Hello, I just wanted to share this idea with you all. I just made a Hybrid Altered Altoids Tin: Wristlet with Mini Album (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=281036&nocache=1). Please let me know what you think, and if you have any ideas to improve the design, etc...

I had all of these altoids tins sitting around, so I searched the internet to see what ideas were floating around around out there...and believe me there is a myriad of neat things to do with altoids tins!

It was really fun, and actually pretty simple to make. It was also fairly inexpensive to make, as well. It took about a day to layout the digital design part, and another day to put it all together.

I made this for a friend. It is a wristlet with a mini album that pulls out. It also has a small mirror inside the lid. I did not have any photos of her children to incorporate into the mini album layout, so I compromised and made little vellum pockets so that she could add photos to the album later. She can chose to keep the little album inside or use the altered tin to hold cash, a lip gloss, keys, atm cards, etc... or whatever she wants to put inside.

However, I am an impatient crafter. I hate waiting for paint to dry and glue to set (I want the pretty now, now, now!)...so I gleened and sifted my ideas for this project form various sources, and sort of came up with my own thing and my own way to put it together.

DSP, unfortunately, does not have a template, YET, to make the covers, liners, and album for the tin **wink, nudge** (hint, hint). So, I took measurements of the tin and made my own little template...it took a couple tries to get it right...but it finally came out.

I think I am going to make a few of these up as Christmas gifts. They would also make fun ornaments, and/or gift card holders... brag books, purse accessories, etc...

Tiny Treasures (album cover side 1)
Poem: October by Paul Laurence Dunbar (album side 2)
October is the treasurer of the year,
And all the months pay bounty to her store:
The fields and orchards still their tribute bear,
And fill her brimming coffers more and more.
But she, with youthful lavishness,
Spends all her wealth in gaudy dress,
And decks herself in garments bold
Of scarlet, purple, red, and gold.
She heedeth not how swift the hours fly
But smiles and sings her happy life along;
She only sees above a shining sky;
She only hears the breezes' voice in song.
Her garments trail the woodland through,
And gather pearls of early dew
That sparkle till the roguish Sun
Creeps up and steals them every one.
But what cares she that jewels should be lost,
When all of Nature's bounteous wealth is hers?
Though princely fortunes may have been their cost,
Not one regret her calm demeanor stirs.
Whole-hearted, happy, careless, free,
She lives her life out joyously,
Nor cares when Frost stalks o'er her way,
And turns her auburn locks to gray.

I love tin albums... I made one myself for my kids grandparents:

They are so fun to make and make a cute little reminder. I made it as a brag book for father's day and he keeps it in his office. I didn't make mine so resistent but mostly because if he needs another one all I have to do is print it out again! Don't we love digital scrapping!
