YES YES YES... The " I only watch the Superbowl for the Commercials" is a DEFINITIE group ! I remember way- back- when, the game was a real dog, the half time was lame, but the reviews lit up over the commercials!!! it was the first year of fantabulous commercials.. and ever since it's been like a race to be the best...
Well, that's the ONLY reason I watch the super bowl
And, Keith makes great treats!

We started homeschooling shortly after 7th grade started because she was not getting to have a life. She went to school all day - I had a copy of her text books, and I read them while she was at school. As soon as she got home from school, we would have school again until bedtime. We studied every weekend and all summer long. Now we have school from 6:15am-4pm Monday through Friday, and about 5 hours over Saturday and Sunday. I know it sounds long, but most days, during the week, we do not look at a single book after 4PM. She gets to take 2 classes in the evening at Venture Theater, go to youth group on Wednesday nights at the church, and take a drama class with the Christian Home School Educators. Those are things she never had time to do when she was in regular school.
Next time the boys complain about our 8 AM to noon schedule I'm gonna read this to them! (they do school stuff in the afternoon too, but it's on the computer and more like games, or reading which is done sitting on a bed and doesn't seem anything like school) But, if it's less than what she was doing, and sounds like it gives her the chance to really learn at her pace, then all is fantabulous!!!! You really are a super Mom, I can tell just by reading these!
Thank you all for your very kind words. We did another math quiz today and she made
68. Rats. We will retake it tomorrow. Gotta take the good with the bad. I oftentimes feel like her test grades do not reflect her level of knowledge.
I know that tests do not reflect what my boys know! One in particular already seems to choke so I try really hard not to call them tests. Given her situation, I'm sure that there is more in there than the tests can ever measure.
For those watching the superbowl today... have a great time.. and for those of you "watching" the superbowl but more interested in the parties.. have a great time.. and for those of you not giving a rats patootie about the superbowl.. have a great time !!!

Hi guys! I'm so frustrated right now! I tried to use a credit card last night at Hastings and it wouldn't go through, so today I looked online to figure out why. There were almost $900 in pending charges which I knew were not mine. So I called the credit card company and apparently someone in Oakland CA has been using my card at grocery stores and the post office repeatedly. So I had to cancel it and order a new one. :(

Kristie, so sorry about your uncle.:hug: Have fun at your Super Bowl Party!!!!:party:
Debi and Sands, can ya'll bake me a cake too? I love cake!!! But not necessarily in that shape!
Laura, I was finally able to get into the store yesterday evening.
I usually watch the Super Bowl, mostly because of the commercials, but probably won't this year because I usually love to eat goodies while I'm watching it, and since I am trying to keep my resolution of 15 pounds by June, I think I'll just scrap and work on my tablet class while Gary watches it and eats his cheese & sausage stuffed, bacon wrapped jalepenos and whatever else he decides he needs to eat.

If someone has gotten your information they can also get other cards- in your name!!!! The credit bureau can red flag your account meaning if anyone ( including you) tries to open another line of credit, that card/line of credit will NOT go through until it is verified by you.... but this may be a good safeguard until it's all straightened out.

OH NO!! I have actually had that happen twice. Once a lot of charges racked up and the other was caught very quickly. Both times it was caught by the credit card company, not me. I have had them also call and question charges that were legitimate. I am happy to know that the card companies are somehow watching and vigilant.

Yes, I knew something wasn't quite right last night because I knew I had charges on the card, but I knew it couldn't be maxed out. Then this morning when I called before I even talked to a real person, when I was still on the automated recording part they were asking lots of questions like "mother's maiden name" so I knew something was wrong. I've had them decline my card before when we were out of town because they thought it was suspicious activity, so now before we go out of town, I always call them and let them know.
Why would a person repeatedly in a few days have charges for about $50 to the post office. I thought that was weird.

Wow....DD told us tonight that she wants to attempt to go Air Force. I knew all along it was a dream of hers to do it, but she had (for a couple reasons) put it on the shelf. Oh no Rene!!! Last night I got a call from our satellite TV provider to say that their monthly subscription which they debit out CC for wouldn't go through. So today I was in the bank to find out why since our CC is in CREDIT!!! Anyway it seems our bank has made a decision that none of its credit cards can be used on an internet transaction. We have to apply for what they call an "Internet Card", which has a lower limit than a normal CC.
Probably a good thing, but I wish they'd let us know prior to stopping all transactions on the CC.

Will this be after college?
Nope.... like right after high school this year. I'm not all that worried about it though. If it's what she wants to do, then great.... however, she has some medical issues that I think will cause the military to not be letting her in. So I'm not paniced about it really. She has been wanting to go military for mannnnnnny years now so I wasn't entirely shocked. DH discussed with her about going to college first, getting her BSN and then looking into going into the military as an officer. There are several ways she could accomplish that but I don't think she's wanting to wait. We'll see. Maybe once she meets with the recruiter and sees what they can/will offer her, she'll change her mind... or be more encouraged to go forth.
Honestly though I think in the end, we'll be seeing her off to college. But I'm going to let her explore this military option and decide for herself, with our guidance, what she wants to do.
She also said at bedtime last night that she wants to check into the Marine Corps too..... now that actually scares her father. LOL!! We have a longggggggg line of Marines in my family, in addition to DH, so that idea didn't shock me either. Although, I did see DH swallow hard throughout that part of the discussion. LOL
Personally, I think if she goes military that the Air Force is better suited for her.
Not paniced....... yet.

Rene, after you get your Credit card closed - and get that cleared up
Is to contact the 3 credit reports you need to NOTIFY for fraud and get FREE reports are (google them - to see how to get to them - you order them on-line).
TRANSUNION
Equifax
Experian
This should be a FREE service..
All Tho, Each and every one of them will try their very best to sign you up for an quarterly /monthly PAID service, or a check of your FICO score, or something or another. What you need is for FREE.
and, anyone that has credit can check their credit with these agencies and should once per year FOR FREE.
just make sure you read the little boxes that you either check or not check.. as you go thru their various menus to make sure you are not charged anything this year or next
And, really check out the reports.
Like for example with us with a very common last name...
but, we have also have several - just use our good credit... so, they use my DH's name. But, their Social Security number... and, all the sudden we have about 6 houses.. worth millions.. so, we can't buy a house because we have 7 houses - our's and 6 others - until we get the credit agencies to clear that up... but the jerks at that point already own their homes... so, they got what they wanted.
we have our account flagged for that.. but, it happens over and over again.
also, check your address, employer.. check all the various parts
IF YOU FIND PROBLEMS, they give you procedures on how to correct the problems. - you basically send a letter to the bank or to let them know for example in the 6 house scheme I listed about - we don't own those houses... and they remove them from our credit reports ..
WHAT you don't do - is DON"T REMOVE paid off loans, or Credit cards..or houses..
that are valid... they are your good credit items..
You want to show a record of good credit - even if it means leaving old debt out there... that won't hurt you.
If you see a debt collector - (that's a separate category) now that's something you really want to deal with quickly... (my BIL had one he had no clue about... a bank had put it there - no one ever told him about it.. And, it was only for $75.00... fix stuff like that...
that is really bad for your credit...
Oh, one more thing - if you do care about a credit score the ONLY one that matters is your FICO score.. others may offer you a credit score - it means nothing it's only their credit score.. if you really care about a credit score - and you want to pay the $12 bucks or so... it's the FICO score that is the one you want.. not any of the others.
or buy a car, and you can find out for free...:rofl::rofl:

That is so scarey. My nephew joined the Air Force and I was so worried about him. (I worried about where they would send him, PLUS I suspect that he is gay). He went to school to be a flight engineer on combat helicopters. My fears quadrupled. Then, they decided not to send anymore flight engineers to the Middle East because too many had died, and they needed to keep some as "back up" in case there were problems here at home. He is out now and never went further than Wyoming.

In three weeks he spent over $10,000. The worst part was that my credit card was on autopay. When they tried to take over $10,000.00 out of my checking account to pay the bill, which obviously was not there, checks started bouncing all over the place. How, pray tell, could they spend over $10,000 on a card with a $3000.00 limit? The geniuses at Wells Fargo did curtesy upgrades on the account without asking. It was a mess.

We found out the military is a lot harder to get into than one would think. Back when Drew was without a job he sorta looked into it, but due to the fact that he has a GED instead of diploma he was going to have to take a test, but also his legal issues and his vision issues would probably have kept him out.
I hope whatever she decides is what she truly wants to do. She's a smart girl. She'll figure out what's best for her.

I really wish there was some way to find out how they got the card # because then I would know if I somehow did something wrong.

Rene, if that is the credit card you use on your system...i mean you computer system
I would have it scanned for every darn virus in the world
because that's how my last card number was stolen.
And, I don't mean by like a norton or mcafee

<<I don't think the work person is any better than the phone person. When it comes to helping you. I have had extensive experience dealing with both. I found so far none of them know what they are doing! Sorry, but that is what I think.
I ask questions (and I am not a computer geek) and found they cannot answer some of my questions that made me leery of using any of their services. The general people there are only there to sell products!
Example: I was interested in purchasing Wireless printer and of course sales person approached me and I asked questions none of which could be answered. then was referred to suposedly tech person who knew about computers, etc. also could not answer my questions and didn't even say they would find out for me.
I did not buy anything and have become more skeptical about using Best Buy or not certain about other stores that provide these things.
As I said only in getting you to buy stuff and then you are stuck with it and only give you a very short time to try it! >>

We have had more problems with Wells Fargo also, you have to watch them like a hawk. I just think it is the people are not knowledgeable and always protect the Company not you.
I am more inclined to keep my money at home(if it were possible) you get hardly no interest unless you have one of the special accounts and have a lot of money! They use your money and you get nothing for it and getting worse as far as I am concerned.
I am sick and tired of big banks being bailed out and the ordinary person has to pay for all this?>

I tried using Staples. I saw ad awhile back that if you gave them your old printer and bought new one you would get credit etc. etc. Well, I asked them if I tried new printer and I did not like it can you get your old printer back? Of course I knew the answer would be no! So I did not buy there either! Had experience won't go into details about something similar so I brought it back and they would not of course give me other one or credit, so leery about buying from them too! :)

Rene, when our card number was stolen and used it was a card that had not been used in over a year, had a zero balance owing, and had never ever been used online and not even an online account set up for it with the bank (I don't use that bank often, that one is all done via the old fashion way, US Mail). But they stole my number and used it online, a lot.... over a couple grand $$$$. I have no clue how they got the number, but the cards themselves were not missing. It was caught by the fraud department of our bank... they realized the activity was odd and called me right away.

The Best Buy nearest me is great. The only issue I have had, knock on wood, thus far is that they can't do much work on a Mac and send it out instead. But I know that isn't the case for all Best Buys.

I suppose the # could have been stolen by a waiter at a restaurant or anyone. We use that card so often because it is our Southwest Rapid Rewards card and it's how we get our free airline tickets. So there's no telling.

One other thing we learned was never to use your debit card at say a diner or whatever... because our card number was copied and stolen in Indiana when we were on vacation. The waiter there stole it before he brought the card back to me.
So now we only use credit card online and when we go eat out, never our debit card.

I only figured our Indiana one out because we used that card there when we stopped that evening for dinner, and that is where all the fraudulent purchases were from. The purchases started early the next morning.

OK... so just in case DD does go to college (which Im pretty sure will be the case), I have officially submitted her housing application for her dorm! Yay! One more checked off the list of "to do". I didn't want to wait it out and do it over the Summer and have her end up on a waiting list. Eek. I get it all back if she doesn't go, all but 50 bucks of it. I'll risk it, losing 50 is better than losing my sanity over worrying about where she's going to live since she's not done a housing app yet... so now I don't have to worry.
The guy called me though, from housing, and said I made a typo on her birthdate. LOL!! Uhh no.... really, she's 16. I swear it, I remember the painful delivery like it was yesterday, trust me I know what YEAR she was born. I promise you!! He laughed.... hehe. He was just a little shocked of her age, so thought for sure it was a typo.

He was so cool.. he said he might make her priority with the Seniors. First go Seniors and then 1st time freshman. He's thinking of allowing her "senior priority" because of her age, and putting her in one of the larger dorm rooms. It'll cost me, but only 200 bucks, and it's much larger and has 3 closets! It will still be in the Freshman hall, but just a much larger room. So we'll see.
Also, her best friend has been accepted there and if she can get funding, she's gonna go. The girls can choose to live together. I'll even pay her 200 portion for the bigger room if they get it, just so my kid can room together with her. At least for the first year til the girls learn their way around, etc. So I have my fingers crossed that she can find funding. Her parents are both unemployed and have been for nearly 2 years now. So I think she'll get some type of funding, I'm sure.

It has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR CARD... the buffer is inside your camera.. and obviously, your camera was telling you that you could take 9 images before the buffer would be full based on your settings.. nothing more than that.
Sorry, but I'm still not understanding. If it was telling me I could only take 9, why wouldn't it let me take any? IT WOULD NOT FIRE. IT WOULDN'T EVEN FOCUS.

Yes, my younger son was accepted into his field of choice with the Navy and his father would NOT sign the form. Dumb thing is, the boy turned 18 a week after HS graduation and left for the Navy four weeks later, but just not in the FIELD OF HIS CHOICE. Some people! Humph! :annoyed: :yikes:
This was also the father who would not allow the boys to play with guns when they were little. Now the son who was in the Navy (and then later in the US Army Reserves - so his dad really held him back from the service. ) is an avid hunter and his brother shoots guns in competition matches and is an officer in his gun club. It's hard to say 'no' when it's the only life she knows... she was born into the military world. Her father just recently retired after 22 years of the Marine Corps so the military life is really all she knows. So she knows what she's getting herself into, if she does it. Hard to say "it's good enough for your dad and the rest of the family, but not good enough for YOU, you ain't going...". I told her that as much as I'd love to see her stick close to home, that I am behind her in whatever decision she makes, so long as it's one that is good for her and her future. I'd love to be selfish to her and say "no" ..but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I did. Sometimes being a momma means we haveta make the hard decisions :-( even when it breaks our heart.

I bet the financial aid office at the college can help her.
That is what I told her too Rene. I told her to be sure to get her FAFSA done this month too. I don't know if that is where grants come from or if that is something else entirely, but I know it's important for her to get it done.

[QUOTE=GrandmaCrys;804094]Sorry, but I'm still not understanding. If it was telling me I could only take 9, why wouldn't it let me take any? IT WOULD NOT FIRE. IT WOULDN'T EVEN FOCUS.
[QUOTE]
Ahhhh, but you didn't say that.. you just said it was an r09 and it was driving you crazy.. ... and that techncally is not an error message...
go into your manual and look for RESET.. and do a reset...( it may be a 2 button reset.) and see if it helps.. somethimes you get a wonky happening and the reset is the first thing to try.. AND DON'T WORRY, NOTHING WILL EXPLODE OR BREAK...:rofl::rofl: it will merely set your camera back to the factory defaults.
I've just done a google search and there are TONS of questions concerning this same thing..and i have seen the mention of the camera "freezing" up in only a few...and in all cases they are recommending 1) a reset 2) trying a different lens 3) using a different media card..
The fact that you are unable to focus OR shoot makes me think there is a communication error between the camera and the lens.
Please double check that you have not inadvertantly switched to MANUAL FOCUS either on the lens or on the camera body.. because if this has happened, by DEFAULT, the camera will NOT take an image unless the focus has locked. ( I have hit that switch myself and had crying fits until I figured it out ! ) You did mention you were shooting on the macro setting, and macro is typically done in manual focus. , If you were trying to use auto focus while in macro setting, and the camera was too close to the subject,it will not be able to focus and lock on the focus, it won't fire without focus being established and locked . You can tell if you have focus lock when the little green dot in the lower left hand corner of the viewfinder is not blinking..
Do you see FEE or ERR anywhere??? Both of these denote an error.
FEE means the lens is not set at it's smallest aperture where it attaches to the camera body. If you look on the lens itself, right at the base where it seats to the camera, you may notice a series of numbers ( the same as your aperture numbers). This is the aperture ring. Make sure it's locked correctly at it's smallest aperture ( largest number) If there is no ring, don't worry about it.
An easy way to tell if there is or isn't an aperture ring is to see if the lens is labeled with a G on it... If there is a G, then there is no aperture ring so this would then be a non-issue as it goes on correctly every time.
Also, reformat the card. Its done in the menu under FORMAT.. it will erase everything on the card ! Sometimes, just deleting images one by one until the card is empty or deleting them via the computer, can leave "residue" of old images which can affect the card's performance . Ideally, this should be done each time you insert a the card. While I don't think this is the problem, it never hurts to hedge your bets.
If none of these helps, then I would check the advisory boards at Nikon to see if there is a "fix" or recall concerning this problem.
I know this seems like a great deal to do, but not knowing what lens you have I'm not taking any chances. I will continue to browse the forums to see if I can find any other more definitive answers.
I did find this
http://www.nikonusa.com/Service-And-Support/Service-Advisories/D70-Service-Advisory.page
but don't know if it applies to your camera... it's worth checking out.. it was the only thing regarding a d70 I could find... and your camera is a d70s ???

Well, only his mama lives here (with step daddy)....
I don't know where his daddy lives ok
and, yes, I guess the have water
because they don't live on my STREET..
I live on a cul de sac with only 12 houses..
And, the Pulte people who came out first (and asked me to take photos) said they never saw this before - and they've been here over 12 years..
so, yes, Ms. McConaughey has water...

AS IF my day couldn't get worse:
my neighbor called, said you might want to look, (it is pouring, lightening, thundering outside - like I really care about going outside!)
you might have a little leak.
I'm thinking, you called for a little leak - I'll wait until Keith gets home
until I looked outside - my LITTLE leak was a major water main break - we are gushing water half way into the street, - my neighbors yard is totally washed out.
my neighbor says - oops got a little worse.. hmm,
do you think you should call the city?
I'm thinking... hmm, ya think?
He calls his wife who works at the building offices - they send some one over to monitor what is happening..
He contacts the city... and demands they send someone right away...
Great... it's raining... plus I have water pouring out into the street like you can't believe
and, where is my husband - you guessed it - BOWLING!
Trying to decipher exactly what is causing your grief. Is it POURING WATER or NO WATER or BOWLING?  (Sorry, I just couldn't resist) Seriously, I'm hoping your water issues have resolved by now.
And anyone who really knows Matthew knows he doesn't shower often. So, just send him to Illinois and I'll take good care of him. ( ...if I can still remember how!)

Awwwww, Chris.....this is horrid. I would be completely incapacitated by now. :yikes: :yikes:
Carolyn, thanks so much. Sorry I missed you on Yahoo last night; I'm usually *on*, but not there! :o
I have printed out your message and will have a look tonight. I do know that I was NOT in manual, because that is one of the few things I knew to check.
I'm relatively sure there was no FEE or ERR, but I will double check that tonight too.
I ALWAYS reformat my card. One of the things we were taught at the *how to use this camera* class we took was to NOT delete via the computer or card reader or any other means than reformatting.
And yes, my camera is a D70s. I believe the lens I had on was the 18-70, but not quite positive about the numbers.
Thanks, again!

How are my girls today? I've been so bored today I've been productive! If that makes sense at all.
I do need some help from either Lisa or Chris or anyone that would be able to tell me how (dimension wise) to make a greeting card. I have been taking Chris and Lisa's advice and taking random pictures of Daniel doing things that I appreciate him doing or just love about him. I thought I would turn it into a greeting card for him for valentine's day. I have the kits already that I want to use, just got them the other day. I want to do it as much as possible like the kind you can get at the store as far as something on the outside and both sides on the inside and then of course the back which would be blank with the exception of a "made by me" type insignia.
I'd like to get it all done tomorrow while he is at work if at all possible. Yeah, I should have done it today and actually had pretty much all the time in the world since the dogs decided to sleep about 90% of the day today (to Sophie's credit she is sick with a respiratory infection).
Any ideas?

and if you want to print it out the right way, not cut and paste, you make a 4.25x5.5" rectangle in the upper right corner of your letter sized document, then you do both designs in that same rectangle. Wink off the inside guts layers, then print, flip your paper over and put back in the printer with the same end going in first, then wink off the front layer and have the guts on, then print again. Then just cut your paper in half. Most printers scooch everything down just a tad, so just watch when you go to cut so your spacing is the way you want it.

I haven't been here in several days. Monday: hmmmm.... the boys didn't finish school until nearly 4 PM because of serious dawdling. Yesterday there was school, teacher visit, eye appointments for all 3 kids, and then a maaaaarrrvvvelous girls night for me. I finally got to see New Moon, and it was at the restaurant theater here in town. So a delicious Greek Gyro pizza, some popcorn and a little too much wine. When SIL poured the last little bit into my glass I leaned over and told her I really didn't think I needed it because my face was already numb! But I had a really good time.

Who/what is this about Matthew Mchauney (however you spell it)? I absolutely love him so if someone knows him personally I WANT an autograph! That or some good juicy details :)
Chris, so sorry to hear about your computer problems. DH always recommends AVG virus software to his clients. You can go online and get the free version and ever since I've had it I have not had one virus on my system. If you need help with recovery of your files, I can talk to him and see what he can recommend LD wise. Data recovery is one of his specialties.
Okay, so on that card I am trying to do, Chris you kind of lost me with talking about "winking" ....lol.....I need to go tomorrow and find some nice cardstock and see if by chance our Office Depot has it along with ink for the wide format printer which I still have yet to use! I begged and begged for that thing and I got it Christmas before last but because of trying to find the right size paper and ink I have yet to use it even once! Ugh.
Stitch - Just noticed your photography flair pin....I WANT! Where'd you get it?
Carolyn, sorry to hear about all the snow in your area. You guys got hit way hard, even harder than our blizzard we had last week it sounds like. I know what you mean about not really wanting to miss work, but try and enjoy it while you can! Go out and take some gorgeous winter shots that I know I'll envy.

I am extremely close to my mom and just the idea of losing her someday literally makes me vomit. I am so sorry that you and your family, your father, are having to go through this pain. My heart goes out to all of you.
Hugs my friend, hang in there.

Im hoping maybe one of you can help me... with CS4. I am so frustrated. I'm trying to work on a challenge and have been trying for 3 darn days now but I'm beyond mad at this thing and ready to toss a rock into my screen outta frustration, LOL!!'
I think I changed a setting somehow or something without realizing it and can't figure out how to resolve this.
When I move things up or down within my layers, I get a little white fist looking icon (instead of my move tool) and it doesn't let me do anything.... I'm like frozen, except sometimmmmes it lets me do a CMD+Z (Im on a Mac) to undo.
Any idea what is happening?

Laura, sounds like something might be wonky w/ your prefs file. I am not sure where that would live on a mac but here is the address on my laptop, so maybe you can use it to figure it out:
c:/users/christine/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/AdobePhotoshop cs4/adobe photoshop cs4 settings/adobe photoshop cs4 prefs
if you delete that file, the next time PS opens it will build a new one. Be sure to save your workspace if you really like how you have it set up, then you can just reload it. You will have to go back into the preferences in PS ie. edit>preferences to set up things like # of undo's or plug ins etc
Another thing to check is do you have your cap lock on? that does all kinds of wonky things to the cursor. lol
As a side note, if you want to move stuff up and down in the LP, you don't even have to click and drag, you can do ctrl+[ or ] for down and up one layer, or ctrl+alt+[ or ] for down to the bottom or up to the top. hmmmmm I think this will be out SOTW for tomorrow. you guys will already be brilliant beforehand :D

morning ladies, how is everyone today?
I'm starting to get frustrated trying to make this card for DH. I have the dimension thing figured out, I think. now I am just stuck on the creative aspect of things...as usual. I have an awesome idea for it, but just making myself get down and do it seems to be the issue. I am so ADHD when it comes to scrapbooking! I really gotta stop looking at the gallery or trying to "borrow" other people's ideas and just do it!
Okay, now that that pep talk is over, back to work for the next half an hour!

Or you can right click on it too.. and do reveal in bridge.

I have, but it's been a few years. I think the last movie I saw there was Murderball (aka wheelchair rugby :) I wasn't aware of what the booths are though? Oh, when is the boys' scout thing again? BTW got a bit of good news, I think. Looks like work is going to have me do some more clinical aspects of my job (which I love)...... train me on doing some clinics and then I will go to the various stores. The bad thing is it won't be at the store that is right close to my house, but if it all works out I will be doing what I love and have lots of flexibility. We are just taking it one step at a time, to see if it works out and for right now, I am basically going back to school, to get ready for an upcoming seminar/certificate program.

Debbie, so sorry to hear about your mom.. It's never easy to lose a parent no matter how old WE are. They have been there all our lives and their missing leaves a hole. As strange as this may sound, don't dwell on the loss but celebrate the LIFE you were all so privileged to share.
The night of my dads funeral fell on Christmas Eve. Some of the younger grands, while "theoreticaly" understanding the events, still were anxiously awaiting the annual party. As we sat around, we started to tell "Joe Stories" and laughed till we cried,,, but it was a good cry.. It was then I realized to celebrate the LIFE is so much more than dwelling on the loss. The loss hurts.. yes, it does.. but the sting of that eventually fades and in it's place are the warm, caring, funny moments/times which made that LIFE worth living and worth mourning.
Take care , girlfriend...

I'm hoping she thinks to use the internet/email function on her phone to let everyone know she's good to go.. She landed in Thailand at 11:38 PM today ( Thai time) which is 12 hours ahead of us! Yes, this is her fist real "vaction adventure" since being out of school, working etc. She and 3 other gals all decided to go to Thailand for 3 weeks. Gotta love being young ! The flight was 26 hours! And we were sweating the outbound flight from Boston on Thursday. Because of the snow storm, ALL western outbound flights were cancelled from 3pm Wedensday to 7am Thursday. Her flight was 850 am.. and one of the first to fly out.. Boston to Chicago, Chicago to Tokyo, Tokyo to Bangkok.

Good morning everyone! Had to check in before I am off to carefully swim :D My shoulder is acting up. Not sure if it is arthritis or just tweaked it.
Atta boy for McLovin' this morning. Normally Valentines comes and goes w/ next to no acknowledgment cuz my birthday is so close it just sorta gets rolled into one and we might go get something to eat, but usually everywhere is so packed we end up doing nothing. So last night dd and her bff wanted him to take them to the store. While they were there, he picked up a bunch of my favorite things. Nothing big or anything, just stuff he knows I love. Which was perfect! Made me feel special :D He got some cinnamon candy hearts, a couple of heart balloons, some flowers, raspberry/chocolate ice cream (my other favorite, esp when peppermint is not available), a smell good candle, and some Andes mints. Isn't that so sweet?!!

It has been quiet here the past few days. I don't even know what I've been doing. Spent a long time working on my trendsetter page. Still no word on my lens..... sigh, don't know what is taking so long. :( Hopefully my computer will be done today, but then I still need to take the EHDs in to have them looked atIf it makes you feel any better, i received the email it had shipped at 6 am and actually received it at 11 am..(20 minutes before i left for Alaska.) so they had shipped it prior to their computer sending out the notifications !
It's a very popular lens.. and I've seen the backorder notice before... and at ALL the online merchants.. so it's not just Adorama ...same thing with my 12-24.... when I saw the backorder, I checked 3 other sites.. all said the same thing..
So, just hang on.. don't let your Hanes Her Way get into a twist...lol... it'll get there...
Take it easy swimming...
Glad to hear about the job and the computer !

Carolyn so exciting that your DD is off on such an adventure!! I hope she has a blast.
Sandy, I'm a huge Survivor fan. I love the cast of Heroes vs. Villains. Looks like it will be a fun season.
Kristie, my photography flair came out of the flair gallery somewhere. But I think you can probably just "steal" it from my siggie if you right click and look at the properties. right?
Chris, so glad to hear your potential good news on the job front. I've got my fingers crossed.
It has been quiet here the past few days. I don't even know what I've been doing. Spent a long time working on my trendsetter page. Had honor roll breakfast one morning for DS, straight A's  sorry, I should have brag alerted that. Had a couple of rush jobs in the shop that kept me occupied, though work is really slowing down. Monogramming just not a priority in this economy. Oh and I read a book! Time Traveler's Wife. I really liked it, now I want to see the movie.
<<I saw the movie "Time Traveler's Wife" and thought it was great. It's a shame they did not publicize this movie more. My husband thought it was great too. I will go backwards and read the book.>>

Talked to one of my grandsons last night. Today he is leaving for Perth, Australia.
He is in the Notre Dame Band in Indiana. They are taking a trip to Perth and will be staying in Free Mantle, I guess is this a suburb of Australia?(for all of you that live in Australia)
He will be staying at Notre Dame of Australia till around June. He is very excited. Being in the band he has had the opportunity to travel all over the country!
We hope to keep in contact with him via web cam!
I have a picture of him in his band outfit but don't know to put it in here.

I really liked the book, but can't even imagine how they made it a movie. I'm going to guess that the book and movie are fairly different.

Our trip is mid March to Tucson AZ. We're going a few days earlier and staying a few days later as I have a cousin we will be staying with.Hopefully we'll have some time to practice what we learned. I have a Canon. I bought myself some equipment for my BDay - 10-22 and 70-300 lenses along with the one it came with 18-55. I have the tubes and a polarizer filter. I think there might be a few filters I need to get. Did you need to take your camera equipment out when going thru security?
I asked my cousin about temps and she said 50 at night and 70-80 during the day. So I'll need something warmer for the early morning shoots. I've been trying to figure out where he might take us for the shoots.
I've also been trying to figure out how all this equipment works. I'm also reading his book on Exposure and DH has been reading the one on Shutter Speed. We're both going. Hopefully we'll be able to help each other after the workshop.
Thanks for the offer but I think by then I will be set.I'm getting excited about going and also nervous. Does he send out a notice when the final payment is due? I haven't heard anything since I made the deposit.

Our trip is mid March to Tucson AZ.Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. what on earth made me think TX.. Man, I must be losing it ! Nope, just leave it all in the case/pack and put it right on the track and it will scan through..
I asked my cousin about temps and she said 50 at night and 70-80 during the day. So I'll need something warmer for the early morning shoots. My suggestion is to wear layers.. He definitely gets caught up in the moment so don't get caught up in "time to go back"... he could very well have you out there all day ! Make sure you thorw a couple bottles of water in your pack.. I've been trying to figure out where he might take us for the shoots. It might be in the information pack he emails along with the deposit voucher. I would double check that.. If there is nothing there, then I guess he is going to surprise everyone. Again, he goes with the flow of the weather etc to determine locations..
I've also been trying to figure out how all this equipment works. Just play with it .. any questions you have he is MORE than willing to work one on one with you.. I'm also reading his book on Exposure and DH has been reading the one on Shutter Speed. We're both going. Hopefully we'll be able to help each other after the workshop.Be prepared to learn/see an amazing amount of information ! And don't panic if you don't remember it all right away. Bryan is one of the ost approachable people.. and he would rather have you ask the questions and ask for help rather than get frustrated.. so don't be shy. You can also ask your classmates. In our group, everyone was willing to share info, help others and share filters etc... You are all in the same boat.. there to learn and improve your skill set whether it be beginner, intermediate or advanced..
Thanks for the offer but I think by then I will be set.I'm getting excited about going and also nervous. Does he send out a notice when the final payment is due? I haven't heard anything since I made the deposit. You should be receiving a voucher via email regarding the final payment. I think I sent mine in about 3 weeks before the class if I remember correctly..
Make sure you are familiar with using your tripod as it will no doubt be your best friend.. LOL ....
Dress in comfortable layers with clothes you don't care if they get dirty and make sure you have good sturdy walking shoes..AND REMEMBER TO PACK BUG SPRAY.. If you have a waist pack, i'd suggest wearing it. It's a handy place to put your lens caps, filters, a lens, etc so you don't constantly interrupt your work flow going back and forth to your backpack all the time. I had a jacket with a kangaroo pocket in the front and it was a life saver ! If you find out that you will be near water, bring a small hand towel , as well as your lens cloths. ( should you take off your shoes and socks to wade into the water,, you'll appreciate the towel ! ) that's about it..
Just keep in mind that Bryan runs a very free-form workshop.. there are no set times, venues can/will change depending upon the weather, and the man can teach a workshop with a rock ! It's amazing how that guy can "see" mundane objects...and he has enough funny stories to fill several books. If you can, try to get into the van he is in... you'll be howling with laughter.. and it's more photography questions time too.
you will leave your computers at the hotel so will not be lugging them around.
If you have questions about the shoot locations and you can't find that information in the original email , you can always email him. He generally answers within a week's time depending on what he's doing.
You guys will have a good time, I'm sure.. and then will be spending the next few days mentally hashing out everything. LOL!
just to give you an idea of what he's like to work with

Yes, DH and I are taking his class. Carolyn got me excited after seeing her posts of her class so we decided it was our christmas, Bday, everything wrapped into one gift to each other. Although I received a new nano ipod today for my BDay. I have one of the original ipods that DH decided needed replacing. We figured if we took the class in March we would be ready to practice when the weather got better here in CT.
The grands are here for the weekend. Yesterday we went to see the Lion King which was so much fun. TOday they want to go to the science center. They each made Bakerella's valentine cookie and today we'll frost and decorate it.
Carolyn-thanks for that site....will watch his clips.....watched the one on oil and water .....then it was time to go to bed. Told DH I could sit all night and watch them ....but knew the kids would be up early

I know because I'm way behind on the BD presents that need to be done. I've got 5 BDs in March, starting with my Sis, then DDs, then DH and his Mom's on the same day, then my Mom later in the month. Most will just get cards, but of course, can't do that with DD. DH will have to wait for his, because there is no way to get a full sized man's sweater knit in just over 2 weeks. Although, the Sock Monkey I knit for DD is done and just needs wrapping. Now if I can get these socks done before then. Maybe I should go work on them. (Can't tell what they are at this point, so no harm in working with her awake. In a couple days that won't be the case!!!)
Have a good V day every body!!!!!

If the show Beauty and the Beast comes to a performing arts center near you, I strongly recommend you see it. It's a fantastic production and more than worth anything you spend on the tickets. We went to the matinee perfomance which I wholeheartedly enjoy- many of the little girls were dressed up as "Belle" and so cute! And the comments the kids make during the performace are a hoot. During the number" Be Our Guest" on little one asked her mom " Why does Belle need so many forks?" when the dancing cutlery came out ! Oh man, I nearly busted my seams laughing as did the others I was with .

Hi everyone I'm home. And, I have a ton of photos..
But, I forgot how to scrap.. I just don't even know how to start..
I have my 52 faces - but, I don't want to use them.. they are sad faces..
I didn't even begin to know how many lives my mama and daddy touched until this week.. I knew they were amazing people to me..
But, I didn't know how amazing they were to so many - I couldn't believe the turn out to her service.. the chapel was packed..
the flowers & plants.. - there were so many.. the cards, so many..
even our teachers from our grade school - then nuns, showed up.. because they taught all 4 kids.. they came.. because my mama was so envolved in school..
and, relatives I hadn't seen in so long.. they told me so many stories.. - I can't remember them.. it's all a blur.
my poor daddy it did so well.. I'm so darn proud of him..
but, some drove over 6 hours to be there.. just to show their respects..
the sad part is - we had another death yesterday - my daddy sister died - My Aunt Mildred.
This will be my 4th funeral in a month.
my cousin Gilbert - heart attack
my daddy' oldest nephew - Mike my cousin died of cancer - we buried him last week
my mama..
and Mike's mama, - my Aunt Mildred...
when will it stop
my friend said it will - after mama - death comes in 3's .. but this is 4...
I can't take another funeral
and, I do the photos.. and photo boards..
my heart is just broken..

I want sock monkey pictures!!! I love those things. And I assume those cards are going to be special Lisa-made cards. :D Good luck getting the sweater finished.
Barbara, add me to the list of people jealous over your Bryan workshop!
Rene, are you home yet? How are you feeling, daredevil girl? I don't think you and G should ever go back to Broke Butt Mountain.

Ya know, I was griping to anyone that would listen about having to go, but we really did have a nice day. Then, on the way home, DH says: "That was really a good show, I'm glad we went and the best part is that we did somethng together!" I was flabbergasted. SOOOOOOOO glad I went, soooooooooooo wished I hadn't griped about it.  :yikes: :yikes: ;)
You must have been gobsmacked ! Amazing when they actually NOTICE something like that and APPRECIATE it !

Hey everyone, I'm BACK!!!! I had so much fun seeing my friend and shopping! It was warm, relaxing and I didn't worry too much about my dieting so I ate lots of fun food. I did watch my portions cause I didn't want to gain too much weight and I only gained a 1/2 pound! :yahoo::yahoo: I didn't really take any photos because I have some of where we went anyway so no pics to show you.
Now I am figuring out this weekend in San Diego with DH and what to do there when DH is at the plant for work!! Maybe sit on the beach and read!!
Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Sitting on the beach enjoying a book and the SUNSHINE sounds good to me. When we go to SD at this time of the year we enjoy having lunch by the water and watching the sailboats.
ENJOY!!!

This morning DD called and suggested she meet us half way(between NY and NJ) to get the kidos. We took her up on it so we wouldn't be stuck in PA for and extra day due to the snow. They have really gotten hammered the last few storms and are wondering what's in store for them with this one. We're back home and relaxing. THey also got home safely.
It was fun having the kids and now the house is sooooo quiet.

Hi all!
Debi - my heart is breaking for you! Hugs GF!
Crys - how wonderful of him to say that!
Stitch - I'm gonna try to get pics tonight, but I don't know if I'll be able to post them for a bit. It's a present for DDs BD and I don't want it anywhere she can see until I give it to her. If I get them posted any where I will be sure to let you know.
Kind of a quiet day! We finished our Dinosaur Lapbooks (I need to get pics of those too!) Then a little to do with the Olympics. But with Daddy home for Presidents day, we've kept it kind of light!

jUST got another email from Robin in Thailand... i am posting it here exactly as I received it...beware, she is not much on standard sentence structure LOL
hey mom, sorry my last email was short. as soon as we got the password for the wi-fi, they started boarding the plane. we're having so much fun. we did a thai cooking class yesterday. its almost 6am here and we're getting ready to go to the golden triangle where we're going to see some more temples and the hill tribes. one of the tribes includes the women who put those rings around their necks to elongate them. they are the long necks... tomorrow we're doing the elephant rides. the weather is beautiful.. 90 degrees with low humidity. thai food is fabulous... i havent gotten sick.. thank god. and we've met some really nice people here.. a lot of people from london and autralia. alright. i'm heading down to breakfast. talk to you soon. love you. miss you. tell everyone i said hi
