I downloaded a bunch of kits yesterday and unzipped into ACDSee. After when I went into ACDSee to organize them, the folders disappeared!! I'm spazzing out! In the folder view, the major "scrapbook kits" folder is there but nothing underneath! On the right all the stuff is still there, but I can't see the folders on the left. And I can't call any pieces up. There's no file to go to!! I have no clue what happended and how to fix except to restore from my EHD. And if I do, wouldn't that wipe out something or not even show the folders either? I'm almost ready to cry here!
If anyone can help, I'd be truly appreciative!!

Hi Norma - don't panic someone will be able to help. More than likely you have a filter turned on or something non destructive like that. Have you looked at the kits in Windows Explorer? See if you can still see them there. Don't move anything around just point and click. (If you do anything to them out side of ACDSee, ACDSee will loose track of them.) If you see them, you haven't lost anything. :) Now back in ACDSee, can you take a screen shot and post it here so we can see what you are seeing? In the window where you normally see the things in your kits, just above it do you see a "Filter by" button? If so click on it and make sure that "All" is selected. -c-

C, hey thanks for replying so fast. I was certainly spazzed out yesterday...but the problem is fixed now. I'll explain. I was unzipping kits from my desktop and just browsing and setting up a folder to put them in (yes, outside of ACDSee) but I've always done that when unzipping.
Anyway, I had already checked the filters and it was on all. I had checked IE and the folder was there but not all the subs with my kits! So I went to the ACDSee site and tried the suggestion they had for if you moved files outside of ACDSee...which was database/database maintenance. Well, after I got thru doing that, I didn't even have the icons and stuff on the right side of my ACDSee.
So, to make a long story short, I ended up restoring from my backup which I really didn't want to do since stupid me hadn't backed it up in about 3 weeks. Luckily I have all my zipped kit folders on my EHD too so I had to go thru all my recent purchases (which I print out and file receipts of) so I could go back and get those kits.
What a pain...but it taught me a lesson to make sure I back up every other day! And to watch what I'm doing because I think I just hit some key or something that screwed everything up.
But I so appreciate the help and the quick response. That program is the bomb and I'd be lost without it!

If you're doing a lot of organizing it's a good idea to backup after every session. All that hard work is a pain to loose.

Yeah, that's one reason I love ACDSee is how easy it is to do backups! You just have to remember to do it. ;-) It'd be nice if it had a way to configure an automatic backup similar to Lightroom.

Hi Norma! Glad everything worked out! I too have learned to do bkups every time I do something in ACDSee. It takes so little time and saves so much. I'll give you and other folks a hint regarding the archiving of bkups. They take up space, not much at first, but if you do them pretty regular, they start to add up. I only keep the last 3 or 4 bkups. Either Connie or Heidi had posted on DSI that they were getting short on hard drive space and realized there was oodles of space eaten up with the old bkups. So... just something else to keep in the back of your mind. :) -c-

So glad you managed to get this sorted out just sorry you had extra work to do :(
I had a VERY bad experience with ACDSee last month (MUCH emailing back and forth with tech support) - I too learned the hard way that frequent back ups were very definately required - mine were older than 3 weeks :(
One tip I also learned, always do a backup before you optimize database - it sometimes messes things up! Then saw this yesterday, set to optimize, left it doing its thing whilst i made a cup of tea, came back to find my screen looking as though someone had scrubbed it with a potscourer! Just a huge mess..... NOTHING would get it to "go away", I eventually had to power off - fortunately when i restarted all was well.
I really love ACDSee, use it constantly and cannot do without it, but I do wish they would iron out the bugs that are very definately there!

I have a new MAC and am wondering if it is possible to get ACDSee for Macs, as I knew exactly where everything was when I used it on my PC.

I poked around on the ACDSee website but didn't see any Mac compatible versions. Here's the link, maybe you can see if something is in the works. http://www.acdsee.com/ Good Luck! -c-

I'm glad you were able to fix your issue. I love the batch unzip feature in Photo Manager 10 so if you're using that version you might give that a try. We also have lots of helps over at www.digiscrapinfo.com and I monitor that forum daily. Sorry Google hasn't been keeping up and alerting me or I'd have seen this sooner...lol!
ACDSee is working on their Pro version for MAC...you can sign up for details and to join the beta program here (http://www.acdsee.com/offers/proformac/). Hopefully they'll be adding a PM for Mac too once Pro for Mac is launched. HTH!

Kristi, thanks for replying. I did know about the site but didn't see anything at the time pertaining to my problem...or I just missed it! I didn't know there was a batch unzip feature. I just have to find it...LOL!
