View Full Version : Arghh!! Can I get my activation code back?

I had a complete hard drive failure on Sunday. I have now fitted a new one, restored all my data and reloaded most of the software I use. I lost two things that are frustrating, my favourites and emails/contacts in outlook.
I kept my ACDSee activation code as an email and I had a backup of the setup programme with my scrapbook kits backup - so I went to reinstall it but without my emails I don't have the activation code so I can't set it up.
I am really annoyed with myself for not thinking of backing up email but is there a way to recover the activation code?:eek:

It looks like you can enter your email and part of your cc number and get it back. Otherwise I guess you'd have to open a problem ticket with them there...good luck!

Oh Toni - I'm so sorry!!! I hope the link Gail gave you does the trick for you!
In addition to backing up the pst file for Outlook, you can also backup your favorites. I do both of them as part of my regular backup routine. If you don't know where those files are, just holler!

Ack - that is so frustrating Toni! I use my web based email addresses (gmail and yahoo) for all my commercial dealings. It keeps my "real" email clear and means that I can find things like that if I need to.
Gad, that's so scary! I've got lots of stuff backed up, but every now and then I think of something I hadn't done yet, and am now paranoid that I didn't back up enough!! We're all so vulnerable! And then you get the rash of EHD failures we've had lately, which increases my paranoia - it's amazing any of us sleep!

Thanks for the help (and the sympathy). I can't use the automated process as it requires the credit card number you bought it with and it was before I left NZ so that card is closed. I have opened a problem ticket so we'll see how it goes. My problem not theirs but they might be willing to help.
Ohh I'll sure keep my fingers crossed for you. I've heard they're really good and helpful, so sure hope that's true!

If by any chance you still have the card number, I don't think they want to use it for anything than to confirm you are the actual person who ordered the product. I'm assuming from your post that you don't have that anymore either, but just thought I'd throw that out there.. good luck with the ticket!

Hi Kristi, sadly I wasn't able to get it sorted. They did reply to my email but we seemed to communicate at cross purposes - they said they had no record of my email address for the purchase and yet they have continued to regularly send me emails to that address about upgrades consistently since the purchase and they are still coming through OK.
I can't fault them for it, I am sure like all online purchases the email would have told me to keep the code in a safe place, just turns out my email box wasn't as safe as I thought.

The Digital River support people actually handle the purchasing questions and they're not connected with the ACDSee people doing updates and newsletters. Let me see if I can make sure the ACDSee product registration people can confirm your email addy to Digital River...please PM me your email address that you used to purchase your software with. Thanks!
ETA: Digital River is probably where you were getting weird responses from. We're better off just getting it from ACDSee and they're working to install a new support ticket system so PM me and I'll run it through CS for you.
