First off, I have to share a little personal stuff... I've been struggling with anxiety... Bill actually called the 911 a couple weeks ago because we really, really thought I was having a heart attack. I thought I was going to die, and I couldn't think of anything but NOT loosing consciousness... The paramedics were WONDERFUL, and I know now how to cope with the acute attacks, but I'm telling you... even still, it's horrible. I've seen my physician and have started meds (TMI? Well, if anybody is struggling with anything like this, please holler at me! I even have my degrees in counseling psychology, and years of training as a therapist, and STILL, it strikes...). Turns out, four kids is enough to send me over the edge... :) But we'll be okay, and I am really, really fighting to get my spastic self BACK. Sooooo! Wanna dance??? :) :) :)
We can start early this time, because I have your bonus DONE! So, your bonus for the week of Sept 21-28 will be....

Suz big hugs too you and unfortunately I can empathise with you BUT I am winning the battle and my attacks are so few and irregular now that I dont even think about it.
As I learnt that it was my fear and worry/stress of actually having an attack that in most cases bought it on.
I even had a pregnancy test at one point thinking i maybe pregnant but thankfully not.

{{{Big Hugs to you Suz}}}
I recently had a 2 month hiatus from DSP and part of the reasons had to do with some mental health issues, among which was anxiety stuff. Which had me scared to even go out to the letterbox, but I get my mail now, I even go to the post office box :) Hang in there and use whatever resources work for you!
Take Care

Hugs to you!
One of the amazing things at DSP is how much we feel like we get to know people. And as much as I enjoy this community, there are times when a real life hug would go miles. So just feel those arms around you, and just holler any time you need us!
P.S. Can I just say that in the preview of the September-A-GoGo QC, MAN, can you tell that little girl is your daughter!!!

I'd have been "over the edge" long before I got to four kids, that's why I stopped at one! LOL! Hang in there.
Obviously this isn't affecting your designing - that new GoGo QC is gorgeous!

Oh, Suz.
Good for you for acknowledging the issue and taking steps to deal with it. Anxiety sucks-- but meds work wonders!
Hang in there, kiddo. I've dealt with depression and anxiety for my whole life. Have only had one or two true anxiety attacks and not as severe as yours. When my little roller coaster of a brain decides to take a swoop, I hate the depression -- but it's still preferable to the anxiety.
I'm glad to see all of you being open about this. I just made it worse for many years by trying to pretend it didn't exist. Now that I'm retired and can just go with it and give myself a couple of days to have a pity party, it's much better. Funny that the harder you fight, the harder it fights back.
I am here to say that you can be a normal -- perhaps even more interesting -- person despite the fact that your little synapses don't always napse the way you want them to.

Seconding Omi (as usual, she says the smart stuff first!) and sending big hugs. I got a call from my daughter a few years ago saying she was in the ER with her dad with heart attack symptoms, and it turned out to be an anxiety attack. They are real, and no fun. And you can't ignore the symptoms! Good for you for moving on this, and by sharing, perhaps someone else is helped!

Thirding Omi and seconding Scamp. I'm sending hugs, too!
I've only had a couple full blown anxiety attacks, but have dealt with many fears and paralyzing depressions over the years. Good news is that the older I get the less I deal with this stuff until now at senior citizen age I hardly have to deal with it at all. :-)
I congratulate you on getting help and for talking about it because you may have just encouraged someone else to do the same.
Yeah, one of the great things about senior citizenhood is that we just don't CARE what other people think. It's very freeing!!

Big Hugs Suz! I have also had anxiety attacks, although not recently and not as severe as yours. Mine were more the sudden feeling of panic, but without the physical symptoms you had. I would start hyperventilating and crying. I carried low dose Ativan with me in case I needed it. I think just having it available made me feel better.
I have suffered for anxiety and depression both in the last couple years and have been taking Zoloft. I also take low-dose Clonazepam (which is an anti-anxiety) but I take it for restless leg. The combo of the 2 work wonders for me. No more crying jags. I hope you find something that works for you. Like Julia said, with 4 little ones, you have a lot on your plate. Maybe some relaxation tapes and meditation in addition to meds might help too! Hang in there!!

Hey, Suz, I am glad you are still with us! Four Kids! I stopped at 3! They are all teenagers now! Ugh! How did they get to be so old?? I am not old enough to have 3 teenagers! But, hey, I can empathize with you! It sucks not to have control over your own emotions! I sent a year crying when I found out that I had Parkinson's disease. FINALLY they decided to give me antidepressants! Now I can at least tell people I have Parkinson's disease without breaking in to sobs!
OK! I have to get to work! I need my September Quick Click! BTW, I don't think I got a posting bonus for Stack Attack 2, week 3 in August. What was it?

Hugsss to you Suz .... I suffered shortly with anxiety and panic attacks [was actually talked out of one by a friend online] due to a traumatic situation. So I can sympathize with you on the anxiety front and very proud of you for telling us all here. I know I will stop with 1 kid and man she is a tough little cookie to deal with sometimes, I can't even imagine having 4. Sending you more hugzzzz, luv and tons of respect you mum of 4.

 Suz - totally know where your coming from (well not totally, no kids here), but have been fighting with anxiety for several years now. It was so bad at one point that I couldn't go out to public places for about a 5 month period. I now take daily meds to help control it, but every once in awhile it rears it's ugly head and get the flight or freeze thing going on in my brain.
Thank you everyone who has mentioned their situation here. What a great and supportive group of folks here at DSP. No wonder I love it here so much.
Off to check out this challenge.

HOLY SCHNIEKIES! Who would have known SO MANY of us are affected! I wish I could give every single one of you a ginormous hug. THANK YOU from the bottom of my HEART for your sweet, wonderful emails, and pm's, AND words here! I still can't get over how much you all mean to me. Sounds silly, but it's TRUE... I've felt even MORE anxious knowing that I've been letting you down left and right.
I wish none of us had to feel icky... It's so funny, but I figured out that one of the reasons I'm fighting it so hard is that I'm a trained therapist (all-but-dissertation, thanks to the arrival of one Maggie Mackenzie; pictured above! Thank God for all of them - I'm soooooo blessed!). But I figured... all that training, all that therapy on the other side of the "couch"... I shouldn't have to GO THROUGH this side of it... I should be able to cope, because I know what's going on... Yeah, right. :) But when I eventually go back to practicing, I know I'll be so much more able to GET what my clients are feeling... Know what I mean???
Anyway, THANK YOU again, for being such a supportive wonderful CIRCLE for me. I wish I could give you the stars and the moon!

I guess it happens to the best of us Susanne! I have also suffered from depression and anxiety all my life, and had 4 children before it was diagnosed 12 yrs ago when Tess my youngest was 13mths. So now on antidepressants - Effexor seems to control the anxiety best for me - and things are on a much more even keel. Feel quite normal in fact :) (As long as I have my 'happy pills' each day lol)
Can't believe there are so many others here .... Amazing. I am not alone!
Now off to buy the kit, which is on my wish list anyway

Suz, you are so definitely in a large company of sufferers. My DD had always been kind of an anxious person, but after her third child last year, when she came out of the anaesthetic (sp?), she was in full blown panic attack. I've suffered from lots of 'stuff' myself so I knew what was happening. Lucky thing too, cause NONE of the nursed or doctors recognized it at all, said she was 'still high' from the anaesthetic.
It took her a year and having to try all kinds of different meds to get back to her old self. What a nightmare it was for her. I'm so glad I knew what she needed during those months.
So yes, you will be a MUCH better therapist when you go back. Blessings and prayers to you lovey.

I am having a grumpy attack today. I got the kit yesterday and am so anxious to use it but have had meals to cook and laundry to do, etc. and nothing but more drudgery ahead of me for the rest of the day. I would just about kill to be alone for a few hours, but I guess a few Dove chocolates will have to do because alone time is not going to happen. Maybe tomorrow.

Gail! If he's having the same symptoms I'm having, he just needs to carry brown paper bags everywhere he goes! Seriously, I have them by my bed, in my car, in my bag, everywhere! I'm the bag lady! When the attack hits, it's still awful, but at least I know that it will pass and I"m not going to die.... Huge hugs, sistah!
