Gosh...where to start. I am a green girl, so I would love a paper that includes the 2 green colors together with just a tiny bit of a subtle pattern that brings in the caramel color, and it sanded in a few places on the page.

How about a grey and lt grey grungy stripe or a plaid pattern paper (again the Irish/Scotch in me coming out -- I love plaids)? Possibly with a curled edge showing chipboard beneath?

Oh, I like that paper, especially the rich texture. My ideas:
1. A dark grey (or is that gray-green?) paper with straight stitching in a light color near the edge of the paper, and some of the outer edge of the paper frayed.
2. A light cream color paper with some lightly stamped pale green weeds in the corner.
sueya

Would like to see that caramel colour with a linen texture
Grey faded graph paper would be good too.
How about mixing it up with some off center circles or some spots?
carolat

How about a wrinkled paper (any of the colors would be fine) with water spots - maybe rings from glasses
carolat

The first paper is great, Lauren...love the diagonal stripes.
I would like to see an embossed like paper in the dark green, with some grunge on the edges, and possibly with a curled corner.
Or
An ivory paper with the dark green flecks and a few caramel specks, too.

I love these colors and those stripes... I would love to see a solid grunged paper (not too much texture) in the lighter green (2nd from the top) or that grayish green (or both!)
mariafer
09-23-2008, 11:59 AM
Also a graph paper in either the brown, gray or lighter green would be lovely especially if it is a well used paper... maybe with smudges from an eraser type of thing...

sandygb
09-24-2008, 01:04 PM
I would like to see the darker green color (3rd from top on the swatch) in a twill texture with light lines in a grid pattern.
Would also like to see the darkest color gray-green in a denim texture with torn frayed edges. (I said something similar to this earlier, but wanted to add the denim texture).

What about a grungy mixture of the colors with the olive being the prominent
pinky7
09-24-2008, 08:32 PM
I love the denim! So now we need the olive color green (the second and third colors from the top) and make a tone on tone (kind of) with ivy embellished on it. You can choose which is the background and which is the ivy colors!

Have just bought DD a top and it's got embroidered flowers along one edge. A bg paper like that would be cool with one edge shaped by stitched flowers and leaves. If the paper was made like 14x12 then you could either use it as just a paper - 12x12 or use the edge with the flowers. In which case I'm going for a cream paper, green grunge edge and then one edge with embroidered flowers as well.

Oh, that sounds really cool! It could also be done as a 12x12 paper with the shaped embroidered edge. It could be placed over another paper the way papers with folded corners are.

Lauren, you have outdone yourself with these - I especially love the green denim and the circle paper!
I was looking through a paper scrapping magazine recently, and they had a little how to on making your own embossed metal embellishments. I would like to see a tin embossed metal element, a couple different ideas:
+ a frame that has embossed circles on it
+ a tag with an embossed border
And another idea ... a ric rac page frame in some shade of green.
How about a piece of punchinella (sequin waste - they're using it in paper scrapping a lot now)?
Raphne

enameled metal frame-- a circle, of course, to go with that last great paper!
HeatherL

sandygb
09-26-2008, 05:17 AM
Let me see if I can describe this:
A metal circle ring which holds a twill ribbon on each side, slightly fanned out. (The ribbons are folded in half with the folded end around the ring, and the loose ends going off the page, with one folded ribbon on each side of the ring....2 total). I hope that makes sense.
This could also work well with the tin piece that Kathleen wanted. If that piece was done in a circle, it could also fit over the circular metal piece as an additional accent.

Three different knotted ribbons so that they could tie onto the side of the punchinella, in one element ;) so that we can split them up if we want too.
Metal frame in the same metal as the punchinella.
If the frame was the same thickness as the gap between the punched holes, then the knots could be used on the frame as well...

Straw flowers would be pretty and lighten up the color scheme. Even some "weeds" of some type. This does have an outdoor-sey feeling to it. Hiking, camping that type of activity. Dandelions, cat's tails,

I love the idea of cattails too! Love the way this is coming together.
Bringing this forward again:
Some straw flowers in the greenish tones with copper accents.
OR
Some viney, blingy thingees - lol

When I was growing up, we used to spend time every summer in Michigan (a magical place on the shores of Lake Michigan). We used to go on walks and find these plants that we called Silver Dollar Plants, although my googling indicates the proper name is Honesty Plant. We would take them home, and then peel the skin off to reveal this silvery circle underneath. We would always come home with a big bouquet of them! I think I will see if I can find some seeds and try to get them to grow in the woods behind our house.
I found this photo, a spray grouping of them would be very pretty:

Love the feel of this kit.
It would be fun to have some laced eyelets with the same eyelet as the journaling papers
Green leaves
Vine type corner thing with them trailing down

Oh, I love that journal stack. I saw the suggestion but didn't realize it was circular. Perfect!!

Love the kit so far!
Some kind of flower- only grudged up a bit
sandygb
09-28-2008, 11:04 PM
Hmm....Since the round journal stack has an eyelet, I would like something to anchor it with: Frayed yarn or twine, twisted wire, a button, a hook.....?????
How about twisted wire with several old frayed fabric strips tied around it and the wire bent to go through the eyelet.
OMG this kit is fabulous and its so much fun watching it come to life.
Sorry I dont have suggestions ... well except that some sort of flower or autumn berries to add a splash of a different colour might be intresting.

See? Everyone wants flowers! No flowers?? We need something to decorate the frame with, so a button, or some leaves (whitish in color) or a pearl brooch!

Bulrushes... now you've made me think of my grandparents farm... fabulous.
How about a circle of brads, about the size of the journalling paper.
Circle journalling stamp with stitched lines and maybe zigzag stitching around the circle.
Or a little bit grungy circle stamp with "A time to remember" or "Remember This" or the likes, that would fit on the cream journalling card and lines that would fit on the gold card.

Bulrushes...
I learned something new today! We call them cattails here. :-)

I think the kit could use something in a lighter color with a linear shape to it. I would like to see a bent and stretched out wire with maybe some flowers or leaves or beads along it.
Maybe we could add a cluster of fall colored flowers in the orange/off white/light green colors. Your flowers are always gorgeous.
Perhaps some fall grasses would look good with the bullrushes.
I wonder what a metallic butterfly would look like with this kit.
pinky7
09-29-2008, 08:20 AM
Bulrushes work!
A simple little pin with just a tiny bit of bling on it! Or a brad matching the ones on the belt!
pinky7
09-29-2008, 08:26 AM
Just a note: the top ring on the belt isn't attached to anything. It is just out there. What is keeping it in place?
Just a note: the top ring on the belt isn't attached to anything. It is just out there. What is keeping it in place?
Each ring is attached to the opposite end of the belt .. to me it looks like the rings are pushed through each other which is keeping them in place ... like the belt buckles I used to have as a kid.
The bull rushes are perfect.

09-29-2008, 08:35 AM
I guess you mean the left side of the top ring Pinky> The right side of that ring is held by the ribbon. I think I will use a cross stitch to hold it down. LOL.
Bullrushes is a new word for me too. Who knew they were cattails. LOL. This kit is awesome. I love these Gimme A Clue kits. Well....I LOVE all of Lauren's kits, but it's fun to see our suggestions come to life!!!

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't know bulrushes and cattails were the same thing. Love the way this kit is coming together, Lauren. Can't wait to see what appears next.
Am looking for one of those lovely filigree flourish thingee's you make with copperish bling on the vines, or bling in all of the colors of the original palette.
pinky7
09-29-2008, 12:08 PM
LOL, Sandy! I was just looking at it because I love it, but then I saw the ring was not attached! A cross stitch would do it! I have those kinds of belts around the house and usually both rings are stitched down on one end, and then the belt goes through the other end of the rings!

the rings are held in place by the ribbons - - because one side of the ring is on top on each side they hold together that way - if you look closely you will see that the left hand ring is on top on the left but underneath on the right - and the other ring is the opposite - its this and the ribbons that hold the 2 rings together - however Im not going to get into the semantics or physics of it here right now - take it or leave it!!!

Just fyi heres a close up of the rings - each ring is held in place by the other ring - the top ring isnt just sitting there - as you can see its actually on top on one side and under on the other - now heaven knows it might not hold your pants up without being stitched but this is a scrapbook page element not a piece of clothing . and youd have a heck of a time holding up your pants with a png file anyway!! On and on top of that the ribbons arent a loop anyway - both sides end at the edge of the page so they arent holding anything up - think of it not as a belt but just a pair of rings joining 2 ribbons together - is that more logical for you???????

Hey, I had a belt like that when I was a kid. Of course it was a classy rainbow belt tho. Jealous?

That twill ribbon thing rocks!! How about a wire element to go across the page in an irregular s patter, looping back on itself, maybe into a concentric circle on the end(s), with some subtle beads of course! Something like this shape:
