I am trying to get an online art exhibition up and going around the topic of birth and motherhood. You can find more info at http://thebeginningofmotherhood.blogspot.com/2008/09/art-of-giving-birth-on-line-exhibition.html.

I'm digressing a little to request anyone who wants, to create an art piece under the theme of the art of giving birth. I want them centered around the sub-themes I've discussed...so 1) Overcoming fear/loss 2) Beyond the pain 3) Empowerment 4) Leaning on the help of others 5)the meaning behind the birth. I would like to do these as an on-line blog. They could be anything from quilts, to pictures, to sculpture, or writing. I want them tasteful and something which could inspire hope and feelings of peace in our abilities as women to give birth and to be mothers. For those in the medical profession that work with women and children, I would love your works from your perspective also and encourage your involvement in this also.
Send pictures, samples etc to my e-mail address as long as any other questions you may have: thebeginningofmotherhood@gmail.com
Include name, sub-theme used, and any info about the work you wish to be shared. I would also like to know if you work professionally with this population and in what capacity.
Quick post script: I want this to be appropriate for anyone to look at so please use descretion. No anatomical parts or things of that sort. I really would like this to be art about a journey.
I would love to have some scrapbook pages in this, as I consider this an art also! Thanks, Rachel
