Hello,
I really hate to ask this question...cause I think I already know the answer and I am going to hate myself
But here it goes anyways.....I read alot about PSE and really liked all the things that it said that it did....sooooo...I went out and bought it. Thought it would be a really good place to start for my digital scrapbooking. Well...anyways....I downloaded it....and all that come ups is "Adobe Reader" on my desktop. When I open it ...the opening screen looks nothing like it is suppose to. No bells and whistles....
So, now here comes the question....am I suppose to have another software on here ....like Adobe Photoshop before I can implement the Elements part? I guess what I am saying is....IS PSE just an upgrade to Adobe Photoshop?
I really hate to think that I just went out and spent all that money on something that I can't even use. Sigh! :(
Please...if someone can tell me what I did wrong. I hate t his "2%" law...where you have to be 2% smarter than what you are working on...geezzz :p
Thanks for your help
Barb
No, Photoshop Elements is a stand-alone program: it's the home/consumer version of Photoshop
Not sure why you're not getting the right software to open. Can you give us some more info about what you bought?
Adobe has Elements versions of a lot of its software. Perhaps you didn't buy Photoshop Elements, but rather some other Elements software.
Perhaps you're just clicking the wrong icon when you open it? What does it look like? The version 3 icon has a tiny, tiny portrait of a shorthaired woman on it, with a light blue monitor behind her, like this

Let's go from there to figure out what's going on
does your opening screen look like this:
http://24.27.2.150:81/Temp/AdobeReader.jpg
or like this:

Which icon are you clicking?

The Reader or the PSE one?

Ok...on the front of the box it has "Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0" And the disc inside says the same thing.
When I installed this all that came up on my desktop was an icon that said beside it...Adobe Reader 6.0???
I looked in All Programs and it says there "Adobe Reader 6.0" When this first did it...I went in and deleted it and installed it again. But the same thing came up...sooo...now I am confused. I had installed it first on my cd drive and then when I uninstalled it ...I couldn't install it on that drive again. So, I put it in my dvd drive and installed it. And it still came up the same..
I guess I am must not computer suavy....smile
Thanks though.

It looks like the top one...with acobe reader 6.0
and no where does it look like the other screen except on the box it came in....smile
Sounds like Adobe screwed up and put the wrong software on the CD, or you've installed the Reader program by mistake rather than the PSE one if both are on the CD
Pop in the CD again, and let's see if PSE is even on it, and let us know what screen comes up when you insert the CD. Let's work through this one step at a time

Oh, good :) My husband said, "Glad she got it. 99% of the time it's operator error, glad she didn't have to get a new CD" I'm pretty sure Adobe includes Reader with all its software so you can view any readme instructions, etc. I never install is since I already have it, so I never even noticed it in there!
After it's done installing, let us know, and we'll work through the First Page tutorial
Welcome to DSP! So glad you're here! Aren't you glad you're set and ready to go, no more software to buy? It's good to have you!
