It cost $164. I figure that I will have it forever. I am really rather frugal - other women have scads of purses - I have one. I always buy Vera Bradley bags - I like them because they are so light and I like the organizing pockets inside - but they are made out of cotton - they usually last me about 18 months, then they start fraying on the bottom. So I ship the old purse off to Goodwill and I buy another one. I have two evening purses - both of which were gifts from my mother-in-law. Now I have one camera bag.....and I think that I am going to love it.

I have a wedding to go to in May (oldest daughter is getting married!!!) and I had to have a camera bag so that I could get my camera back and forth to South Carolina. And did I mention that we have rented a condo on the beach AND THE GRANDKIDS ARE GOING TO BE STAYING WITH US FOR FIVE DAYS? Can anyone here say PHOTO OP??????? I talked to little Ella on the phone last night (she is six) and she is SO excited. It makes me weepy just thinking about it.

I'M GREEN WITH ENVY! That you can get your whole family together... You are one lucky mamma... have a wonderful time.. and, wow some many photo ops...

you will be one scrapping mama, after that trip..

I'm back!

Addie, sorry for the bedtime struggles. :(

Maggie, yay for the extra hour to work on all that! :yippee:

Well, I was wrong about what I thought was wrong with my arm/shoulder. The doctor, whom I really liked, seems to think instead of a rotator cuff tear, I have something called a "labral tear" in my shoulder, based on how I could and could not move it without pain. He said I have lost 45 degree range of motion in that arm and some strength. He said it was due to all the lifting of the boxes of paper all those years and also the overhead reaching to get the papers off the printers. So I told Gary it was all his fault! :D:D Anyway, to make sure it is what he thinks it is, I am having something called an MRA on Wednesday morning, which kinda sounds like an MRI, only they inject dye into my shoulder. Kinda nervous about that part of it, but how much worse can it be? Anyway, if it is that, I will be having shoulder surgery probably by the end of the month. Then lots of physical therapy. I see him again next week to discuss what the MRA says. But at least I know it's fixable and soon it will not hurt so much! Yay!

Did he say that you had a SLAP?

I am so glad that you are getting some answers!!! Prayers for you, Rene!

Oh yeah.....I also meant to tell you:

A MRA is a type of MRI ---
An MRI looks at internal structures of the body in detail.
An MRA looks at the blood flow and the blood vessels inside the body. They have to inject a contrast material to make the blood vessels show up more clearly.

I had an MRA - they gave me the contrast material through an IV that they had inserted in my hand.........they did not inject the body part they were imaging.

I need some thoughts on the GND filter. I go look at a photo site and I am not sure which one I should get and there are LOTS. Bummer though abt that tree. If you find it, can I be sure to get a start off you? :D

I just told Keith PQ and, Rene bought bags.. and, they are way cool.. I should have one - on that one he didn't ask the price..

I didn't tell him that price.. he would have choked.. I think he thinks PURSES should oh me about $30 - $50 bucks

I like to tell my dh, "guess how much money I saved you today?"

Oh on a different track. Does anybody have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer? I have always gotten the cheaper ones and yes they break quicker, but figured at 1/3 the price I could get a few. Well the latest one broke, well at least in process of breaking, so now I am trying to decide whether to just spend the money or not. Any thoughts?

I got a new lens - an 18- 200mm IS telephoto lens, but then the lens needed stuff.

So, I got a lens hood and 3 Hoya lens filters - i found a filter pack at B & H - it included an UV, Polarizer, and an ND.. I looked at buying them individually and well there is that money tree thing

and, a very light weight mono pod - for my trip to the UK coming up and, a remote switch - not wireless.. just a standard one.

But, hey, I didn't buy the ND - Sands is looking at - it has 3 stops on it - obviously not a circular filter - it's a slide filter - but, the price, ahhh,,... the money tree thing..

one stop will do it for me..

and, the purse/camera bag... and, hmm. on a new piece for my lens babies..

ok.. extra SD cards.. .

I think I got it all...

I have been taking Kelby classes like crazy - studying my new camera - so, i can take wonderful photos of our trip...

it's really all Scott's fault that i need all this stuff you know..

That's a tricky game indeed - because if you tell them - i saved you $50 ok..

but, if you say i saved you $2000, oh no.. bad idea..

We walked into a bedding. linen store one time in San Diego... and, the sales lady said, oh, perfect day for you - our sheets are $600 - (that's right $600) off today...

We both gasped.. what the heck would $600/off sheets feel like we thought.. so, Keith tried his best to distract her so i could at least feel the sheets

they were Egyptian cotton, but the thread count was like 20,000 bazillion and, they had to be dry cleaned, and no way were you going to touch those sheets without buying them first..

darn it, i just wanted to touch them

they cost about $10 K... later in my life I found out who bought those kind of sheets.. and, well, that's another long story...

oh another btw, so my backup plan got corrupted when I had the trouble w/ that one EHD, it was backing up but kinda wonky in the way it was backing up and since the drive is used solely for back up, I quick formatted the drive totally redid the backup plan in the Seagate manager then did a complete backup. Oh, Renee.....My mother had rotator cuff surgery a few years ago. She fell and tore hers. The rehab was a bit of a long haul....getting back the strength and function. But she is back to normal now. No more pain :)

That's what I've heard about the shoulder surgeries, that there is a lot of physical therapy afterwards, but it is sooooooo important in the process, and that most people, like 98% have no pain afterwards.

Did he say that you had a SLAP?

He mentioned a SLAP tear and labral tear, not sure if they are one and the same.

Oh yeah.....I also meant to tell you:

They ended up having to do a CT scan instead of the MRA, due to the bladder stimulator I have (something about magnets, blah blah blah), but still had to inject the stuff into my shoulder joint. It was HORRID!!!! He said he was going to numb it first. The first injection burned and hurt a bit, but was tolerable. The second one sent me into a panic attack and I couldn't breath and started crying on the table. So that was a bit embarrassing! It hurt so bad! I said, "Is that the dye?" He said, "No, that's just the other numbing injection." I wanted to just throw myself on a sword. It would have hurt less. The 3rd one was the dye and it hurt about as bad as the first one, but by that time, I was already upset and had a hard time calming down. Poor little nurse, kept patting my hand and telling me it was OK. Then into the CT scan room. Then out to the car, called Gary and broke down all over again even though I was no longer hurting! Today I have my usual pain, but also pain deep in the joint where the injections were. They told me to move the arm as much as possible yesterday, so I sat down and folded the 200 wedding programs (thanks for your offer of help Crys :) ) and then made the remaining wedding favor lollipop bowls for the reception tables, then decided I was done for the day.

Ugh! Skirt for the wedding is still not right! I has some netting at the bottom of it to make it flair just a bit around the knee/hem area. The netting just makes it look all lumpy! So have to go back again tomorrow! Note to self: just buy a dress off the rack next time instead of ordering one from the bridal shop.

Chris - I have a Kitchen Aid Professional model and I love it. I got a great deal at Kohl's and then saw a coupon in Bed Bath and Beyond for a free ice cream maker attachment. The grand kids love making ice cream with it. I had a Nutone Mixer which was built into the counter but when we redid the kitchen I needed something else as I now have granite counters.

Rene - I had rotator cuff surgery in July. Just do the exercises. Have you tried icing the shoulder for the pain? The PT always iced it after my workout and told me to use ice for the pain if needed. I now have total range of motion.

I am SO sorry, Rene!!!! (You should have never driven home. Why didn't you call me to drive you home?) I wonder how much of the pain was due to the person doing the injecting. I have had my horribly inflamed shoulder injected numerous times....it wasn't a cake walk, but it wasn't devastating. B*U*T

I have had two nerve conduction studies....the first time was knee-buckling awful (I swore that I would never have another one)...the second time, done by a different doctor, was EASY.

I broke a tooth off last June and I am just now getting around to getting it fixed. I went to a new doctor last week to have a crown done. When he gave me the novacaine injection it was so painful I screamed! I am usually so stoic, but it was AWFUL. The same guy gave Bia novacaine and she screamed and was HYSTERICAL. There was no calming her down.

Oh! I am so sorry to hear you had to go through all this! Any injections are hard however I agree it depends on who is doing the injecting! This is no comparison but when I go for blood tests some of the techs are terrible and I feel pain and then others know just how to withdraw blood. I usually try and go to the same lab and ask for the person who I know is great at drawing blood! Shoulder pain is no fun!
Hope you heal very soon and keep up the physical therapy, very important! hugs, carti

I think part of the problem may have been he didn't wait long enough between the first numbing injection and the 2nd one. He said my arm would start to feel heavy after the first one and asked me if it did yet, and I said no, but he just went ahead and did the 2nd one anyway. Why ask me if you don't care what the answer is?

Hope you heal very soon and keep up the physical therapy, very important! hugs, carti

Needles don't bother me, shots don't bother me. I have really small veins that are really deep and you can't find them. When I've been in the hospital before, I've had to be stuck 10 times at times to get an IV started. I've had IV's in my arm, hand, thumb and foot! So I am used to needles and how they feel, but this was a whole other level of pain!

Here's my thought! You should have bought the stand mixer in the first place. My first one was bought early in the 70's. As time went on, EVERYONE made fun of my avocado green mixer, but HEY! It was still going strong. :D Finally, when we had our kitchen redone in 2007, I absolutely refused to bring that thing into my new kitchen. So we gave it to CK's daughter and bought me a brand new black one. :yahoo: :yahoo: As far as I know, the avocado one is still beating away.

oh another btw, so my backup plan got corrupted when I had the trouble w/ that one EHD, it was backing up but kinda wonky in the way it was backing up and since the drive is used solely for back up, I quick formatted the drive totally redid the backup plan in the Seagate manager then did a complete backup. It took TWELVE HOURS!

Rene, you poor little Sweetheart; I feel so danged sorry for you. I would certainly have taken some of the pain from you, if you had let me come and help fold invitations.    I sure hope you get this all worked out, even if PT will last a long time. Pain for the rest of your life, is NOT a good prospect. :love1: :love1: :love1:

Thanks Barbara. Yes, I've tried just about everything. Nothing really helps at this point.[/QUOTE]

You have probably tried Bio-freeze and not sure if that works deep enough. On Amazon they have Sombra warming therapy gel. If you haven't tried that give it a shot......works much better than biofreeze and smells better....

Good morning girls! I will catch up on the thread later today hopefully, but in the meantime i wanted to tell you, for those who have not read it on Facebook, I'm going to be a grandmother! Drew & Amy are having a baby boy due August 1st! I've known for about a week and 1/2, but wanted to wait until after the sonogram yesterday to tell anyone. Amy & Drew did not know she was pregnant until 2 weeks before they told us due to her unreliable periods. Plus she was on the pill. They were pretty scared and freaked out at first, but we figured out a plan. Not quite the way we had all envisioned it, but Gary and I are so excited. They will be getting married probably in the next month or so. I got her in immediately to see my doctor, so we've had several different appointments since she is so far along. Yesterday at the end of the sonogram which Gary & I got to go to, Drew got to come for a few minutes and got to hear the heartbeat and see the baby. Up until that point, he was still pretty freaked out, but when he heard the baby's heart, he just burst into tears. He was more excited and less scared after that. We're setting up a nursery in one of my empty bedrooms and they will live upstairs. That way I can keep an eye on everything and babysit while Amy goes to school and works part-time. The main thing is for her to be able to stay in school so she can get her teaching degree. So its been a crazy couple of weeks for us! We will have the big wedding, possibly my shoulder surgery, them getting married probably at the courthouse, Emily's high school graduation, a trip to Vegas, them moving in, a baby shower, and the birth of the baby, all by August. Thank goodness for my iPhone calendar!

ReneT
04-09-2011, 02:25 PM
Yes, I was glad he got to get off work for a bit to come in because I thought that would help him feel more of a connection with the baby if he could hear the heartbeat. Amy & I had wished so hard for a girl. Gary and Drew had wanted a boy. I wore pink shirt, shoes and earrings yesterday, but it didn't help! Lol. As of right now his name is Jace Taylor. Taylor is Drew's middle name. If it was a girl, her name was going to be Riley Rene. Darn it! But I'm thrilled either way. I know it would have been better for everyone if this had happened after they were married and settled, but to me, he's just a blessing. After all I've been through in the last 10 months with the wedding, this little surprise has really perked me up!

Bless my sweet husband's heart. He was in Amarillo when they came over to tell me and he said, "I know my blood is not running through this baby's veins, but I still feel like it's my grandchild". Drew couldn't decide if he should tell his dad or not, but I just told him he needed to decide that for himself. So he decided to call him yesterday, but didn't get the response he had wanted, which I was afraid of. :(. But this baby will not lack for any love, with or without Drew's dad.

I've had several Jace come through my school in recent year. They tend to be all boy with a good heart. (Not that I'm a believer in the name molding the character, but I have a lengthy list of names I would never name a child, because of the personality of children coming through with that name. Rest assured Jace is not on that list)

Awesome! Poor Drew, although he wanted a boy, he told me he hoped the boy would not be like he was growing up. He said, "Mom do you think he will be like me?" I told him that even though we had problems with him growing up, he had made great strides in the last year with few setbacks and all was forgiven. I told him he needed to learn from the past mistakes, but not beat himself up forever about them.

After the sonogram, we had some lunch and did a bit of shopping for the baby's room. He unloaded all the stuff we bought and wouldn't let us carry anything, even a small sack because he said Amy was pregnant and I had a hurt shoulder. After he did all that, he came over and hugged me and told me thank you so much for all I was doing for him, Amy and their baby. It's nice to feel appreciated. :) Once Gary got home, he and Drew put together the little dresser I bought and then took the box and other trash out to the dumpster and he was telling Gary while they were outside how he had "lost it" when he heard the heartbeat. That surprised me. He rarely will talk about his feelings and certainly tries to never cry in front of anyone, so I was shocked that he told Gary about that (Gary had to leave and go back to work before Drew got there). It made me feel good that he shared that with Gary.

Well, Rene, you'll have to think ahead about what you want to be called,
Granny, Grandma, Mimi, nana,

My youngest calls me G ma

But, I think the funniest - is my neighbor - his oldest son started having kids when he was pretty young - and, so he decided on HANDSOME GRANDPA!

So, one time we were having dinner with him - and, his 6 grandkids came running in to give their grandpa a hug - yelling

HANDSOME GRANDPA! And, that's what they call him.

I thought to myself, darn darn.. why didn't i think of that one..

Pretty Grandma... If I had taught them that as babies.. that would have been way cool.

Drew and all the other grandkids always called my parents Memaw & Pepaw. But usually around here it's grandma and grandpa. Also, lots of people in this area are Mimi to their grandchildren. I'm going to be Nana. I decided that a long time ago! As soon as we found out about the baby, I told Gary he needed to decide what he was going to be, and being Gary, would just come up with stupid stuff to irritate me. He'd say, "I'm just gonna be Gary" or "He can call me G-Dawg". I would just give him "the look". Finally Amy got a text from her parents saying what they were gonna be which was Grandma and Grandpa I think, so I told Gary he was going to be Papaw.

So now, even when the kids aren't around, he calls me Nana all the time. "Nana, I'm home!" "Goodnight Nana" "Nana come here and give me a kiss" I finally had to tell him that when we're not around the baby, we need to just be us and not be calling each other Nana & Papaw. I said we've only been married 6 years. We need to still be a couple, and saying "Goodnight Nana" before he kissed me goodnight wasn't very romantic, so now he just does it even more.:rofl::rofl:

I agree Gundi - That is why we scrap - and, i'm trying so hard to add the old stories to my heritage pages.. I just never thought until we started this conversation about why I called my grandfather Pampo - it never ever entered my mind - and, now there is no one to ask..

That's one of the reasons, among many, that I miss my parents so much. I wasn't scrapping much when they were still alive, but now that I have all their old photos, I can't ask them the stories. I do have an aunt who can still help me out with some of it though.

And, Rene... you talk every single day about your precious Grandbaby... we are all so excited about Jace..

you can talk about Jace every single day.. and, I don't think one of us will be bored.. I'm tinkled pink.. no tinkled blue for you!!!!!

I forgot to tell Amy today that it's all Drew's fault that she and I didn't get the girl we were hoping for. I meant to tell her it is the dad that determines that so she could give Drew a hard time.

oh yay can't wait to see. Thanks so much for doing that for us!

I mailed Flat Angie and her photos and story about 2 weeks ago I think. Not exactly sure because these last couple of weeks have been a blur.

My dress for the Lindsey's wedding was FINALLY ready last Friday! Yay! I was beginning to panic since the skirt kept getting messed up by the alterations. But I love it now. Good thing - the wedding is Saturday!

Yep, I think it will. I have all kinds of appointments this week. My ortho doc is tomorrow, so hopefully I will find out what is wrong with my arm. Amy and I are meeting with a pediatrician on Thursday to see if we like him. The nurse had told us we needed to pick one out soon since some only take certain # of newborns a month. I have to make a bunch of "touching base" phone calls with the wedding vendors, get the dogs groomed, the carpet cleaners come tomorrow, nails, chiropractor, dinner with Lindsey on Wed, get the guys tuxes (or at least make sure they do it on Thurs), pedicure, pick up my clothes from the alteration shop for the rehearsal dinner since they no longer fit after my weight loss, and get the house ready for the bridal party to spend the night Friday night. Busy, busy!!!!

Like that is probably no lie! Is that why I'm so tired, cuz you guys are adding errands to my errands? No wonder!:rofl: I seriously could not function these days without my calendar on my phone! I wouldn't know who I was or where I was supposed to be. Amy thinks I'm crazy! Every time I try to take her to an appointment, I make the wrong turn! Today I was taking her to a doctor appointment, understand this doctor has been my doctor for 14 years, and I could not find his office! I know she has to think I've lost my mind! But in my defense, I have so many things on my mind at one time AND when I pick her up, I am going to the places from the opposite direction than what I would be if I were going alone from my house.

I'm trying! Going to go relax in the hot tub in a little bit. That should help. Drew called me a "grandma on steroids" (actually he posted it on Facebook) because I was making a spreadsheet of things I thought they needed to put on their baby shower registry.:rofl: I said, "No I am a Nana on steroids". I am not a wait-until-the-last-minute-and-hope-all-goes-well kinda girl. I need the plan in place way ahead of time. I guess I could have said if they'd given me more than 4 months to prepare for having a grandchild and 2 more adults living in my house while in the middle of a wedding, possible shoulder surgery and upcoming graduation, that might have been helpful. :D As it stands, I feel like we're on the fast track and Amy has no one here but me to help her through it and to know what to do (not that I mind because I for sure do not, I love it :D). Add that all in with my normal life and I feel an even greater compulsion than usual to make a spreadsheet to organize things!:lol::lol:

Good morning girls! Another quiet day here in the Gundi thread. Just got back from the doctor's office. Dropped off the dogs at the groomers on the way, then just as I was pulling into the parking lot, my car started jerking. I didn't think I was going to make it into the parking space. I called Gary, who was not too happy to have to leave work about the time his hard drive crashed to come check on it, especially when he found out that the only problem with it was that I had accidentally and unknowingly put it in 4 wheel drive! Oops! :D

The doctor says I have a SLAP tear in my shoulder, same thing as the labral tear thing he said. Surgery is scheduled for April 27th. I will have to wear a sling for 3 weeks and have 4-6 weeks of physical and water therapy. For 3 weeks I can't reach for anything, only move my hand palm facing my face from about my stomach to my nose. No doing my hair, no reaching for a glass of tea. Should be interesting. I asked him about using the computer and he said that was fine. Yay! :D

Let me just say that "life flight" is VERY expensive!! ahahahaha.... oh my! Between 'life flight' and 2 ambulances, and her trauma stay, she racked up a hefty medical billing file!

Insurance is denying the claims for the life flight because there was no PRIOR authorization or approval from insurance. Ahhhhhhhhhhahahahahahahahahhaa.... are they FOR REAL!!!????? First off, it was LIFE OR DEATH... literally! Secondly, you jerks knew about it within 4 hours of ME receiving the phone call that she was in the air unconscious! Her primary doctor knew about it right before I told you.... what more was I suppose to do!!!???? Ugh. Jerks. Idiots.

ok let's see if my msg is gonna get zapped. So we have this one particular toilet in the garage bathroom that seems to get plugged more than any other. DH has pulled it off at least 4 times and there has been lovely stuff in like a spoon, popsicle stick and that doing-y thing that holds the tp roll. So anyway, it was acting all plugged and I plunged and plunged multiple times over the course of a week, and it would not be backed up, just slow. ALL of the kids vehemently denied having put ANYTHING down the toilet except you know what. So I was trying to get DH to try to plunge and see if he did better. Well he refused because he just KNEW they had thrown something down there. So he is griping and grumping and pulled the toilet off and yeah just the you know what, so then he was wishing he had plunged a bit.

I got a phone call today, my insurance issue for the life flight has been remedied! Yippee!
My daughter was taken to two locations, and insurance thought it was the second location that the life flight was for.... which would have meant, there would have been time to get prior authorization (and the first hospital would have been the ones generally to call and get that approval before flight), as she was stable when the second hospital location came into play... two weeks later. But nope, the billing was for the flight from 'on site' to the first hospital. Sooo since it was from the first transport upon 911 being called, it's covered, woot! I knew it would be, I just needed to get them to open their brains a tad bit and understand what the heck was going on.

Happy I don't have to have that battle now!

What program do ya use to organize your kits?
I always keyword my previews right away, even if I don't have time to keyword the rest of the stuff in each kit...that way when I click on my smart collection called "previews" (Im so simple... lol!) it comes up with ALL my previews and then I filter them by "date modified" and it puts my newest purchased first. I do the same thing as you when I buy in bulk like during BD week.... I totally forget what I bought and I have to pull up my smart collection.

send it to me too please, I keep making a mess of my bridge cuz I keep changing up my mind. ugggg. So tell me is there a way to rename an entire keyword, cuz like I had ribbon, then changed to ribbon lace. Well now all of my stuff that was marked as ribbon before doesn't automatically change it has the ribbon designation still

Christine, do you mean that you have a group of ribbons that you had previously marked as ribbon, you later went and marked as ribbon lace... but the 'ribbon' is still showing on them? Can't ya just highlight them all at once, and then uncheck the ribbon box? Or maybe I have totally misunderstood what your tryin to do....

Christine, use smart collections to locate them.... or even just a FIND.... for keyword "ribbon" on your drive... it should pull up all files with a KEYWORD of ribbon and then you can highlight them all and unmark them that way.

Smart collections are so smart!

Good morning Gundi Girls! Well today is the big day! We had the wedding rehearsal last night and rehearsal dinner. The bride and bridesmaids are here, leaving shortly for the wedding venue to start getting ready. We've had LOADS of wedding drama in the last couple of days. It's been fun. NOT! What it pretty much boiled down to was Lindsey felt the news of Drew & Amy's baby had "ruined her wedding weekend". Really?

Anyway, I'm hoping and praying that all goes off without a hitch. I want them to have the wedding they dreamed of, but I am so ready for it to be over. KWIM?

So pray that I don't do something "Rene-ish" and trip in my shoes while Drew ushers me to my seat.:pray:

Funny you mention that Rene, because one of my first thoughts in my reply to you about the 'baby news' was if the kiddo was jealous and worried that it would 'take away from her big day'.... but I think (or did I actually post it? lol) I deleted it because I didn't want to be rude or sound insensitive. The reason it was one of my first thoughts is because we had this exact drama in my family when I became pregnant with Kaylin. And, funny enough, 18 years later it is *STILL* drama in our family!! Ugh, some people need to get over themselves! This world must keep going'round, even though your getting married people, get over it! LOL! :-)

Have a great day Rene!!!!!!!!

I have already cleaned the kitchen, done two loads of laundry, got DH fed and off to work (yay overtime $$, lol) and got DS fed and off to boyscout trip, bought a new bedding set for DD that she picked out (she's getting our bedroom set as soon as my new one quits being slow and gets here!!! Im getting excited!) and shopped online for my new bedding set, and.... dun dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn - got TAXES SUBMITTED!! I already basically had them done abit ago, just been staring at them in my online account and not submitting because we owe a darn chunk of money and I didn't wanna give it to them until the last moment. I hate that we pay a huge chunk in taxes and yet, they still want MORE from us!! Gahh!
I'm so sick of it.

Well it is a huge story, which I will share with you in the next few days when I have time. But I can tell you that Gary and I had purposefully not brought up anything about the baby because we knew we would be accused of that very thing. She's the one that brought it up. And in the 10 months this has been going on, I have only once told her "no" to something 2 times. The "no" I said Wednesday night led to the biggest day of drama, tears, anger and her accusation about the baby. It was unbelievable. It was so bad Thursday that neither Gary nor I were able to eat all day. Fun times.

Are you sure she's not my SIL??!!
My SIL not only accussed me and my parents of PLANNING the whole thing (to "ruin" her wedding day) but then when my daughter was born 2 months early, she said "well isn't that the cherry on top, just a month before my wedding day, thank a lot!" as she stomped out screaming at me in the hospital!! IN THE HOSPITAL!! As if I PLANNED to have a PREEMIE baby?????!!! Oh yes, of course I did, cause I wanted all the risks that came with that, right?! JERK! She then screamed at my parents about how they were spending money on "the brat" (mind you, the baby wasn't born just yet) and how we pushed her wedding to the side. Her wedding was paid for 100% by MY parents, my parents gave them both everyyyyyyyyyything they wanted and asked for and gosh forbid my parents actually buy a baby crib as a GIFT for their FIRST grandchild!! To this day she still accuses my mother of "Spoiling Laura and her kids".... uhhhh listen here JERK, YOU are not family except by a marriage certificate, you are not a child of my mothers by adoption, step, or biological... so if my mother wants to spoil her ONLY daughter and her only daughters two children, then back it off!!!!

Whew... didn't this conversation spark some emotion! LOL!!!
This is a topic in our family at LEAST every other month... at the very least. The latest is "she's turning 18, are you going to buy the MOON for her?!" ....my mother says "yes, possibly I just might.... just to tick you off!" ..... ahahahahahahahahahah!!!

My mom says "if your old enough to say 'I do', then you ought to be old enough to stop being selfish and to stop acting like a 5 year old child who got her lollipop taken away for bad behavior"..... and my mom says it to the jerk's face, I love my mom.

Renee...I hope everything turns out perfectly for YOU today. I'll be thinking about you as i watch my DGS ride the 4-wheeler that his Great Papa just gave to him! Got my camera ready. Yesterday was our 29th anniversary.. the day started out perfect - we made plans for what we were going to do - where we were going to have a perfect dinner out.

then Keith started having what appeared to be a TIA. And, to make a long story short, he has yet to recover from the incident.. we had emt's here.. but he didn't want to go with them and ruin our anniversary.. i finally got him to go to the hospital.
by the time we got there - it was like - a crash team - i never knew there was only 6 hours from time of incidident..

we hit the er at the 4 hour mark.. they had at least 20 people in that room trying to save his life.. well, not a stroke, but what happened.

he won't wake up either, and still slurring his speech.

something is way wrong.. so, they kept him overnight.

i'm off to talk with the doctors today..

prayers please.

so Rene are you ready to vent yet? :)

ReneT

Rene is probably in a coma round about now :D

I seriously did absolutely nothing yesterday! I sat in my recliner all day. My whole body hurt! From the time I left to go to the salon, until we got home after midnight, the day did not stop! Brad and Lindsey came by for a bit before they left to go back to San Antonio to get ready for their flight to Aruba this morning at 3am. His mom sent them there for their honeymoon. Amy & Drew came by for awhile last night.

Let me backup a bit and tell you what had happened 2 days before the wedding when everything blew up. Lindsey had gotten into town Tues night and wanted us all to go out to dinner Wed night. During that dinner Gary and I did not say anything about the baby, like I said earlier. She was the one who brought it up. She made a snide comment about she couldn't believe Drew & Amy didn't know they were 5 1/2 months pregnant. Drew took offense to that and later sent her a text telling her bluntly, but not rude, that he didn't appreciate that, and he tried to explain the situation and said please don't spread any rumors, and thank you. Later that night, I had to text her to ask her where she wanted us to put the air mattresses for the bridesmaids to sleep after the rehearsal dinner. I gave her several options, none of which she liked. She wanted them in the room I call my office which will eventually be the baby's room, but at the time, had huge boxes of baby furniture and lots of boxes of wedding stuff everywhere. It was a mess, and we didn't have time, nor did we want to move those huge boxes of furniture to another room when there were plenty of other options. That made her mad and she kept arguing with me about it in texts, trying to get us to make that room available to her. Finally I just bluntly told her no and she then said "Well if it's going to be so much trouble for us to be there and mess up the baby's room, we'll just stay somewhere else." It was never about the baby's room, it was about the stupid large boxes and the mess! So after all this, Thursday morning she called her dad at work crying hysterically that Drew had been rude in his text and I had been mean to her in mine and we had ruined her wedding! So Gary calls me and he's upset, even though he knew what had been said in my texts to her. By the end of the day, everyone is upset and Gary and I decided as much as we didn't want to have the talk about what all had happened, that it was time. So he called her to come over and talk about it and she tried everything she knew how to not come over, but finally agreed to, and her and Emily came over. For 3 hours we talked about all the stuff that had happened, first about the stuff from the day before and got that cleared up and of course what it all was about, was that she was jealous that Gary was excited to be a granddad to a child that wasn't hers.

Then I talked about all the things that had upset me over the last 10 months - from the engagement photos, to the constant demanding, to the bachelorette party. Some times I got excuses, some times I got a blank look. Not sure I ever really got through to her. I said, "Never once in all these years have I ever said a negative word about your mother, but I will say this: I have done 99% of all the work and payment for this wedding, and I did it gladly and I had fun doing it. I wanted to do it, but you have done maybe .8% and your mother maybe .2%, and she gets invited to the party and I didn't. How did you even justify that to yourself?" She said she didn't think I would want to be there. I said, "Well I did." I told her it was MY decision to pay for the whole bride's part of the wedding, not her dad's. I told her that we had paid her mother enough money over the years that she could have EASILY have paid her portion, and she said she knew that, but it wasn't her fault her mother had blown it all. I told her I was not saying it was her fault, I was pointing out that because I wanted this to be the wedding of her dreams, that was why I decided to not have it become an issue for her of who paid for what and trying to make her mother pay. I told her I did it for her and this was how she treated me. I just got a blank look. She said she did appreciate it all, but just wasn't good at showing it. I told her she had no idea how much that hurt me about the party and then having the photos show up all over Facebook of the party with her mother there and me not, it just rubbed salt in the wound. Anyway after all those hours, at least we all said what we needed to say. I don't know if it will do any good in the long run, but it at least allowed me to enjoy the wedding yesterday and not feel so hurt and angry.

The wedding went off without a hitch, mostly. The only problem seemed to be that Brad's stepfather for some reason did not get a boutonniere. Not sure what happened to his. I was so busy from the time we arrived at 3:15 until we got home at midnight. It was non-stop dealing with vendors questions, making sure things were the way we had planned them, then once the wedding started, some of it is a blur. Funny that after all that has happened, I was the one who was a big crybaby during the wedding, toasts to the bride & groom, and father/daughter dance. Kim never cried once even though she had been telling everyone for months that she wasn't even going to wear mascara because she was going to cry all day. Emily did such an awesome job on her speech. She had grown men crying. Gary's was of course hilarious and touching. I am hoping to get a video of it from the photographer in a few weeks if it was one of the little videos they made. We didn't have the whole thing videoed. It turned out to be a great day and evening. I think I was able to really enjoy it all and see all the work I had done in a positive light because of getting all my feelings out on Thursday night. I don't know that I would have otherwise. Drew looked so handsome in his tux. Him ushering me in was bittersweet. I wondered if he and Amy looked at the wedding and wished they could have it for themselves. They are trying to decide whether to have something in our backyard, or just go to the courthouse. Even if they do decide to have a ceremony, it will just be about 20 or less people though, so I can handle that.

Anyway, in 2-3 weeks, we should be able to see the photos online, and once we order our bigger prints, she will give us a CD of all the pics which we will be able to use for whatever we want, 8x10 and smaller. I really really loved this photographer. She knew I was the stepmother and that I had been the one at all the meetings and stuff. When she was photographing Lindsey getting dressed she asked if I wanted to put her necklace on her. Kim was in the bathroom getting dressed about that time. I walked up to Lindsey and asked if she wanted her mom to do that, and and Lindsey said OK. About that time Kim comes out of the bathroom and realizes what is going on and she comes barreling up there and takes the necklace from me. A bit later, Dominique the photographer took the veil, handed it to me and said she wanted photos of me helping the bride get dressed too. I absolutely wanted to hug her in that moment and later thanked her for it. Bless her heart.

Sorry for such a long post, needed to get the whole story on here.

:pray::pray::pray: How scary!! :pray::pray::pray:

Keith had the EEG m r I ultra sound yesterday. His face seems better today. By that I mean his smile isn't crooked. But he just sleeps unless I make him stay awake
Hopefully we will know something today. Only things ruled out are organ failure and infection. I stayed with him last nite. Hospital cots and food are the best way to be with your BFF. We watched tv together to make him stay awake.
We did our traditional anniversary thing last nite eating hospital food
Each and every anniversary we think about all of our blessings that have happened in the year and then in all the years before now 29 of them and thank God for each of them. We didn't want to miss that tradition. So we praised Him that we were together for another year. You can't break a tradition.

Here's the latest. Keith's face seems back to normal. He's still very tired. * Neuro says MRI is normal. So is EKG & EEG. Waiting for ultrasound results but she thinks it is not a stroke ms related or hardening of the arteries. Which leaves us with - the ultra sound might show something, he might have had a migraine like he used to get but hasn't in over 12 years. Or unknown - we have to wait for another one to happen. Hopefully he will be releases today. But we need test results and the intenist to release us. Tnx for all o your prayers.

Best way to get wheat pasta:

Grab keys
Grab purse
Hop in car
Drive to store
Purchase WHEAT PASTA

Come home and cook.

LOL! I love your red mixer! I have a cobalt blue one. I use mine allllll the time, but I really should get more attachments for it and use it even more than I do. Mine stays on the counter for easy access because I use it so much. I love that they are so easy to wipe down to clean too.

So anyone wanna laugh AT me?

So I get DS to school this morning and on my way home I thought to myself that when I get home I am going to finish the layout I started last night. It's of a photo I love of Kevin.
I had worked really hard on this layout til about 2'oclock this morning, trust me it's not spectacular, it was worked on so much cause I am slowwwwwww and totally not creative... but I was having FUN doing it and thats what matters, right? Just say yes, I like to amuse myself, okay... lol. Anyyyyyways..... I was excited to get home this morning and finish working on it some more. I open Bridge and I go to find my layout and all I see in the icon of it is the veryyyyyy basic parts of the LO when I first started it, not a nearly completed layout! I was so mad at myself for not having saved it, so I got up and walked away, totally ticked off. I come back to just ignore that it happened and check in on DSP and start a totally different layout. When I look down I see CS is open, so I click it and BINGO, there is my layout I thought I was missing!!! I guess I was so tired that I never saved it and exited, I musta just walked away from it and went to shower and bed. ahahahahaha!!! But ahhhhh it's there, and it's now SAVED, LOL!

So I wasted all my 'mad energy' on nothing..... dang it! LOL!

This is when my mom would have said to me when I was a kid .... "take a deep breath and check all locations, maybe you didn't really lose your sweater, it's just misplaced .... " ..... so my layout was just 'misplaced' for abit, I need to slowwww down and quit getting mad so quickly over small things!

Hi Heather, nice to see you around again!

I agree with those who said it takes a year to feel 'normal' after a big move. Sometimes it took me a FEW years. When I moved to NC, I felt really depressed for quite some time. Once I get my bearings about me, then I feel much better and am able to enjoy my new surroundings and make the best of them.

I'm glad your back around and going to be scrapping again!

Since I haven't scrapped in SO long and now I have a mac, I really need some help. I finally got my camera out on Sunday and we went to the beach and took some pics.

Everyone told me it would take a year to feel normal after moving and they weren't kidding. It's been REALLY hard and had some depression going on, but I hope I'm moving on now. Can you believe I've been here a year? I can't!!

:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo: so glad you are back!!! yes of course we love you and want you to come play with us!

I drove back to work to see a collegue's swan song. It was her final concert of her teaching career. Just thinking about having a final concert (wow). I don't know how she made it through without crying. I'm very glad I went, even if my house is still not company ready.

Gosh I am getting worse and worse, I cry over everything. ds1 had a school program today and I am sitting there bawling and I don't even really know why! Partly the proud mom thing and partly cuz it was a Utah heritage program and it just made me all tear-y thinking about the awesome place that I have always called home.

Well I think I am going to bed early tonight. I am still sick and my head and throat are KILLING me. I hate that when you would almost rather drool than swallow.

Hi Heather. I'm Maggie (aka pirate girl). I'm pretty sure the GG will let you do absolutely anything if you bring chocolate.

Strep is going around here Chris. Maybe that's what you have. Well, come to think of it Babies are going around here too. We have 3 new additions at work and 3 more on the way. So, maybe that's what you have ;)

Welcome back Heather, I know about the moving around thing... take deep breathes.. and do what you can do when you are ready!

Christine hope you feel better..

Rene.. i pray life gets semi normal for you soon..

We are home.. exhausted.. I have the best neighbors and my niece..
All tests run on Keith were negative.. so they chalk it up to painless migraines, which he had in the past - but have been under control for over 12 years with medication.

so, to me that's a very scary diagnosis.. if i'm around, i know what to do.. if i'm not around.. He looks acts like he drunk or if you are a trained medical person - having a stroke..

Christine are you pregnant???? hmm. I have to go to the hospital again today.. I could drop off a test for you..

That's fantastic news Debi...in a sense. Good to know that it's really nothing to worry about unless it happens when he's alone.

Thanks ladies, I feel so loved! :love2::love2:

My mom is coming today, so I'm hoping when the kids go back to school on Monday I can dust off PS. It could take awhile to get use to it again.

I'm glad you guys are home. I'm kinda like you, I don't know that the diagnosis would make me feel any better either. I've never heard of a painless migraine. That seems like an oxymoron. If there is such a thing, can Gary and I have it instead of the ones we have? :D I'm praying nothing further happens and this is what they say it was and all is well.

Semi normal......I'm not sure what that means in this household lately. LOL We had another sonogram for baby Jace yesterday. Not much had changed in 2 weeks. There is one thing they are keeping an eye on, but they say they are not concerned, just making sure. It's normal, but "borderline". Since nothing had changed that was a good sign, but I was hoping it would go down dramatically so I can quit worrying. I am much more worried than Gary or the kids are, but that's my nature. I don't really want to go into it here and now. I will tell you if they tell us to be concerned. In the meantime, I would love and appreciate your prayers for baby Jace. I just couldn't stand it if anything happens to him. He's been my little miracle and blessing in light of all I've been through lately, and I just love him so much already. I know the doctor and technician say not to worry, but they also say not to Google the condition because then I will really be freaked out. They promised they would be honest if we needed to worry, but I feel like with my luck, I have reason to worry. It's another month before the next sonogram. His nursery is coming along and is going to be so cute. Sometimes when I'm stressed, I go sit in the glider and just sit there and glide and it's so calming and makes me happy. Yesterday we saw him put his little hand in his mouth and they said he weighs about 1 pound 12 ounces. I don't know if I told you all this or not, but Drew is convinced he looks just like him. Amy and I went to a Carters store yesterday after the sonogram and I bought 2 outfits for him. I've tried really hard not to buy anything except the nursery furniture, but lost the battle yesterday. I think I'm just afraid to do too much until I feel perfectly fine that everything will be OK. I have prayed and prayed about it, and I've just got to let go and give it to God. I really wasn't going to tell anyone about it, but you know me, I'm not one to hold things inside too well.
