Sept. Had an MRI and he put me in one of those big black boots to rest the tendon for a month and see if it helps. It's like carrying around an extra 10 lbs.....so awkward.

Aperture set to the hghest number for greatest depth of field (front to back) which will give a slower shutter speed creating the very smooth water.

Take care of that ankle. I injured my achillies tendon in June, walked around all summer (even to Adobe) in pain and finally went to the dr. mid Sept. Had an MRI and he put me in one of those big black boots to rest the tendon for a month and see if it helps. It's like carrying around an extra 10 lbs.....so awkward.Been there, done that! good luck and I hope the "rest" makes it's feel better ! It's such a PITA ( pain in the ankle )

oh my heck!!! I can't believe someone would just not show up, tell me the name I will come and pretend to be them :rofl:It might not have worked this time.. the person who failed to show was a guy.
Your shots are INCREDIBLE!! So is Bryan saying take this shot on such and such or giving more general assignments or just saying go shoot and see what you do?He brings us to the location, lets us set up where ever we want and then comes around to give advice, suggestions.... He will also get "props" ( leaves, flowers etc) and scatter them around to give the foreground more interest. He does also give very specific instructions for specific technique ideas such as panning, spinning , painitng... Today we went tinto the city of Portland specifically to pan images from a multi level garage... then went to find some enormous puddles to take reflection images of some skyline.. then we used our on board flashes as fill flash.
Some things he has specific ideas and others he is pretty go with the flow... he is very creative and easy to work with... if I can't "get" something, he will just take the camera, show you how to set the settings and the reasons for doing, take the image and then make me do a similar one. ...
Did you see my question about lenses? (probably not and I plan on PMing you if you don't :D) I want to know what lens I should get next, I have the 18-200 VR and a 50mm 1.8. I don't like how with my 18-200 when I zoom out I can only get down to like 5.6. Want to take lots of portraits, like senior portraits style and I am way jealous of the shots you took on facebook, what lens did you use? Thanks sweetie, have a great time!f Yes, I just saw it... the 18-200 is a variable aperture lens meaning it's lowest aperture when zoomed full out is a 5.6. The best aperture for portraits is 6.3-11 so the variable should make little difference. Typically, portraits are done with more than adequate lighting especially if it's a "set up" session.... you are probably finding that lens focuses very slowly, or hunts, which happens. Your 50 is a nice portrait lens and the 1.8 allows the lens to focus fast.. but you would never actually shoot at f/1.8- the depth of field is too shallow...
if I were to suggest a lens JUST for portraiture, a classic lens is the 85mm... these prime lenses are wonderfully sharp, simple lenses.. but no zoom means you use your feet to "zoom" in and out.. the 100mm f2/8 would also double as a macro lens...
alot of it depends , really, on what kind of shooting you plan on doing.. If you are using a studio set up, or good available lighting, then the lens you have already should be more than fine.. but if you are looking at taking portraits under less than ideal conditions light wise, then a fixed aperture is what you want.
Oh and in answer to your question in another post.. the average price of the USA workshops is $795 whle the overseas venues run higher.. but i will tell you, you get your money's worth !

ohhhhh good to know, for some reason I thought I should be down in the 2 to 3 range for portraits and couldn't get anywhere close. I have a backdrop stand and fabric, etc, but I don't have a bunch of external lights, so at this point I am mostly doing outdoor shots with available lighting. My pics that I posted earlier today, needed a bit of tweaking in PS, as the white balance was off a bit and the colors needed more pop, plus as it was just before sunset, it was really warm and glowing, but the pictures looked cold, so I adjusted the WB and sharpened and did a slight S curve in curves.
OK so the things I shoot are portraits of the kids, snapshots of "events", bdays, holidays, etc, and landscape/flowers-esp love macros/waterfalls etc. Oh and I want to be able to shoot more of the kids' swim meets, which makes me think I should try to find one w/ more zoom. I just am not sure even what I want. LOL you guys need to help me spend my money. (dh will be so happy to hear this  )
oh and Carolyn, I tried to look up the 100mm f/2.8 and not sure they are apples to apples cuz the Nikon was $150ish and the tokina was $450ish :confused::confused:

Heck if I know! I was swimming hard with some fins on, just using my legs for strength training. All of the sudden the tendon that wraps around the external maleolus (that is the knobby bone on the outside of your ankle) started aching BAD. Bizarre I am telling you. I guess it just takes talent.
Okay, if you were wearing fins, that makes sense to me. Are you feeling better today?

Carolyn, your class sounds amazing. I would totally have guessed that you would be the first in the water and getting your butt wet  Have a great time today! I can't wait to go look at your pictures, but facebook won't let me see them right now :(

Oh my heck!! Chris your daughter is gorgeous. Terrific photo of her. I love the one of your son too. Your portrait skills are great and I love the DoF in both of them. I'm off to look at your others, and Carolyns.
Our band competition yesterday was a success! The kids did great and took home 1st place in Music, visual effect and 1st place overall. They did awards for the A and AA bands before 3A and 4A performed. The band left after awards but I stayed behind with 6 of the older kids who wanted to watch some of the bigger bands. I'm so glad we stayed. They really had fun and I really enjoyed watching the bigger bands perform.

oh dang way big, well if it is messing with your screens lmk and I will go back in and resave it. Feel free to CC :)
Awesome photos
Aperture priority believe it or not ! meter the light and focus directly on the leaves... the rest takes care of itself. Aperture set to the hghest number for greatest depth of field (front to back) which will give a slower shutter speed creating the very smooth water.
Again... you've probably done this before, but how does one do a meter reading?

Are you asking how to take a reading? or what Carolyn was metering?
The taking a meter reading is that +|||||||||||0|||||||||||- thing at the bottom of your display when you push the button half way down. You turn the ap and ss until the mark is on the 0.
Christine

oh yeah and I think there is an explanation/picture in Bryan's book that you have and keep not reading. He even tells you what to meter off of

Unfortunately it sounds like it from what I hear. :( I hope it's not for her!
So how's everyone's weekend been? Low key here. Just relaxed most of the time. Hopefully now that I'm feeling better I can get out and take a lot of photos tomorrow. There's a lot of old mansions around here that I'd like to shoot. If I'm hanging around here tomorrow during the day tell me to get my butt in gear! LOL

Hi guys!!! Did you miss me? I missed you!!!! I had the lappie with me in Amarillo, but wasn't tempted to get on it at all! Gary and I were having a blast. I think we must have laughed all day yesterday! We did typical Amarillo tourist things. We went to a restaurant called the Golden Light Cafe on the old Route 66 and had yummy greasy burgers. Then we went to Cadillac Ranch where they have 10 old Cadillacs buried nose down in a field and people go and spray paint graffiti on them. Interesting. Then for dinner we went to a place called The Big Texan, which is just an old steak house that draws people in with its 72oz steak dinner that you can get for free if you can eat the whole steak, appetizer, salad, bread and potato in less than an hour, otherwise you pay $60. A guy tried it while we were there, but didn't make it. It was so great to get away.
Heather, you shouldn't talk bad about me when I'm not here to defend myself.:rofl::rofl:
Carolyn, wow!!!! Those photo of the falls are AMAZING!!!!! I'm still trying to pick my chin up off the ground.
Shana, I finished watching Greys a bit ago. You were right! It was good!
Chris, I first saw you photos on FB. They look AWESOME. My fav of your DD is the one where she is looking off into the distance.
Sands, when I first read about your week being Sat-Wed, I thought "Cool, they have a short week", then I figured out it is still 5 days.:rofl::rofl:
Michelle, YAYAYAYAYAYAY for the bad and its first place wins!!!!! Did you take photos of the competition?
