Rene - I'm with Crys, you could have fooled me with that pic.

Dorene so good to have you popping in!

Rene I was trying to figure out who that even was. LOL Did I ever tell you I am not that great at identifying movie stars, singers etc. Once you said though I was like oh yeah :)

Lisa and Dorene and anyone who might be needing a green/brown boy scout shirt. I went into the scout shop the other day and found out that the ladies scout shirts were EXACTLY the same as the boys' shirts but the buttons were on the opposite side. Because the chest pockets were the bulky style and apparently women did like bulky pockets on their chests, they have redesigned them to have flat pockets, so what? you say? WELLLLLLLL, they have put the old ones on clearance for FIVE BUCKS!! As I said the old ones are exactly the same as the boys' shirts, except the buttons and who cares about the buttons. So I got me one cuz I am a leader and got ds1 one cuz he will be in weblos before too long and can wear it then and when he is a boy scout. Compared to the $39 they want for the boys' shirts, I am thinking $5 is a pretty dang good deal!

Why Carolyn is back in the house, hello to you!

And, Rene, exactly who is Captain jack? Since we now know the Hulk is not real? Who all lives in Rene's fantasy land???

And, my bouncing baby - ok teenage boy gets dropped off by the stork on October 9th..
So, the cycle of life continues... we become parents again... We have to wait until his "&*UO" Father gets health insurance for him, and some medications, and, some say other necessary things of life... before we move him in with us.. All things his father SHOULD have done for him a long time ago.. My husband just pressed the issue - since we can't afford to pay these prices...

So, we become parent's again.. our lives we change - but I think for the better - this kid needs love - and, that's one thing we can give him, plenty of love.. oh my DGS name is Kyle.. so, when you hear me talk about Kyle.. that is my DGS.. ... can't wait to start taking photos of him - they never did..

hey everyone! so glad to have you all back!

Hi Lori, so glad you found your way over, funny about Laura thinking you had black curly hair, I always thought it was long and straight, but blond. hmmmmm wonder where we come up with these things.

I am so excited, a few weeks ago I finally went through and got about 60 LOs that I had all done ready to print and sent them to Costco, picked them up etc. Well because these are my older LOs they are 8.5 x 11 which means that I put 2 of them on a 12x18 sheet and printed them, so I had to cut them apart. Took forever to cut them a little here and a little there, then they were sitting on my desk in a pile waiting to go in the books. Well this morning I did it! All of them are now living in their happy little books. I can't even tell you how behind I am, but at least that part is done. I am still organizing cuz I am sure I have more ready that I just need to get on the 12x18s etc, but a little bit at a time. I also really need to go through my gallery because I lost about 100 LOs when my EHD crashed a year or two ago. So I need to figure out which ones made it to print and which ones didn't...do I want to rework them or start over etc etc. Once I get caught up through 2006 (yes I know...hush) then I will do 2007 and on 12x12 and actually print them in a book. Again I have lots of those pages done, but they need organization too. Getting depressed now, sooooooo I must say again..........yay! my stack of LOs is cut and in their books. :D

Ok, so the boys are in Wolves now, so how many years before they are Weblos? Too far ahead might make the sizes iffy, but for that price......... Help, should I say pick up 2 at some size and tell you I will pay the price plus shipping?

Wolves, Bears, Weblos so the Weblos are the 10 year olds. Do you not have a scout shop by you? I got the impression this was a scout wide thing, so you might be able to get the same deal at the local scout shop. I am happy to get them for you or since you don't need them right now, Kristie has family down here, I could hold onto them until she heads this way. As far as sizes I went BIG, my goal is to have the same shirt all the way to Eagle. LOL I had one of Lexi's teammates, try on the one I got for Zach and he is 15 and it fit fine. I got a medium for me and a large for him. I figure if I get released he can always wear the medium to begin with, plus we have Josh coming up too, so I probably will need 2 of those shirts for at least some of the time.

Oh, OH, I wish I could come to Utah!!!!

But, I have to be a mommy again.. and, it's way too soon in getting Kyle into the family to leave him..

darn..

I think a lot of things - no rephrase - I KNOW a lot of things are going to be changing in my lifestyle with Kyle living with us - ESPECIALLY since we live in a retirement area - no kids his age around us..

But, The Lord has a way of always working - we just found out about 2 months ago or so - that Keith's niece and, her son - who is just about Kyle's age moved to our area - and they are only 15 minutes from our home.

It was a total accident (a happy accident) that we found out.. and, we have already got together with them 3 times - had already planned to do Thanksgiving and Christmas with them..

Well, now Thanksgiving and Christmas will be sooo much more special..

So, Kyle will have a (guess it would be 2nd cousin) Jerod - who lives about 15 minutes from us - and they both have similar interests.. music.. and, both want to go into the music business... so, they should have something to talk about..

I just give praise to the LORD each day as HE brings the Joy of our niece into our lives - as she is such a beautiful person - inside and outside.. and, her children, and now Kyle.. as he has always been the joy of our lives from the second his tiny hand wrapped around our fingers.. ..

And, now.. I know why he brought them here and how we happened to just find out they were so close to us.. - to maybe just maybe help us just a little with our grandson Kyle..

I almost cried yesterday, I was talking to Kyle about what paperwork he needed to bring with him..

And, I asked what he liked to eat - he said I'm not a picky eater Grandma - anything you make will be perfect - I said if you don't tell me - I'll just make you a whole plate of steamed broccoli - and, he said, if I can be with you - I'd eat steamed broccoli every nite.. I just want to be with you and grandpa.. I said no really give me some hints.. he said no really - anything..

He just doesn't want to ask us to do anything special for him.. he just wants to be with us.. and just kept telling us how much he loved us.. (tears here)...

Kevin is doing boy scouts now! He joined a few weeks ago. He use to do cubs or whatever its called, but he hated it... cause the people in charge had no control or organization and the kids in the group were.... well, to put it bluntly, they were brats!

But he's loving scouts, lots of his friends are in scouts and they FINALLY convinced him to join them.

I second that!!
My three boys are really close with their grandparents also. My oldest even moved in with them when his grandfather was in the hospital 2 years ago to help them out. He has stayed while he is in college, he helps them, and they are helping him. I feel blessed to have them so close (in distance and in heart).

Ohh thats wonderful! Such a win-win situation, how lucky he is to be able to become even closer to his grandparents! My daughter was going to attend UC of Irvine and live with my parents...but then, my "little" brother moved back home and he causes the house to be full of chaos... and not the good kind, it's lots of stress there with him living there. So DD decided she didn't want to deal with that everyday (even though she's close to my brother, she sees his faults... and doesn't want to be a part of it..lol). Bummer, woulda been great for my parents as she's veryyyyyyyyyyy close to them and it woulda been great for my checking account too! LOL!!!

I figure if I get released he can always wear the medium to begin with, plus we have Josh coming up too, so I probably will need 2 of those shirts for at least some of the time.

hmmmm... will have to have DH stop and check, but I will bet that even if they are on sale, it won't be that cheap.

Hi Ladies! I have internet again!!! :yahoo::yahoo: 6 days was a bit much, so glad to be home so I can have it back.

We had a good time, but there wasn't enough time to do everything. We got home last night and I woke up this morning to my kitchen covered in ants.:eek::eek: I have been vacuuming them up, clorox wiping everything and sprayed stuff outside, but I don't like using that in the house. Now, it's an ant here and there, but not the line like this morning. Any ideas how to get rid of these dumb little guys?

Heather - find where they are coming in and saturate that one spot with cinnamon! If you manage to pour some directly on an ant, it makes a great science experiment, because they immediately shrival and die. Totally harmless to family and pets, but deadly for the little buggers.

OK, my turn to ask for help. Our teacher gave me an iPod touch this morning. It's a gift for doing some work for her (which will be a breeze for me, I think). Any way, I'm trying to figure out how to sync to my calendar and can't find the info. Seems the thing does not have menus, so how to I sync to other than iTunes?

idtwinmom
09-30-2010, 05:23 PM
Never mind, I found it! Had to really search because it's not on the iPod, but within iTunes that it is controlled. Now I just have to get the pass code for our WiFi and I will be in business.

oh well see that is part of it. Around here, the boys get the shirt, belt and patches. No special pants, no special socks, no fancy cover for their book.

That is my biggest complaint about Scouts. I truly do think it is great for the boys, but the prices of lots of that stuff are outrageous! And everything is special just for them. Heaven forbid you buy embroidered numbers from the sewing/craft shop for half the price or less. nooooooooooooooooo the colors aren't quite the same, so that would never do. Maybe I just don't see where the money goes, but I don't really see how it helps the boys. Plus all of the patches, pins, belt loops, etc etc. They are a huge investment too. Our ward pays for the awards and it seriously eats up so much of the primary budget.

Yes. And serious matters too. Not lame boring things like borrowing without asking... that stuff is petty (albeit annoying.....) ... we are talking about serious serious matters!!

My daughter is going to see about changing rooms. Normally you have to wait until the next registration period, but because she's under 18, they make exceptions whenever possible for the "kids". At this point, if the 'bestfriend' keeps going at this pace, she'll be kicked out, and then we wont have to worry about any of it.

because a Bejewelled game lasts one minute. (don't ask how many in a row I play though. please.)

I am SO addicted to Bejeweled...but I don't play on facebook. I just play on my ipad, so I am not against the clock. I LOVE it.

hey everyone. oh I am so tempted to go do bejeweled, I use to play it all the time, but dang it wastes so much time that I do NOT have. I got pretty good at it, in fact one time specifically I remember playing sooooo long on one game that I got way bored and kept hoping I would lose, but couldn't make myself stop.

awww, c'mon Debi! You may as well tell me because if you don't, Sandy will :D

She's so funny..... she thinks I got a high score cos I watched a replay of Lisa's game! I don't even have a clue how I managed to get such a high score... i was just plugging away and managed to get a lot of cube gems and those ones you get when you create a T or L.... and Wallah!!! 514700 was hit. Its luck of the draw I guess cos I've spend DAYS trying to get a decent score, and I mean literally days!!!

I have a piece of advice for anyone who hasn't learned this lesson as yet.... and now that I have learned it, FIRST HAND, I feel like I want the world to know this AHEAD OF TIME! People told me this soooo much this past year...but I blew them off.... and NOW I *know* WHY they kept telling me this!!

Do not ever ever ever... no matter how much you wanna.... ever ever ever allow your teenager to be ROOMMATES with their "best friend". NEVER! DO NOT DO IT!!! It is by FAR the WORST idea EVER!!!!!!

Do not ever say you were not warned. LOL!!!

:-)

Oh No Laura.... I hope she can get things sorted out so that she can settle!

So, today I have learned not to let my children room with their besties in college (wonder how you can convince them not to if their minds are made up -- still 10 years away) and that I should not befriend sands on fb 'cause she will push my bejeweled score lower yet :).
I do not know about replay and I have NO clue how certain people can consistently have scores as high as the moon.

Laura, I hope everything works out getting your daughter's room changed.

I've used 300,000 trying to beat you... I'm an addict ok... I'm begging for points

my husband got another million point spin yesterday - that's his 3rd one.. .how does he do it.. I think bejeweled feels sorry for him.. and, i'm his only FB friend playing - he does share with me - but it only gives me 5ooo of those stupid million points.. darn it..

I think you should be able to transfer to your spouse - we live in a community property state - what's his is MINE! right?

i must have his points.. I must.. I just have to figure out a way to steal his points

or anyone's points.. but I refuse to buy points with my credit card.. but i'm getting desperate for points..

300,000 points wasted this week, AFTER i got 442,000...

We went to a wedding yesterday... the son of my very best friend. My two children received a front row seat to why it's stupid to excessively drink. Reception ended nearly 3 hours early, with the arrival of paramedics.

Oh, and the vows were the absolute shortest I've ever seen in my life. Even Vegas vows/weddings are longer than this one was. The minister doing the wedding went blank apparently, it was only his second wedding, and he totally skipped everything in the vows. The only part he did was the "do you take XX to be your wife/husband". they said "i do" he said "you may kiss the bride". They were up there for less than 2 minutes and I am absolutely NOT joking. I was horrified for them. He forgot all the "repeat after me" stuff... well, he forgot nearly everything!!

Ah, the ants are a NIGHTMARE here. Apparently, our city is built on an ant hill and not matter what we do, the next morning they find another way in. Everyone has told us to just get a exterminator and I'm almost ready. Seriously, I've never seen this many ants in all my life put together. :(

We watched conference all weekend also and had company because unlike UT, where it's on a local channel, not here so not everyone gets it. So I had to keep the house clean all weekend and fix extra food, but we had fun!

I'm so excited :yahoo: I'm leaving for Orlando in 2 days. I haven't seen my friend, that I'm going with, in 8 months. No kids, just me, they can all live with the ants here for a few days  and I get to play!

Laura, that is pretty crappy about the wedding. I hope they aren't too upset about it and just realize there isn't a lot that can be done now.

yeah you get pretty spoiled here, having conference readily available. So I was thinking, is it live elsewhere, ie not the standard 10-12 and 2-4? or do they tape delay it or something. Wonder what they do in China or something.

woot woot you know it girl! :D

so today I was FREAKING OUT! Yesterday I took Lexi to take some portraits, which btw I need to post cuz some of them are quite awesome if I do say so myself. LOL ANNNNNYYYYWAYYYY

I got home and start looking at them and there is this teeeeeny horizontal line on EVERY picture after a certain photo. I can easily fix it in PS but why, why why is there a line there. I swapped out 3 lenses at home, shot, shot everyone had the line. Finally went to bed cuz I had to be up in 6 hours but I was way upset. So today I took out lens, card, and battery, replaced them, tried a different battery, took it to a camera shop, they looked at it, couldn't see any dirt, hairs whatever on the sensor, reset the camera, updated the firmware and NONE of it worked.....totally freaking out by this point. The guy was SUPER nice and didn't charge me a cent and told me that he thought my sensor was going bad. They don't do repairs so I know he wasn't just trying to get my money and in fact told me straight out that cleaning it (which they DO do) would be a waste, that wasn't going to fix it.

Called Nikon, they had me reset the camera in the menu and then push and hold the 2 green dot buttons on top until it flashed and it WORKED! At least, so far, I can't see the line. tried w/ flash, w/o flash, rapid fire, auto, manual and 2 different lenses. YAY!

Are you serious?!! I can't believe that! Especially since she begged and pleaded. Well if I get my rear in gear, maybe I can get mine ones of Lex posted before then and they might help give you ideas. I took almost 400 shots, got that down to 120 after getting rid of blinkers, duplicate shots etc. I swear that girl blinks a LOT, so I just hold down the rapid fire and shoot off several at once. LOL The wind picked up and was blowing soooo hard, I have a couple of fun ones where her hair is just all wild. I told her I am going to try to pick out the best 30 or 40, but I don't know how I am going to manage that. Somehow though I don't think I will be scrapping 120 pics all taken on the same day of the same child. ;)

Yeah, it was kind of embarrassing that she chose the other photo. And hurt my feelings. I spent hours and hours working on those photos. Oh well, what do you do? Oh and another thing that happened: while I was at Adobe, apparently Lindsey's mom texted Gary to see if he would bring her a check to pay for Lindsey's wedding shoes that she wanted to get when she picked up her dress from the bridal shop after it was altered. Seriously? You can't write a check for $60 for shoes? Gary told her no, that I handle the money. :D:D

Mostly they are caused by stress and lack of sleep, which is not good since I suffer from serious insomnia, and I only slept about 2 hours the whole time I was in California, so I knew it was coming when I got back. Rene - glad you are feeling better! I've had some pretty bad headaches in the last few years, but none of them compares to a true migraine (I've had friends who had them). I really feel for anyone who suffers that way. You will do great on the photos too! (Remember on the photos that weren't chosen, there may have been some influence from her mother too.)

Chris - sure hope that your camera stays fixed. What a bummer to have the sensor go bad, especially since the camera isn't even that old.

Not much new here. Just trying to keep up with school, chores, find as many good educational podcasts as possible, etc..., etc..., etc....

I don't know if it's worth it or not. After she had begged me to do the photos, I read on Facebook that her friend was coming to take some photos of them the weekend before I was supposed, so I talked to Gary about it. He asked her about it and she said that her friend had gotten a new camera and was wanting to play with it, but that the photos I took were going to be the "official" engagement photos. Then later I got a message from her about the cost of the engagement announcements, but she never sent me the proof to look at. I had to ask her several times to send it to me so I could see it, so when she did, that's when I saw that she chose her friend's photo. I mean it's an OK photo, but looks more like a snapshot to me, straight out of the camera.

so what did Gary say about the whole thing?

He said he would talk to her if I wanted him to, but I told him no. I think my biggest problem with saying anything about stuff like this is that I'm afraid they'll tell their mom that I'm upset and she would get too much satisfaction out of that and then I would be even more embarrassed! KWIM?

Dang it took me forever today to get my kit in the store. It was like do a little packaging, go get kids, do a little more, do scouts, do a bit more, get dinner organized, finally get it in, go to the play. I still have an alpha and another kit, to get in the store, but I doubt it will happen tonight, as I am so tired.

The play was awesome though. The show was the Drowsy Chaperon. Anybody else seen that before? I hadn't ever heard of it, but it was quite funny and very entertaining. The theater we go to is "theater in the round" so the stage is quite small and there are only 9 rows, so sometimes they adapt the original to fit the constraints of the theater. I am not sure if this was the same way the story goes normally. Our's was a musical theater production, within a play about a guy that loves said production. If anybody else has seen it, is this the same? At any rate they did a super job. A couple of shows ago, our friends went with us and it was so funny. They are used to going to plays at the Capitol Theater, which is a traditional stage, huge auditorium kind of thing. Art brought his binoculars cuz he is used to being way far away from the stage etc. I was kinda looking at him thinking why do you need those? I think he was on the 4th row. LOL

No I've never heard of that! Sounds fun though! I love musicals. We have Fiddler on the Roof later this month for our first show of the season. I've never seen that, so I think it will be fun.
