Do any of you ladies use a Mac, I have always used a windows PC but the hard drive has just died on me and I'm doing the rationale on replacing that on the old machine or deciding it is time to upgrade.
I have heard a lot of good things about Mac but it is a big decision to change as I will presumably have to repurchase a lot of my software - still the i-Mac sounds awesome for digital work and I have a windows laptop I can do my 'other work' on if needs be.
I'd be really interested in anyones experience changing from one to the other and what any Mac users think of photo editing and scrapping on it.

I saw somewhere on the Adobe site that if you own their software for a PC, they will swap it for Mac software of the same kind. You do not get both. It would be worth looking into. I have a PC desktop and a Macbook Pro laptop. I love my "Miss Mac".

I have a MacBook Pro and love it, have used Macs for the past umpteen years. However, there is one thing I have to do for my business in the Windows environment, so I spent $79 on VMware Fusion and bought a Windows operating system and installed them on my Mac... now I have the best of both worlds on the Mac, can switch into Windows at any time and can use any Windows software. Might be worth looking into for you.

On my macbook I have VMware fusion too with a windows XP OS. I go to the windows system on my mac if I have to for certain things. Most of my time is spent on the Mac side though. I love having both options. Hope this helps.

Heather, Thank You, thank you for posting this...
I had bought a Mac - but thought I would still have to do my Scrapping on my XP - until I could afford to buy new Adobe software -
I looked up the information on Adobe's site - called them up - faxed them letters of destroy - for PSE 6 and CS3
And, I'll be getting my New MAC versions of PSE 6 and CS4 - I just had to pay for the upgrade price for the difference between CS3 and Cs4...
I would have (very wrongly assumed - that when I was ready) I could have simply upgraded my PC CS3 for Mac CS4 - oh NO - you can't do that - you can only upgrade within a platform...
You don't know how much aggrevation, time and money you saved me.
And, I'll soon be scrapping on my mac.. and, they said it was ok to download the trial versions in advance - as long as I quit using the PC versions of PSE and CS...
So, I pledged that I would and wow....
Thanks so much for this information - I can scrap on my new Mac...
Thanks Heather... .

I have use a Mac for 99% of my work for over 6 years now! I love my Mac, especially for my scrapbooking. Now, I just need to get a new Macbook Pro and I will be in heaven. BTW - I have a 24" Mac. The only suggestion I would have is to think about an adjustable desk. On my traditional desk the monitor is kind of high and gives me a bit of a stiff neck after a marathon day.

I use both Mac and PC. I have my digi kits, etc. on a EHD so can move it with me from one computer to the other. I did have to buy PSE for both computers, however. I love my Mac, have had one since they first came out a million years ago. PCs were always necessary for work so I've always had both. The Mac is great for downloading & browsing because there are very few viruses out there for the Mac - the people who make these awful things prefer to hit as many computers as possible and there are more PCs out there than Macs.

Great information - thank you all for your help. I did get my windows machine back operational and had recently backed up so didn't loose too much data, still it is getting older and probably only has another year or so left in it.... I have almost decided that my next computer will be a Mac - just the decision of which one ...

My Mac does have the 24 inch screen - but my chair is adjustable, so so far, I haven't had problems with neck or back issues...
I do need to rearrange my office tho, I still have my old PC in here.. just in case I need to move some files over...
Once that's all done, I can get all my equipment in place the way I want it.
But so far I love it..

I switched to a mac (laptop) about a year ago. I like it fine, but actually wish I had stayed on PC and gotten a much larger screen for the same money. I just don't find it that much more impressive than PC. Yes, you can drag items from one program to the other, but how hard, really is it, to open a file and select! Maybe I was just too entrenched in PCs to be able to convert to an apple person!!!

I have used Both for 20 years.. I definitively prefer the MAC by far but have and to use the PC in my work environments - what you don't have on the MAC that you do get on the PC is you computer FREEZES, viruses( you do not even need a virus software) confusing configurations, slowness,/ The MAcs are faster, better at graphic programs and muc h more intutitve. I say go for it!!
