Hi Christine, I am feeling abit better... drugs helped and even though I didn't have my surgery yet, I'm doing better. I have put a hold, sorta, on things... once I got my test results all back.... because I H.A.T.E. my doctor!.!.!. Like a lot. She is arrogant, rude, condescending, AWFUL bedside manners, has a MASSIVE LACK of patience for her patients, and has ZERO time to explain anything - I'm sorry but "take these pills Im going to prescribe for 20 days, twice a day" with ZERO explanation of WHAT the pills are or the purpose of them, and then rudely says "don't worry about it, you want to be better or no?" when I NICELY asked her "what is the purpose of these pills, compared to the other medication you already have me on?". JERK. I hate her. So I have visited my primary doctor over at the military base and he agrees, she's a jerk... so he's put in a new authorization request for me to be allowed to see a new, NICE, doctor... hahhaha.
I think Laura is fine...

You know, debilou, (and yes I do know that you know, just hard to remember) it takes a long time to *re-arrange* someone, no matter how much you love them, nor how much they basically appreciate what you're doing for them. Learned behaviors (like those of self-preservation) are difficult to un-learn. Patience and a lot of counting to 10. or 20. or 50. or whatever number it takes. You know there is a special place in Heaven just for you and Keith.
And, now, you've sure earned yourself in the top 5! :D

I wrote out my to do list today, but scrapping wasn't on it. :( But guess what I did today... I scrapped anyway!! I will work on the list tomorrow. Then, Monday, I hope the weather will be good enough for me to take the boys to see my grandparents. They met Sebastian when he was about 4 months old and we havent seen them since. Definitely overdue!! Then I hope to come home Tueday, pack again Wednesday then off to Yellowknife Thursday! Now that I write all that out I'm really glad I'm pretty much done shopping!
Anyone else have big plans for the week?

Good morning everyone! So good of Shana to drop in to see us. How did the nutcracker go, Debi? I am pretty much all shopped, wrapped, decorated etc :D wahoo! I have to get some gummy bears for ds2 as they are on his gift list and I thought it was cute  Also need to go get some flies for dh. Hope I get the right ones. Of course, one time many years ago, we had gone w/ his cousin up to Montana to fish and the two of them were asking all of the experts which lures were working better etc and I found this red one that I really liked, they laughed and rolled their eyes cuz it was not what the experts were saying but bought two of them just to pacify me. I could NOT keep the german browns off my pole. Throw it in, BAM! Throw it in, BAM! Then it was a fight to see who could get the 2nd one cuz I was NOT giving up mine.

Sounds like everyone is busy. I have two more days of teaching, and then a frenzy of last minute shopping/wrapping.
The Choir Cantata was today. It was rather nice to not be singing it for a change :) The girls were interested because their violin teacher was playing in it (as well and Grandpa).
After lunch, I am doing cut out cookies with the girls and laundry, laundry, laundry :)

Hi girls!!! I always have all my Christmas shopping finished weeks before Christmas partly because I hate the crowds when it gets too close. Well, Drew called me today and begged me to help him pick out some gifts for Amy's parents and brother. So there we were at the mall on the last weekend before Christmas!!! :help::help::help: But we were able to find some things he was happy with, so I guess it was a successful mission.
Lindsey is coming over tonight to watch Father of the Bride with her dad.:rofl: I think she thinks he's like Steve Martin's character in the movie.

One year, on Christmas Eve, we were on our way to my brother's to celebrate and needed to pick up one more thing. At the time, he lived relatively close to a very huge and popular mall. DH liked to have died at the magnitude of the crowds and vowed NEVER again to be in the position of having to venture out at the last minute.
All my Christmas gifts are usually purchased in November, as that is when a good friend and I do are annual shopping trip. There's always some last minute little things, but can be purchased at the local Wal*Mart. Not too daunting of a task! :D

Well, 4 of us went to the nutcraker suite ballet, what an elegant affair.. my 86 year old dear neighbor, my niece and her 19 year old daughter..
Oh what a classy place to be.. except that my neighbor.. who was raised in High Society and knows exactly how to act at these affairs.. decided to be a bad girl.. and, knew at her age she could get away with it..
Last year, she fell in love with the male ballet dancer the - ballerino! She nicknamed him Elvis - and focused my opera glasses only on him.. Well, this year she was ready for him.. she would only clap when he danced solo - not for the prima ballerina - just for Elvis.. (oh she clapped for other parts of the show.. - but the the main ballet part - she only wanted Elvis!).. So, the final part.. The prima ballerina makes a flying overhead leap, then he catches her and she flips upside down until her finger tips barely touch the ground.. fantastic catch.. such trust..
My neighbor yells out.. DROP HER... - and of course the music dies down. so her voice carries..
Then they come out for there final curtain call, the prima ballerina gets her bouquet of roses..
My neighbor yells out.. hey, I sent Elvis roses.. where are his flowers.. darn it.. this happened last year too.. what's up with that..
My niece and her daughter didn't know what to do.. I just laughed.. hey at 86 - you can just say anything you want and get away with it..
Oh, and I could go on with all that happened.. but, hey.. it's just more of the same.. oh, like she tried to steal one of the nutcrackers in the lost and found..
When She got home, I got her cane, I said ok, where can I beat you where it won't show.. she laughed.. haha you wouldn't i know.. and, she's absolutely right.
And, I'd take her again next year in a heart beat.. she made me laugh so hard.. and, I'll remember this day forever.. I think my niece will too, but maybe not in a good way
never go with Aunt Debi anywhere again...

I have a fabulous recipe for peppermint bark. It is sooooooo easy. Made it for the first time last year and everyone loved it. dd1 even made a couple of batches then divvied it up for her friends' gifts this year and last.
Everyone be careful out there in those mobs of crowds. We are heading home in a few hours, hopefully the roads will be good. That reminds me I better go check the weather report. Catch you all later!

Oh, can you send me the recipe Gundi - that is for peppermint bark (not the gummy bears..).. that would be wonderful...
Let's see, I think I can remember it off the top of my head:
12 oz semi sweet choc chips
16 oz white chocolate chips, make sure it says white chocolate, not just the white whatever the other stuff is. I always get the kroger brand ones around here
1/2 tsp peppermint extract
2-3 candy canes, smashed
put aluminum foil on a 9x13 pan or a cookie sheet. Spread out the semi sweet chips and bake in preheated 250 degree oven for about 5 min. The chips should be melt-y but they are still sorta formed. Take it out and spread it so it is a flat layer. Completely cool
melt white chocolate in a double boiler, stir constantly, once they are all melted and smooth, remove from heat, stir in extract. Let it cool down a bit, then spread out on the hardened semi sweet chocolate. Sprinkle the smashed candy canes on top Ta duh! Told you it was easy!

Well, I was going to make it for my DH's HS bowling team - He's the coach ok - he's not in high school..

i'm evil he said.. ok, you pay my gigantica food bill, and he does not need chocolate.. he has acne and ADHD... small doses fine, but he can't tell himself when to stop..
One nite he ate the entire Costco size can of Mixed nuts (the one with out peanuts) in one nite.. that was for Keith's poker group.. I made him look at the number of servings, the amount of fat, the amount of salt, the number of calories.. he just said ok, no problem he was hungry.. well, now we have a KYLE CANT EAT this Area in the pantry... sad but true.. call me mean..
My mother used to have a drawer of *goodies* that was off limits to us kids. (And at a very accessibly level! :D) You're not mean; you're being reasonable, I think. Everyone should learn that there's limits and this is just one of them!

Well, I was going to make it for my DH's HS bowling team - He's the coach ok - he's not in high school..
and, we were passing by the store, I told him that would be easy to make, and, there are only a few ingredients, I remembered 3 of them.. and, knew there were more but, hmm, which one(s) did I miss.. Candy canes.. So, we'll go back today.. and, get the all of the ingredients.. since some young man in my house has a sweet tooth and eats anything chocolate in the house.. I know have an area in the pantry marked "NOT FOR KYLE". He asked how much if he took anything out of that part of the pantry - I told him $200 for any single item - no discounts for multiple items.. hehe..

I used to have to hide stuff from Drew when he lived here. He would eat whole boxes of crackers or whole bags of chips at one time. :)

Guess I'd better get my tablet workign for me...
Got home this afternoon after a loooong drive with a broken window. Just an hour into the 5 hour drive home, I passed a semi and he shot a rock back at me, breaking the little triangular window in front of the driver's window. Stupid thing will cost over $300 to replace!! And it made a little hole and it was very loud with the sound of the air rushing past. Grrrrr.

I had an eventful night! I realized last night about 1am that I didn't remember getting my allergy med out of the car after going to the grocery store yesterday morning, so I went to look for it in the car. Couldn't find it, but heard some hissing/spewing noise coming from the closet in the garage where the hot water heater is. Then I smelled gas, so I called the emergency # for the gas company. Gary is working in Amarillo all this week again. Anyway the lady told me to not turn any electric devices on or off, to not open any doors unnecessarily, and to get out of the house, but not to go in the car. So now I'm starting to freak out, but I put my coat and gloves on and went out in the front yard because she said someone would be there "as soon as possible". We 45 minutes later, I am FREEZING in the 36 degree weather, so I went back inside and called again. Anyway, it was another hour before the guy came, but by this time the spewing noise had stoppd. He said he smelled some kind of "gas mixture" but it wasn't natural gas and his detector thingie wasn't detecting any natural gas. So after checking everything he left and I finally got in bed at 4:30, but I was still so cold I couldn't sleep! :(

Not sure what caused the problem. Not really sure there was a problem. I have no idea why the pipes were hissing. The gas guy thought maybe some fumes from the garage were what I was smelling in the house, but I know it wasn't a gasoline smell, it was natural gas I was smelling. I know the difference. Well if you are like me when I hid presents a few years ago, it's in a box in the top of the closet in your office, but the box is marked with something that leads you to think that whatever the box says is actually in the box, only it's not, the present is, and you won't actually find the present for 2 more years when the child you bought it for is older and it's no longer appropriate so you donate it to charity. How's that for a long sentence?

I had a productive day, although not as fun as yours Chris. I cleaned the house, did some laundry, took the dogs to be groomed, printed some layouts, and am now about to make desserts for tomorrow evenings dinner at my DMIL's.
Guess what I let my hubby talk me into? Joining a bowling league with him! I am a HORRIBLE bowler. I've only been twice in the last 10 years, and both of those times were in the last month! I kept trying to tell him he didn't want me on his team, but he kept insisting! But on the bright side, the bowling alley has THE BEST hamburgers I have ever eaten! AND since I have to have my own ball, I ordered a fabulous hot pink with swirls of black in it! And my bag is hot pink and black!:rofl:

And, Always look your best.. Bowling is a fashionable sport.
Oh, one more hint. Let go of the ball - some people well, haven't done so when they were supposed to.. well, let's say bowling alley lanes are slick..
let go..
Oh, BTW my DH is a certified Bowling instructor, - he gives lessons private or for groups at our local bowling alley. (he also volunteers a lot - like he is the HS Bowling coach for a local team, and he helps out with youth and handicapped children).
so, if you need a lesson or two.. you know where to find a qualified/certified instructor.
Oh, and, since he teaches children - he had to had his background checked out too. so, you'd be safe..

I didn't see the special, was it in the Tabernacle or the Conference center? The Tabernacle is the place with the elliptical domed building. Remember we saw it just as we came onto temple square before we went over to where the Seagull fountain was. The Conference Center is just across the street to the North of Temple Square. We went East of Temple Square when we were by the reflecting pond. So I know you didn't go into either building w/ me, but you might have when you came last time. Seems like a bunch of people went to a performance of Music and the Spoken Word with the Tab Choir and that would have been in the Tab.

Merry Christmas all!!!!
The other thing to remember Rene - is let go at the right time. Letting go when the ball is traveling backwards can be just as damaging (to your pride as well as to devices and people on your back side) as not letting go at all!
I can't believe how long it has been since I popped in here. Just been sooooo busy. DD has been sick 4 times in the last 6 weeks, including one trip to ER for a temp that had hit 104 and was still rising. Just about the time I think I have her better, she comes down with it again. And this last week all 3 have been sick. Of course, we even spent half the night up with the boys while they hung over the toilet. I felt sooooo sorry for them. Funny thing is, they are fine all day, even eat pretty regular meals, then as soon as they go to bed it starts.
Miss you all!!!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!!
Lisa, so sorry your children have been sick.
We had the kids here yesterday and opened presents, then over to my DMIL's for dinner and Chinese Christmas exchange. Today the girls are with their mother and Drew has gone with Amy to visit her family, so Gary and I made chicken and dumplings from scratch in the pressure cooker (our first time)!!! Then this afternoon we go to see The Tourist!
The bad news is I woke up this morning to a dead iMac! It won't even turn on! So I guess I'll have to send it off to be fixed, but Gary bought a 3 year warranty on it when he bought it, so it should be covered! And all my files are backed up on Carbonite, so I'm safe there! It will just be inconvenient until I get it back, but at least I haven't lost anything!

Rene - unplug it for about 20 seconds and try again. A friend of mine had that problem and that is what the Apple call center told her to do. It worked and she hasn't had another problem with it since.
Can I come for Chicken and Dumplings? I used to make them in my microwave pressure cooker (until an ex's kids stole it that is). They are really good made that way.
Merry Christmas Gundi Girls (and Gundi).

Absolutely! So I have never heard of Yellowknife. Must be far north with getting dark so early etc. I am assuming it is part of Canada. Are you there for Christmas? Family? Friends? Hope you are having fun!
Yellowknife is the capital of the Northwest Territories. That doesn't make it a big place, only about 20,000 people. It's a 1hr 45min flight NORTH of Edmonton. It would take at least 18 hours to drive from our house. So we fly because that long with little kids would suck!
I hope things settle down soon for you!

What's wrong with it Rene???
Yesterday morning it was shut down even though I had not turned it off. I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't come on. I unplugged it and then plugged it back in. It came on but you could smell something was burning up or too hot, so we took it in to Best Buy since Gary had bought a 3 year warranty on it when he bought it last year.

Gary said it might be a fan went out. I'm not too upset. It could be a lot worse. I have never had any problem with Carbonite. I had to call them when I switched the subscription from the PC to the Mac, and they were really helpful. 3 weeks will seem like a long time though! :D

It does seem like a long time to me Rene.
My HD went out. And, I just walked my Mac in the door, they diagnosed the problem - asked it i had a backup - or did they need to try to salvage the data for a hefty price. Lucky for me I had a backup. They Told me to come back the next day and, walla a new HD with complete instructions on how to reload Snow leopard so that my backup drive would then kick in and reload. And, a number to call if things didn't go as planned.
So, I was only without me mac for less than 24 hours.
OH, OH, but Best Buy is running a special (at least here in Austin) - if you buy ANYTHING that needs geek squad support - you got it for free the last week before Christmas - maybe they are way short on Geek squad people. or something like that.
Please my mac don't break right now.. please, please
And, I hope you get your mac back really soon..
And, that carbonite comes thru for you..
. Thank you! :D

When my computer got a HORRIBLE virus, I called Carbonite and this WONDERFUL guy asked me if he could have access to my computer. I said YES. Then I sat back and watched as he clicked on this and clicked on that ...... within 15 minutes he had all of my backed up files busily winging their way to my computer.
Call Carbonite and say, "I have had a horrible computer malfunction. Could you please restore my files to my computer for me?" They are happy to do it for you.

She probably loves you more than me!
   I'm sure that's it! ;)
OMG, Rene, so glad it ended well, except for your freezing and not sleeping.   Kinda weird, though, eh? :yikes: :yikes:
I think Crys has it ;)

I didn't see the special, was it in the Tabernacle or the Conference center? The Tabernacle is the place with the elliptical domed building. Remember we saw it just as we came onto temple square before we went over to where the Seagull fountain was. The Conference Center is just across the street to the North of Temple Square. We went East of Temple Square when we were by the reflecting pond. So I know you didn't go into either building w/ me, but you might have when you came last time. Seems like a bunch of people went to a performance of Music and the Spoken Word with the Tab Choir and that would have been in the Tab.
Yes we did and yes it was! :D One of the highlights of my life, I might add! :D :D

This Christmas was NOT my finest, and I'm glad it's over. Worse than that, Jackson ended up in the ER last night. His family was at his other grandma's and he got his right-hand index finger caught in the bathroom door when one of his cousins slammed the door. He pulled, as a natural impulse and pulled the nail off. Had 2 stitches in the nail and 2 stitches on the underneath side of his finger. Dr. said the nail would either re-attach or not. If not, it will NOT grow back.   He's on an antibiotic for a week, to ward against infection. Goes back to a plastic surgeon in two weeks to have the stitches taken out. OUCH! :(
DS#2 had to work Christmas, but DDIL#2 was planning on bringing the kids to our celebration, but 3 of the 4 ended up being sick.
So glad we had our family Christmas celebration at the beginning of the month.

In answer to your first question. Kyle is debuting in the role of Marquis d'Obigny in La Traviata. Very excited for him. He will be the second IWU grad. to join the ranks of the Met. Good morning girls!!! Not much going on here, just being sad and bored without my computer! :( Gary asked me last night if I was going to whine for the next 3 weeks. Well, DUH!!!!!!
Since I have nothing to do except take down the Christmas decorations, which I don't WANT to do, Emily and I are going to go to Amarillo today. Gary left this morning to work up there again this week until Thursday, so we'll go keep him company tonight and tomorrow.
He decided to stay with the company that bought us, so we won't be having to move to Dallas! Yay for that!! I think he would be happier with the other company, but neither of us wanted to take a chance on having to move, so we decided this was the best option.
We bought the land in Colorado that we went to looked at earlier this month! We're going back up there on Martin Luther King weekend to take possession and take Amy & Drew skiing at Wolf Creek. We're excited. Neither of them has even skiid before, so they will be in ski school the first day. I probably should join them since I haven't been able to ski very well the last 2 years. I really think it has to do with my traumatic experience white water rafting in Idaho 3 years ago. I'm more scared of stuff than I used to be. I think it's probably all in my head, but I don't know how to get it out of my head when I'm trying to ski.

No you're right. I can still use Gary's PC or the lappie, but it's much more fun to whine. :D. But I don't really have anything to scrap with until first of the month. All my stuff is on the Mac except for some photos I took at Christmas.

Put that mouse in the drawer for at least a week, you won't even want to get it back out after that
I'll try that...tomorrow:D. It's bedtime now. And tomorrow will be new layout time. Part of what's holding me back is how often I use the right mouse button in day to day computing. :help: I'm getting more and more used to keyboard shortcuts though, so maybe it'll be easier now.

I use my right click all the time on my pen. Which pen do u have? There should be a button and in the controller program you can define which button is rightclick etc. Plus there is some sort of wheel thing that can be used for scrolling. Use that ALL the time to zoom in and out in ps. Plus scroll up and down.

Oh, I have to go take the sweetest photo today.. - our neighbors next door our ministers who teach seminary in the Czech republic and other Soviet States...
We watch their home for them when they are away on their teaching trips - now they are about mid-70's - they don't just teach - they help build the seminaries or churches - like digging the trenches or whatever is needed.. they are great people..
They decorated their home with lights just like we do.. but they have a beautiful nativity scene out front. Well it's been dipping into the 20's out nite.. So, Betty couldn't stand that the baby Jesus was getting too cold so she placed a hand made baby's blanket over the baby Jesus - so HE wouldn't get too cold at nite..
Do, I have the sweetest most thoughtful neighbors in the world.. that was the most thoughtful touch I've ever seen.. now, I have to get a photo.. and scrap it..

Happy New Year all!
The last two weeks have been.... well, busy isn't quite the word. We have the weirdest illness going thru this house and we just can't seem to get rid of it. All 3 kids have, on one day or other, had this stomach bug. They are sick thru the night then reasonably fine all day. DD had a low grade fever, and of the 3 seems to have weathered it the best, not ever being "sick". But the poor boys. They are sick one or two nights, seem over it, then start all over. I've scrubbed everything I can think of. I think this weekend, it's gonna be the carpet, as it's the only thing left.
I miss you all! Maybe as the new year starts.........

Jeanet has re-started Digital Swaps; it's a wonderful, *just-for-fun* challenge where you're paired with another scrapper, you exchange photos and scrap a page for each other. Those that sign up run the gamut from newbies to DET, so you never know with whom you will be paired. :D
Yes, it's a little harrowing, because one gets nervous scrapping for another, BUT...................it's a wonderful way to *push* yourself and grow as a scrapper. ;)

Yes, there's something I'd like to know! Why did you say *nap time* in your earlier post and then act as if there were no such thing. I cannot follow these mixed messages you're sending...............

Three cups of coffee and I'm confused about the nap thing too. Don't think it's a lack of caffeine Rene.

That is quite the list! I need to get back into challenges so that I might get some scrapping done. I think I did 4 pages from October thru last week! Sad!!!!!
Only 2 weeks and then I'm off to "sunny" Florida. At least we hope it's sunny when we get there! LOL

That is very ambitious Addie. I'm in my busy 3 months so I have set no goals (other than survival) Between the elementary musical, my recorder ensemble, solo/ensemble contest, and organization contest.....well, I become quite cranky. I hope to get LO done, and finish the tablet lessons I have, but no ambitions for the next few months.
