Bye Crys, I'll miss you, you have my phone number... hey, give me a call from the road ok.

And, I promise to MIS BEHAVE while you are away ok!!!:yippee::yippee:

Yeah, while, Crys is gone, I can be BAD!!:yippee::yippee:

OOPS!!! I just now read this! Sorry, Miss Behave! :o :o

OK, here I sit staring at the store thinking, what photos can I use with all that lovely orange in Chris's Live and Love kits. I want the whole thing, including the WA (which I rarely buy, but I love those family definitions). I went so far as to look in my iPhoto for recent shots and low and behold I have one of DH doing science with the kids and guess what he is wearing: yep, and orange shirt. Is that enough for the VC? Well, if not, I can make a trip to the botanical gardens. I'm sure I can find some wonderful Orange flowers. Or maybe I can dig up an adorable orange outfit for DD!

What do you all think? Can I spend money on clothes that DD does not need just to buy a kit that I'm in love with?

Of course!! You're a scrapper. :D

Oh Christy, what a beautiful page of the two of you! It must have been so wonderful to be able to meet up and chat! :D

You all should meet McB!!! She has absolutely, beyond a doubt the MOST beautiful hair I have ever seen. Long, luscious and curly!! TO DIE FOR!!! And she's fun, and she's kind, and she and her girls are so thoughtful! And her girls are as adorable and vibrant IRL as they are on a scrap page! ;)

Awesome LO Christy! Isn't Crys the best?! I hope you all get to meet her one day!!

You are THE SWEETEST, addicted!! ;) Now, how much do I owe you?

Miss Ing checking in! I had a wonderful time. On Monday, Jackson stayed home from Day Care to have a special *Grandma & Jackson* day. That is when we met McB and her lovely girls for lunch. Almost 3 yr olds are a handful and I was plumb tuckered at the end of the day; but we sure did have fun!!

On Tuesday, Alex stayed home and we had our special *Grandma & Alex* day! What fun. If my feet could have stood it, I could have kept him happy the entire day by walking him in his stroller. No matter how long the walks we took, he was NOT ready to get out!! What a sweetie he is.

Are you all having fun with CIJ? Yesterday was Pioneer Day, which is a state holiday, sorta like a 2nd Fourth of July, where we celebrate our pioneer ancestors, who founded this state. Lots of fireworks, picnics etc abound. :)

As you probably saw, I figured out my actions issue, wahoo! oh but then I had a BIG issue with putting them in the store. For TWO days, I fussed with it. You see we have to fill out this form that has the links/description/title/model# etc etc and even though I did it the same way I do every other product I ever put in the store, it kept giving me an internal error. It was driving me CRAZY, nobody knew why it wasn't working. I finally went thru every field starting out w/ an old form that had already worked, checked that to make sure it still worked, then substituting in the new information, one field at a time until I got the error. Found out it was in my description, lovely that is by far the biggest field. Next I check the words, that worked. Hmmmm must be in the links, add those in and sure enough error, so I reworked the links about 5 times, kept getting the error, finally get sick of doing the word part and figure I will just work on the links until they are fixed and no error. Oh yay, I have it, so I add the words back in and there is a stinkin' error! So only words - ok, only links - ok, but together not so much. uggggg! I finally started w/ just the links, then added one paragraph, then one sentence, then one word at a time until I FINALLY narrowed it down to the word select. I had used the word select in saying select your pictures and apparently select is a word that html uses, so when there were links in the description too, it was making them be wonky. How crazy is that?! Once I changed the word to choose, the original description worked perfectly, can you believe that?! I could have stopped lots sooner and just done the words, but by that time I was BUGGED and bound and determined to figure out what the problem was.

Chris - I can totally relate! I've been having a similar battle except mine is with new or should I say upgraded software.

Vent Alert!
Mac girls: what do you use for finances. If it's Quicken, have you upgraded to the 2010? If yes, are you having problems with the "Update" feature and the way it talks to your bank? It says it talks to the bank, but it doesn't download anything! It doesn't show what's being updated at all. And, I hate that it doesn't require me to enter the password. This means if I have my machine worked on, I will have to completely remove the Quicken first (no way I'm trusting anyone to have access to that info!) (And not that it needs to be worked on often - it is a Mac ) And one more irritation (I'm sure at this rate I will find more), it won't let me preference for it to enter the decimal point. I mean, come on, if you are going to make me 1. hit the New button for every transaction, 2. make me type every last detail, then 3. add the bloody decimal point every single time........... Argh! I hate the changes they have made this time!

are these problems specific to the mac version? We use Quicken and upgraded to 2010, just because we HAD to to continue getting the stock update thingies. DH hates every time we have to upgrade so he certainly didn't do it willingly. But I don't think he is having these issues for I am certain I would have heard complaints and I know for sure that we have to enter a password to get into Quicken

These past 8-9 months have been the hardest of my life. Ever since Ethan got sick and then moving, it has really rattled me. Sorry, Lisa.. I quit using quicken when I went to the mac, because they didn't have a "real" version out then.. I'll have to check to see what they have now... the one they had out when I checked was free ware..

What I'm using is - all my accounts are on etrade.. so, I get all my info in one place, and their checking info can be sorted any way I need it...

Thanks Crys, I really want to scrap. I have tried and just nothing ever comes and I hate the LO and just trash it. :(

So I went to the DMV with my marriage certificate, because that's what they told me to bring in, but it wasn't a "county copy" so I'll be going back a 5th time. I had no idea that you got a certificate from the county and that the one from the church you got married at is only a "souvenir" in her words. So hopefully my mom can get it taken care of and send it to me and I can actually have a normal license.

Oh, Heather, what a pain. I was so very lucky that transferring my license went so smoothly.

I went back to the old program yesterday, got everything done and then re-exported to the new program. I won't know until later in the week if it will download correctly, but at least I got my bills paid and balanced to the bank. Really, the things they took out was stuff I never used anyway, but if you are using it to track investments - don't buy the new Quicken Essentials. I'm going to have to look, but I'm sure this is all they do on the Mac anymore. After reading quite a bit I think I'm beginning to see some of the logic they used in this upgrade, but as a former bookkeeper, I'm not happy with that logic at all. I think it's just another example of the "dumbing down of America". If any of you here of a good alternative, I sure would be glad to look at it.

Hey all - don't miss the new Sunday Scrappers challenge for CIJ! We will even have a random winner for a coupon to the store! Woot!

1- Is there an easy way to resize something or do you just open PS and do it in there?

I don't really understand this one...

2- What is Snow leapord?

Snow Leopard is MAC's latest OPERATING System - most new macs come with it installed - they name all of their operating systems with CAT names. The one before SNOW leopard was LEOPARD.

You can tell if you are running on SNOW LEOPARD by Clicking on the APPLE in the top left corner of Workspace - Click on ABOUT THIS MAC

If you are running version 10.6 or later - you are on Snow leopard - or you can check your DVD's that came with your mac - if you See a SNOW-y Leopard on them - you have Snow Leopard.

3- How do I open up to see files so I can find what I'm looking for? I knew I saved something but couldn't remember where. So I had to open excel just to hit open to see where it was. Does that make sense???

Spotlight is the way to find Anything on your entire mac.
in the very right corner on your workspace you will see a magnifying glass.
type in what you are looking for. Say you are looking for a layout your started, but you don't know where you saved it..

Click on the magnifying glass - it opens a tiny search box. type in what you are looking for.. from there you can narrow down your search..

Sooooo HAPPY to be home. But feel totally guilty leaving my mother. BUT, I have to remind myself that MY KIDS need a mother too... so here I am :-) I think this weekend we will ALL go see my mom, and me and DH will take the kids to the Orange County Fair. Maybe, I might be content on just being home. We'll see. I love being at my parents, but I love being home too. I wish I lived much closer cause then I can have the best of both worlds. Oh well.

Thank you for all the messages on the board, email and PM. I really appreciate the thoughts, prayers and words of encouragement. Its been a hard road, but an even harder one for my mom since she's the one going through it. She's doing VERY well today though.

I have one huge wish.... for her to STOP smoking. It's been about 10 days now, I hope she doesn't ever pick up another one. I want her around for a very long time. Fingers crossed that she does this!!

Laura - so glad you are back! I know that giving up smoking is very hard! I did it about 12-13 years ago, now. And believe me, it's the best thing I ever did. I would not have the wonderful husband I have, nor the kids if I had not quit when I did. Of course, the health benefits are good too, but those are my best reasons for never going back.

Thank you Lisa. I know it's going to be so hard for her to quit, but I sure hope she does it. It would do her health a world of good and perhaps she'd even be able to toss out the hundreds of inhalers she uses each day... ok, not hundreds but it sure seems like its hundreds! She had a massive heart attack last year, breast cancer the year before, an aneaurysm this Summer, a lung cancer scare this Summer, emphasyma (sp) this year... and shall I go on?! She *MUST* quit! She *NEEDS* to quit!! I LOVE HER, I want her around for a long long time... she's too young to give up now! I will be so heartbroken if she keeps smoking. I want her to WANT to be around for herself AND for us and her grandchildren. We are rootin' for her, I hope she does it. She hasn't SAID she will quit... we are just begging and watching. It's about all we can do.

Hey all! I can't sleep right now, I'm too excited! Tomorrow (well today actually) I'm going to get my haircut (they can't do a French Twist with how long it is right now) and trying on my dress for the last time and bringing it home! Just a week from Friday (or tomorrow I should say!) My little sister is going to be a Mrs....wow!

Sorry I've been so quiet, but I was struggling with the depression and anxiety for a while. I didn't really want to post and be all doom and gloom. I'm starting to feel more myself, I think it's just all the stress and such leading up to the wedding. Now that all the family activities are starting, I seem to be getting into better spirits. But, I'm still going to talk to my psychiatrist about going onto the MAOIs. I can't keep going down like that. I'm a little nervous...and I will probably have to go into the hospital for a while. My psychologist actually thought I probably should have these past few weeks, but I was trying to hang on to make it through the weddings. So far so good. If I have to go into the hospital afterward, so be it.

Laura - so glad your mother is doing better and you're home. You've been in my thoughts and prayers.

It doesn't look funny to me and I have a pretty big screen. Not sure what you're seeing.

Here are the settings on mine:

On the Save for Web Screen:

Hey I am back, need to try to catch up. We had a wonderful trip to Lake Powell. For anybody not from around here/ never heard of Lake Powell, it is truly an incredible place to visit! Lots of red rock canyons and the rock formations are just WOW! The one scary part was when we planned this trip ages ago, we did NOT know there were going to be lots of thunderstorms during our stay and we were CAMPING. I mean real camping, throw all of the stuff in the boat and find a place to put up tents somewhere in one of the canyons, kind of camping. No utilities of any sort, not even water or potties. The scary thing was in the morning & afternoon it would be nice weather, then at night the storms would move in, way too late to do much about it, except ride it out. We didn't actually get much rain, just some sprinkles but the wind would pick up (mmmmmm yummy sand in our dinner LOL) then about bedtime it started to thunder and lightning on some nights. EEEEK! Can I tell you how much it made me appreciate my house?! As I am lying there in a flimsy tent, that is being blown around a bit and the thunder is booming and the lightning was lighting up the sky like midday, knowing we can't really even leave as there are no lights in the canyon to get back to where the truck was parked, my thoughts kept asking "and we are doing this why?!" But then morning would come and all would be well and another gorgeous day would start. :D At any rate, we are back safe and sound and had a super trip.

Oh and one other cool thing, we had the first of our "new additions" to our family today. We have been raising monarch butterflies. Casey and the kids found a bunch of monarch caterpillars a few weeks ago, we have been finding milk weeds wherever we could to feed them until they went into their chrysalises. We were worried about the timing of the trip, but thought we would be back just in time for the first one to come out. The last ones just started theirs when we left, so we didn't have to worry about them being fed while we were gone. Talk about perfect, the first one came out today just after we got home. I got a few pictures before we went to church. I was hoping he would still be drying wings when we got home, but we put him out on a branch outside before we went just in case. I guess I should say tried to put him on a branch cuz he felt the breeze and decided the wings were plenty dry thank you very much and off he flew. Hopefully I will get some better pics of them w/ their wings open on the rest of the butterflies.

Chris - glad you made it home safe and sound. The butterflies sound like so much fun. I keep wanting to buy one of those Ladybug kits and let the kids grow those. And get this: I've looked all summer for ants to use in the ant farms we got. I saw one the other day, but the kids would not follow it and find its home, and I had a flying one land on my at the air show yesterday (but of course there was no way to capture it while standing on the tarmac at an air show!)

Yep - we went to an air show yesterday. We had a lot of fun, but boy people are rude. I had more adults shove their way in front of the kids. And I was totally not quiet about it either. On the other hand, I must have offered to 20 kids that they could stand in front of DH and I so that they could see. Most of the parents were very grateful, but you had a few..... I took so many pictures I totally filled one card. Don't know the total yet, but I know it's well over 500. I've never filled the card before. Well, I'm off to go pull them from the camera and see what I really got.
Hugs!

But you know what we realized last night? Her mother STOLE the 1200.00 scholarship money that our high school awarded to C. STOLE HER KIDS SCHOLARSHIP MONEY RIGHT FROM C's BANK ACCOUNT!!!!!! WHO does that!!!
But whatever, she's under my roof now... and I will see to it that she gets her dorm essentials..... her mother can stick it! She got almost her entire first year being paid for with GRANTS! Yay! I want so much for her to do well... and to not be on welfare like she has been raised on. I want her to be able to stand on her own two feet! I hope that DD will be able to help her with this!

I hope when it's her time to answer up, that she is slapped across the face for being so gosh dang PATHETIC!! I knew she was scum... but this is a new low for her, I think. BFF called her mom and asked her "what happend to my scholarship money?". Her mother had the NERVE to say "I figured you didn't need it anymore since Kaylin's parents are taking care of everything. I used it to buy a new laptop for me and your brother". WHAT!!!!! I'm taking care of her essentials... her daily needs.... roof, clothing, food, etc.... I'm NOT paying for her COLLEGE! I'm paying for her dorm essentials.... where in the book does that mean COLLEGE DORM AND TUITION?!! Oh how I hate that woman.....

>>aruaL<<
08-03-2010, 08:38 AM
Ohh Christine, I"ll toss in my towels that need folding into your pile... you may not notice and get them folded for me! hehe

I don't think the cops can do anything because her mother technically didn't STEAL it.... she's on the bank account, because it was opened when C was just 16 so she had to have a parent on there. She turned 18 recently and just never even thought to remove her mom, just didn't cross her mind... until last night when this happend. She can most likely take her to small claims court though. We have proof of what was in the account before the scholarship money was deposited... the BEFORE amount was less than 200 bucks... so the money withdrawn is OBVIOUSLY scholarship money and would be easy to prove. Also have proof of where the 1200 came from... so her mother can't try and say something stupid like "I loaned her the money" or something like that. All of her scholarship money came in, and I drove her to the bank to deposit it. It was all put into the account in a lump sum on the same day. And it was REMOVED all at once as well... she took out the 1200 plus another 60.00. So she kicked her kid out and left her with less than 200 bucks to her name. What an awesome mom!

I think today on our way outta town we'll stop by the courthouse and check into doing a small claims action. Problem is, her mother doesn't have anything to her name so C will NEVER see the 1200 again. Never. I wonder if she is suppose to report that 1200 to welfare...surely welfare would want to know that she had 1200 to her name this past month and was able to buy laptops..... hmmmmmm!

Laura - it's pitiful what some people will do. One of the knitter's group I go to has a son in Afghanistan. While away, he put her on his account so she could handle any bills, etc... that came up. So, what does she do to the son that she nearly cries about every week when we are together - steals $3000 from his account to pay her credit card bill. I came very close to physical violence with that one! Some of our group is contemplating moving to a new location (and not telling the others where we've gone!)

Chris - I'm in the same boat as you, although no scouts. Instead I have a full day of school with the kids (was supposed to be 1/2 day but they dilly dallied again this morning) and 3 full baskets of laundry I barely got washed and still needs to be folded. Oh, and if I don't go to the grocery we won't have lunch tomorrow (unless the eat more cereal ).

Now I can order CS5 (Im back to CS4 right now cause my trial for CS5 ran out..shucks!) and get it installed on my snow leopard... and HOPEFULLY it won't crash alll the dang time like it did on my Leopard. You just click once on the file, then slowly click on it again (not fast double click) and the file name will be highlighted in light blue and then you rename it.

yes, keep your bought or freebie fonts separte - however you do that..

I keep mine in a folder in the documents folder (called Extra fonts)

along with other extras for photoshop
like Actions, styles, etc..

then I move them into (my user name)> Library > fonts

which puts them into font book...

either way gets them there

NO matter what - don't move them DIRECTLY into font book, you need to keep system fonts some how separated from your freebie and bought fonts.

Also, Heather

when you go into font book

you should validate your fonts

and, check for duplicates

just go into your applications folder

start Font book

Go to Edit > Select All

Edit Resolve Duplicates

Go Back toi Edit > Select All

Go to File - Validate Fonts

you will get a window of all of your fonts

Green is good
yellow - warning
RED - BAD - DELETE - now!

there are about 23 or so dsp fonts that (THAT ARE YELLOW) I have notified dsp about - and, they are really ok.. leave those.. all new fonts, from DSP have been fine!

The rest of your fonts in the yellow category - you decide...

In preferences - check Validate fonts before installing

you should be good to go.

What is the purpose of validating fonts? I'm confused.

The purpose of Validating fonts is:

BAD fonts make your system crash...

so, you don't want them...

if for example you loaded a BAD, BAD font

if you simply BRING up the type tool in CS, CS will crash

you don't have to use BAD BAD font

only BRING UP THE TYPE TOOL, and try and use a good font.

and, CS will CRASH...

or Could crash, depending on how bad, the bad font is

Darn - my head is simply not working correctly. I had to have DH come home for lunch because I got so dizzy I couldn't stand to feed the kids. Drank 3 glasses of water and ate soup and now I'm not dizzy I'm just blonde!

I meant to say: turns out the guy holding that lens may be a friend of Kristie's (at least she thought it was him). If it's the same guy, he's in her photography group. She was totally laughing!

I did get a LO done today, but don't have time to upload until Sunday probably. We are going to Disneyland tomorrow and then the beach all day on Sat. Company is so fun!

Hey all just popping in. Just got home from the reception....man it's all so surreal. I keep thinking "did my little sister REALLY just get married?" Got through my toast...not without a lot of tears, but got through it none-the-less. The pictures seemed neverending after the ceremony....and I can not WAIT to scrap them. We were at a local park at one point and all these kids were staring at us getting our pictures done, so one of the groomsmen yelled for all of them to get in a picture....so my sister has a picture of all the wedding party with about 30-40 random kids from Binghamton. LOL We were joking that it should be used as a local park ad.

Well, I need some sleep right now, but I just wanted to check in. I should be around more starting next week when all the family is back to their hometowns. :D Hope everyone's doing well!!!

Im awake... barely...but Im awake.

Was up til 2:35am... talking with DD. She had a total meltdown. I knew something was coming, but did't know when or why. She's scared... she's scared to death of going to college... AND she and her boyfriend had their first disagreement yesterday. Im not worried about the boyfriend, he's a nice boy BUT I prefer he just quietly go away. I can't put my finger on any ONE thing, and the things I can, they aren't major... just... eh.. I don't know... just me being a mom I guess.. but I am not worried about their disagreement, I'm so excited that DD said what she said to him. Im proud of her. If he doesn't like it, he can gladly take a hike, I'm okay with that... DD will be heartbroken, but she'll get over it. She's beautiful, bright and strong.... she don't need to worry about that stuff, she'll eventually find another boy she likes, just as much.. or even more. Is it mean of me to say that Im secretly hoping they break up? Ha! Yes, it's mean. I know it is. I don't want her to be sad, but I also know it will be better for her. I know it will be!

As for college.... she's just scared of every bit of it... making new friends, doing well in school, living on her own (well in the dorm, but you know what she means..), etc.
My poor baby girl is SCARED OUT OF HER MIND!!!! And so now, Im wondering if maybe we should find a new route for her to take for the next couple years....maybe I should encourage her to stay home and go to community college... or maybe this is all normal feelings and she'll get over it all quickly? I don't know if this is all normal or if its because she's a newly 17yo? She normally makes friends VERY easily... she's extremely funny and very kind, so people like being around her. But, she's scared they won't be her friend at college, because of her age. I think she's wrong... many of them are only 18 and 19, surely a year or two in age won't matter to them.

Ahhhh... it's hard watching your kiddo be so sad :-(

She does have her first JOB now.... she was suppose to start 3 weeks ago, but they stink and are just starting her TODAY! She's excited about that!! She'll still work there when she comes home, on weekends.... if she can handle both school AND work, if not, she'll quit. School is priority.

Ive rambled, Im sorry!!
